NIBLOCK, Alexander of 1228 Ballew, Everett, WA, died at a local hospital April 25, 1979 after an extended illness. He was born July 18, 1915 in Canada. Mr. Niblock was a retired Lt. Commander from the U.S. Navy, also retired from the Everett School District as a Maintenance Engineer. He was a member of Cabule Lodge No. 116, F & AM Scottish Rights Bodies of Everett, Nile Temple, Snohomish County Shrine Club, Columbia Chapter No. 33, Elks Lodge No. 479 & fleet Reserve Assoc. Branch No. 170. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn F. of the home, 2 step daughters, Mrs. Darlene Lovett of Sedro Woolley & Mrs. Jaqueline Sturlaugson of Bremerton. Sister, Mrs. Kathleen Lalonde of Bellingham. 6 Grandchildren. Rose Croix Services will be conducted at Challacombe-Fickel & Precht Funeral at 11 a.m. Sat. April 28, 1979.

NIBLOCK, Catherine, formerly 1317 Roland St., age 83, passed away Wednesday, November 9, (1966). A fifty-year resident of this city, Mrs. Niblock was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Catherine Campbell Circle of the Church, and a Sunday School teacher for thirty-five years. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Kathleen LaLonde, city; a son, Alexander Niblock of Everett; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; also nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted Monday, November 14 at 1 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home by Rev. Richard B. Cole, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Bay View Cemetery.

NIBLOCK, Edward, age 75 of Yakima, passed away at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, April 5, (1977) in Yakima. He came to Bellingham as a young man from Gilnahark, Ireland, when he was 20 years old. He worked at Bloedel Donovan Fuel Model Truck & Storage, Coast Truck Lines, then over 20 years with Coast Lee Estes and ONC Freight Line, retired in 1963 and traveled extensively until ill health two years ago. Survived by wife, Marie; a daughter, Marion Bouden and 4 grandchildren in Warner Robbins, Georgia; a nephew, Alex Niblock in Everett, Theo Jansen in Bellingham and nieces, Patsy Fizgerald, Nettie Raber, Kathleen LaLonde all in Bellingham as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Ireland. Ed requested no services. The cremated remains will rest at Greenacres Memorial Park, 10 a.m. Monday, April 11.

NIBLOCK, Evelyn Chandler - The funeral for Evelyn Chandler Niblock, 78, of 2091 Grip Road, Sedro-Woolley, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jerns-Leveck Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Woodlawn Cemetery, 5977 Northwest Road, Ferndale. Mrs. Niblock died Jan. 6, 1992, at her home. She was born May 28, 1913, in Point Roberts to T. H. and Jacobina Johnson. Her first husband, Darreld, Chandler, died in 1974. Her second husband, Alex Niblock, died in 1979. Survivors include her daughters, Darlene Lovett of Sedro-Woolley, and Jackie Sturlaugson of Bremerton; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friend, Doris Araway of Ferndale. NIBLOCK, Hugh Bill, age 72, of 1317 Roland St., passed away at home Saturday, Jan. 14, (1961). A resident of Bellingham for the past 44 years, Mr. Niblock had been employed by the City Park Department; was a veteran of World War one; was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7, American Legion. Survivors are his widow, Catherine, at home; one son, Alexander, of Everett; one daughter, Mrs. Kathleen Lalonde, of Bellingham; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a brother, Ed Niblock of Bellingham and several brothers in Ireland; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Jensen, of Bellingham and Mrs. Agnes Forbes in Ontario, Canada. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. Arthur E. Benzenson Monday, Jan. 16 at 3 p. m. Final resting place Bay View Cemetery. Casket bearers will be E. R. Kronstad, John Pettigrew, Pete Rogne, Leigh Simpson, Leo Bishop and Hrnie (sic) McMurchie.

