SCHNABEL, David Gene - A memorial service for David Gene Schnabel, formerly of Bellingham, will be at 3 p.m. today at Our Redeemer Church in Kirkland. Mr. Schnabel died Thursday, July 11, 1996, at his home in Marysville. He was 61. Born June 3, 1935, to Erwin and Thelma Schnabel in Orofino, Idaho, he graduated from Bellingham High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 15 years in Korea and Vietnam and worked as a machinist welder for Birmingham Steel in Seattle for 11 years. A resident of Kirkland for 26 years, Mr. Schnabel recently moved to Marysville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and cooking. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, in April. Survivors include sons Gary Schnabel of Oak Harbor, Richard Schnabel of Shelton, Loren Schnabel of Kirkland and Peter Schnabel of Spokane; daughters Fran Heath of Lynnwood and Davina Schnabel of Kirkland; sister Sara Church of Kirkland; 11 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Bleitz of Bellevue.

SCHNABEL, Erwin W., Jr., age 49 of Everett, died Sat., Sept. 27, 1980 in an Everett hospital. He was born June 11, 1931 in Lewiston, Idaho and lived in Bellingham before moving to the Everett-Snohomish area 25 years ago. He was a member of the Everett Dummy CB Club and went by the handle of "Sheep Herder". He is survived by his wife, Ada of Everett; his children; Terrie Whidden of Forks, Washington; Barry, Debbie & Timothy Schnabel, all of the family home; his mother, Thelma Schnabel of Bellingham; a sister Sara Church, a brother David Schnabel, both of Kirkland; 2 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wed., Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. in the Bauer Funeral Chapel, Snohomish with burial in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Snohomish.

SCHNABEL, Erwin W. (Ernie), age 59, of 422 S. W. 153rd St., Seattle, passed away suddenly in that city Tuesday, March 27, (1962). Mr. Schnabel had formerly resided in Bellingham for 24 years where he had been employed at the Shipyard and also Martin Plumbing, and for the past three years had resided in Seattle where he had been employed by the Highline Plumbing and Heating Co. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Local No. 32, and was a past president of the Bellingham Boat Owners Association. Surviving relatives are his widow, Rose, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Allen Church of Seattle; two sons, Cpl. David G. Schnabel, U.S.MC, stationed at Oceanside, Calif.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Raymond W. Craker of Bellingham, and Miss Patricia Johnson of Seattle; one step-son, Steven Johnson of Bellingham; eight grandchildren; one brother, Walter Schnabel, Lewiston, Idaho; two sisters, Mrs. Earl Moody, Lewiston, Idaho; Mrs. John Johnson, Lewiston, Idaho; nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Pastor E. E. Olsenius on Monday, April 2, at 1 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View Cemetery.

SCHNABEL, Thelma S. died Sunday, July 18, 1993, in Kirkland. She was 87. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Garden Street United Methodist Church in Bellingham with the Rev. Marta Schellberg officiating. Private family graveside services will be held at Bayview Cemetery. She was born Sept. 26, 1905, in Wells, Kan., to Raymond and Sarah Comfort. A Bellingham resident for 52 years, Mrs. Schnabel worked as a licensed practical nurse for many years. She was a member of Garden Street United Methodist Church. Mrs. Schnabel moved to Kirkland three years ago. She was preceded in death by son Erwin Schnabel in 1982. Survivors include a daughter Sara E. Church of Kirkland; a son David G. Schnabel, also of Kirkland; sisters Faye Pearson of Bellingham and Marie Lacey of Clarkston; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. SCHNACKENBERG, Brenda, age 24 and Michelle age 16 1/2 months, passed away Sunday, February 12, 1984. Brenda had been a resident of Whatcom County most of her lifetime, was a member of the Ferndale Seventh Day Adventist Church, a graduate of the Auburn Academy, and attended Walla Walla College and was presently attending the Cascade College. She is survived by her parents, LaVern and Eva Lynn Schnackenberg of Ferndale; 3 brothers, Brian of Custer, Randy and Tony, both of Ferndale; 4 sisters, Sue Turner of Lynden, Kimra, Carmen and Cathryn Schnackenberg, all of Ferndale, her grandmother, Hulda Schnackenberg of Custer; numerous other relatives. Michelle was born in Bellingham and is survived by her grandparents and aunts and uncles as listed above. Funeral services for Michelle and Brenda will be conducted by Pastor Harry White Wednesday, February 15, 3:00 p.m. in the Ferndale Seventh Day Adventist Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at Moles Funeral Home Wednesday, 9 a.m.-noon.

