NOAH, Albert, age 62, of 907 High St., passed away in a local hospital Saturday, May 22, (1954). Mr. Noah had resided in this community for the past 16 years and was a retired carpenter and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1585. He leaves to survive one nephew, C. E. Dibert of Yakima. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where private services were conducted by the Rev. NOBACH, Harmke, age 85, formerly of 1843 Front St. Lynden, passed away Sat. Sept. 30, (1978). Born in the Netherlands, Mrs. Nobach moved to Lynden with her husband Herman from Holland in 1930. Mr. Nobach passed away in 1969. A member of the First Christian Reformed Church, she is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Martha Houg and Mrs. Cobie Holleman, both of Lynden, 2 sons, Henry of Garden Grove, Calif., & Herman Jr. of Marysville, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth Hazenberg of Edmonds and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday Oct. 3 at 1 p.m. in the First Christian Reformed Church, Rev. Arie Leegwater officiating. Burial will follow in Monumenta Cemetery. NOBACH, Marie Johanna of Ferndale died Friday, April 25, 1997, at Pioneer Ridge Healthcare. She was 83. A private service will be held. Her ashes will be placed in Monumenta Cemetery. Born Nov. 8, 1913, to Henry and Hattie Haveman Brunink in Lynden, she returned to Whatcom County four years ago. Survivors include her brother Harold Brunink of Olympia, sister Tilda Schenk of Sacramento, Calif., and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Greenacres Funeral Home.

NOBLE, Benjamin A., age 69, who resided in Oroville, Wash., passed away in that city Wednesday, March 6, (1957). Mr. Noble had resided in Bellingham from 1897 to 1915 and was employed at the Larson Mill, having returned to Bellingham in 1953 for two years. He was a World War I veteran. He leaves to survive, 2 brothers, Frank and Arthur of Oroville, 2 sisters, Mrs. Bertha Osborne and Mrs. Eva Perringer, both of Olympia. Rev. George Ackley will officiate at graveside services in Bayview Cemetery on Monday, March 11 at 10 a.m. under the direction of the Barnes Funeral Home of Oroville.

NOBLE, Cody Tyler, age 12, of Ferndale, died suddenly Wed., January 15, 1997. Born Dec. 5, 1984 in Bellingham to Don "Bode" and Debbie Noble, he was a student at Meridian Middle School. A member of Mt. Baker Motorcycle Club, his first love was motocross which he shared with a special friend Keil Krogstad and others. A motocross champion and outstanding school citizen, Cody's hobbies also included golf, camping, basetball, football, fishing and swimming. Cody is survived by his parents, Debbie and Don "Bode" Noble; brother Shane of Ferndale and sister, Lindsi of the family home; grandparents, Ellen Handy and Jim Larson of Burlington, Helen Noble of Sumas, Gene and Charlene Curtiss of CA. Also surviving are Aunt Linda and Uncle Art Hahn of Bellingham, Uncle Gary and Aunt Stephanie Curtiss of Alaska, Aunt Lynn and Uncle Bob Bezona of Ferndale, Uncle Bill "Nibs" and Aunt Linda Noble of Auburn, WA, and many cousins who Cody loved very much and enjoyed spending time with each and everyone of them. Cody had many friends and will be missed by all his family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ the King Church, 4600 Guide Meridian, on Wed. NOBLE, Edna M., 84, 3121 Squalicum Parkway, died Wednesday in Bellingham. Born Aug. 16, 1900, in Michigan, she moved to Bellingham in 1923. She was a member of the Salvation Army and Daughters of America. She is survived by one son, Andy Noble of Bellingham; one grandson; and three great-grandchildren. A retired longshoreman, Mr. Noble was a member of International Longshoreman's Union Local No. 19. He was a US Army WWII veteran. NOBLE, Emma, age 57, of 219 N. Commercial Street, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, April 26, (1947). NOBLE, Frances Fred, age 72, of 1501 Roeder Street, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, July 1, (1953). Mr. Noble had resided in this community for the past 30 years, and was a retired carpenter. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Edna May Noble, at the home; two sons, Edward M. and Andrew D., both of Bellingham; three grandchildren; a brother, Horace A., of Seattle; and four sisters, Mrs. Olive Dickson, of Ashton, Idaho, Mrs. Josephine Miller of Crow Agency, Montana, Mrs. Gertrude Vessie, and Mrs. Myrtle McDonald, both of Seattle. NOBLE, Helen B., life-long Sumas resident, died at St. Joseph Hospital on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004. She was 77. Visitation hours will be from 1 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 11:00 a.m. in the Sumas Advent Christian Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in Sumas Cemetery.
Helen was the daughter of Chancey & Josephine (Hovel) Wells and was born on March 26, 1926. She graduated from Sumas High School in 1944 and on March 19, 1948 was married to William Noble in Sumas. Helen worked for many years as a waitress at Spuds Restaurant in Sumas and also managed the Minor League Hockey Bingo Hall in Sumas. Besides her membership at the church, Helen was also a member of the Sumas American Legion Post #212 Auxiliary and was active at the Sumas Senior Center. She enjoyed gardening, was an avid Mariners fan and enjoyed watching her sons and grandson race motorcycles. She was preceded by her husband in 1993, a grandson Cody Noble, sister Loreen Harmon and is survived by her sons Bill Noble and companion Linda Rasmussen of Sumner and Don and wife Debbie Noble of Ferndale; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters Rowena Stapp of Steward, FL and Josephine 'Toot' Jensen of Bellingham; brothers Gerald Wells of Bellingham and Leonard 'Sonny' Wells of Auburn and numerous other relatives. Services are under the care of Gillies Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Lynden.

