SCHUBERGER, John - Funeral services for John Schuberger, age 77, of 1118 Puget St., were held Tuesday, March 13, at 9:30 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home with Rev. R. L. Christensen, pastor, Faith Lutheran Church, officiating. Mr. Schuberger passed away Saturday, March 10, 1984. a Bellingham resident for the past 58 years, he was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran; worked in Bellingham Coal Mines for 20 years and was a re tired member of Longshoremans Union Local No. 7. He is survived by his wife Ruth A.; three brothers, Vince and wife, Jean Smrekar, of Ferndale, Leon Smrekar, of Bellingham and Fred Oberrieder of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister, Josephine Mosnick, of Kansas City, Missouri; four step-daughters, Robert and husband, Charles Finkbonner, Karen and husband, Tom Down, all of Bellingham, Jeanette and husband Dave Mehl, of Arlington, Audry and husband, Keith Morrison, of Kent; 10 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Born July 10, 1969, he has finally been set free to be at peace with his creator. He is survived by his wife Amy; his children Mercedes, Christian, Sierra, John, Brendel and Brianna; his parents Fred and Jean Schubert; his brother, Bruce Schubert; his sisters Lorraine Schubert, Karen Schubert Robinson and his grandmother Doris Chesley. SCHUELER, Delbert A., age 60 of 1136 Sunset Avenue, Bellingham, passed away July 14, 1981. He had been a resident of Whatcom County for 50 years and was a member of the American Legion Post of Bellingham. Survivors include: his wife Evelyn at home; 2 daughters, Linda D. SCHUELER, Evelyn, age 62 of 1136 Sunset Ave., Bellingham passed away Thursday, November 18, 1982. SCHUETT, Asa E., age 77, of 9089 Garrison Rd., Sumas, passed away Monday, May 31, (1977). A life time resident of Whatcom Co., he was a retired farmer and has been a milk hauler for the Carnation Co. for over 30 years. He was a member of the Whatcom Co. Farm Bureau, Sumas Valley Grange No. 920 and the Sumas Senior Citizens. Surviving are his wife, Mary at home; a brother, Beverly Schuett of Everson; 2 sisters, Viola Seton of Arlington and Lois Laudensky of Selah; also numerous nieces and nephews. SCHUETT, Beverly - Funeral services for Beverly Schuett, age 66, of 711 E. Main St., Everson, will be Tues., Oct. 2, 1 p.m. in Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. David Loper, Everson Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial to follow in Greenacres Memorial Park. SCHUETT, Ida Marie, age 80, of Route 2, Everson, passed away in a local rest home Wednesday, Dec. 24, (1958). A resident of the Sumas and Everson area since 1900. She was a member of the Lutheran Church, Country Women's Club, Liberty Helpers Club, Sumas Valley Grange No. 926. Surviving are three sons, Asa of Route 1, Sumas, Shelby of Bellingham and Beverly of Route 2, Everson; two daughters, Mrs. Viola Seton of Arlington, Mrs. Lois Laudensky of Selah, Wash.; one brother, Frank Schumacher of Janesville, Wis.; two sister, Mrs. Will Dorner of Brodhead, Wis., and Mrs. Dwight Terry of Everson; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. SCHUETT, Mary Ann, age 79, of 309 Baker St., Everson, passed away Monday, July 8, (1985) in a local hospital. She was born July 18, 1905 in Oklahoma and came to Whatcom County in 1924. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Davida Schuett of Everson; cousins, Ray and Juanita Bravard of Bellingham, Onda and Roy Connell of Bellingham, Shirley and Boyd Shea of Lynden, Gene and Ardis McWilliams of Port Angeles. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 11, in the Sumas Advent Christian Church with Rev. Earl Crouse officiating. Interment was in Lynden Cemetery.