NIBLOCK, Marie Rose, 76, of Yakima, died Tuesday, October 1, 1991 in Yakima Convalescent following an eight year battle with cancer. She was born in Selah on March 22, 1916, the daughter of William and Gertrude (Bragg) Marshall. She attended school in Selah and following her formal education she moved to Bellingham to care for her uncle. While she was in Bellingham she met and later married Edward Niblock in 1935. Mrs. Niblock was employed by BB Furniture as an interior decorator. Later, Marie opened her own shop and filled many homes with her beautiful workmanship. In the late 1960's Marie and Ed moved back to Yakima where she worked for a short time at Schultz Furniture before retiring in 1978, however, she continues to work out of her home for some time. She was happiest when her hands were busy and her hobbies included baking, canning, and gardening. She was formerly a member of a labor union and the Parent Teacher Association. Her surviving family includes one daughter and son-in-law, Marion and Ralph Bouden of Boise, Idaho; two grand-daughters, Debbie Hamilton of Boise, Idaho and Brenda Littlefield of Yakima; two grandsons, Duane and Jim Bouden both of Boise; one nephew, Theo Jenson of Bellingham; two nieces, Nettie and Patsy of Bellingham. She was preceded in death by her brother, father, mother and husband, Ed. At her request, there will be no funeral service. Shaw and Sons Memorial Chapel, Yakima, is in charge of arrangements.

NICHOLAS, Charles Edward, age 90 years, of 1929 King Street, passed away at a local hospital Thursday, May 21, (1953) following a lingering illness. Mr. Nicholas had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 11 years and leaves to survive one son, D. Willard Nicholas, of Bellingham; three grandsons, Edward S. Nicholas, in U. S. Navy, stationed at San Diego; Roy W. in the U. S. Navy, stationed in Oregon, and Franklin W., in California; also three great-grandchildren. Private funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 25, at 10 a.m. within the Chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home with the Rev. James Wilson officiating. Cremation. the family requests that flowers be omitted.

NICHOLAS, D. Willard "Nick" age 66, of 2731 Lynn St., passed away Sunday, Aug. 6, (1961) in a local hospital. Mr. Nicholas was a retired owner and operator of Nick's Pay and Save service Station and had been a resident of this community for the past 32 years. He was a member of Whatcom Lodge No. 151, F. & A. M.; Scottish Rite Bodies; Nile Temple of the Shrine; member and past patron of the Order of Amaranth, Court 25; member and past patron of Maple Leaf Chapter No. 58, O.E.S.; charter member and past watchman of Shepherd of White Shrine of Jerusalem Shrine No. 12; member of Pampa Club; Order of Vasa; and Mace Ramblers. He also had received the grand cross of color from Rainbow Assembly No. 17 and was an honorary member of Ypres Chapter No. 48, O.E.S. of New Westminster, B.C. Surviving relatives include the widow, May M. at the family home; three sons, Roy W. of Bellingham, Edward S. of San Diego, Calif., and Franklin of Lancaster, Calif.; three step-sons, Robert H. Pearson of Bellingham, Don A. Pearson of Marcus Hook, Pa., and Vance C. Bartlett of Seattle; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Alva Pohland of Santa Rosa, Calif.; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. Walter Naff and officers of Whatcom Lodge No. 151, Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 1 p.m. Cremation.

