Charles F. Reitze Dies in Hospital
Charles F. Reitze, 63 years old, former prominent mill man, died late yesterday afternoon after an illness of more than five weeks at Minor Hospital.
Reitze came to Seattle in 1874 from Fort Wayne, Indiana, his birthplace. Shortly after his arrival here he was connected with the mill business of Reitze-MacDonald Lumber Company. In 1889 he was elected to the City Council and in 1891 he represented King County in the Legislature. At the expiration of his public office Mr. Reitze was associated with the Stetson & Post Lumber Company for nearly fifteen years. In 1896 he went to Alaska and engaged in lumbering and mining and returned to Seattle in 1908. He has lived a retired life since, residing with his daughter, Mrs. Gertrude R. Mills.
Besides his daughter he leaves two sons, Chester N. Reitze and Irwin S. Reitze, both of Seattle. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Bonney-Watson Undertaking Parlors Cremation will follow.
