SAMMONS, Mabel, age 76 of 2807 Meridian St. B'ham, passed away in B'ham Dec. 24, (1988). She was born Jan. 26, 1912 in Council Bluff, IA & moved to B'ham 2 yrs. ago. She attended the First Presbyterian Church. Survivors are her husband Paul D. Sammons of B'ham; son Duane Sammons of B'ham; 3 daughters, Marilyn Brookman & Janet Allyn of CA, Carol Davis of Friday Harbor; 2 brothers, Richard Ellis of Seattle, Don Ellis of IA; sister Doris of IA; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thurs. at Jerns LeVeck Funeral Chapel with burial at Greenacres Cemetery. Under the direction of Jerns LeVeck Funeral Chapel & Crematorium.

SAMMONS, Paul D. - A funeral for Paul D. Sammons of Bellingham will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Jern-LeVeck Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Murphy officiating. Mr. Sammons of 1509 E. Victor St. died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 1994, in Bellingham. He was 86. Born Nov. 15, 1907, in Lincoln, Neb., he lived in Seattle for 40 years and worked as an engineer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He moved to Bellingham 10 years ago. He attended First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Sammons, in December 1988. Survivors include son Duane Sammons of Bellingham; daughters Carol Davis of Friday Harbor, and Marilyn Brookman, and Janet Allyn, both of Arizona; sister Katherine Burke of Tacoma; and numerous other relatives.

SAMPLE, Oscar, age 77, of 2720 McLeod Road, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, May 10, (1956). Mr. Sample had resided in this community for the past 36 years and leaves to survive one brother, Quinter Sample of Council Grove, Kan., and one sister, Mrs. Edith Emisger of Pueblo, Colo. The remains were forwarded under the direction of the Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home to the Block Funeral Home at Council Grove, Kans., for services and interment.

SAMPSON, Arthur V., resident of Packwood, Wa. died Jan. 18, 1982 at the Morton Hospital. He was born on April 8, 1905 in Rockspring, Wyoming. He had lived for many years in Bellingham & worked as a painting contractor. He was a member of the Painters Union No. 924, the Elks Club of Bellingham, the High Valley Country Club, St. James Presbyterian Church in Bellingham & the Packwood Presbyterian church. He is survived by his wife Jeanette at the home; daughter Mrs. Arnold (Diana) Thrasher of Seattle; son & daughter-in-law Richard & Mary Sampson of Piedmont, Calif.; 4 grandchildren; 1 sister, Mrs. Hazel Kingen of Coupeville, Wa.; 2 brothers, Edwin Sampson of Seattle, Emil Sampson of Bellingham; numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sat. Jan. 23 at the Packwood Presbyterian Church at 1 p.m. with Rev. George Merrin officiating. Inturnment will be held at Greenacres Memorial Park at a later date. SAMPSON, Camille I., age 96 years, of Lynden, passed away in a local hospital, Oct. 22nd, (1952) following a lingering illness. She had been a resident of Whatcom County since 1919. Mrs. Sampson is survived by two daughters, Idella Burt, of Plymouth, Mass., Mrs. Dan Aldrich, Lynden; one son, Lester, Bellingham; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Arthur Burgess, of Plymouth, Mass.; two nieces of Plymouth, Mass. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 25th, at 2 p.m. from the Nooksack Advent Christian Church with the Rev. Noral Richardson and Rev. Joe Tom Tate officiating. Interment Greenacres Memorial Park under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden.

SAMPSON, Emil F., age 87, formerly of 1058 Marine Dr., Bellingham, died Wed. March 28, (1990) in Bellingham. He was born March 24, 1903 in Rock Springs, WY and was employed for Portland Cement co. until his retirement in 1968. Mr. Sampson was a member of the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred in July, 1988, a sister Hazel Kingen, 4 brothers, Arthur, Oscar, Edwin & Charles Sampson, all of Bellingham. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Verle & husband Lawrence Bloomer of Berkley, CA; a stepdaughter-in-law, Gertrude Davis and numerous nieces & nephews. Graveside service will be held Tues. April 3, 10 a.m. at Bayview Cemetery with Rev. Leonard C. Ericksen officiating. Arrangements Jones Funeral Home.

SAMPSON, Emma, formerly 2420 Grant Street, age 91, passed away Tuesday, May 31, (1966). A fifty-nine year resident of this city, Mrs. Sampson was a member of the Lutheran Church. Survivors are four sons, Arthur, Oscar and Emil of this city, and Edwin of Seattle; a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Kingen, Seattle, and four grandchildren. Services will be conducted by Pastor Raymond E. Pflueger Friday, June 3 at 1 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bay View Cemetery.