SCHNACKENBERG, Edwin August, age 85, of Ferndale, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 1993. He lived at the Aldergrove Adult Family Home the last four years. A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1993 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 119 Texas St., with Pastor Shatz officiating. Edwin was born to August and Anna Schnackenberg, Feb. 25, 1908 in Deshler, Nebraska where he attended Kiowa School. He served in the Asiatic Pacific in WWII; was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bellingham Senior Center and the Senior Center Hiking Club. He came to Whatcom County in 1946 and farmed for many years. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Martin and Otto, and sister, Erna. Survivors are his sister-in-law, Hulda Schnackenberg; cousin, Laura Carr of Bellingham; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins of Bellingham, Idaho, and Nebraska. The arrangements are under the direction of The Jerns LeVeck Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.

SCHNACKENBERG, Martin H., age 70, of 2526 Birch Bay Lynden Rd., Custer, passed away Sunday, June 30, (1974). Mr. Schnackenberg was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Ferndale and had been a resident of Whatcom County for 21 years. He is survived by his wife, Hulda; 3 sons, LaVern and Donald of Ferndale, Darrel of Custer; 4 daughters, Marlene Phillips of Lynden, Kathleen Buckner of San Diego, Karen Copps of Custer, Gayle Leuenberger of Ferndale; 1 brother, Edwin A. of Bellingham; 23 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild, many other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Gary Christensen, Wednesday, July 3 at 1:30 p.m. in the Ferndale Seventh Day Adventist Church. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Moles Funeral Home.

SCHNACKENBERG, Clinton Louis, passed away at birth Saturday, March 8, 1958 in a local hospital. Surviving relatives include the parents, Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Schackenberg of Seattle, maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hjalmer Andreasen of Custer, paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Schnackenberg of Ferndale. Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. Carl Eggers officiating under the direction of the Monroe Funeral Home.

SCHNEIR, Moe of Bellingham died at home Saturday, March 15, 1997. He was 85. He was born and raised in New York and lived on Long Island for many years. Mr. Schneir worked as a general manager for Gertz Department Stores and as chief pharmacist at A. Holly Patterson Home in New York. He served as guest lecturer on pharmacology at St. John's University. After moving to Bellingham, Mr. Schneir received a degree from Fairhaven College. He enjoyed trips to China, Europe, Israel, Alaska and the Olympic Peninsula. Mr. Schneir was a member of Beth Israel Synagogue, Knights of Pythias, Rex Lodge in New York, Columbia University College of Pharmacy Alumni Association and a 50-year member of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists. Survivors include his wife, Gertrude, daughters Dara Moskowitz of San Rafael, Calif., and Stacey Carp of Sacramento, Calif., son Peter Schneir of Huntington, N.Y., and eight grandchildren. Arrangements are by Jerns-LeVeck Funeral Chapel.

SCHNITZLER, Lila Alexis, age 79, of 1509 E. Victor St., passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, March 1, (1960). Mrs. Schnitzler had resided in Bellingham her entire life and was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Ruby M. Delcamp and Mrs. Loma E. Gibson, both of Bellingham; seven sons, Claude, of Anchorage, Alaska, Chauncy, of San Mateo, Calif., Robert of Seattle, James, of Kensington, Mo., Harold, of San Mateo, Calif., Victor, of Wenatchee, and Alvin, of Washington, D.C.; 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Coral Cornett, of Bellingham. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. E. Gordon Crider, Friday, March 4, at 3 p.m. Final resting place Bay View Cemetery.

SCHNEIDER, Benedict - When near the goal of his eighty-first birthday and after having lived in Whatcom County for 29 years, death came to Benedict Schneider, a pioneer of the Nooksack Valley, Sunday (Jan. 14, 1912) morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. B. Wilson, 2123 New Street, Bellingham. Mr. Schneider was born in the Canton of Berne, Switzerland. He came to this country in the year 1866 with his family, settling in Illinois, where he resided for four years, moving from there to Missouri. In 1883 the family moved to Whatcom County and settled on a ranch in the Nooksack Valley, six miles north of Ferndale. Since that day the family has continuously lived on the Nooksack Valley farm. SCHNEIDER, Bernice, age 81, formerly of 5507 S. Alaska, Tacoma, passed away in a local rest home Monday, July 31, 1978. A resident of Bellingham since 1975, she was a retired dietician having been employed at Madigan Hospital at Ft. Lewis for 25 years. Surviving are 1 daughter, Mrs. Georgia Kleinschmidt of Sedro Woolley; also 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Graveside funeral services will be held in Greenacres Memorial Park, with Rev. Victor Huseman officiating, Thurs., Aug. 3 at 2:30 p.m. under the direction of Veroske-Jerns Bellingham Chapel.

