NIEDERMEIER, Lydia, age 79 years, 2806 Grove Street, passed away at her home Friday, May 28, (1948). Mrs. Niedermeier was a member of the St. John's Lutheran church and leaves the following survivors: Four daughters, Mrs. Matilda Petry and Mrs. Lydia Olson, of this city, Mrs. Cornelia Pommier, Amber, Wash., and Mrs. Marie Jenson, San Diego, Calif.; three grandchildren; one brother, Karl Elker, Surrey, N.D., and two sisters, Mrs. Christina Megg, Aurelia, N.D., and Mrs. Molly Dittmer, Casselton, N.D. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth, where services will be conducted by the Rev. M. A. P. Keller Wednesday, June 2, at 1:30 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.
NIEDHAMER, Lloyd D., 83, formerly of Bellingham, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, at a Puyallup nursing home. Born Oct. 21, 1914, in Dayton, Ohio, he married Katherine Malone in 1941. In 1948, they moved to the Northwest, where he worked as a journeyman tool and die maker for Bellingham Chain & Forge in Bellingham and Portland. Upon retirement, Mr. Niedhamer built a home on Lummi Island. More recently, he shared his time between the island and Bellingham. He was active in the First Church of Christ, Scientist and the Lummi Island Grange. Mr. Niedhamer also traveled extensively. Aside from his wife, survivors include nieces and nephews. There will be no service.
NIELSEN, August, age 48, of Rt. 1, Blaine, passed away at home Tuesday, January 13, (1953) following a short illness. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Viegas and Mrs. Anna Brown, both of Bellingham; one brother, Harry, of Blaine. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 17, at 2 p.m. from the McKinney Funeral Home in Blaine, with the Rev. Evan David officiating. Interment, Blaine Cemetery.
NIELSEN, Clara F., age 82 of 5300 Belfern Dr., Bellingham, died Monday May 19, 1980. A life time resident of this community, she was a member of First Baptist Church, a retired Bellingham School District School teacher; former President of Bellingham Teachers Association and former President of State Class room Teachers Retirement Association. She is survived by 1 sister, Ila Anderson of Ferndale; 3 nieces, Dorothy Berger of Seattle; Helen Fritzal of Los Angeles and Margaret Sorenson of Laurel.; 2 nephews, LeRoy Anderson of Cashmere and Robert L. NIELSEN, Cora L., age 85, passed away at the Washington Veterans Home at Retsil, Wash., April 21, 1961. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 25 at 10 a.m. at the Washington Veterans Home at Retsil with Chaplain Dr. John Hall officiating under the direction of the Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home in Port Orchard. Burial followed at 2:45 p.m. in Greenacres Memorial Park in Bellingham. She was born in Pine Run, Pa., March 23, 1876. She moved to Nebraska and Kansas as a young girl and to Blaine, Wash., in 1886. She was married in Blaine in 1901 to Mr. Hans C. Nielsen, then moved to Bellingham about 1920. Mr. Nielsen passed away in Bellingham in 1947. Shortly after his passing she came to the Washington Veterans Home in Retsil. She was a member of the Community Church of Retsil and the U. S. Spanish War Veterans Auxiliary of Retsil. Survived by two sons, Horace Nielsen of Edmonds and Walter I. Nielsen of Sacramento, Calif., 1 daughter, Mrs. Arla McCormick of San Francisco, 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 1 brother, Oscar Maneval of Sedro Woolley, 1 sister, Mrs. Pearl Rogers of Bellingham.
NIELSEN, Dorothy M., age 79, of 4142 Sweet Rd., Blaine passed away Mon. April 9, 1979. Born in Lynden, she had been a life time resident of the Lynden & Blaine areas. She was a member of the Blaine Senior Activities Center. Survivors include 2 sisters; Florence Hardy of Everson & Edna Kukura of Calif. A brother, Geln (sic) Bradley of Wenatchee. Numerous nieces & nephews including Delores Hardy of Everson. Funeral services will be held in Veroske McKinney Funeral Home, Thurs. April 12th at 2 p.m. followed by burial in Greenacres Memorial Park. Friends wishing to see Mrs. Nielsen should call at the funeral home between 4 & 6 p.m. Weds. NIELSEN, Gertrude A., age 86 of 398 Marine Dr., Pt. Roberts, WA passed away Sat., May 17, 1980. Mrs. Nielsen has resided in Pt. Roberts for the past 28 years. NIELSEN, Hans, age 86, of 2800 Alderwood Avenue, passed away in a local hospital Friday, July 16, (1954). Mr. Nielsen had resided in this community for the past 19 years, and was a member of the Central Lutheran Church and the Danish Brotherhood. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Laura J. Nielsen at the family home; four sons; Lawrence H. of Ephrata, Wash., William E., and Louis T., both of Spokane, and Harry M. of Everett; two daughters; Mrs. Ray Sandusky of Detroit, Michigan, and Mrs. Alfred Carlson of Tacoma; and 8 grandchildren. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by Rev. Oscar A. Jacobson, Tuesday, July 20, at 3 p.m. Final resting place, Greenacres Memorial Park.
