MOTHER DIES FOR BABE
A mother's self-sacrifice and devotion led to the death yesterday at Providence Hospital of Mrs. Katherine Oleson and a few hours later her little baby, the innocent cause of the tragedy, died in the same institution. The remains of the mother and the babe for which the woman gave up her life are side by side in the mortuary establishment of the Bonney-Watson Co., awaiting advices from the father, who is on a vessel somewhere in Alaskan waters.
The baby contracted a bad cold which speedily turned into typhoid fever. A nurse was procured, but the mother insisted in remaining by the bedside of the baby almost constantly. She finally contracted the disease and both were removed to the hospital, where they died within five hours of each other.