SCHNEIDER, Betty Jane - Graveside services for Betty Jane Schneider, 61, 3932 Wynn Road, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Bayview Cemetery. Mrs. Schneider died Tuesday (Oct. 21, 1986) in a local hospital. She was born July 11, 1925, in Iron Mountain, Mich., and had been a Bellingham resident for 40 years. Survivors include her husband, Eric, of the family home; a son, Charles Bakker of Rockford, Minn.; two daughters, Cathy Forsman of Bellingham and Marion Patterson of Kent; a brother; two sisters; and four grandchildren. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home.

SCHNEIDER, Billie Hawkins went peacefully to meet her Savior on December 14, 2005, after losing a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. Billie was 87 years old, born April 7, 1918, in Victoria, B.C., Canada, to Anna B. (Moreas) and William C. White. Billie worked for Bornstein Seafood Co. and as a medical secretary in the Bellingham area. She was a Past President of Bellingham Emblem Club No. 489. She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace J. Hawkins in 1988. Billie is survived by her husband Bob Schneider; son Myron Hawkins and wife Donna of Bellingham, daughter Cheryl and husband Charles Holmes of Nevada; stepson Barney Schneider of Bellingham; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2005, at Bayview Cemetery. SCHNEIDER, Christina, 84, a resident of Whatcom County for 53 years, died Sunday, December 31, (1972). She lived at 2001 E. Pole Road until moving to a local nursing home where she resided until her death. Mrs. Schneider was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She is survived by a son, Reinold Schneider of Pole Road; one daughter, Mrs. Stanley Solomon, California; six grandchildren; one brother, Fred Neubauer, Bellingham, and one sister, Helen Mayer, California. Funeral arrangements were directed by Bingham and Jerns Funeral Home.

SCHNEIDER, Christina S., age 94, of 2630 Jaeger St., died Saturday (Dec. 6, 1986). She was born June 7, 1892, in Bismark, N.D. She was a member of the Marietta Grange and the Senior Citizens of Ferndale and Bellingham. Survivors include two daughters, Viola Goodman and Carolina Pitton, both of Bellingham; one sister, Ann Schaffer of Portland, Ore.; five grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Woodlawn Cemetery.

SCHNEIDER, Eleanor R., age 76 of 3121 Squalicum Pkwy., Bellingham passed away July 12, 1990. She was born May 4, 1914 in Holyoke, Mass. She was a member of Fort Myers Congregational United Church of Christ in Fort Myers, Florida where she was very active. She also thoroughly enjoyed caring for her family over the years. She leaves to survive her 2 sons David & his wife Bunny Schneider of Bellingham and Karl & wife Mary Schneider of Anchorage, Alaska; 1 daughter Elsie Rodney of Weston, Mass.; 3 grandchildren and 1 niece Linda Beck of Bellingham. Family services will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton, Connecticut. Local arrangements by Jerns LeVeck Funeral Chapel.

SCHNEIDER, Emmett M., age 83 of 2718 Nevada Street, Bellingham, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 1981. Mr. Schneider was a life time resident of Whatcom County; and a member of the Garden Street United Methodist Church. He was a WWI Marine Corps Veteran; a member of the Kulshan Post, No. 154, American Legion; 40 & 8 Voiture, No. 112; Marine Corps League, WWI Barracks; Allied Veteran Council; and the Washington Blind Association. He is survived by his wife, Gladys; daughters & sons-in-law, Doris & Arthur Wilkinson of Bellingham; Helene & Warren Hawkins of Orangevale, California; Marilyn & Jack Jones of Ontario, California; brothers, Leo Schneider of Oakland, California; Fred Schneider of San Gabriel, California; sisters, Faye Chichester of Bremerton; Mrs. Mason (Barbara) Oxford of Ferndale; Blanche MacKenzie of Laguna Hills, California; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Ed Starr Monday, January 12 at 1:30 p.m. in Moles Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

SCHNEIDER, Eric C. of Bellingham died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997. He was 88. A private service was held. Burial was in Bayview Cemetery. Born March 28, 1908, to Jacob and Olga Flesher Schhneider in Bavaria, he lived in Whatcom County since 1914. During World War II, Mr. Schneider served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He married Betty Atkinson on March 14, 1947. She died in 1986. Mr. Schneider worked as a sausage maker for 50 years, retiring from DeJong's Meat Packing in Lynden in 1981. He was a member of Meat Cutters local No. 44. Survivors include daughters Cathy Forsman of Bellingham and Marion Patterson of Auburn, brother Ewald Schneider of Kelso and one grandchild. Arrangements are by Jones-Moles Funeral Home.

SCHNEIDER, Estelle, age 84 of Sunset City, Arizona, passed away Sun. July 7, 1985. She is survived by 3 sisters, Helen Scheldrup, Pauline Goldade, both of Bellingham; Hildur Kaye of Seattle; 2 brothers, Robert E. Lindsley of Kirkland; A. M. (Bus) Lindsley of Bremerton; many nieces & nephews. Her husband and 2 sisters & 2 brothers preceded her in death. Memorial services will be held Wed., July 10 in Sun City, Arizona. Family committal services will be held Thurs., July 11, 1 p.m. at Greenacres Funeral Home.