NOBLE, Henry B., age 68, of 1812 24th St., passed away in a local hospital Friday, Dec. 9, (1955). Mr. Noble had been a 35-year resident of Whatcom County and was a retired carpenter. NOBLE, Ida Pearl, 89, of 1838 Laurel Road died Saturday (November 7, 1987) in Bellingham. She was born June 4, 1898, in Amhurst, Neb., and had lived in Whatcom County for 70 years. Mrs. Noble was a member of Laurel Baptist Church. Her husband, Calvin, died in 1970. Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. NOBLE, Kenneth LeRoy, age 61 of 4328 Guide Meridian, passed away Thursday, May 20, (1976). Mr. Noble was a retired automobile salesman and trucks manager employed by Diehl Ford for more than 41 years, member of Garden Street Methodist Church, Antique Automobile Restorers Club of Bellingham, BPO Elks No. 194 and a WWII U. S. Army Veteran. NOBLE, Loran, age 65 years, of Silver Beach, passed away at a local hospital, Tuesday, March 25, (1947). Mr. Noble had resided here the past forty-five years and was a member of the Silver Beach Community Church. Surviving relatives are two cousins, Frank and Ben Noble at Oroville, Wash. NOBLE, Marion G. "Steve" of 4881 Samish Way, died Wednesday Aug. 11, 1993, at home. He was 75. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Advent Christian Church, 2100 Broadway, with the Rev. Al Currier officiating. He was born July 15, 1918, in Monmouth, Ill., to Edward and Ida Kniss Noble. Mr. Noble moved to California in 1937, where he worked for Consolidated Steel in Maywood, Calif. He met Florence A. Robinson in Mar Vista, Calif., in 1938. They were married Sept. 14, 1940. Mr. Noble worked as an electrical contractor from 1948 to 1980. He and his wife retired to Bellingham in 1984. Mr. Noble enjoyed sports and building his own home. He was a member of the Lion's Club in Crestline, Calif., and was a longtime member of the Electrical Worker's Union in California. Survivors include his wife of the family home; sons Gary Noble of Lynnwood and Peter Noble of Bellingham; daughters Marian Noble of Tucson, Ariz., Diane Hanson of Columbia Falls, Mont., and Robin Boserup of Goose Creek, S.C.; a sister Evelyn Mefford of Oceanside, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. NOBLES, James J., 92, of Anacortes, died Friday, Feb. 1, (1985) at the Island Hospital in Anacortes. NOLAN, Harris D., age 81 of Bellingham, Whatcom County resident for fifty-five years, died on Friday, January 17, 1997 at Alderwood Convalescent Center. He was born November 5, 1915 in Clayton, WA, to Cloyd and Ida (Wesby) Nolan. He married Hilda Dyck in Deer Park, WA, in 1939. She preceded him in death in 1992. NOLTE, Edward R. - Lynden resident Edward Robert Nolte, Sr., died Friday, Dec. 4, 1992. He was 92. He was born Jan. 13, 1900, in Bellingham, to George and Clara Nolte. He graduated from Washington State University, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He was a member of Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44 F & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, and the First Church of Christ, Scientist of Boston. The Nolte family was a pioneer family in Whatcom County, Mr. Nolte's father, George W. Nolte was one of the founders of Bellingham National Bank. Survivors include his daughter, Louise N. Rightmire of Bellingham; son Edward R. Nolte, Jr., of Bellingham; sister Clara Fassett of Olympia; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. NOLTE, Ernest Eugene, lifetime resident of Whatcom County, passed away November 3, 2002 at his home. He was 82. Ernest was born February 4, 1920 in Everson, WA to Ernest C. and Eva (Pritts) Nolte. He graduated from Mt. Baker High School in 1937 and attended WSU for two years. Ernest married Evelyn Davis Sept. 4, 1940 in North Bend, WA. He lived and worked on the Nolte Holstein Farm until his retirement. He was a member of the Hopewell Grange, Nooksack Advent Christian Church, Skagit Mens Garden Club, WA State Holstein Assoc., WA Wool Growers Assoc., Everson Garden Club, NW Dairymen's Assoc., and WA Farm Forestry. Ernest was the WA State Holstein Assoc. Master Breeder in 1993. He was a Master Gardener, avid bible reader and painter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Ernest Nolte and a son Ernest Bruce Nolte. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Nolte; daughters, Judy and husband Bill McCormick, Mary Nolte; sons, John Nolte and wife Glenna, Steve Nolte and wife Stephanie; a brother, William Nolte and wife Tanya; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Westford Funeral Home 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday. A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2002 at Nooksack Advent Christian Church.

NOLTE, Eva L., Everson resident died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1992, in the Lynden Christian Rest Home. She was 94. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Nooksack Advent Christian Church with the Rev. Carl Crouse officiating. Burial will follow in Bayview Cemetery. She was born Feb. 3, 1898, in Nooksack to William and Lulu Pritts. A 50-year member of Lummi Island Grange, Mrs. Nolte lived on Lummi Island for 40 years until she moved to Everson in 1979. She was a homemaker and a member of Nooksack Advent Christian Church. Her husband, Ernest C. Nolte, preceded her in death on May 5, 1982. Survivors include sons Ernest E. Nolte of Everson and William R. Nolte of Shelton; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. NOLTE, George S. - A private memorial service was held for George S. Nolte Sr. of Sacramento, Calif., formerly of Bellingham. Burial was in Bayview Cemetery. Mr. Nolte died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, in Sacramento. He was 86. Born in 1914 in Bellingham, he moved to the San Francisco Bay area to attend the Polytechnic College of Engineering in Oakland, where he earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 1940. In 1942, he became a commissioned officer for the U. S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps. He served as company commander of Company B (9th Naval Construction Battalion), which fought in the battles o Tinian and Okinawa in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Following his service in the corps, he returned to the Corps of Engineers in San Francisco. In 1942, he met and married Marjorie Anne. In 1949, he founded George S. Nolte, Civil Engineer and Land Surveyor, of Palo Alto, Calif.
Mr. Nolte later was recalled into service during the Korean War. Upon his return, he resumed leadership of the Nolte firm. He worked as a registered engineer and licensed land surveyor. His firm later had offices throughout the West and in Mexico. Mr. Nolte was active in many professional and community organizations and was a lifetime member of American Society of Civil Engineers. In 1995, he was inducted into the Silicon Valley Engineering Hall of Fame in Santa Clara County, Calif. He was a founding member of and served on the Professional Services Management Association Board of Directors and served as a board member and president for many organizations, including the Society of American Military Engineers, Association of Civil Engineers and Land Surveyors of Santa Clara County, Palo Alto YMCA, Peninsula Open Space Trust and Rotary. He also was past president of Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce and served as an advisory-board member for the Stanford Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Following his retirement, he continued to serve his community and was active with the Boys and Girls Club of Monterey, Calif. He also served on the Infrastructure Committee of Pebble Beach, Calif., where he retired in 1984. Survivors include his wife, son George Nolte Jr., daughter Denise Nolte Mattos and four grandchildren.