NICHOLAS, May Bartlett - Funeral service for May Bartlett Nicholas, age 99, of 2731 Lynn St., will be Thurs. Jan. 7, 1 p.m. at Immanuel Bible Church, Jeff Grant, pastor, officiating. Interment Bayview Cemetery. Mrs. Nicholas passed away Mon. Jan. 4, 1988. She was born Dec. 10, 1888 in Palmyra, Neb.; came with her parents to Fairhaven, WA in January 1900, moving to Alger, Wa where she lived until 1913, when she married Bert Bartlett. Mr. Bartlett passed away in 1941. July, 1950, she married D. W. Nicholas. Mr. Nicholas passed away Aug. 1961. She was a member of Immanuel Bible Church; Past Worthy Matron of Maple Leaf Chapter No. 58 OES; Past Matron Bellingham Court No. 25, Order of Amaranth; Past High Priestess of Nazareth Shrine No. 12; White Shrine of Jerusalem; member of Hatasu Temple No. 1, Daughters of the Nile. She leaves to survive 1 son, Roy W. & wife Dolores Nicholas of City; sister-in-law, Dorothy J. Gidlund of Mt. Vernon; 8 grandchildren; many nieces and a nephew Charles D. & Eula Hilsinger of Mt. NICHOLAS, Vera D., age 48 years, passed away at the family residence, 310 Flora Street, Sunday, June 27, (1948) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Nicholas had been a resident of Bellingham for the past seven years, was an attendant of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, was a member of the Maple Leaf Chapter No. 58, O. E. S., of Bellingham; of the Nazareth Shrine No. 12, W. S. J., and Hatasu Temple No. 1, Daughters of the Nile, of Seattle; also the Order of Vasa. Surviving relatives include her husband, W. Willard Nicholas; one daughter, Miss Lloydene Fader, Bellingham; five brothers, J. Logan and C. Fletcher Lane, of Everett, George E. Lane, Victoria, B. C., N. Gilbert Lane, San Francisco, and L. Wilbur Lane, Portland, Ore.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Harris, Concrete, Wash.; three step-sons, Roy Nicholas, at home, Edward S. and Franklin Nicholas, both in California. NICHOLLS, Chester A., age 72 of 5185 LaBounty Road, Bellingham, passed away Thursday, July 30, 1981. Mr. Nicholls was raised and lived in the Ferndale community; he also lived in several other places including Bremerton. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and The Bremerton Eagles Lodge. Survivors include: his wife Dolores at home; 1 daughter, Laurie Mason of Bremerton; a sister, Maxine Ferry of Ferndale; a grandson, Tracy Mason of Bremerton; numerous nieces & nephews. Vigil services will be held Sunday, August 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Moles Funeral Home. NICHOLS, Alva A., age 75 years, 2105 Ellis Street, passed away at a local hospital Tuesday, December 18, (1945). Mr. Nichols was a retired farmer and had resided in this community the past twenty-five years. Surviving relatives are the widow, Emma, at home; two sons, Clarence J. and Bud E. Nichols, of this city; two daughters, Hazel M. Hoff at Lawrence, and Constance E. Breckenridge at Bremerton, and nine grandchildren. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. M. Keller, Thursday, December 20 at 1:30 p.m. Final resting place, Woodlawn.

NICHOLS, Arvilla M., age 91, of 1411 High Street passed away in a local hospital Saturday, October 5, (1957) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Nichols had resided in Bellingham the past 68 years and was a member of the Congregational Church. She leaves to survive one son, Walter R. of Friday Harbor; two daughters, Miss Ethel Nichols of this city and Mrs. Vesta M. Higginson of Seattle, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Private family graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 8 at 3:30 p.m. at Bayview Cemetery with Rev. Carl Calhoun, pastor, officiating, under the direction of the Westford Funeral Home.

NICHOLS, Bud E., age 72 of Escondido, California, passed away Sun., July 20, 1980 in Escondido. Mr. Nichols had been a resident of Whatcom County from 1920-1977 before moving to Escondido. He was the owner and operator of the Double D Egg Ranch at Lake Samish. He is survived by his wife Ethel; 1 son, Dana of Ferndale; 3 daughters, Nola Pulver of Ferndale; Shirley Jones of Bellingham; Gladys Dyer of Escondido; 2 sisters, Hazel Hoff of Medford, Oregon; Connie Breckenridge of Anacortes; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; numerous other relatives. Graveside services will be held Fri., July 25 at 3:30 p.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park under the direction of Moles Funeral Home.

NICHOLS, Clarence E., age 64 years, 3122 Cedarwood, passed away suddenly Thursday, October 31, (1946). Mr. Nichols had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past eight years, and was employed as timber piler by the International Cross Arms Co., of South Bellingham. He was a member of the American Central Lutheran Church and the Lumber and Sawmill Worker's Local Union, No. 2842. Surviving relatives include two sisters in Webster City, Iowa, Mrs. Lydia Seller and Mrs. Alice Cross; also nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 5, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Earl Soiland officiating. Interment near New Westminster Cemetery.

NICHOLS, Clinton C., age 71, of 2614 Ellis St., passed away in a local hospital Saturday, Aug. 19, (1950). Mr. Nichols, a resident here for the past 26 years, was a retired truck driver and had attended the Garden St. Methodist church. He leaves to survive, the widow, Mrs. Nellie M. Nichols, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Johnston, and Mrs. Jessie Moena, both of this city; four sons, Lester F., Clifford C., and Floyd C. Nichols, all of this city, and Harold W. Nichols of Oak Harbor; 15 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Hattie Ecker, of this city; and one brother, John E. Nichols, also of this city. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth, where services will be conducted by the Rev. Daniel E. Taylor, Tuesday, August 22, at 1 p.m. Final resting place, Greenacres Memorial Park.