SCHUETT, Wilbur H., age 43, of 1320 Ellis Street, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, Oct. 23, (1949). Mr. Schuett had resided in this city for the past 20 years, and was a resident of Sumas prior to that time. Deceased was a long hauler and a veteran of World War II and leaves to survive his widow, Allie M., at home; one daughter, Mrs. Darlene Worth; mother, Mrs. Ida Schuett of Sumas; three brothers, Ace and Beverly, of Sumas, and Shelby of Bellingham; two sisters, Mrs. Viola Seton, of Darrington, and Mrs. Lois Laudensky, of Cle Elum, and three stepdaughters. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. W. J. McKnight, of Sumas, Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 1 p.m. Final resting place, Lynden Cemetery.
SCHUETTE, Josephine A., age 67, of 1033 21st St., passed away at the family home Wednesday, August 7, (1957) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Schuette had resided in Bellingham for the past 48 years and leaves to survive her husband, Walter at the family home; three sons, Henry of Vancouver, Wash., Robert of Ferndale, and Gordon Erickson, Alaska; three daughters, Mrs. Hazel McCauley, Mrs. Margaret Erickson, both of this city; Mrs. Betty Hamick of Jonesville, Mich.; five sisters, Mrs. June Melbo, Mrs. Edna Thompson, both of this city; Mrs. Minnie Bingham of Marysville, Mrs. Hilda Tripp of Seattle, and Mrs. Louise Cox of Toppenish; one brother, Art Larsen of Everett. Three half sisters Verna, Mary and Mildred Larsen; and six half-brothers, Elmer, Lewis, Paul, Walt, Raymond and Cecil Larsen. Funeral services will be conducted Monday Aug. 12, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Scaggs, pastor of the Assembly of God Church of Lynden, Wash., officiating within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home. Interment, Bay View Cemetery.
SCHUTTE, Robert W. - Funeral services for Mr. Robert W. Schuette, age 59, 1236 Birch Bay-Lynden Rd., Lynden, were conducted on Tuesday, April 22, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Gillies Funeral Home with Rev. John Hendricks officiating. Private family burial preceded in Woodlawn Cemetery. Mr. Schuette, who died at his home on Saturday, April 19, (1986), was born on August 28, 1926, and had been a lifetime county resident. During World War II, Mr. Schuette served in the U.S. Navy and for 17 years had been employed at Georgia-Pacific in Bellingham. He was a member of the Lumber and Sawmill Workers Union and the Bellingham Elks Lodge No. 194. On Oct. 6, 1950, he was married to Oneita Harmon in Lynden. He is survived by his wife, Oneita; three sons, Michael and wife Jan of Grandview, Pat and wife Carol of Bellingham, and Jeffry of Cocoa, Florida; three granddaughters; a brother, Henry and wife Janice of Tigard, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel McCauley of Bellingham and twin-sister, Mrs. Betty and husband Hiram Hamrick of Deming; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Emma Harmon of Lynden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
SCHUETTE, Walter H., age 78, of 1033 21st St., passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, Aug. 19, (1958) following a short illness. Mr. Schuette had resided in Bellingham for the past 43 years and was a retired carpenter. He leaves to survive three sons, Henry of Vancouver, Wash.; Robert of Ferndale, and Gordon of Alaska; three daughters, Mrs. Hazel McCauley of Sedro-Woolley, Mrs. Betty Hamrick of Jonesville, Mich., Miss Margarate Erickson of this city; 17 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ella Hinton of Corvallis, Ore. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home. Interment Bayview.

SCHUG, Nettie M., 87, formerly of Everson, died in a Bellingham hospital Saturday, January 20, (1960). Mrs. Schug was born in Iowa, Sept. 28, 1874, and had lived in Everett for 12 years, and for the past year had been in a Ferndale rest home. She was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Harry Deem of Rt. 2, Blaine, Mrs. Lula Vander Yacht of Everson, Mrs. Julia Herrick of Bellingham and Mrs. Edna Bock of Sumas; two sons, William Schug of 2201 Chestnut St., Everett, and Alfred Schug of Faith, S.D.; a brother, Frank Jones of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren. Funeral services and burial were held in Everett, Tuesday, Jan. 23.
