Elvis John Clary
"Elvis John Clary, 78, a resident of White Salmon, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at the Oregon Veterans Home.
He was born April 7, 1925 in Goldendale to John and Ada (Ellsworth) Clary and grew up on the family ranch in the Blockhouse area near Goldendale. He joined the U.S. Army in 1950 and served
as a mechanic with the 8076th M.A.S.H. unit in Korea. He married Dorothy Rieckers on Valentine's Day, 1952 in Goldendale; they were later divorced. Returning to civilian life, he worked as
an auto mechanic at several Chrysler dealerships in the Pacific Northwest before opening his own business, "John's Automotive" in Bingen. He later opened a branch in Hood River from which
he retired in 1997.
He enjoyed fishing and camping with lifelong friends Charley and Alice Lenoir of Goldendale, and was fond of sports, particularly the Portland Trailblazers.
He is survived by sons Richard Clary, Kent, Robert Clary, White Salmon, and Randie Clary, Ronald; grandchildren Molly, Brent, Kate, Elizabeth, Becky, Whitney and Shelley as well as
great-grandchildren Dylan and Maya; and two nephews Marvin Fuhrman, Vancouver, and Leon Fuhrman, Salem, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Wilma Fuhrman.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at the Goldendale I.O.O.F. Cemetery, to be followed by a reception at the Goldendale United Methodist Church, 109 East Broadway Street