NOLTE, George V., age 87 of 1509 E. Victor, passed away March 6, 1978. Mr. Nolte was a lifetime resident of this community & a retired contractor. He was a member of Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44 F & AM, and was the son of a pioneer family of this area. In 1921 he purchased the old Kent-Marvin Machine Co. and operated that for a number of years under the name of George V. Nolte Co. Later he purchased the interest from the owners of Whidbey Island Sand & Gravel Co. which he operated in Bellingham for a number of years under the name of George V. Nolte Co. Building Materials, Sand & Gravel. He later consolidated with the old Caine-Grimshaw Co. He sold out his interest there and established a general contracting business under the name of George V. Nolte Co., specializing in sewers, curbs, gutters and paving. He managed the Fraser River Gold Dredge Co. Later he operated the Moses Lake & Columbia Basin under the name of George W. Nolte Construction Co. of Bellingham. He sold out there in 1958 and with Kenneth Dawson operated a general construction company specializing in paving & sewer work throughout Washington State. He retired a number of years ago but maintained a office in the consulting capacity for quite a few years. He is survived by 1 son, George S. Nolte, Pebble Beach, Calif., 2 daughters, Mrs. Marion (Winifred) Keyes of Ketchikan, Alaska, Mrs. Gale (ElizabethAnne) Pfueller, city, 2 brothers, Ernest Nolte of Lummi Island, Edward Nolte of Lacey, Wash., 1 sister, Clara Fassett of Olympia, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. Services were held Wed. March 8, 11 a.m. in Bay View Cemetery. Officers of Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44 officiating. Burial in Bay View under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home.

NOLTE, Jerre K. of Bellingham, Washington, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2007, with her family at her side. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Fred III; her son Fred Nolte IV, wife Alice and daughter Kayla of Stanwood; brother Dale Underhill and wife Linda of Bellingham; sister Jean Buchanon and husband Buck of Coos Bay, Oregon. She had a loving extended family and many friends. She was born on January 19, 1940, to Irene LeMaster and Edward Underhill in Grand Island, Nebraska. Jerre was a long time resident of Whatcom County, and spent winters in Yuma, AZ, where she was well known for her fabulous Christmas decorations that were enjoyed by everyone. She loved to travel around the country in her bus, but always enjoyed coming home to her wonderful view of Mt. Baker and Bellingham Bay. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 10 in the Bakerview Chapel at the funeral home (Lakeway & Woburn).