SAMPSON, Eva - Funeral services for Eva Sampson, age 84, of 257 N. Garden will be Wed. May 8, 1 p.m. Advent Christian Church with Rev. Al Currier, officiating. Interment Nooksack Cemetery. Mrs. Sampson passed away Sun. May 5, 1985. A member of Advent Christian Church, she was raised in Nooksack, graduating from Nooksack High School and has been a resident of Bellingham most of her life. SAMPSON, Joseph I., of Lynden, former resident of Portland, Oregon, passed away Sunday, April 22, (1945) at the age of 64 years. Mr. Sampson leaves to mourn, three daughters, Miss Katherine Sampson, of Pittsburgh, Pa., Mrs. Agnes Peterson, of Boston, Mass., Mrs. Lydia Pullen, of Lewiston, Maine; four sons, Major George L. with the U.S. army in Washington, D.C., Captain Joseph R. with the U.S. army overseas, Master Sergeant John P. with the U.S. army in Nebraska, and Henry, at Boston, Mass.; his mother, Mrs. Camille Sampson, of Lynden; two sisters, Mrs. Idella Burt, of Plymouth, Mass., Mrs. Lola Aldrich and one brother, Henry L., both of Lynden; also six grandchildren. Private funeral services were conducted Wednesday, April 25, at 10 a.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden with Rev. A. Crouse, of Nooksack, officiating. Interment, Greenacres Memorial Park.

SAMPSON, Matilda, age 81, of 6001 Lawrence Rd., Everson, passed away Tues. Feb. 9, (1988) in a local hospital. She was a member of Nooksack Tribe and Nooksack Senior Citizens. Survived by Joe Louie, companion, of Everson; half-brother Frank Hawley; nieces Charlene Swanaset, Marilyn Thomas, Althea Sampson, Lois Louie, all of Everson, Marion Jefferson, Lummi, Judy Kelly, Vancouver, B.C.; nephews, Clyde Thomas, Cliff Thomas, Robert Kelly and James Kelly, all of Everson, Clifford Kelly, Bellingham, Gordon Kelly, Deming, Norman Kelly, Bellingham. SAMPSON, Mildred Shetler - Graveside service for Mildred Shetler Sampson, age 97, of 1058 Marine Dr., will be Tues. July 12, 10 a.m., Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. A lifetime Whatcom County resident, she is survived by her husband Emil F. Sampson of City; daughter, Verle & husband Lawrence Bloomer of Berkeley, CA; 2 sisters, Frances Quante of Seattle and Dollie Headrick of Hemet, CA; daughter in law, Gertrude Davis of City; 2 grandsons, Dr. Richard Bloomer of Kensington, CA & Master Sgt. SAMPSON, Oscar A., age 79 of 2108 Franklin St., passed away at his home Wed., April 20, (1977). A retired construction worker, he had been a life time resident of the Bellingham area. He was a member of the FOE Lodge No. 31 and Laborers Local No. 276. Surviving are his wife, Virginia; 3 brothers, Emil and Arthur both of Bellingham and Ed of Seattle; a sister, Hazel Kingen of Coupeville; 1 stepson, Craig Benner of Likley, B.C. and 1 step daughter, Judy Forbes of Bellingham; also 4 nieces and nephews. SAMPSON, William, age 79, of Route 2, Everson, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, Feb. 13, (1958) following an extended illness. Mr. Sampson had been a lifetime resident of the community and was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Goshen Methodist Church. He leaves to survive two daughters, Mrs. Angus Thoma and Miss Matilda Sampson, both of Route 2, Everson and one son, George Sampson of this city; 3 grandchildren and many other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Feb. 17 at 10:30 a.m. within the chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Rev. M. Dodsworth officiating. Interment Goshen Cemetery.

SAMS, Karol L., age 22, originally from Waterford, Hertfordshire, England. She was a member of the Church of England and leaves to survive her parents, Alan & Margaret Sams of England; 3 sisters, Susan, Julie, Nicola of the family home in England. SAMSON, Gertrude J. - A memorial service for Gertrude J. Samson, 82, of the St. Francis Extended Health Care facility in Bellingham will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton. Mrs. Samson, formerly of Seattle, died Wednesday (June 13, 1990). She was born Dec. 8, 1907, in Seattle, and had lived in Bellingham for three years. Survivors include her son, Gerald Samson of Renton; daughter, Karen Boeckler of Vancouver, B.C.; and three grandchildren. Arrangements are by Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.