NICHOLS, Delorse - Funeral services for Mrs. Delorse Nichols, 1215 Jersey Street, who passed away Sunday, January 5, (1941), after a lingering illness, were held from the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home, Monday morning, January 6, conducted by Dr. James Milligan, pastor of the Garden Street Methodist Church. Interment was made in Bay View Cemetery. Mrs. Nichols was 88 years of age, had been a resident of Bellingham for the past thirty-eight years and was an attendant of the Garden Street Methodist Church. She leaves to survive her, two sons and one daughter, Alburtis Nichols of the city, Walter Nichols, Sedro-Woolley, Wash., and Mrs. Memory Anne Lee, Seattle, Wash.; also five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

NICHOLS, Dennis Paul, age 8, of 2556 Shallow Shore Rd. passed away at home Sunday, Feb. 12, (1961). A life resident of Bellingham, Dennis was a student at Franklin School and was a member of the Garden St. Methodist Church. Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bud E. Nichols; one brother, Dana; three sisters, Gladys and Nola, all at home and Mrs. Shirley Jones of Bellingham. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Don Swerdfeger, Friday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park.

NICHOLS, Edward, age 70, of 3126 Orleans St., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 19, (1977). Mr. Nichols was a 30 year resident of this community, a member of the DAV, a retired inspector for the U.S. Treasury Dept. Surviving wife, Eva; 3 daughters, Mrs. Ruth Holmes, Mrs. Peggy Ann Rothenbuhler, both city, Mrs. Carol Lee Neely, Centralia; 2 brothers, Leonard of Wood Bridge, Virginia, Robert of Waltham, Mass.; 6 grandchildren. NICHOLS, Edward J. age 93 of Bellingham passed away November 21, 1997 at his residence. He was born October 18, 1904 in Franklin, King County Washington. The son of Charles Henry and Sarah (Sally) Nichols. Mr. Nichols joined Blake Moffit and Towne Paper Co. in Seattle, they transferred him to Everett and then to Bellingham in 1934. He retired in 1970. Preceded in death by his wife, Peggy in 1966. Survived by his cousin, Lolly Whittington of Woodinville; nephew, Louis (Topper) Gray of Pullman; great niece, Jane Gray of Federal Way; and niece Georgie Lindell of Mt. Vernon. Mr. Nichols had many friends and business acquaintances in Whatcom and Skagit Counties. Memorial Services will be held at Westford Funeral Home 1:00 a.m. (sic) Friday, November 28, 1997.

NICHOLS, Emma - Mrs. John B. Nichols, of 2317 I Street, passed away Monday evening, July 8, (1946) after a six months illness. Mrs. Nichols was 77 years of age and had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 70 years. She is survived by her husband, John; two sons, Charles and Earl Ferguson and two daughters, Mrs. Ray C. Smith and Mrs. Vern Lang, all of Bellingham; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Bert Garris and one sister, Miss Lizzie Garris, both of Bellingham. Funeral services were conducted from the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home Thursday, July 11 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ray S. Wagoner officiating. Interment in Enterprise Cemetery.

NICHOLS, Emma Bertha, age 79 years, passed away Monday, May 17, (1954) at the home of her daughter in Anacortes where she had resided the past seven years. Mrs. Nichols was a member of the Anacortes Lutheran Church and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Harold Breckenridge, Anacortes, Mrs. Hazel Hoff of Bellingham; two sons, Butler and Clarence Nichols, both of Bellingham; one sister, Mrs. Ella Manley; three brothers, Carl Larson, Brownsville, Ore., Ole and Clark Larson, Gayville, S. D., and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 21, at 1 p.m. in the Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home under the direction of the Jackson Funeral Home in Anacortes with Rev. Arthur J. Knutzen officiating. Interment Woodlawn.

