FALLS DEAD WHILE SWEEPING OFF SNOW
William G. Young receives last summons in front of His Brother's Residence-- Was Pioneer of Washington
Stricken as he swept the snow from the walks of the residence of his brother, F. M. Young, 1430 North Prospect Street, William G. Young, 71 years of age, expired shortly after being carried into the house about 8 o'clock yesterday morning.
He was seen by neighbors across the street to fall. They hastened to his assistance, and aided in carrying him into the residence of his brother. Mr.Young was unconscious. Dr. J. B. McNerthney was summoned but the aged man had passed beyond the aid of a physician. It is believed that death was due to apoplexy or an affection of the heart.
William G. Young was born in Allegheny county, Pennsylvania, July 7, 1837. He came to the state of Washington in 1887 and engaged in the general merchandise business at Des Moines in partnership with his brother, F. M. Young. About six years ago they changed their location to South Tacoma, where they were in the grocery business under the firm name of Young & Co., until about two years ago.
Besides his brother in Tacoma, the deceased leaves a sister in Kansas City, Mo., and a brother in Southern California or Nevada. He was unmarried. The body was removedto Hoska's to await decision as to the funeral. [newspaper?]