NIELSEN, Hans Christian, Capt., of 2320 Park Street, passed away at a local hospital Friday, March 14, (1947) at the age of 75 years. He had resided in Bellingham for the past 26 years and resided in Blaine prior to that time. He was a Master Mariner and a well known retired ship captain. He was a member of the First Baptist church, of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, William Matthew's Post No. 1585, and a member of John Weisenberger's Camp of the United Spanish American War Veterans. He is survived by his wife, Cora L. Nielsen, of the home; two sons, Horace O. Nielsen, of Edmonds, Wash., and Walter I. Nielsen, of Lake Sammamish, Wash.; one daughter, Mrs. Arla E. McCormick, of San Francisco, Calif.; four grandchildren, Robert O. and Joanne P. Nielsen, of Edmonds, Wash., Marilu Nielsen, of Lake Sammamish, Wash., and Donna Arlene McCormick, of San Francisco, Calif. Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 17, at 1 p.m. in the cathedral chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home, with Rev. C. Elroy Shikles, of Everett, Wash., officiating. Committal was conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars at Greenacres Memorial Park.
NIELSEN, Harriet J., formerly of Everson, passed away at Christian Rest Home in Lynden on June 29, 1993 at the age of 93. Graveside services were held in Hopewell Cemetery on Friday with pastors Wilfred Gunderson and Thomas Willert officiating. Mrs. Nielsen was born in Holland, Minn. on Nov. 26, 1899, a daughter of Tom and Nellie Bruin Willemsen. At the age of 28 she moved from Orange City, Iowa to California, where she was married to Viggo Nielsen in Glendale, Calif. on June 1, 1929. In 1944 they came to the Everson area where Harriet operated a dairy farm with her husband. She enjoyed gardening, canning and growing dahlias and roses. Mr. Nielsen passed away in 1982. Harriet is survived by her daughter Harriet "Penny" Nielsen of Everson; son Donald Nielsen and wife Shirley of Everson; brother Tony Willemsen of Barstow, Calif; foster daughter Sydney Chadwick of Caldwell, Idaho; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services and arrangements were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.
NIELSEN, Harry V., age 57, of Route 1, Blaine, passed away Thursday, October 27, (1955) in his home following a short illness. Surviving relatives include his wife, Dorothy Nielsen; one daughter, Mrs. Verna Harrison of Norfolk, Va.; two grandsons; one sister, Mrs. Anna Brown of Bellingham; several nieces and nephews, also numerous relatives. Funeral services will be conducted November 1, at 2 p.m. from the McKinney Funeral Home in Blaine with Rev. A. W. Brown officiating. Interment in the Greenacres Cemetery.
NIELSEN, Jens K., age 85 of Rt. No. 1, Blaine, passed away at a local hospital Saturday, Dec. 27, (1958) following a short illness. Survivors include one brother, Andrew N. Nielson of Monroe, Wash.; a nephew, Niels Knudsen of Seattle, Wash. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Jan. 2, at 2 o'clock with Rev. Albert Neubauer officiating. Interment Greenacres Cemetery under the direction of the McKinney Funeral Home.
NIELSEN, Laura J., 5336 Fairmount Place, Spokane, age 84, passed away in a Spokane hospital Sunday, October 30, (1966). Mrs. Nielsen was a twenty-five-year resident of this city before moving to Tacoma five years ago, and was a member of the Lutheran Church and Danish Brotherhood. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Betty Carlson. Survivors are four sons, Lawrence H. and William E. of Ephrata; Louis T., Spokane; Harry M. of Everett; a daughter, Mrs. Ray Sandusky of Detroit, Mich.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and two sisters in Denmark. Services will be conducted by Rev. Donald R. Mace Wednesday, November 2 at 3 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park.
NIELSEN, Lena, age 69, of Van Zandt, passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, November 22, (1949). Mrs. Nielsen had been a resident of that community for the past 39 years and had attended the Presbyterian Church at Acme, and was a member of the Royal Neighbors, Lodge No. 3196. Surviving relatives are her husband, Otto, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Paula Potter, of Van Zandt, and Mrs. Ida Anderson, of Acme; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, also four brothers, in Denmark. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth, where services will be conducted by the Rev. Harry Richardson, Saturday, November 26, at 3 p.m. Final resting place, Van Zandt Cemetery.