NOLTE, Lora Fern, 73, of 2257 Lummi Shore Road, died Wednesday (Nov. 22, 1989) at home. Mrs. Nolte was born Lora Eddington on Jan. 10, 1916, in Joplin, Mo. She had been a Bellingham resident for more than 40 years. She married Fred Nolte Jr. in 1936. At the family's request there will be no services. Cremation is by Greenacres Crematorium. Survivors include her husband, of the family home; two sons, Fred Nolte III and Richard Nolte, both of Bellingham; three brothers, Wayne Eddington of San Diego, Calif., Charlie Eddington of Osage, Kansas, and Bill Eddington of Pahrump, Nev.; her sister, Jane Roberts of Bellingham; and numerous other relatives. NOLTE, Myra, a resident of the Bellingham National Bank Building, passed away at a local hospital Wednesday morning, February 8, (1950) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Nolte had been a lifelong resident of Bellingham and was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church, the Amaranth, Bellingham Council No. 25; the Daughters of the Nile, and the Business and Professional Woman's Club. NOLTE, Phyllis Virginia, passed away in Victoria, B.C. June 2, 1989, age 61 years. NONDORF, Roy B., age 57 of 1353 Meridian Road, passed away suddenly at a local hospital Saturday, September 16, (1950). Mr. Nondorf was a member of I.O.O.F. Lodge of Anacortes, the Carpenters Union, Local No. 756 and was employed as a millright at the Mt. Baker Plywood. NONHOFF, Martha, age 59 of 406 E. Grover, Lynden, passed away in a Bellingham hospital Thursday, May 19, (1960). Born in Kansas October 19, 1900, Mrs. Nonhoff had made her home there until moving to Lynden in 1948. She was a member of the Third Christian Reform Church of Lynden. Surviving are her husband, William, 2 sons, Robert and Dale, both of Lynden; one daughter, Wilma Nonhoff of Chicago; 3 brothers, Gerret Navis of Chester, Nebraska, Harry Navis of Phillipsburg, Kansas, John Navis of Denver, Colorado; also 6 grandchildren. NONHOFF, Roger Brent, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Gerald Nonhoff of Lynden, passed away in a local hospital Friday, June 7, (1957). Besides his parents he is survived by grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Harlander and Mr. and Mrs. William Nonhoff, great grandfather, Arie Vaner Hoek Sr., and great grandmother, Mrs. Amelia Lowrey, all of Lynden. NOOMEN, Peter C., age 75, of 1231 Franklin St., passed away at his home, Monday, Jan. 21, (1963) following an extended illness. A native of North Dakota, he was a retired farmer and had made his home in Whatcom County the past 10 years. He attended the Revival Tabernacle. NOON, Irene G., age 77, of 1311 Garden Street, passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, March 13, (1951). Mrs. Noon had been a resident of this community for many years and had been a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist. Surviving relatives are one son, Raymond B., of Seattle; one daughter, Mrs. Myrta May Kaigler, of Richland, Wash.; one sister, Mrs. R. O. NOONAM, Earl A., age 74. Resided at 3082 North Shore Dr. passed away at a local hospital Nov. 29, (1979). He had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 8 years. NOORDELOOS, Cornelius, age 70, of 1104 Abbott Rd., Lynden passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 8th, (1984). A retired farmer, Mr. Noordeloos was born in Montana on April 12, 1913, and was a member of the Everson Christian Reformed Church; also active in Wiser Lake Chapel. He was married to Bessie Ooms in Everson on Aug. 8, 1944. He is survived by his wife Bessie; 2 daughters, Mrs. Arlene & husband LeRoy Veenstra of Lynden and Mrs. Shirley & husband Graham Hutchinson of Austin, Texas; 6 grandchildren; 3 brothers, John of Bellingham, Gerard of Puyallup and Norman of Grand Rapids, Michigan; a sister, Mrs. Elsie (Maurice) VanZanten of Bellingham and numerous nieces & nephews. NOORDELOSS, Gerard "Gerald," 72, a World War II veteran and former Lynden resident, died Thursday (Feb. 9, 1989) at a Mount Vernon nursing home. Mr. Noordeloos was born May 13, 1926, in Billings, Mont. His family moved to Lynden when he was a baby. He graduated from Lynden High School and was a past member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Lynden. He later moved to Puyallup. He served in the U.S. Army/Air Force Medical corps during World War II, specializing in biochemistry and bacteriology. He wore Battle Stars, the Asiatic Pacific, Philippines Liberation, American Theatre and Victory ribbons and the Good Conduct Medal. Survivors include two brothers, John Noordeloos of Bellingham and Norman Noordeloos of Grand Rapids, Mich,; a sister, Elsie Van Zanten of Bellingham; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be through 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Gillies Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Monumenta Cemetery, with the Rev. NOORDELOOS, Jacob Sr. age 88 of Rt. 1, Everson passed away in a Lynden Christian Rest Home Saturday, Aug. 18, (1962) following a sudden illness. He had farmed in the Lynden area since 1916 and was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church. Surviving are five sons Jacob Jr. of Lynden, John of Bellingham, Norman of Grand Rapids, Mich., Cornelius of Everson and Gerard of Orting, Wash. Three daughters, Mrs. John Weeda of Lynden, Mrs. Maurcie VanZanten and Miss Dorothy Noordeloos, Grand Rapids, Mich. Also 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. NOORDELOOS, Jacob, age 77, of 1008 Liberty St., Lynden, passed away Tues., April 6, (1976). Born in Oudshoorn, Holland, Mr. Noordeloos moved to Lynden in 1916. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church and had taught school in Canada for 5 years, prior to purchasing a farm on what is now the West Badger Rd. He was married to Trena Ottens on April 18, 1940 in Lynden. His is survived by his wife, Trena; 4 brothers, John of Bellingham, Norman of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Cornelius of Everson and Gerard in Puyallup; three sisters, Mrs. John (Effie) Weeda of Lynden, Dorothy Noordeloos of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Mrs. Maurice (Elsie) Van Zanten of Bellingham; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Sat., April 10 at 2 p.m. in the First Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Arie Leegwater officiating. Interment will follow in the Monumenta Cemetery. NOORDHOFF, Kathryn, age 88, formerly of 601 Garden St., passed away Friday, October 30, (1964). A 28 year resident of Bellingham, Mrs. Noordhoff was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Survivors are numerous nieces and nephews including Mrs. Ann Neevel, Mrs. Olive Cox, Charles DeGeest, Leo DeGeest and Henry Top all of Bellingham. NORBERG, Carrie, 84, of 811 Maple St., passed away in a local hospital Thursday, Sept. 19, (1957). Mrs. Norberg had resided in the community for the past 68 years, and was a charter member of the Faith Lutheran Church. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Esther Ramsted, and Mrs. Ida Johnson, both of Bellingham, and Mrs. Alma Rowe of Seattle; one son, Elmer Helgren of Tacoma; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. NORBISRATH, Alida, a resident of this community for the past 31 years, passed away at the home of her son, Herbert, of 1106 Liberty Street, Sunday, September 16, (1951). Mrs. Norbisrath leaves to survive, another son, Hans, of Forks, Wash.; seven grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Carolina Franz, in Germany. Mrs. Norby had been a resident of this community for the past twenty-nine years and was a member of the Swedish Lutheran Church. NORBY, Fred R., age 71, of 2738 Humboldt, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, May 28, (1953). Mr. Norby had resided in this community for the past 40 years and was a member of the Pension Union No. 58. NORD, C. Oscard, age 84, passed away on Saturday, May 21, (1960) following an extended illness. Mr. Nord was a pioneer of the Hopewell community and was a retired fisherman. NORD, Dorothy B., age 27, of 1259 Northwest Road, passed away in a local hospital, Friday, August 12, (1949) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Nord had been a resident of the Ferndale district her entire life. She was a graduate of the Ferndale High School, class of 1939, an active member of the Ferndale Baptist Church and a Sunday School teacher at that church. Surviving relatives include her husband Jacob, and two sons, James and George, all at the family home in North Bellingham; her father, Roy Franklin, of Ferndale; three brothers, Vincent and Glenn, both of Friday Harbor, and Dale, of Ferndale; a grandmother, Mrs. Mae Mole, of Ferndale, and numerous other relatives. NORDANG, Ella, age 86, a Mt. Vernon resident died at The Skagit Valley Hospital Sunday, July 11, 1982. She was born in Delta, Whatcom Co. Feb. 12, 1896. The daughter of Charles & Mary Tyrall, she was educated there & graduated from the Bellingham Normal School with a degree in teaching. She taught in Eastern Washington & was united in marriage to Andrew Nordang in Bellingham, Oct. 15, 1920 at which time they settled in Bellingham and later moved to Seattle and then to North Bellingham, Conway, Mt. Vernon. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mt. Vernon; the Mt. Baker Chapter O.E.S. of which she was a past Worthy Matron; the Daughters of The Nile; The Zuleika Club; The Hatatsu Temple; Daughters of The Nile, Seattle and also past Worthy Matron of The Maple Leaf Chapter O.E.S. of Bellingham. Survivors include 1 niece, Mrs. Violet Strand of Lindstrom, Minn.; 3 nephews, Gordon R. Strandberg of Seattle, Dr. Russell V. Strandberg of Spokane and Ronald E. Strandberg of Aberdeen; grand nieces & nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held at the Mt. Vernon I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Mt. Vernon at 2 pm. Thursday, July 15. Mrs. Nordang will lie in state at the Kern Funeral Chapel, Mt. Vernon until Noon Thursday.