SCHUH, Mary Ellen passed away at her home, 2007 G Street, Sunday, February 2, (1947). Mrs. Schuh had resided in this community for the past fifty years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Catherine Campbell Circle of that church and the Aftermath Club, also Gold Star Mother, Ladies' Auxiliary of Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7, American Legion, Sehome Chapter O.E.S. Surviving relatives are two sons, Clarence G. White, of Bellingham, and L. Pinkney White, of Sacrament, Calif.; four daughter, Mrs. Jesse Moon, of Seattle, Mrs. Lillian Headrick and Mrs. Helen Sheedy, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Virginia Mercer, of Bellingham; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Annie Hinebaugh and Mrs. Gillie Whitehair, both of Terra Alta, West Virginia. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. R. G. Bisnett, Wednesday, February 5, at 11:00 a.m. Final resting place, Bay View.
SCHUHOW, Thomas R., 66, of Wickersham, died Tuesday June 14, 1994 in Mount Vernon following a brief battle with cancer. He was born on October 8, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois. He served as a cook in the U.S. Navy for 22 years. In 1968 he moved to Bellingham, then Acme and finally Wickersham. He worked as a cook for the Whatcom County Jail for six years. He was a member of the Acme American Legion. Survived by: wife, Dolores, Wickersham; 3 sons, Terry, Acme, Kelly, Bellingham, Michael, Everett; 1 daughter, Marilyn Justo, Chicago, Ill.; 1 brother, Ray Schuhow, Aurora, Ill. Predeceased by parents, 1 brother and a daughter Kathleen Schuhow on May 21, 1994. Cremation held under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro Woolley. A Graveside Inurnment Service will be held Thursday June 23, 1994 at 4:00 p.m. at the Saxon Cemetery near Acme.
SCHUITEMA, Harry, age 77, who resided at 313 D St., Auburn, Wash., died at home Friday March 20, (1964). Mr. Schuitema was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., and moved to Lynden in 1909 where he resided until 1928. In 1954, after several moves, he settled in Auburn. Mr. Schuitema was employed by the St. Regis Paper Co. before his retirement in 1953. He was a member of the Christian Missionary and Alliance Church. Surviving are his wife, Florence, at home; 4 brothers, Charles Schuitema, Henry Schuitema, George Schuitema and John Schuitema, all of Grand Rapids, Mich.; one sister, Mrs. Effie Jaeger, also of Grand Rapids. Private family services will be held Monday at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden with the Rev. Daniel Smuland officiating. Interment will follow in the Monumenta Cemetery.
SCHULER, Infant Schuler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Schuler, 1805 Electric Avenue, passed away at a local hospital Monday, April 3rd, (1944). Surviving relatives, besides the parents, include one brother, Jerry Glen at home; also the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schuler and Mr. and Mrs. A. Anable, all of Bellingham. The remains rest at the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home where funeral announcements will be made.
SCHULER, Fred G., III, age 74 died Sat. Nov. 21, (1981) in Yakima, Wa. He is survived by 3 sons, Dean Schuler of Wa. State, Dennis W. Schuler of Yakima, Wa., Fred G. Schuler of Yakima, Wa.; 1 daughter, Mrs. Terry (Judy A.) Nelson of Bellingham; 1 sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Maymie) Nathan of Seattle; 1 brother, Glenn H. Schuler of Lummi Island; 12 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Harold (Ethel) Burhans of Seattle. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wed., Nov. 25, 1981 at Woodlawn Cemetery, N.W. Rd., Bellingham. Arrangements are being handled by Shaw & Sons of Yakima.
SCHULER, Frederick G., age 66 years, beloved husband of Mrs. May Schuler, passed away at the family residence, 723 East North Street, Monday, March 3, (1947) following a lingering illness. Mr. Schuler had been a resident of Bellingham for the past forty years and had worked as a shingleweaver, he was a member of the Shingleweaver's Local 2529. Surviving relatives include, beside the widow, two sons, Fred G. and Glen, both of Bellingham; two daughters, Mrs. Maymie Nathan at Renton and Mrs. Ethel Micheal, of Seattle; also seven grandchildren. The remains are resting at the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home, where services will be conducted Wednesday, March 5, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. D. B. Kunkle officiating. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. Those acting as casketbearers will be Messrs. Blyth Watkins, Lee Hatton, Robert Whitley, Hjalmar Moline, Fred Lovins, and Charles McWilliams.