SAMSON, Leona, age 44 of 1311 Bancroft St., passed away Monday, January 31, (1966). Survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Jefferson, 1 daughter, Alicia, 2 brothers, Ernest and Anthony, 3 sisters, Mrs. Ethel DeCoutau, Mrs. Annie Charles and Mrs. Dorothy Morris. SAMSONIA, Alexander, age 50, of New York City, passed away suddenly Wednesday, August 23, (1950). Mr. Samsonia was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. army. Services were conducted at the Westford-Beck Funeral Home, Monday, August 28. Cremation.

SAMUALSON, Sam, age 77, of Friday Harbor, Wash., passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, May 23, (1951) following a short illness. Mr. Samualson had been a resident of Friday Harbor for the past 45 years. Survivors include a number of relatives in Norway and a close friend, Etta England, of Friday Harbor. Services will be conducted Friday, May 25, at 11:30 a.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home with the Rev. Alvin S. Hansen, pastor of St. Mark's Lutheran Church officiating. SAMUALSON, Theresa, age 76, passed away in a Blaine Rest Home, Monday, Nov. 14, 1960. Mrs. Samualson was born Feb. 17, 1884, in Norway. In 1926 Mrs. Samualson came to the Blaine area from St. Paul, Minn., and worked as a nurse and mid wife for 20 years in this area. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. G. B. Saulsberry of Kennewick, Wash.; two brothers, Rev. Otto Fillinger of Two Harbors, Minn., and Fred Fillinger of Nanaimo, B.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Weber of New Westminster, B.C., Mrs. Alma Watson of Shelton, Wash., and Mrs. Dagney Mykleby of Minong, Wis., also two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. in the McKinney Funeral Home in Blaine with the Rev. Ernst Nygaard officiating. Cremation will follow.

SAMUELSON, Byron, age 71 of Point Roberts passed away in a local hospital Saturday, Aug. 4, (1962) following and extended illness. He moved to Point Roberts in 1894 and had since made his home there. He was a member of the Northwest Grange of Point Roberts. Surviving are numerous cousins including Julius Samuelson of Bellingham, Ted Samuelson of Seattle, Ernie Sigurdson and Dr. Victor Sivertz both of Seattle and Gus Sivertz of Vancouver, B.C. Funeral services will be held in the Point Roberts Lutheran Church Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ernie T. Loreen officiating. Burial will follow in the Point Roberts Cemetery under the direction of McKinney Funeral Home of Blaine.

SAMUELSON, Byron A.- Funeral services for Byron A. Samuelson, 64, who died Thursday (Mar. 29, 1962) in Seattle will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the University Unitarian Church there. Mr. Samuelson was born in the Point Roberts area and had taught in Seattle schools since 1915. Survivors include wife, Mayme and two sons, Ralph E. and Byron A., all of Seattle, and two brothers, Theodore E. of Seattle and Jule H. of Bellingham. Services will be directed by Bleitz Funeral Home with cremation to follow.

SAMUELSON, Eggert (Ted), age 82, passed away Mon., Dec. 15, (1975) at the Stafholt Icelandic Home in Blaine, Wa. Beloved father of Rodney J. Samuelson of Bellingham; grandfather of Scott of Seattle and Todd of Bellingham; also 3 nieces and 5 nephews. Mr. Samuelson was born in Victoria, B.C., was brought to Pt. Roberts, Wa. as an infant in 1893. Where he lived until 1922 when he moved to Seattle and remained a resident until moving to Bellingham with his son and family in 1973. Memorial services for relatives and friends to be held in the Trinity Community Church of Pt. Roberts, Wa. Sun., Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ernest Loreen officiating. Also memorial mass to be held in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bellingham, Sun., Dec. 28 with the Rev. Father Corrigan officiating.

SAMUELSON, Frank V. "Vic" 85, 5887 Malloy Ave., a resident of Ferndale since 1960, died Saturday (Dec. 29, 1984) in his Ferndale home. He was born March 22, 1899, in Tacoma. He had been an electrician before he retired. He was a member of the Triumph Lutheran Church in Ferndale. He is survived by his wife, three sons, one brother, four sisters, three stepdaughters, 18 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, five step grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Triumph Lutheran Church in Ferndale, the Rev. Ronald Knutson officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Cromwell Cemetery near Gig Harbor. Arrangements are by Moles Funeral Home, Ferndale. [He is the son of the pioneer family of Frank W. Samuelson who came from Sweden & his mother from Norway.]