NIELSEN, Louis, Blaine resident, passed away Friday, October 15, (1954) at a Bellingham Hospital following a short illness. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Sophie With-Peterson, Mrs. Margarette Herland; two brothers, H. C. Nielsen and Jacob E. Nielsen, all in Denmark. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. within the McKinney Funeral Home at Blaine with the Rev. Dr. H. Sigmar officiating. Cremation.
NIELSEN, Minta B., 69, of 1721 35th St., passed away at home Sunday, January 27, (1957). Mrs. Nielsen had resided in Bellingham for the past 12 years, was a member of the local Leisuretime Club, a member of the Christian Church and of the Rebekah Lodge No. 459 of Audubon, Iowa. Surviving relatives include two sons, Benn of Bellingham and Carl of Seattle; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Jervis of Seattle and Mrs. Doris Christensen of Kimballton, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Dollahide of Audubon, Iowa and Mrs. Joy Collins of Arizona. The remains rest at the Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. Carl Eggers, Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 1 p.m. Final resting place Audubon, Iowa.
NIELSEN, Otto, age 71, of Van Zandt, passed away in a local hospital Friday, November 2, (1951). Mr. Nielsen, a retired dairy farmer, was a member of the Whatcom County Dairymen's Association and had been a county resident for the past 41 years. He leaves to survive, two daughters, Mrs. Paula Potter, of Van Zandt, and Mrs. Ida Anderson, of Acme; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and one brother, J. P. Nielsen, of California. Graveside services were conducted Saturday, November 3, at 3:00 p.m. at Van Zandt cemetery under the direction of Harlow-Hollingsworth.
NIELSEN, Ronald C. - Funeral services for Ronald C. Nielsen of Custer will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Jerns-LeVeck Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Michael Compton officiating. Burial will be in Haynie Cemetery. Mr. Nielsen of 8643 Valley View Road died Sunday, June 5, 1994, in Bellingham. He was 56. Born Aug. 22, 1937, to Frank and Gertrude Hendrickson Nielsen in Seattle, he lived in Whatcom County for 24 years. He married Judy M. Van Dyk on Sept. 25, 1965, in Seattle. Mr. Nielsen served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1958. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on his farm. He was a member of Blaine American Legion Post No. 86, Haynie Grange No. 169 and Laborers Union Local No. 276. Survivors include his wife of the family home; son Joel E. Nielsen of Custer; daughter Robin A. Zbylski of Kent; two brothers; three sisters; stepparents Clarence McPherson of Arlington and Bernice Nielsen of Hadlock; and three grandchildren.
NIELSEN, Viggo, age 89 who resided at 3244 Hopewell Road passed away in a local hospital, December 9, 1982. Mr. Nielsen had been a resident of Everson since 1944, where he was a Dairy & Poultry farmer, retired in 1968; was veteran of WWI having served in the Army. He is survived by his wife, Harriet; a daughter, Harriet Ann of the family residence; a son, Donald Paul & wife Shirley of Everson; grandchildren; Barbara Ann Myhre & husband Kenneth of Sumas; Vicki Jo Lottens & husband, John of Alaska; Russell Paul Nielsen & wife Ann of Alaska; 5 great grandchildren. The family requests memorials to St. Joseph Hospital Medical Floor Fund, Bellingham. NIELSON, Haldor "Albert" age 79 years, of 3218 Cherrywood, passed away suddenly in Ferndale, Wednesday, October 19, (1955). Mr. Nielson had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 52 years. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Josephine M. Kaas, of Ferndale; Mrs. Marie Sheppard, of Seattle, and Mrs. Edna Pearce, of Bellingham; three brothers, Nels C. Nelson (sic), Seattle; Hans Nelson, of Bellingham, and John Nelson, of Ferndale; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 22, at 10:30 a.m. at the Monroe Funeral Chapel in Ferndale, with the Rev. Dreyer officiating. Cremation will follow.