SCHULER, Glenn Harry, age 78 passed away February 19, 1993 at his home in Eagle River, Alaska. He was born in Whatcom County on April 8, 1914 to Maymie and Frederick Schuler. He was a lifetime resident of Whatcom County until July 1991 when he fulfilled his life long dream of moving to Alaska. He married Wanda M. Anable on April 30th, 1939. Glenn was a logger for many years in Whatcom and Skagit Counties before becoming a commercial fisherman; reefnetting and crab fishing from his home on Lummi Island, WA. Glenn had been Exec secretary for Washington Reefnet Assn. for 18 years, also a U.S. Rep. to the International Salmon Commission for fisheries and on the Gov. advisory committee for fisheries for many years. In his retirement years he loved and enjoyed his many animals and feeding the wild birds. Glenn had been an avid hunter and sport fisherman most of his life. He is survived by his wife Wanda M. Schuler of Eagle River, Alaska; one daughter Glenda M. Galahan and husband Jerry of Seattle, WA; one son Jerry G. Schuler and wife Judy of Bellingham, WA; four grandchildren: Valerie, Glenn, Dawn, and Jesse and two great-granddaughters Rachel and Allysun; also numerous other relatives. At Glenn's request there will be no services.
SCHULER, Katie, age 94, of 4276 Grandview Rd., Blaine passed away Sun. May 27, 1979. Mrs. Schuler had been a resident of Whatcom Co. since 1929, after immigrating from Russia in the early 1900's. She was a member of the Bethel Temple in Ferndale. She is survived by 1 daughter, Emma Lind of Blaine. 2 grandchildren; Cathy Lewis of Ferndale & Carl Lind of Blaine. 1 great grandchild, numerous nieces & nephews. SCHULER, Maude May, age 66, of 723 E. North, passed away at a local hospital Saturday, December 9, (1950) following an extended illness. Mrs. Schuler was a member of the Royal Neighbors and had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 45 years. Surviving relatives include two sons, Fred G. Jr. and Glenn H. Schuler, both of Bellingham; two daughters, Mrs. Maymie Nathan and Mrs. Ethyl Mickels, both of Seattle; her mother, Mrs. Mattie Glann, of Cashmere; four brothers, Arthur, Fred and William Glann, all of Wenatchee, and John Glann, of Port Angeles; four sisters, Mrs. Jessie Countryman, of Pateros, Wash., Mrs. Pearl Duncan, of Tacoma, Mrs. Rose Darling of Wenatchee, and Mrs. Eva Gletcher, of Entiat; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. SCHULTZ, Agnes A., 86, 2733 Madrona St., died Wednesday (November 5, 1986) at her home. She was born Feb. 1, 1900, in Newkirk, Iowa, and lived in Whatcom County the past 52 years. Mrs. Schultz was a member of the American Association of Retired People and Bellingham Senior Citizens. Survivors include a son, Eugene Den Hartog of Bellingham; a daughter, Muriel Montgomery of Everett; a brother, Simon Adema of Artesia, Calif.; three sisters, Harriet Bull of Bellingham, Jeanette Van Leeuwen of Spokane, and Joanna Zweegman of Lynden; 11 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services are pending with Westford Funeral Home.
SCHULTZ, Albert, age 70, born June 27, 1911 in Bellingham, passed away August 24, 1981 in a Portland, Oregon hospital after a long illness. He lived at 3322 E. 29th St., Vancouver, WA for the past 27 years. Before that he was the owner of the Wahl Store on the Everson-Goshen Rd., Bellingham. He was a retired welder. He leaves his beloved wife, Anna Schultz at home; a son, Raymond Schultz at home, a daughter, Shirley Campbell of Vancouver, WA. 5 grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth Morgenthaler of Bellingham; numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter Joanne. Funeral services were held Friday, August 28 at 1 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel in Vancouver, Washington.