SCHNEIDER, Geraldine J., age 78, of 1410 W. North, died Tues. May 9, 1989. She was born Aug. 22, 1910 on Lopez Island, WA. She was a homemaker; past secretary of the Wheel & Keel Yacht Club; a well known square dance & round dance teacher throughout Washington State and she loved to fish & boat in the San Juan Island and named her dog and boat "Salty". She leaves to survive her husband George Schneider of the family home; a son, Barney of Bellingham; a brother, Byron Wood & his wife Geraldine of Bellingham; a sister, Verna Fuller of Bellingham. At the families request there will be no funeral service. Local arrangements thru the Westford Funeral Home.

SCHNEIDER, Gladys L., age 85, of 702 32nd St. Bellingham, passed away Tues., June 16, 1987 in Bellingham. She was born Sept. 6, 1901 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, was a lifetime Whatcom County resident except for a few years in Calif.; a member of the Garden St. United Methodist Church of Bellingham, American Legion Auxiliary and the Past Presidents Organization of the Kulshan Post Auxiliary, and she was preceded in death by her husband Emmett M. in Jan. 1981 and daughter Mae Catherine in 1928. Survivors include 3 daughters, Doris & husband Arthur Wilkinson of Bellingham, Helene & husband Warren Hawkins of Auburn, CA, Marilyn & Jack Jones of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Hal Dahlen of Saratoga, CA; numerous other relative. Memorial services will be held at the Garden St. United Methodist Church Fri., June 19th, 2 p.m. with Rev. Roger Johnson officiating. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements by Moles Funeral Home.

SCHNEIDER, Jason Lee, 20, former Whatcom County resident, died Thursday (Mar. 31, 1988) in a motorcycle accident in Santa Cruz, Calif. He had attended public schools in Blaine and Bellingham. Survivors include his mother, Jeannette Mitchell of Smartville, Calif.; his father, Jerry Schneider and sister, Michelle Schneider, both of Burlington; and grandparents Kelly and Vesper Schneider of Blaine and Fred and Shirley Bergman of Bellingham. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Roller, Hapgood and Tinney Funeral Home in Palo Alto, Calif.

SCHNEIDER, Leopold H., age 89 of Route 1, Everson, passed away at home Tuesday, December 20, (1966). A resident of Whatcom County since 1919. He was a retired machinist and blacksmith. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Bellingham. Surviving are his wife, Christina, 1 son, Reinhold of Everson, 1 daughter, Mrs. Stanley Solomon of San Francisco, 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden Friday December 23 at 2 p.m. Rev. Carl O. Fischer officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

SCHNEIDER, Reinhold H., age 69 of 1566 E. Hemmi Rd., Everson, passed away in a Bellingham hospital Thursday, July 29, 1982. A retired farmer, Mr. Schneider was born in Hebron, N. Dakota and had been a county resident for the past 65 years. He was a member of the Laurel Community Baptist Church and was married to his wife Genevieve in Lynden on Nov. 1, 1940. Survived by his wife Genevieve; 4 sons, Bill and wife Sharon, Ken & wife Jeanie, Don & wife Jackie all of Everson & Bob & wife Joy of Lynden; 10 grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Claire Solomon of San Carlos, Calif.; numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 2, at 2 p.m. in the Laurel Community Baptist Church with Rev. Benham Pruett officiating. Private family interment will precede in the Ten Mile Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.

SCHNEIDER, Vesper L. - A graveside service for Vesper L. Schneider of Blaine will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Blaine Cemetery. Mrs. Schneider died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at a Bellingham convalescent center. She was 81. Born Oct. 4, 1919, in Nooksack to Carl and Ada Brown, she lived in Whatcom County for most of her life. Her husband, Kelly Schneider, preceded her in death in 1998. She is survived by sons Jerry Schneider of Mount Vernon and Bill Schneider of San Diego, brother Vernon Brown of Bellingham, two granddaughters and two great-grandsons. Arrangements are by Jones-Moles Funeral Home.

SCHNORBUSS, Frank P., age 91, Van Zandt, passed away Monday, December 7, (1964) in a local rest home. Mr. Schnorbuss had been a resident of the Van Zandt community nearly his entire lifetime. Surviving relatives include 1 nephew, Irvin Jennings, Mountlake Terrace; 2 cousins, Mrs. Loretta Fitzwater and Mrs. George Hastin, both of Bellingham. Graveside services will be conducted Friday, December 11, at 2 p.m. at Van Zandt Cemetery under the direction of the Moles Funeral Home. Rev. Joseph Shaffer, pastor of the Van Zandt Community Church will officiate.