NIEMANN, Carolyn A. – Visitation for Carolyn A. (Robbins) Niemann of Bellingham will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Monday at Purdy & Walters with Cassidy in Everett. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Niemann died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000 at her home. She was 56. Born Aug 26, 1944 to Wayne and Berniece (Ferguson) Robbins in Detroit, she had lived in Bellingham for the past eight years. Mrs. Niemann worked as a bookkeeper at Fourth Corner Network. Her father died previously. Survivors include her mother, daughter Candace Gobble, son Derek Niemann, sisters Pamela Kieffer and Cheryl Sunne, ex-husband Dean Niemann, two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

NIENABER, Florence I., of Bellingham, WA, passed away Tues., May 14, 2002 in Bellingham. She was 92, born Sept. 6, 1909 in the Ten Mile area to Richard and Clara (Wieland) Gansler. A lifetime resident of Whatcom County, Florence grew up in the Ten Mile area, attended Ten Mile and Laurel grade schools, and Meridian High School. She went to Success Business College and worked for Northern Wholesale Grocery as a billing and order clerk. On September 15, 1931 she married her high school sweetheart, Leo F. Nienaber. In 1943 they moved from Bellingham to a dairy farm on the Laurel Road. As well a being a full time homemaker, she helped her husband build and operate Leo's Cafe and operate a mink ranch in North Bellingham. After retiring from the mink ranch, they fished and traveled extensively, and snow-birded to Southern California and Arizona for many years. Florence was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Leo on March 15, 2002, sister Arta and brother Elver Gansler. Florence is survived by her children Arlene and husband Bill Moldenhauer, Bruce and wife Soonja Nienaber, all of Bellingham, Darryl Nienaber of Santa Rosa, CA; eight grandchildren Jim Moldenhauer, Sharon Struiksma, Bryan, Philip, Kynan, Mark, Darren, and Dan Nienaber; 14 great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter; brother Richard Gansler; sisters Rosa Peterson and Ann Brown and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday May 20, 2002 at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Greenacres-Moles Cemetery.
NIENABER, Leo F., of Bellingham, WA, age 91, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2002 in Bellingham. He was born on July 22, 1910, the youngest of ten, in a log cabin near Kendall, WA to Gustav and Christina (Schaab) Nienaber. A lifetime resident of Whatcom County, he began his education in a one room school house. After attending several schools, he finished his education at Meridian High School. On September 15, 1931, he married his high school sweetheart, Florence Gansler of the Ten Mile area. Leo dairy farmed in Laurel, built and operated Leo's Cafe, and drove buses for the Meridian School District. He also operated a mink ranch in North Bellingham. After retirement, Leo and his wife moved to Lynden, then back to Bellingham. They fished and traveled extensively, and snow-birded to Southern California and Arizona for many years. Also, he was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife Florence; children Arlene and husband Bill Moldenhauer, Bruce and wife Soonja Nienaber, all of Bellingham, Darryl Nienaber of Santa Rosa, CA; eight grandchildren Jim Moldenhauer, Sharon Struiksma, Bryan, Philip, Kynan, Mark, Darren, and Dan Nienaber; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. NIENABER, Raymond A., 89, a Columbia Valley native, died Wednesday (Feb. 22, 1989) in a Bellingham nursing home. Mr. Nienaber, a Seattle resident, was born Nov. 25, 1899, in Columbia Valley, east of Sumas. He moved to Seattle in 1950 and returned to Bellingham in 1984. Survivors include his daughter, Irene C. Houghton of Seattle; three grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur Nienaber of Woodburn, Ore., and Leo Nienaber of Bellingham; and numerous nieces and nephews. At his request there will be no services. Cremation and burial will take place Greenacres Crematorium and Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Seattle, respectively. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home.

A lifetime Whatcom County resident, Mr. Nienaber was a retired State Highway Department employee, member and Past Master of Fidelity Lodge No. 105 F&AM. Surviving wife Dorothy, 1 son, Mr. Larry W. Nienaber of Federal Way, 2 granddaughters Lynene and Lorri, 3 brothers, Mr. Leo Nienaber, Lynden, Mr. Raymond Nienaber, Seattle and Mr. Arthur Nienaber, Woodburn, Oregon, 2 sisters, Mrs. Christina Schmidt, Seattle and Mrs. Grace Molde, Portland, numerous nieces and nephews. NIETFIELD, Robert, age 68, passed away August 16, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1958-1959. In July of 1961 he married Arlene Stein in Fullerton, CA. Bob was an avid sports fan and golfer. He worked for Mill Electric for 23 years. He is survived by his wife, Arlene; daughter Debra Feiner and husband Bob; son Bob Nietfield; grandsons David Pena, Nicholas Nietfield, Levi Nietfield; great-grandson D. J. Pena; mother Dorothy Nietfield; niece Karen Omodt and nephew Steve Omodt. Private family services will be held.