SCHULTZ, Anna C., age 81, of 1509 E. Victor Street, passed away in a local hospital, Sunday, Feb. 18, (1962). Mrs. Schultz had resided here for the past 59 years; was the widow of Emil O. Schultz, and a member of the Women's Benefit Ass'n. Survivors are several nieces and nephews, including Frank Grasher of Custer. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Mrs. Schultz had resided in this community for the past 38 years and was a member of the Whatcom County Dairymen's Association. SCHULTZ, Bessie H. (Payne), age 84, of 5302 South 4th Ave., Everett, passed away in that city Tues., Jan. 20, (1976). Mrs. Schultz was a former resident of Rt. 2, Everson at Nugents Corner, she is a member of the Church of Christ. SCHULTZ, Edna M., 83, 3790 Del Bonita Way, died Tuesday, (Feb. 5, 1985). Mrs. Schultz was born Oct. 9, 1901, in Conde, S.D. She came to Bellingham 1 1/2 years ago from Salem, Ore., where she had lived most of her life. She was a member of the Bellingham Seventh-day Adventist Church. Surviving are her husband, William; two daughter, including Irene Spady of Bellingham; a son; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and a sister. There will be no local services. SCHULTZ, Emil S., age 65 of 2902 Birch Bay Lynden Rd., passed away on Sunday, July 9, 1978. A life time county resident, Mr. Schultz had been a plumber at the Mobil Oil Refinery until he retired in 1972. He had also operated Schultz Pump Repair for many years, was a member of the Custer Sportsman Club and is survived by his former wife, Agnes; a sister, Elizabeth Morganthaler of Bellingham; a brother, Albert of Vancouver, Wash.; 3 step children and numerous nieces and nephews. SCHULTZ, Herbert Philip - Funeral services for Bellingham resident Herbert Philip Schultz will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, with Pastor Mickey Meyers officiating. Mr. Schultz, 436 1/2 Baker St., died Tuesday. He was 68. Born April 7, 1922, in Grandview, he was a resident of Bellingham from 1940 to 1963 and returned to Bellingham in 1989. He worked for 13 years as a heavy-equipment operator for the Bellingham Public Works Department, was public works director of College Place, Wash., from 1963 to 1968, and managed convalescent centers in the Seattle-Tacoma area from 1968 until 1989. Mr. Schultz enjoyed camping and going to the ocean. He married Hazel Anthony on May 16, 1941, in Bellingham. In addition to his wife, survivors include sons, Douglas Schultz of Glendale, Calif., and Gary Schultz of Palm Springs, Calif.; a daughter, Cheryl Pegel of Bellingham; five grandchildren; his mother Adelaide Schultz of Olympia; a brother Dr. Robert Schultz of Vancouver, Wash.; and two sisters, Ruth Gray of Olympia and Evelyn Wesslen of Hayden, Idaho. SCHULTZ, Jack, age 59, of Ferndale, passed away this morning December 18, (1946) at a local hospital after two months' illness. He had been a resident of this county for the past twenty-six years and an employe of the Farmers Mutual Telephone Company for many years. She was an accomplished musician having recorded music in Hawaii as a member of "The Foundry". She was a winner of "You Can Be A Star Contest" in Nashville, TN & toured the world as a musician. SCHULZ, Albert, age 75 of Sumas, went to be with his Lord at his home on Thursday, March 10, 2005. Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 16, at Noon in Sumas Cemetery followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. in Grace Baptist Fellowship, 338 North Park Street, Lynden, with Pastor Delaine Bailey officiating. Albert was born in Bessarabia, USSR on August 7, 1929 and was the son of Edward and Christine (Hein) Schulz. He grew up there and then moved to Germany where he lived during World War II and emigrated to Canada in 1953. He was married to Margritta Schroeder in Vancouver, British Columbia on May 2, 1962. They moved to San Jose, California in 1963 and in 1971 to the Sumas area in 1971 where he and Margritta operated a dairy farm on the Bishop Road. He was a member of Grace Baptist Fellowship in Lynden and enjoyed spending time with his family, working on the farm and with his cows. He is survived at home by his wife Margritta; daughter Christine and husband Doug Hendricks and their children Natalie and Marika of Sumas, son Martin and wife Christa Schulz and daughter Karen Schulz all of Everson; three sisters and four brothers in Germany.