NORDBY, Clara D., age 67 years, of Ferndale, passed away at a local hospital, Thursday, April 24, (1947) following a lingering illness. She had been a resident of Ferndale for the past thirty-eight years, and was a member of the Ferndale Lutheran Free Church. NORDENSSON, Delayne, age 11, of Lummi Island, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, Nov. 22, (1956). Delayne had been a life resident of Lummi Island and was a member of the Lummi Island 4-H Club, the Congregational Sunday School of Lummi Island, Order of Rainbow in Ferndale. She leaves to survive her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Nordensson; one brother, Manly; two sisters, Donna and Karlene, all of the home; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dominic Stanovich, of this city, and many other relatives. NORDENSSON, Edith C., of Bellingham, past president of the Mount Vernon chapter of the Leisure Time Club, which scheduled many senior citizen activities, died Wednesday (June 22, 1988) in Bellingham. Mrs. Nordensson, 85, of 2400 Samish Way was born Dec. 3, 1902, in Wisconsin. She had lived in Bellingham 43 years. She also was a member of Leisure Time Club chapters in Bellingham and Sedro-Woolley until the organization disbanded in 1979, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Anacortes Fraternal Order of Eagles 249. Survivors include a daughter, Emily Goff of Reno, Nev.; two granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beatrice Nelson of Newport, Ore. NORDERUM, Theodore, of Rt. 2, Everson, passed away Saturday, November 10, (1945) at the age of 69 years. Mr. Norderum came to the Everson district in 1890. He was one of Jehovah's Witness. NORDGAARD, Emma - Funeral services for Emma Nordgaard, 91, of Lewiston, Idaho, will be Monday at Central Lutheran Church in Bellingham, with the Rev. Leonard C. Ericksen officiating. Mrs. Nordgaard died Monday (Jan. 29, 1990) in Lewiston at the Lewiston Care Center. Burial will follow the funeral at Bayview Cemetery under the direction of Malcom's Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel of Lewiston. Mrs. Nordgaard was born to Petter and Gurine Haugen Sandvick on Oct. 7, 1898, in Ranheim, Norway. She attended school in Norway. She married Mathias M. Nordgaard Aug. 5, 1924, in Ranheim. They emigrated to Canada, where they worked as school custodians. Her husband also ran a shoe repair business, was a rural mail carrier and worked as a carpenter in Bawlf, Alberta until 1942. They moved to Prince Rupert, B.C., in 1942. She was a custodian for a wartime housing complex. They moved to Bellingham in 1946 and studied to obtain their United States citizenship. While in Bellingham, she was a custodian in the Herald Building and the nursing school at St. Luke's Hospital. After the school closed, she worked in the central supply department of the hospital. She was a member of the Central Lutheran Church. After her husband's death on Aug. 25, 1971, she moved to Everett. In 1983 she moved to Idaho to be near her son. Mrs. Nordgaard was affiliated with Trinity Lutheran Church in Lewiston. She enjoyed cooking and specialized in Norwegian cookies and breads. Survivors include: a son, P. Fredrik Nordgaard of Lewiston; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

NORDIN, Eric R., Dr., age 60, of 990 Lagoon Drive, Vancouver, B. C., passed away suddenly at his summer home at Birch Bay, Tuesday, May 29, (1962). Dr. Nordin had practiced dentistry in Vancouver for the past 35 years; was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Vancouver, and a member and past president of both the Vancouver, B. C., and British Columbia Dental Societies. Surviving relatives are his widow, Pearl C. at home; one son, Jack E. Nordin of Montreal; two grandsons and his mother, Mrs. Sigrid Forsberg of Seattle. NORDING, Lester Jr., age 23, resident of 2280 Minkler Rd., Sedro Woolley, died Monday (Nov. 21, 1977) as a result of an accident of a city sanitation truck. He was born in Oak Harbor, Feb. 19, 1954 and was a 1972 graduate of Sedro Woolley High School. He also attended Skagit Valley College and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was married to Luann Rauser in North Dakota in 1973. NORDLUND, Arthur, 85, formerly of Lynden, passed away in a Stanwood nursing home on Friday, March 4, 1994. Graveside services were held in Lakeside Cemetery on Monday and a memorial service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Clearbrook Lutheran Church with Pastor John Leaf officiating. Mr. Nordlund was born in Alberta, Canada on July 18, 1908, the son of Erick and Brita Svedin Nordlund. From Alberta the family moved to Montana and then to the Lynden area. For many years Arthur was a potato farmer with his brother Herbert on the Van Buren Road. He was a member of the Clearbrook Lutheran Church. He moved to Stanwood in 1986. He is survived by two sisters, Agnes Loreen of Lynden and Elsie Heidbrader of Seattle, and numerous other relatives.

NORDLUND, Astrid Marie, Rt. 1, Lynden, passed away Saturday, May 18, (1946), at the age of 31 years. NORDLUND, E. Herbert, age 58, 9489 VanBuren Rd., Lynden, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, (1975). A member of the Clearbrook Lutheran Church, Mr. Nordlund moved to Whatcom County in 1929 from Montana, and in 1940 with his brother Arthur entered the potato growing industry. He was also a member of the Bellingham Yacht Club and the Sumas Valley Grange. Besides his brother Arthur of Lynden, he is survived by 2 sisters Mrs. Gus Loreen of Lynden and Mrs. Elsie Heidbrader in Seattle and numerous nieces and nephews. NORDSTROM, Harry Charles, age 72, formerly of 2818 Old Fairhaven Parkway, Bellingham, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 1991. Born in Bellingham, WA December 22, 1918 he graduated from Whatcom High School in 1936; moved to Seattle where he attended U of W; employed by Boeing Aircraft for 40 years, retiring in 1977, moving back to Bellingham November 1988. NORGAARD, Clarence E., of 2554 Norway Rd., Ferndale, passed away Tues., Sept. 6 (1977) at the age of 75. He was born in Hatton, N. Dakota and hand been a resident of Ferndale for 30 years. He was a member of Triumph Lutheran Church of Ferndale. Mr. Norgaard is survived by his wife, Harriet; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Ann Norgaard of Seattle; grandchildren, Karen and Del Palmer, Kaye, Randall and Linda Pederson all of Bellingham; 2 sisters, Emma Bjerke and Nettie Gulson both of Hatton, N. Dakota; also numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Richard Snipstead, Friday, Sept. 9 at 1:30 p.m. in Triumph Lutheran Church, Ferndale. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Moles Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the Lighthouse Mission or Triumph Lutheran Church Building Fund.