NICHOLS, Ethel S., age 89 of Bellingham, a lifetime Whatcom County resident, died on Saturday, November 15, 1997. She was born in Deming, WA, to George and Frances (Stoddard) Shumway on March 31, 1908. In 1926 she graduated from Mt. Baker High School; she attended Garden Street Methodist Church. She married Bud Nichols who preceded her in death in July 1980; and son Dennis Paul Nichols in February 1961. Mrs. Nichols worked as a waitress at the Hillview Dairy then later working on the family chicken farm. After retirement Bud and Ethel traveled in their Winnebago. Her hobbies included quilting, reading and painting. She was a member of the Evergreen Quilters. Mrs. Nichols is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Delbert Jones of Bellingham, Gladys and Richard Dyer of Escondido, CA, Nola and Steve Pulver of Ferndale; son and daughter-in-law Dana and Darlene Nichols of Wenden, AZ; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; sister Georgia Hassett of Redmond, OR. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, November 19, 1997, 2:00 p.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park. Arrangements by Moles Funeral Home & Cremation Service.

NICHOLS, Evelyn A., age 50, 3011 Elm Street, passed away Monday, June 20, (1966). Mrs. Nichols was a lifetime resident of this city, and was a member of Ladies Auxiliary, F.O.E. Aerie No. 31. She is survived by her husband, Clifford; 2 daughters, Mrs. Carol Parris and Mrs. Bonnie Kness, both of this city; a son, Richard, at home; thirteen grandchildren; mother, Mrs. Helen Tomlin, Lummi Island; two brothers, George Tomlin, city, and Millard Tomlin of Columbus, Ohio, and a sister, Mrs. May Clifton of Lummi Island; a half-sister, Myrtle Willard and 2 half-brothers, Ernest Tomlin and Adolph Tomlin, all of Seattle. Services will be conducted by Rev. Joe Walker Friday, June 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home. Final resting place Greenacres Memorial Park.

NICHOLS, Floyd C., age 70, 2211 Huron, passed away Sun. Nov. 22, (1987) in a local hospital. He was retired treasurer of Brooks Lumber Co.; also employed as a comptroller with Bell-Boats; WWII Veteran having served in Europe. He was past adjutant American Legion Post No. 7; involved as a volunteer with American Legion Baseball and Bellingham Bells Baseball; member of VFW; Bellingham Elks Club & Bellingham Yacht Club. Survived by his wife Florence; 2 sons, Gary & Bob, both of Bellingham; 2 daughters, Gina & husband Richard Myers of Seattle, Susan & husband Jay Sailger of Bellingham. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wed. Nov. 25 at Assumption Church with Father John Madigan officiating. Under the direction of the Westford Funeral Home.

NICHOLS, George C., age 68, of Sedro Woolley resident of the past 66 years died at his home Wed. Nov. 14, 1979. He was born in Bellingham in 1911. Came to Skagit County with his parents at the age of 2. His marriage to Doris McKee took place in Mt. Vernon, Oct. 10, 1936. He had been employed in the Logging Industry and saw mill work. For 25 years, he was a fuel oil truck driver for the Skagit Supply Co. Retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Sedro Woolley I.O.O.F. Lodge. Survived by his wife Doris at the family home, 1 son Gordon of Sedro Woolley. A daughter, Linda Mitchell of Sedro Woolley. 3 brothers, Owen, of Bellingham, Raymond of Lyman and Harvey of Sedro Woolley. Also 7 grandchildren. Funeral services Sat. Nov. 17, at Lemley Chapel, Sedro Woolley at 11 a.m. Interment Sedro Woolley, I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

NICHOLS, Helen Marie, 88, of Lynden, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sept 27, 2005. She leaves behind her loving and caring husband of 18 years Theodore C. Nichols, and her two children Doug Storaasli and wife Nancy, and Karen Fisher and husband Don; six granddaughters, Terri Fehr, Lauri Whims, Sandi Keough, Lisa DenBleyker, Amy Westerhof, Mackenzie Tavis and their husbands; and 15 great-grandchildren, who will miss their "G.G." very much. Helen was preceded in death by her first husband of 49 years, Byron "Bud" Storaasli, and infant daughter Sandra Lee Storaasli. Helen had a very strong faith in God and always prayed for her family and friends. Her family was the most important thing to her. She loved being surrounded by all of them and always loved it when a new baby arrived. She was a fabulous cook and could make you laugh out loud. Helen suffered from Alzheimer's disease, but now she is at peace. Her family wishes to express their thankfulness for the wonderful, loving care she received at Lynden Manor and to all of the Hospice staff who so lovingly guided us all through to the end of Helen's earthly life. A private family memorial to Helen's honor will be held on Oct 21, 2005.