NIEUWENDORP, Henry, age 94, 900 Main St., Lynden, passed away in Bellingham on Monday July 2, (1984). Born Dec. 4, 1889 in New Holland, So. Dakota., Mr. Nieuwendorp moved to Whatcom County in 1937. A retired carpenter, Mr. Nieuwendorp was a member of the First Reformed Church in Lynden and was married to Gertrude Stam in Westfield, No. Dakota on March 11, 1915. Mrs. Nieuwendorp died in 1975. He is survived by 3 sons, Harold & wife Evelyn, Clayton & wife Clara and Lowell & wife Georgia, all of Lynden; 6 daughters, Mrs. Nellie & husband Richard Olson and Mrs. Ann & husband Bill Hallberg, all of Lynden, Janet Nieuwendorp, Mrs. Mildred & husband Bob Frasier, all of Bellingham, Mrs. Lois & husband Bill Rowley of Santa Ana, Calif. and Mrs. Shirley & husband Ron Radder of Everson; 27 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ada Compaan, Artesia, Calif.; a sister in law Mrs. Hannah Nieuwendorp of Lynden and numerous nieces & nephews. NIEUWENDORP, Richard, age 82 of 308-9th Street, Lynden, passed away Mon., June 30, 1980. Born in Corsica, South Dakota, Mr. Nieuwendorp moved to Whatcom County from South Dakota in 1936. He was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church in Lynden and had owned and operated Dick's Shoe Repair, first in Sumas then in Lynden, retiring in Feb. of this year. He and his wife Hanna had also served as janitors of Lynden Christian School for many years. They were married in Westfield, North Dakota on April 4, 1919. Besides his wife Hanna, he is survived by 3 sons, John & wife Karen; Richard & wife Connie, both of Bellingham; Roger & wife Gladys of Lynden; 5 daughters, Nellie & husband Tony Staal; Kathryn & husband Bob Blankers; Wilma & husband Ed Bouma; Ada & husband Rich Biesheuvel, all of Lynden; Dolores & husband Lawrence Benner of Everson; 38 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren; a brother Henry of Lynden; a sister, Mrs. Ada Compaan of Artesia, California; and numerous nieces & nephews. NIEUWSMA, Elizabeth, 79, of Lynden, died Saturday (July 27, 1985) at the Lynden Christian Rest Home. She was born in Lynden May 29, 1906 and was a lifelong resident of that community. Mrs. Nieuwsma was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church and a past member of the Golden Hour Circle and the Lynden Christian School Mothers Club. A homemaker, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, John Meeboer and Joe Nieuwsma. NIEUWSMA, Herman Peter, 69, died at his home in Kalispell, Mont. on Saturday, Feb. 20, 1993 of natural causes. He was born Dec. 21, 1923, in Hull, N. D., a son of Joe and Ruth Nieuwsma. In 1947 he was married to Ruth Marie Groen in Hull, N.D. He lived in Lynden for 43 years before moving to Kalispell in 1990. Since moving to Kalispell he had operated H&R Computer. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, at the home in Kalispell; one son, Bob Nieuwsma of Kalispell; four daughters, Vivian Nieuwsma of St. Louis, Arlene Loeschen of Albany, Texas, Karen Russell of Dallas and Bonnie Dahl of St. Louis; and eight grandchildren. Graveside services and burial were held this morning in Conrad Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell. NIEUWSMA, Theadoris Jeanette, age 37, of 1416 So. 13th Ave., Yakima, Wash., passed away in a Yakima Hospital Monday, August 11, (1948) following an extended illness. She was born in Lynden August 16, 1920, growing and attending school in Lynden district, graduating from high school in 1941. Following her marriage to Donald W. Neuwsma (sic) on March 19, 1948, at Lynden, she moved to Seattle, living there until seven years ago when they moved to Yakima where they have since resided. She was a member of the Moxee Reformed Church. Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Daniel Edward and Kevin Ralph, both at home; her mother, Mrs. Elsie Haveman of Lynden; five sisters, Mrs. WaanDiena Hulst of Oak Harbor, Mrs. Gertrude Rinehart of Lynden, Elsie Mae Haveman of Everett, Goldie Haveman, Mrs. Joyce Rip of Oak Harbor; three brothers, John Haveman of Everson, Howard and Norman Haveman of Oak Harbor; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. NIEVEEN, Anna, 90, a resident of Lynden since 1901, died Tuesday (Nov. 8, 1988) in Bellingham. Mrs. Nieveen, 912 Glenning St., Lynden, was born Sept. 10, 1898, in Michigan and moved to Lynden in 1901 with her parents, John and Elizabeth Haveman. She married Martin Nieveen Aug. 13, 1918, in Lynden. He died in 1972. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Lynden and active in the Lynden Senior Center. Survivors include two daughters, Ada Nieveen of Lynden and Elizabeth Pettit of Ferndale; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert Haveman of Mount Vernon; and numerous other relatives. She had been a resident of Whatcom County for seventy years, coming to Sumas district in 1877, then to Bellingham in 1913. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Ida Beebe, of Deming Star Route, Mrs. Pearl Cowden, of Bellingham, Route 3; three sons, Fred, of Bellingham, Paul, of Bellingham, Route 3, Ernest, of Sumas; twenty-six grandchildren, and thirty-seven great grandchildren. NIMS, Florence L., age 91, passed away September 20, 1993 at Fir Lane Terrace Convalescent Center. She was born October 12, 1901 in Ekalaka, Montana to Amos & Cordia Lambert. She lived in Bellingham for many years where she attended Bellingham Alliance Church; was a homemaker most of life; moved to Shelton in 1983 to be near her sisters; was a member of Mt. View Alliance Church in Shelton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald L. Lord in 1948; Husband Paul E. Nims in 1983; a son, Eldon E. Lord, 1983. She is survived by sons George A. Lord of Port Ludlow, WA; Dennis R. Lord of Seattle, WA; sisters May C. Hoag of Bellingham, WA; Rachel Hoag of Camp Crook, South Dakota; Lillie L. Laughlin of Shelton, WA; Minerva V. NIMS, Fred Victor, age 83 of 2705 Franklin Street passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, April 17, (1963). Mr. Nims had resided in Whatcom County for the past 80 years and for the past 19 years had resided in Bellingham. He was a retired carpenter. Surviving are his wife Laura at home, one son Donald F. Nims of Snoqualmie, two daughters, Mrs. Blanche L. Moore of Sumas, and Mrs. Dorothy Worthington of Bellingham. Eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. NIMS, Jack Patterson - Memorial services for Jack Patterson Nims, 65, were held Friday at Westford Funeral Home. He passed away Jan. 19, 1991 at home. He was born March 18, 1925 in Bellingham to Roy and Nellie Rittenberg Nims. He was a great-grandson of Col. James Patterson, and original settler of Whatcom County. He graduated from Mount Baker High School, attended Western Washington College and was an Army veteran of World War II serving in Italy, earning the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Victory Medal. He later served in the Korean War. He was a member of DAV, American Legion and Bellingham Gun Club. He had served as postmaster at Deming. He was employed at Yeager's and later by Kesselring Gun Shop as a gunsmith. He studied piano and his hobbies were trap, skeet, hunting, fishing, and selling and trading guns. He is survived by three sons, Jack P. Nims Jr. of Washington, D. C. and Matt and Roy Nims of Seattle; two daughters, Debbie Elder of Everett and Becky Jay of Houston, Texas; a former wife, Sharon Olds Nims of Oregon, and five grandchildren.

NIMS, Louis Leroy, age 57, of Deming, passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, January 25, (1949). Mr. Nims had been a life resident of that community and was the owner of the Deming Motor Co. Deceased was a member of the Advent Christian Church and leaves to survive his widow, Nellie A., at home; one son, Jack P., of Deming, and numerous nieces and nephews. NIMS, Marie Agnes, age 72, 216 Mitchell St., Sumas, passed away suddenly at her home Sun. Dec. 16, (1979). Born in England (June 25, 1907), Mrs. Nims moved to British Columbia in 1956 and had been a Sumas resident of the past 5 1/2 years. She was married to her husband Walter in Moscow, Idaho on Oct. 17, 1975. NIMS, Nellie Rittenburg, was born September 30, 1894 in Lynden, WA and passed away February 14, 1990 in Ferndale, WA. She was preceded in death by her husband LeRoy Nims in 1949, her mother Dolly Patterson Rittenburg in 1943, and her father Myles E. Rittenburg in 1938. She is the last generation of grandchildren of Col. James Patterson of Tennessee and Elizabeth Patterson, Native American, who created a dairy farm along the Nooksack River in the early 1860's. This property was later assigned over to Mr. & Mrs. Holden Judson, later to become the city of Lynden, Washington Territory. For many years she and her husband Roy operated the Deming Garage and she was also the Deming Postmistress. After his death she lived in Glacier. She was an accomplished seamstress and delighted her family and friends with many memorable dinners of wild game. She was a lifelong citizen of the world enjoying life to the fullest each day. Her lively spirit and refreshing philosophy to life will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves to survive her son Jack Patterson Nims; grandchildren, Jack LeRoy Nims of Washington, D.C., Debbie