SAMUELSON, Helga, age 86, of Point Roberts, passed away in Blaine, Tuesday, April 5, (1949) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Samuelson had been a resident of Point Roberts for the past 53 years. Surviving relatives include one son, Mr. Byron Samuelson of Point Roberts, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 9, at 2 p.m. in the Point Roberts Community Church, with the Rev. Arthur Hanson, of Blaine, officiating. Interment in the Point Roberts Cemetery under the direction of the McKinney Funeral Home of Blaine.

SAMUELSON, Ida M. of 3121 Squalicum Parkway died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1993, in Bellingham. She was 93. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Woodlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Anderson officiating. Born Jan. 1, 1900, in St. Clair, Minn., to Julian and Christine Iverson, she was taken to Norway to live with her grandparents when she was an infant. She returned to the United States in 1915, settling in Bellingham. It was there she married Sam J. Samuelson on Nov. 15, 1919. He preceded her in death in 1942. Mrs. Samuelson was a member of Central Lutheran Church and the Senior Activity Center in Bellingham. She worked at the Bellingham Hotel and the Travelodge. Survivors include daughters Judy Hamilton of Nashville, Tenn., Connie Miller of Lake Stevens and Shirley Pfluger of Bellingham; sister Agnes Anderson of Seattle; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Jones-Moles Funeral Home.

SAMUELSON, Jennie (Aursness), age 91, Ferndale, died June 6, 1993 in Ferndale. She was born Oct. 19, 1901 in Preston, WA, where her parents, Ole and Hannah Melseth had moved from Norway. They moved to Whatcom County in 1905 where they pioneered their farm in the Whitehorn Community. Mrs. Samuelson retired from teachin school in 1966, many of those years in a one-room school in Whitehorn. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edwin Aursness in 1939, and by Frank Samuelson in 1985 whom she married in 1958. She is survived by daughters, Jeanette and husband Douglas Larson, Everett; Helen and husband Robert Burger, Ferndale; Eleanore and husband Lyle Ottem, Seattle; grandchildren, Jim and Greg Larson, Jennifer Ledford, Steven and Randy Burger; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Olga Irwin, Ferndale; Emma Berge, Blaine. One grandson, Jeff Larson, predeceased her. Funeral services will be Friday, June 11, 3:00 p.m. at Triumph Lutheran Church. Rev. Leonard Ericksen will perform the service. Burial will follow at Enterprise Cemetery. Visitation hours 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wed. and Thurs. June 9 and 10 at Moles Funeral Home.

SAMUELSON, Jonas, age 80 years, passed away at the home of his son, Julius, 2011 Eldridge Avenue, Wednesday, August 13, (1947) following a lingering illness. He is a former resident of Point Roberts, but resided in Bellingham for the past six years. He is survived by three sons, Theodore E. and Byron A., of Seattle, and Julius H., of Bellingham; five grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Sigurdson, of Seattle, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held Saturday, August 16, at 1 p.m. in the Point Roberts Community Church, under the direction of the McKinney Funeral Home of Blaine, with the Rev. K. Simundson officiating. Cremation will follow.

SAMUELSON, Julius Hafstein, age 80 of 386 Tyee Rd., Pt. Roberts, Wa. passed away at home Sat., Nov. 8, (1975). A life time resident of Pt. Roberts and Bellingham he was well known throughout Whatcom County for his musical activities. A member of the Trinity Community Church of Pt. Roberts, Pt. Roberbts Grange and Senior Citizen Center. Surviving wife, Lora at home; 2 daughters, Lola Loreen of Pt. Roberts, Lynda Blakely of Seattle; a brother, Theodore of Blaine; also 8 grandchildren and 3 nephews. Funeral services to be held in the Trinity Community Church of Pt. Roberts, Tues., Nov. 11 at 1:30 p.m. with The Revs. Ernest Loreen with Wilton Ernest officiating. Burial will follow in the Pt. Roberts Cemetery Under the direction of Veroske's McKinney Funeral Home.

SAMUELSON, Laura J., of 386 Tyee Rd., Pt. Roberts, age 77, died Fri., Nov. 23, 1979. She was a registered nurse & has worked in local hospitals from 1941 until 1964. She was a member of the Trinity Church of Pt. Roberts and attended the Central Lutheran Church of Bellingham for many years. Her husband Julius preceded her in death in 1975. She is survived by 2 daughters, Lola Loreen of Pt. Roberts, Lynda Blakely of Seattle, grandchildren, Robin Holland, Dana McKee, Valerie Loreen, Erica Loreen, Madelyn Loreen, Carl Loreen, Ben Blakely, Carolyn Blakely. Funeral services will be Wed., Nov. 28, 1979 at 3 p.m. in the Trinity Church in Pt. Roberts. Funeral services were under the direction of Veroske, Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel.
