Richard Pierce Cooper was born in Kentucky on April 15, 1841 to Cynthia [Moupin] and Covington Cooper. Richard's parents moved to Missouri
when he was about two years old, and then brought their family west to California in 1954. Richard moved north to Idaho to seek his fortunes in gold. He then took up sheep ranching and
became quite properous with his sheep and farming. Richard married Lodema [Church] on August 7, 1888 in Cottonwood, Bannock County, Idaho. The Cooper family had six children,
including Mathilda, Mary, Benjamin, Ida, Peter and Matie (Della). By the 1910 census, Richard and Lodema were living in Klickitat County, Washington. Richard passed away in Goldendale

She was widowed again before the 1940 census, and she had reverted back to using the "Cupinall" name. Esther passed away November 13, 1970 in Lewis County, WA.