SCHUMACHER, Edward C., - Former Fairhaven Teacher, Summoned Edward C. Schumacher, 89, passed away in a local rest home Sunday (June 3, 1951), having resided in this community for the past 48 years. He had retired in 1934 from the Bellingham public school system, having taught manual training and mechanics at Fairhaven high school. Mr. Schumacher was a member of Whatcom lodge No. 151, F. & A. M., an honorary life member of the Pierre C. Cornwall lodge, No. 289. Two daughters survive, Mrs. Margaret Terpenning, here, and Mrs. Edna French, Bremerton. SCHURMAN, Bertha - Memorial funeral services for Bertha Schurman, 93, of 205 S. B.C. Ave., Lynden, were conducted on Sunday in the Wiser Lake Chapel with Rev. Bruce C. Hemple officiating. Mrs. Schurman's remains were forwarded to Willow Hills Memorial Park in Willow Springs, Ill. Mrs. Schurman passed away in Lynden on Friday, Feb. 28, 1992. She was born in Lemars, Iowa on Feb. 20, 1899, the daughter of Christian and Anna Lobbes. On April 16, 1924 she was married to her husband Herman in Chicago; Mr. Schurman passed away in 1963. For 30 years she taught in Christian schools in the Chicago area and was also a Bible teacher and volunteer at County Hospital in Chicago for many years. She moved to Lynden in 1986 and was a member of the Wiser Lake Chapel. She is survived by a daughter, Beatrice and husband Rev. Bruce Hemple of Lynden, son Bruce Schurman and wife JoAnn of Wheaton, Ill.; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Betty Schurman of Crete, Ill.; two sisters, Gertrude Hoekstra in Iowa and Henrietta Rooze of South Holland, Ill.; and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by a son, Herbert Schurman. Services were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.
SCHUSTER, John J., age 70, of Rt. 1, Ferndale, passed away Wednesday, April 11, (1956) in a local hospital, following an extended illness. Mr. Schuster had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 16 years. He is survived by his wife, Bertha; one sister, Miss Elizabeth Schuster; one brother, William Schuster, both of Pittsburgh, Penn. SCHUT, Henry John, age 82 years, of Sumas, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, Feb. 9, (1956). He had resided in the Sumas district for the past 10 years. SCHUTTE, Dick, Corporal, age 22, of 2415 Williams Street, passed away near Anchorage, Alaska, September 12, (1950). He came to Everson in 1941 and moved to Bellingham five years ago and was in the United States Air Force three years. SCHUTTE, John, age 79, 501 Liberty Street, Lynden, passed away suddenly at his home Tuesday, Jan. 15, (1963). A resident of Lynden since 1909, he was a retired carpenter. He had constructed numerous homes and buildings in Whatcom County, including the Blaine, Meridian and Ferndale Schools. Surviving are his wife, Tena; three sons, Richard of Prinsburg, Minn., Harold, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Howard of Bellingham; two daughters, Mrs. Norman Erickson of Spokane and Mrs. Ray Terpstra of Lynden; two brothers, Joe and Gerrit, both of Grand Rapids, Mich.; also nine grandchildren. SCHUTTE, Richard - Former Lynden resident Richard Schutte, age 66, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, (1984) at Spicer, Minn. Mr. Schutte attended Lynden Christian Grade School and graduated from Lynden High School in 1936. He then moved to Minnesota in 1957 and retired in 1979 as president of Green Lake State Bank in Spicer. He is survived by his wife, Willemina; a son, Jackson and wife Joann of Bellingham, Mont.; a daughter, Carol of Minneapolis; three grandsons; two sisters, Henrietta and husband Norman Erickson of Burlington, Wash., Thelma and husband Ray Terpstra of Lynden; two brothers, Harold and wife Ann of Michigan City, Ind., and Howard and wife Lois of Burlington, Wash. SCHUURMAN, Marie - Lynden homemaker Marie Schuurman, formerly of 1713 Front St., passed away early Monday morning, March 19, 1990, at the Christian Rest Home in Lynden. Mrs. Schuurman was 80 years old and had been a resident of the rest home since February. She was born on Nov. 26, 1909 in Holland, the daughter of Marius and Guurtje (VanZyverden) Honcoop. On June 23, 1943, in Vancouver, B.C., she was married to Norman Schuurman and in 1965 they came to Whatcom County from Abbotsford, B.C. Marie was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church and active in its Ladies Aid. She is survived by a son, Philip Schuurman of Ripon, Calif.; a daughter, Ann Bremer of Agassiz, B.C.; two brothers, Maurice Honcoop and John Honcoop, both of Lynden; a sister-in-law, Alice Honcoop of Escalone, Calif. 