NORGAARD, Loring C. – A memorial service for L. C. "Chris" Norgaard of Bellingham will be at 11:30 a.m. April 22 in the Bradford Chapel at First Congregational Church in San Francisco. Mr. Norgaard died Wednesday, Feb 23, 2000 in Bellingham. He was 79. Born Aug 29, 1920 in Providence, RI, he was a longtime resident of the San Francisco Bay area and Sacramento, Calif. He had lived in Bellingham for the past two years. Mr. Norgard designed tugs, towboats, barges, ferries, fireboats, tankers, fishing boats, commercial vessels and other utility or work-type vessels. He retired as chief marine engineer from Del Monte Corp. While working for Del Monte Corp, his job would require him to travel to Bellingham and Blaine. Mr. Norgaard was a lifetime member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers and was known for his design of the replica of Sir Francis Drake's Flagship, "Golden Hinde," and sightseeing boats (Red and White Fleet) in use on San Francisco Bay during the late 1950s through the late 70s. His first wife, Jane Sidebottom, preceded him in death. Survivors include sons Gregory Norgaard of Sultan and Peter Norgaard of Sacramento; sister Barbara MacKenzie of Marion, Ohio; three grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. NORGAARD, Matt M., age 70 of 1324 Humboldt St., passed away Wednesday, August 25, (1971). He had resided in Bellingham for the past 25 years, moving here from Prince Rupert, B. C. Born August 5, 1901 in Norway, he was a retired carpenter, a cabinet maker for the past 50 years; a member of the Sons of Norway, Verge Lodge No. 21 and the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Emma; son, Fredrik of Seattle and brother, Edward, Seattle; 2 sisters, Fredrikke Durnes, Seattle and Hannah Bakken of Norway; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Private family services will be held Monday, August 30 at 1 p.m. with Rev. S. D. Swenson officiating, under the direction of the Veroske's Bellingham Chapel. Interment to follow in the Bayview Cemetery.

NORGARDEN, Lars H., age 81, of Route 2, Ferndale, passed away suddenly Friday, October 5, (1951) following an accident. Mr. Norgarden had been a resident of the Ferndale community for the past four years and attended the Norwegian Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Minnie; one daughter, Lettie Funk, of Ostrander, Minn.; two sons, Ernest, of Ostrander, Minn., and Hardy, of Hawkeye, Iowa; six grandchildren. Chapel services will be held Monday, October 8, at 1 p.m. from the Monroe Funeral Home in Ferndale with the Rev. Alf Hjemboe officiating. Remains will be taken to Ostrander, Minn., for services and interment.