Elder of Everett, WA, Matt Nims of New York, NY, Roy Nims of Seattle, WA, Becky Jay of Houston, TX;; numerous great grandchildren and other relatives including Donna Rittenberg Childs, Ron Rittenberg, Edith Olson, James Patterson McDonald, Patricia A. McDonald, Jacqueline McDonald Burt, and Bette Laws. NIMS, Paul E., age 88 of 6145 Hannegan Rd., Everson, passed away in a Bellingham nursing home on Saturday Jan. 8, 1983. A life time county resident, Mr. Nims was born in Sumas [June 27, 1894] and was a retired carpenter. He had also served as a custodian, ship teacher & bus driver at the Old Harmony School for 17 years. He was married to Florence Brill in Bellingham on Dec. 20, 1969. He is survived by his wife Florence; 2 sons, Robert & wife Shirley and Carl and wife Elaine all of Bellingham; a daughter, Muriel Wichers of Seattle; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 3 step-sons, Eldon Lord of Ogden, Utah, and Dennis & George Lord of Seattle; numerous nieces & nephews. NIMS, Verl E., 75, of 5584 Rock Road, Sumas, died Saturday (Aug. 9, 1986) at home. Born June 6, 1911, in Sumas, he was a lifetime Sumas resident. Mr. Nims was a retired dairy farmer and attended Sumas Advent Christian Church. He married Eileen Becker on Sept. 4, 1937, in Bellingham. Survivors include his wife of the family home; a son, Eugene of Everson; four daughters, Gayle Nixon and Judith Nims, both of Bellevue, Joy Jordan of Kent and Gloria Smithey of Everson; a brother Harold Nims of Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Beatrice Burr and Fay Kester of Anacortes; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sumas Advent Christian Church. He attended Lynden schools and was married to Jennie Mutch in Lynden on August 17, 1945 and for forty-five years operated a dairy farm on East Boundary Road. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. He is survived by sons James Nipges and wife Karen of Bellingham, Richard Nipges and wife Betty of Lynden and Dennis Nipges of Ferndale; daughters Cindy Snow, Janice Croft and husband Daniel, and Candy VanBoven and husband Randy, all of Lynden; eighteen grandchildren and a brother Ray Nipges of Lynden. Besides his parents, he was preceded by his wife Jennie in 1989; brothers Alfred, Roy and Glen Nipges and son-in-law Craig Snow.

NITZ, Reverend Frederick M. L., age 68, of 406 Gladstone, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, January 25, (1948). Rev. NIX, Clarie B. "Babe," of 510 N. State St., passed away Mon. March 5, 1979. Mrs. Nix was a 60 year resident of Bellingham, and was a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and for many years taught swimming as a volunteer instructor at the YWCA. She was a member of the Niord Swim Club at the YWCA an accomplished weaver she taught weaving locally for 30 years including at the Bellingham Senior Citizens Center. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Bellingham Shipyard during WWII. Mrs. Nix is survived by 1 son, Justin Leo Nix of Lynden; 2 daughters, Mrs. Mary C. NIX, Justin L., age 66 of 1241 Main Street, Lynden passed away in Bellingham on Thursday, July 19, 1984. Born on March 24, 1918 in Concrete, Mr. Nix was a life time county resident and had taught at Lynden High School for 25 years. During WWII he served in the US Navy; was a member of the Mt. Baker American Legion, Post No. 121 in Lynden; Disabled American Veterans, Post 19 of Bellingham; and the Navy League. He was also a member of BPOE, No. 194 of Bellingham, and was married to Jannie Williams in Chula Vista, California on May 16, 1943. NIXON, Elsie Marie Wilke, 88, of Bellingham, WA, died Monday (May 4, 1992) in Bellingham. She was born May 9, 1903 in LaHarpe, Illinois and was a resident of Bellingham for the past 42 years. On December 6, 1973(1921) she married Harold Nixon. Mr. and Mrs. Nixon operated several hotels in Bellingham at various times. Among those hotels were the Savoy, Allan and the Del-Mar. Mrs. Nixon was preceded in death by her husband in 1973 and by a sister, Helen Schugart. Survivors, Sons: Jack Nixon of Bellingham, J. R. Nixon of Verona, KY; brother, John L. Wilke of Abingdon, Il; grandson, Kirk Nixon of Lexington, KY; granddaughters Diane Nixon of Cincinnati, Ohio, Cheryl Glassberg of Northridge, CA, Debbie Lyons and Pam Shannon of Bellingham; 6 great-grandchildren. NIXON, Grace, age 70, passed away in a local hospital Friday, February 26, (1954) following an extended illness. Mrs. Nixon had resided in Bellingham for the past 15 years. She leaves to survive one sister, Mrs. G. Congleton of Centralia. The remains were forwarded to Winlock, Wash., for interment.
