INSULTED THE GIRL
And Was Caned For His Pains.
The Experience of a Chappie Who Thought He Could Insult a Seattle Girl With Impunity--Taught a Lesson.
W. H. Brown, fruit inspector of King county, gave a young man a good caning yesterday afternoon. Mr. Brown's daughter was walking on Columbia street, between Second and Third avenues, when a strange fellow stepped up and began annoying the girl with insulting remarks. As she reached Third avenue, she met her father and quickly told of the man's actions. Mr. Brown began hitting the chappie vigorously over the head with his cane. The man gave a yell and started on a run down Columbia street, followed by Brown. The latter is not as young as he used to be, and got left in the pursuit.