10 grandchildren and numerous other relatives. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, in 1985. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 22, at Second Christian Reformed Church in Lynden at 1 p.m. with Rev. Louis Kerkstra officiating. He is survived by his wife, Marie, a son, Philip, of Arlington; a daughter, Mrs. Ann Bremer, of Agassiz, B.C.; ten grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Mae Schaart, of Penticton, B.C. SCHUURMANN, Frederick, age 81, of Lynden, passed away Tuesday, September 16, (1947) at a local hospital following a short illness. He had been a resident of Lynden for the past fifteen months, and is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Henry Wissink, Boyden, Iowa, Mrs. Wilbur Kok, Everson, Mrs. Hilbert Bloemendall, Alton, Iowa; two sons, Rev. J. F. Schuurmann, Lynden, J. Henry, Oskaloosa, Iowa; one brother and one sister in Germany, and eleven grandchildren. SCHUYLEMAN, Elizabeth - Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Schuyleman, age 91, who died at the Christian Rest Home on Saturday, April 19, (1986) were conducted on Wednesday, April 23, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Gillies Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Slater officiating. Burial followed in Monumenta Cemetery. Miss Schuyleman, 300 South B.C. Ave., Lynden, was born in Firth, Neb. on Jan. 10, 1895, and moved with her family to Washington in 1897 and then to Lynden in 1898. She was employed as a clerk at the Crescent and then the Lynden Department Store. A 1915 graduate of Lynden High School, Elizabeth was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church and had been active in a number of mission groups in the church. She is survived by her sister, Marie Schuyleman, of Lynden and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Schuyleman, in 1935.
SCHUYLEMAN, James W. (Bud), 70, of Olympia passed away suddenly Friday, May 31, 1991 at Olympia Hospital. Schuyleman was born in the family home southwest of Lynden on July 15, 1920 to John W. and Tillie (Haveman) Schuyleman. He served in the Air Force in the Pacific Ocean theater in World War II. On Oct. 15, 1948 he married Ann Steenwyk of Oak Lawn, Ill. He was Lynden's first television technician. He is survived by his wife Ann at the family home; three sons, John and wife Linda Schuyleman of Kirkland, Jim and wife Debbi Schuyleman of Redmond and Jay and wife Pam Schuyleman of Duvall; two daughters, Lori and husband Ray Harvey of Kent and Lou Ann and husband Joe Bone of Newport, Del.; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Bernie and wife Nella Schuyleman of Lynden and Mel and wife Clara Schuyleman of Burien; three sisters, Gwen Van Wert of Bellingham, Thelma and husband Ted Waschke of Bellingham and Marilyn Schuyleman of Seattle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Bill Van Wert. Burial will take place Thursday at Fall City Cemetery, followed by memorial services at 4 p.m. Thursday at Tacoma Community Christian Reformed Church, with Rev. Rod Vander Ley officiating. SCHUYLEMAN, Marie - A memorial service was conducted on Thursday, Sept. 22, 1988, at the Chapel of Gillies Funeral Home, with pastor Ron Slater officiating, for Marie Schuyleman, age 87, of 300 South B.C. Avenue, Lynden, who passed away at her home on Monday, Sept. 19,(1988). Marie was born in Lynden on August 19, 1901, to Peter and Ella Schuyleman. Along with her mother and father and sisters, Marie helped farm 40 acres on the Guide Meridian and Badger roads. She was educated at the old Sunshine School on West Badger Road. After the death of her father she moved to her B.C. Avenue residence and became a charter member of Second Christian Reformed Church in 1921 when Rev. Abel Brink was doing Home Missions work here. She was very active in the missions society and Ladies' catering services. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Elsie, in 1935 and Elizabeth in 1986. She is survived by numerous cousins and friends. Burial preceded the memorial service at Monumenta Cemetery. Services were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.