NIXON, Harold A., 1303 1/2 Commercial St. died Wednesday, January 3, (1973). He was 71 years old. He was a 22-year resident of Bellingham. He managed the Savoy Hotel where he died. Surviving him are his widow, Elsie; his sons, Jack of Bellingham and Jean of Kentucky. Jones Funeral Home directed services.
NIXON, Howard A. - Private funeral services for Howard A. Nixon, aged 83 years, who passed away at a Seattle hospital Saturday, December 16, (1933) were held from the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home, 210 Prospect street, Tuesday, December 19 at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Samuel Brown officiating, and interment was made in the family plot in Bay View cemetery. Mr. Nixon was a former employe (sic) of the Bellingham water department and for the past five years had made his home in Seattle. He leaves to survive him two daughters and two sons, Miss Beulah Nixon, Mrs. T. Barrow, M. A. Nixon, of Seattle, and H. T. Nixon, of Winlock, Washington.

NIXON, Jason Eric, age 19, passed away Sun. Sept. 8, 1991 in Darrington, WA. He was born May 18, 1972 in B.C., Canada to Roy & Alma Nixon. Jason was a member of Bellingham's East Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, which had an active part in his life. He graduated from Mt. Baker High School in 1990; was very outgoing; loved singing, dancing, skiing; and loved his family and many, many friends. Jason is survived by his parents, Roy & Alma Nixon; brother, Rick Nixon and wife Debbie; sisters, Kim Whitman & her husband Dan, Tami Godfree & husband Brenden, Leslie Steagall & husband Kevin, Paula Franks & husband Marty, Teresa Sanders & husband Ron; grandparents, Lyle & Clarris Collier and Zinner Nixon; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; friends, Jessi & Tiffany Longman, Jason Giles, Joby Fink, Matt Chase, Quinten Schmit, Rachelle Pike, Sandra Pike, Heather Crandel, Cory Patterson, and many others too numerous to mention. Visitation will be held Wed. Sept. 11 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Greenacres Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Thurs. NIXON, Joan Diane "Dee" was born October 16, 1943 in Compton, CA, and passed away December 28, 2004 at home in Blaine, WA. Dee is remembered and sadly missed by her family; husband, Jack; daughter, Jennifer and husband, Ryan O'Connor of Surrey, B.C., Canada; grandchildren, Ciaran, Griffin, and Fallon O'Connor; son, John Nixon of Long Beach, CA; sister Lorna and husband Ron Baldwin of Chino Hills, CA; extended family in Southern CA; and her beloved dog, Orca. Her children would like to thank their dad for the endless amount of love and devotion he gave their mom for the past 33 years, especially during her three and a half year battle with breast cancer. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, January 3, 2005 at Northwood Alliance Church in Blaine at 10:00 AM, with a reception immediately following. Private burial will be held at a later date at Greenacres - Moles Cemetery in Ferndale.
NIXON, Mabel, age 75 years, of 2315 Williams Street, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, Oct. 27, (yr not given) following an extended illness. Mrs. Nixon had resided in Bellingham for the past year and was a former longtime resident of Seattle. She leaves to survive her husband, Percy O. Nixon, at the family home. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Oct. 31, at 9:30 a.m. within the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted Monday, Oct. 31, at 11:30 a.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery in Seattle.
NIXON, Margaret L., age 85 of 1612 Electric Ave., passed away Fri. Aug. 28, 1981. Mrs. Nixon had been a resident of this community for the past 60 years and is survived by 2 sisters, Flossie Rothman of Fort Worth, Texas and Beatrice Ragan of Freemont, Calif.; 2 nieces, Janette Dralle and Mildred Orr of Mt. NIXON, May, 85, died Thursday (February 27, 1981) in a local nursing home. She was born March 26, 1895, in England. She was a Red Cross nurse before becoming an ambulance driver in the British army during World War I. She was honored by the queen for her service. She is survived by two daughters (Mary Smith of Vancouver, B.C. & Marjorie Cole of England), six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. At her request, no services will be held. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home.
NIXON, William T., age 70, 1612 Electric Avenue, passed away in a Seattle hospital Thursday, June 11, (1964). Mr. Nixon was a cook for many years before retirement; was a member of Albert J. Hamilton Post 7, American Legion; DAV Chapter 19; Bellingham Lodge BPOE No. 194, and a veteran of WWI. He is survived by his widow, Margaret L., at home. Services will be conducted by Rev. George Ackley Monday, June 15 at 10:30 a.m., at the Jones Funeral Home, followed by cremation.