NORMAN, Abbie L., age 74, 1118 Franklin Street, passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, Jan. 22, (1963). Mrs. Norman had resided in this community for the past 53 years; was a member of the First Baptist Church; American Legion Auxiliary No. 7, and St. Luke's Assistance League. She is survived by a cousin, Mrs. Pearl Smart of LaGrange, Maine. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Dr. Stuart P. NORMAN, Alma, age 7_ years, of 1925 Humboldt, passed away at the family home Saturday, Dec. 20, (1952) following a short illness. NORMAN, Andrew, age 72, of Thirtieth and Kellogg Streets, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, Nov. 11, (1951). Mr. Norman had resided in this community for the past 49 years; was a longshoreman; had been a member of the Lutheran Church, Fairhaven Lodge No. 73, F. & A. M., Rose Croix Chapter of the Scottish Rite, and was a member of the Order of Vasa, Urania lodge No. 414. NORMAN, Charles C. R. - Graveside services for Charles C. R. Norman, 88, of Lincoln Square, 409 York St., were held Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Enterprise Cemetery with Rev. Al Currier of the Advent Christian Church officiating. Mr. Norman passed away Monday, Oct. 21, (1985). He was born Aug. 15, 1897 on Lummi Island and was a lifetime resident of Whatcom and Skagit counties, living at Maple Falls and Nooksack at one time. He is survived by his wife Charlotte, one son Lyle V. Norman and wife Carrie of Bellingham. There are three grandchildren and a sister, Merle Porter, of Renton. NORMAN, Dorothy E., 52, 2810 Ellis St., died Wednesday, (Oct. 14, 1970). A resident of Bellingham for the past 38 years, she was a member of the Catholic Church of the Assumption. NORMAN, Eldor, age 72, of 2003 Mt. Baker Highway, passed away at home Jan. 9, (1962). Mr. Norman was a retired shipwright and carpenter and had resided here for the past 52 years. NORMAN, Eliza Lillian, age 86, who resided at 1006 15th St., passed away on Thursday, August 22, (1957) following a brief illness. NORMAN, Esther, 88, 721 Garden St., died Thursday while visiting in San Salvador, El Salvador, in Central America. Burial will be in San Salvador. NORMAN, Otto L. - At his request, there will be no services for Otto L. Norman, 72, of 4000 Flynn St., a former Georgia-Pacific Corp. worker who died Saturday (Dec. 2, 1989) in a Bellingham nursing home. The body will be cremated, and the ashes will be placed at Greenacres Memorial Park. The life-long county resident was born Jan. 18, 1917, in Ferndale. He attended Garden Street United Methodist Church, and worked at G-P in Bellingham for 32 years before retiring in 1981. Survivors include: his wife, Florence June, of the family home; a daughter, Lani E. Calkins, of Bellingham; a son, Dennis L. Norman, of Anaheim, Calif.; three step-daughters, Donna J. NORMAN, Paula Aleasa - A funeral for Paula Aleasa Norman of Bellingham will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Greenacres Funeral Home chapel with Bishop Lyle Heyrend officiating. She was a member of Order of the Amaranth Court No. 28; Maple Leaf Chapter 58, Order of Eastern Star; White Shrine of Jerusalem, Jericho Shrine No. 21; Social Order of the Beauceant, Assembly No. 242; Sons of Norway; and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Norman, in 1980. NORMAN, Peter John, who for 37 years was employed by the YMCA in Bellingham, died Tuesday (Jan. 1, 1985) at the age of 71. He lived at 2810 Ellis St. A lifelong Whatcom County resident, he was born Jan. 15, 1913, in Ferndale. He retired in 1978 from the YMCA, where he was building superintendent. He was a member of Sons of Norway and of the Norwegian Male Chorus of Bellingham. He is survived by his wife, Ida; a son (Ken); two daughters (Karen Hoffman & Donna Jordan); nine stepchildren; four grandchildren; 32 step-grandchildren; a sister (Ella West); and a brother (Otto). NORRIS, Alfred E., age 75, of Route 3, Lynden, passed away in a local hospital, Monday, September 12, (1949) following a lingering illness. Mr. Norris had been a resident of the Lynden district of the past 27 years. NORRIS, Archie B., age 79, of 2205 Lincoln St. passed away in a local nursing home Saturday, April 14, (1962). A resident of Bellingham since its consolidation as a city in 1904, Mr. Norris was a retired lumber tallyman after having served for over 40 years with the Bloedel-Donovan Lumber Co. and attended the Garden St. Methodist Church. Survivors include his widow, Ethel at home; two daughters, Mrs. Frank Thurlow of Twisp and Mrs. Ben Sefrit of Bellingham; one son, Don A. NORRIS, Birdie Eliza, age 74, of Route 1, Lynden, passed away at a local hospital Monday, September 25, (1950) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Norris had been a resident of the Lynden district for the past 28 years and was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Lynden. NORRIS, Ethel E., age 78 of 2205 Lincoln St. passed away suddenly at home Saturday, July 28, (1962). Mrs. Norris, a widow of 3 months had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 60 years and was a member of the Garden Street Methodist Church. NORRIS, Hannah, age 80, life time resident of the Acme area, passed away Sept. 13, (1977) in Sedro Woolley. Born July 5, 1897 at Clipper, Wa., married to William Norris in 1917. NORRIS, Kevin Edward of Custer died of cancer Thursday, May 22, 1997. He was 27. At his request, no service will be held. Born April 18, 1970, in Juneau, Alaska, he was a local resident since 1989. A graduate of Juneau Douglas High School, he worked as a carpenter. Mr. Norris enjoyed martial arts, motocycle riding, reading and collecting books and computers. NORRIS, Marguerite, age 60, of 1283 Northwest Road, passed away in a local hospital, Monday, October 24, (1955). NORRIS, Marie, age 70 of 517 Liberty St., Lynden, passed away Sat. Oct. 18, (1975) following an extended illness. A 65 year county resident, Mrs. Norris was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church and the Golden Hour Womens Circle. She was married to her husband, Paul Norris, Oct. 20, 1937. Besides her husband, Paul, she is survived by her children, Doyle and Eileen Norris of Lynnwood and Robert & Judi Bobosky in Beaverton, Oregon, her mother, Mrs. Gerrit (Julia) VanDiest, of Lynden, and her grandson, Steven P. Bobsky (sic). She is also survived by 4 sisters, Mrs. Nancy VanderMey, Mrs. Juliana Salmonson and Mrs. Gertrude Bovenkamp all of Lynden and Mrs. Cornelia Nikko of Bellevue, 4 brothers, John VanDiest of Portland, Pete VanDiest of Everson, Bernard VanDiest of Sumas and Gary VanDiest of Bellingham, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Norris will be conducted Tuesday Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. in the Second Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Ronald Slater officiating. NORRIS, William E., age 24. A resident of the Wickersham area died March 23, 1978 as a result of injuries suffered in a logging accident. He was born April 19, 1953 in Bellingham, a 1971 graduate of Mt. Baker High School, he was united in marriage to Terry Dills in Sedro Woolley in 1975. NORSTEDT, Axel E., age 77, of 2629 Jaeger St., passed away at the family home Monday, June 6, (1966). Mr. Norstedt had resided in Bellingham for the past 59 years and was a retired fisherman. He was a member of the Order of Vasa and the Alaska Fisherman's Union. NORSTROM, Fonda Irene, age 83 of 4831-35th SW, Seattle died Thurs., April 17, 1980 at her daughter's home. She was a member of the Boulevard Park Presbyterian Church & Everson Presbyterian Church. NORSTROM, Gus, 93, an early settler of Bellingham, died May 15, (1978) in Seattle. Norstrom was born December 18, 1884 in Bellingham, the only son of John and Johanna Norstrom who immigrated from Sweden. His sister was Louisa Mecklem. John Norstrom was the owner of one of the first steam sawmills on the Bellingham waterfront. The Norstrom family moved to Everson when Gus was 10 and started a logging operation and a sawmill located at what was known as Strandell. Gus worked for his father logging oxen, then horses, and in later years the donkey engine. Norstrom left school after the third grade to help in the woods and took over completely in 1915 after his father died. He retired from the retail lumber business in 1954 and lived at his home in Everson until 1967 when he and his wife Irene moved to Bellingham. In February of 1973 they moved to Seattle. Norstrom was active in the Elks Band and was the last surviving member of the Everson Band. He was a member of the Everson Presbyterian Church and a recent member of the Boulevard Park Presbyterian Church in Seattle. Surviving are his wife, Irene, daughter Connie and five grandchildren, Gayl, Brian, Karin, Craig, and Janelle, and two great-grandchildren, all of Seattle. Memorial service was at Boulevard Park Presbyterian May 17, cremation and interment was at Greenacres Memorial Mausoleum.

NORTH, Alma H., age 83, of 2520 Madison St., Everett, passed away in an Everett hospital Friday, Aug. 23, (1963). A member of the Congregational Church, Mrs. North formerly resided in Bellingham for 55 years prior to moving to Everett in 1962. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Vera Forslund of Everett; one son Jack North of Bellevue; six grandchildren. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Glenn C. Carlson Tuesday, August 27 at 3:00 p.m. followed by cremation.