She is survived by her parents, Bernie and Nella Schuyleman of Lynden; two brothers, Dennis and wife Valerie of Lynden and Arvin and wife Joann of Baltimore, Maryland; two sisters, Mrs. Arlene and husband Paul Parish and Mrs. Lois and husband Dave Sturtz, all of Lynden; her fiancé, Robert Sharp of Everson; grandmothers, Mrs. Tillie Schuyleman and Mrs. Tena Haak, both of Lynden; and 14 nieces and nephews. She is survived by three sons, James and wife Ann of Olympia; Bernard and wife Nella of Lynden, and Melvin and wife Clara of Burien; three daughters, Mrs. Gwendolyn Van Wert and Mrs. Thelma and husband Ted Waschke, all of Bellingham, and Marilyn Schuyleman of Seattle; 21 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Hermina (Kok) Vogel of Lynden; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Maggie Haveman of Lynden; and numerous other relatives. SCHUYLER, Carl P., age 78, 2726 Alderwood Ave., Bellingham, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 13, 1990. He was born Feb. 21, 1911, in Lynden and was a longtime resident of Whatcom County. He was retired as a deliveryman for Standard Oil. He spent most of his time working locally, but also worked for a short time in Aberdeen. He was a member of B.P.O.E. and Teamsters Union Local No. 231. He is survived by a sister, Irene Sprague of Everson; a brother, Frank Schuyler of Bellingham; a half-brother, Ray Pierce of Bellingham; a half-sister, Ruth Nelson of Everson; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Schuyler, in December 1988. Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 16, at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Rex Watt officiating. SCHUYLER, Jeanette - Whatcom County native Jeanette Schuyler, 71, of Lynden, died of a heart ailment Friday in Bellingham. She was born Aug. 17, 1916, in Whatcom County. Survivors include a sister, Irene Sprague of Everson; and two brothers, Carl and Frank Schuyler, both of Bellingham. Mrs.(sic) Schuyler's body was buried Saturday in Lynden Cemetery. SCHUYLER, Martha, age 78 of 2726 Alderwood Ave., Bellingham passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 1988 in Bellingham. Mrs. Schuyler was born Oct. 15, 1910 in Bigelow, MN. She was a Bellingham resident most of her life. Mrs. Schuyler retired after 25 yrs. as a clerk for JC Penney's Dept. Stores in B'ham & Aberdeen. She was a member of the Retail Clerks Union Local No. 240. Mrs. Schuyler is survived by her husband Carl. They were married in Whatcom County Dec. 15, 1933. She is also survived by her brother John Slikker Jr., of Ukiah, CA; & sister Gertie Nicolaas of Ferndale & Mrs. Tena Giarde of Bellingham; & numerous nieces & nephews. A graveside service will be held Monday, Dec. 19, 1 p.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park with coffee hour following at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Chaplain Rex Watt. Arrangements are being handled by Greenacres Funeral Home.