NICHOLS, James R., age 63, Everson Route 2, passed away Friday, August 20, (1948) at a local hospital. Surviving relatives include his wife, Clara; one daughter, Mrs. Iris Jackson, of Everson; one son, Billy, Sedro-Woolley, Route 2; one sister, Mrs. Florence Hayes, Kansas; one grandson. Private services will be conducted in the Gillies chapel in Sumas, Monday, August 23, at 2 p.m. with George Weston officiating. Final resting place, Hopewell Cemetery.

NICHOLS, John B., age 92, who resided at 1201 Raymond St., passed away in a local hospital on Friday, Sept. 9, (1961) following an extended illness. Mr. Nichols had resided in Bellingham and vicinity for the past 71 years. He was a member of the Latter Day Saints Church. He leaves to survive his wife, Mrs. Isabelle Nichols, 1 daughter, Mrs. Margarite Lubke both of Bellingham, 1 granddaughter Mary LaMont of Seattle, also 2 great-grandchildren, 1 sister, Mrs. Ella Pike of Samish Island. Pastor, Percy O'Neil and Pastor James Hoag will conduct funeral services on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 1:30 o'clock in the Chapel of Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home. Followed by cremation.

NICHOLS, John E., age 76, of 1326 Grant Street, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, October 4, (1951). Mr. Nichols resided here almost continuously since 1915 and had been a supervisor of grain elevators. He attended the Baptist church. He leaves to survive, his wife, Mrs. Mary A. Nichols, and one daughter, Mrs. Florence A. N. Jones, both at home, and numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth, where services will be conducted by the Rev. John E. Parrott Monday, October 8, at 3:30 p.m.

NICHOLS, Laska, age 65 years, of Lynden, passed away Thursday, June 19, (1947) following a lingering illness. He had been a resident of the Lynden district for the past twenty-four years, and was a member of the Lynden Methodist Church. Surviving are the wife, Amanda; two daughters, Mrs. LeRoy Taylor, Oak Harbor, Mrs. Carl Julius, Point Roberts; one son, Major William C. Nichols, with the U.S. army in Aomori, Japan; also five grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 21, at 2 p.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden, Rev. Paul R. Campbell officiating. Interment in Lynden Cemetery.

NICHOLS, Lena E., 92, of 197 Chuckanut Point Road died Sunday (Dec. 16, 1990) in Bellingham. She was born Lena E. Hatley on Feb. 19, 1898, in Dayton, Wash. She had lived in Whatcom County most of her life. She married George Nichols. He died earlier. Mrs. Nichols was a life member of First Christian Church. Survivors include a sister, Loretta McQuary of Louisville, Ky., and numerous nieces and nephews, including James F. Bandy of Bellingham. No Whatcom County services will be held. Entombment will be in Belle Passi Mausoleum in Woodburn, Ore. Arrangements are by Jones-Moles Funeral Home.

NICHOLS, Lenore, age 82 of the Bellingham Residential Hotel passed away Monday, Dec. 27, (1976). Mrs. Nichols had been a resident of Bellingham for many years and was a member of the Washington State Retired Teachers Association. She leaves to survive 1 sister, Mrs. Naomi Thomas Wirth of this city; 1 step brother, William T. Thomas of Lynnwood, several nieces and nephews and other relatives. NICHOLS, Lonnie, age 30, of 1012 18th St., passed away in a local hospital Saturday, June 11, (1960). Mr. Nichols had resided in Bellingham for the past 3 years; was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ, Latter Day Saints; was formerly employed by the Yellow Cab Ambulance; was a swim instructor at the Y.M.C.A.; was a student at W.W.C.E., where he won the Diving Championship of the Evergreen Conference for 1960. Survivors are his widow, Molly, at home; one son, Bruce Peterson; parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Lyle Nichols, of Everett; two brothers, Homer, of Mount Lake Terrace and Jim, of Everett; one sister, Miss Melody Nichols, of Everett; grandmother, Mrs. Edith Wood, of Spokane. The remains were forwarded by the Jones Funeral Home to the Purdy & Walters Funeral Home in Everett where services will be conducted Wednesday, June 15, at 3 p.m. Final resting place, Cypress Lawn Cemetery.