NORTH, Daniel F., age 84, formerly of the Shuksan Nursing Home, passed away in a local hospital, Saturday, June 23, (1962). A retired attorney and a resident of Bellingham since 1907, Mr. North was a member of the Congregational Church. He was a graduate of Olivet College and a law graduate of the University of Ann Arbor at Ann Arbor, Mich. Survivors are his widow, Alma H.; one son, Jack North of Bellevue; one daughter, Mrs. Vera Forsland of Everett; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Amy McIllwain of Homer, Mich. NORTH, John W., passed away in the Veteran's Hospital, June 6, 1977 at the age of 58. He had been a resident of Bellingham for 41 years and had had his own business. Jack's Market in the Home Market and also on Ellis St. He worked for Columbia Valley Lumber Co. for 5 years as an accountant. At present he was the manager at Birch Bay, working for Mrs. K. North Meek as mgr. of the Golden Tides resort, next to the Golf Course, 7910 Birch Bay Dr. He lost his leg in the service of his country in WWII, fought in Tunisia, Italy and Africa, was a past member of the Bellingham Yacht Club, Elks and American Legion, was the son of Dan F. North, former city attorney of Bellingham and Alma North, prominent in local schools, as Supt. of schools and high school. Leaves to survive 2 daughters, Shieela Kay Menti, Moses Lake, Wa. and Paula Rae Harvey, Alderwood Manor, Wa.; 3 grandchildren, Marlo Kay Menti, Moses Lake, Wa., Bradley and Andrew Harvey, Alderwood Manor, Wa. Interment at Washelli Cemetery, in Veterans Cemetery, private services at graveside. Contributions can be made to the St. Joseph's Hospital Coronary Unit, Bellingham. His last resident (sic) in Bellingham was 1455 Cliffside Dr. before moving to Seattle in 1960. Attended Western Wash. College, Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., also University of Washington, graduated in Business Administration.

NORTH, Louise, age 73, of 2015 Iron St., passed away in a local sanitarium Wednesday, April 13, (1960). Mrs. North formerly resided in New York City for 32 years, in Vancouver, B. C., for 10 years and the past eight years in Bellingham. She is survived by her husband, William North at home and one brother, Jack Rutter, of Aberysmith, Wales. NORTHAM, Daisy May Bulmer, age 93, of 409 York St. and formerly of Nooksack, passed away in a local hospital Wed., July 25, (1979). Born in Nooksack in 1886, prior to Statehood, she had taught Sunday School in the Methodist Church for over 45 years. She was a member of the Nooksack Valley Methodist Church, the Garden Street Methodist Church and a life time member of the Hopewell Grange. Surviving are a brother, Fred M. NORTHINGTON, Patricia A. – At her request, there will be no services for Patricia A. (Jewett) Northington of Mount Vernon, formerly of Bellingham. Mrs. Northington died Friday, April 14, 2000, at the family homestead in Mount Vernon. She was 76. Born Feb 20, 1924, to Bill and Inez Jewett in Avon, she attended Avon and Mount Vernon schools. On Oct 19, 1942, she married Sylvester "Skip" Northington in Mount Vernon. Mrs. Northington retired from Bellingham Frozen Foods, where she worked for many years. She enjoyed reading, fishing and camping. Her sister Cleo Jones and brother Billy Jewett died previously. NORTHRUP, Cora Ellen - A graveside service for Cora Ellen Northrup of Acme will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Saxon Cemetery with Bernard E. Northrup officiating. Mrs. Northrup died at home Friday, Aug. 1, 1997. She was 95. Born July 4, 1902, to David and Ella Stall in Luther, Okla., she married Clarence Northrup in 1922 in Nebraska. Mrs. Northrup lived in Anacortes for many years and in Alaska before moving to Acme in 1971. She was a commercial salmon fisher in Alaska until her husband's death in 1964. Mrs. Northrup enjoyed flowers, gardening and other hobbies. Survivors include daughter Wilma Coleman of Acme; sons Raymond Northrup of Sitka, Alaska, Bernard E. Northrup of Redding, Calif., and Walter Northrup of Ketchikan, Alaska; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley.

NORTHUP, Edison R., age 85, of 1200 Lincoln, space #155, passed away Tuesday Nov. 6, 1979. He was a retired farmer and a 10 year resident here and a previous resident of Ridgefield, Wash. for 46 years. The remains are resting at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. E. A. Wolfe, Friday, May 19, at 1:30 p.m. Cremation.

NORTON, Merle G., age 63, of Deer Harbor, Orcas Island, passed away in a local hospital Monday, Dec. 28, (1954). Mrs. Norton had resided in that community for the past 36 years and leaves to survive, her husband, William J. at home; two sons, Richard of Deer Harbor and William J. Jr. of Mexico City, Mexico; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Toler of Deer Harbor and Mrs. Betty Nelson of Seattle; six grandchildren; one brother, Vern Schlott of Albuquerque, N. M.; two sisters, Mrs. May Montgomery in California and Mrs. Ruth Cletsoway in Albuquerque, N. M. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. James M. Wilson, Monday, January 4, at 1 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.

NORTON, Ralph T., age 69, who resided in Blaine passed away Sun. April 29, 1979. Private services were held followed by cremation under the direction of Veroske McKinney Funeral Home. [WWII veteran]

NORTON, Ruth Lykke - A memorial service for Ruth Lykke Norton, 77, of 1328 Orleans St., Bellingham, will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Central Lutheran Church with the Revs. Leonard C. Ericksen and Dennis Anderson officiating. She died Saturday at St. Joseph Hospital Main Campus. She was born July 27, 1914, in Bellingham to Harold and Lena Lykke. She was a graduate of St. Luke's School of Nursing and was a registered nurse. She worked for many years in the operating room at Maynard Hospital in Seattle and also worked in the operating room at St. Joseph Hospital Main Campus in Bellingham before she retired. Survivors include her daughter, Rachel Diane Norton of Seattle; a brother, Reuben Lykke of Bellingham; and two nephews, Greg Lykke and Troy Lykke, both of Bellingham. Arrangements are by Jones-Moles Funeral Home.

NORTON, William D., age 87, of 1207 1/2 State St., passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, May 8, (1956). Mr. Norton had resided in this community for the past 53 years and was a retired construction foreman. Surviving relatives include one son, Orrie W. Norton; one daughter, Mrs. Floyd Morrison, both of this city; two grandchildren, Mrs. Harold Johnson of Raymond, Wash., and Mrs. Bruce Banks of Bellingham; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Barney B. Norton of St. Cloud, Florida. The remains rest at the Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where services will be conducted Friday, May 11, at 1 p.m. Cremation.