NICHOLS, Mary Elizabeth of Bellingham passed away on Monday, August 22, 2005, in Bellingham. She was 62, born in Pawnee, OK, on Sept 19, 1942, to Mattie (Armstrong) and Otho Hood. She moved to Bellingham from Kansas City, KS in 2001. Mary was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and Flower Guild. She was an avid gardener, and she loved to cook and read. She had a passion for flowers and a love of cats. She was a fan of Kansas Jayhawk basketball and Wash. State Cougar football. She is survived by sons Kevin of Olathe, KS and Ransom of Bellingham; brothers Walter Hood of Kent and Michael Hood of Bethesda, MD; sister Connie Ralph of Spokane; and many nieces and nephews. Many charities were recipients of Mary's caring and generosity. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 29 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Bellingham.

NICHOLS, Minnie A., age 89, of 226 N. Garden street, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, May 26, (1949). Mrs. Nichols had resided in this community for the past 60 years and was a member of the Garden Street Methodist church and had been quite active in the W.C.T.U. Surviving relatives are three daughters, Mrs. Robert McCormick of Bellingham, Mrs. Relta Cooke of Seattle, and Mrs. Lucille Kuehl of Paso Robles, Calif.; two sons, George R. of Bellingham and Guy of Everett; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Arvilla Nichols of Bellingham. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Alexander P. Aiton Saturday, May 28, at 1:30 p.m. Final resting place Bay View.

NICHOLS, Nelie M., 86, of 1509 E. Victor St., passed away Friday, April 29, (1966). A member of the Garden St. Methodist Church, Mrs. Nichols was a 42 year resident of Bellingham and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F. W. NICHOLS, Peggy I., of 1244 Island View Drive, passed away in a local hospital Monday (March 21, 1966). Mrs. Nichols had resided in Bellingham for the past 33 years and was a member of the Garden Street Methodist Church. She leaves to survive her husband, Edward J. of the family home; 1 sister, Mrs. George Roberts of Victoria. NICHOLS, Richard "Dick" age 82, passed away Thurs., June 8, 1978, after a lingering illness in Veterans Hospital in Portland, Ore. He was born and raised in Bellingham until he entered WWI. He married Lena Hatley, a local girl, lived in Woodburn Estates, Woodburn, Ore., where his wife still resides. Other survivors are his 3 sisters, Lyda McCormick of B'ham, Relta Cook of Seattle and Lucile Riddel of Paso Robles, Ca.; numerous nieces & nephews.

NICHOLS, Roy Gilbert - Funeral services for Roy Gilbert Nichols, 63, 2392 Douglas Rd., were held Monday in Westford Funeral Home. He died Thursday (Nov. 16, 1972). Mr. Nichols had lived in the community for 10 years and was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union. Survivors include the widow Sarah; a daughter, Mrs. Pat Pengelly of Lafayette, Calif.; a son, Richard of Concord, Calif.; two step sons, Robert of Anaheim, Calif. and Lawrence Gallaher of Bellingham; and eight grandchildren. NICHOLS, Samuel S., age 67, of 1438 Meridian Road, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, Nov. 6, (1948). Mr. Nichols had resided in this community for the past two years and was a retired Civil engineer. Surviving relatives are the widow, Mrs. Lenore Nichols at home; one son, Bruce, of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Cox, of New York City, N. Y., and Mrs. Lucy Long, of Huntington, Indiana. NICHOLS, Virginia J. "Andy" 75, of 3805 Consolidation, Bellingham, passed away at home on Wed. Mar. 31, 1993. She was born May 29, 1917 in Sedro Woolley, WA to Simon A. and Nelle Mae Anderson. In 1928 she moved to Bellingham and graduated from Whatcom High School in 1935. A long time member of St. Luke's Hospital Adda Knox Auxiliary, member currently of Evergreen Quilters, Washington Territorial Daughters and VFW Post #1585 Ladies Auxiliary. She married Owen "Nick" Nichols April 14, 1940 while employed at Northern State Hospital in Sedro Woolley. Survived by her husband of 52 years, Owen "Nick" Nichols; daughter, Judy Moldver of Bellingham, Jan Chapman and husband Ray of Bellingham; sisters, Shirley Demers and husband Bill of Seattle and Jeanne Hedington of Seattle; brother, Simon K. Anderson and wife Nora of Bellingham; grandchildren Eric and Arron Moldver, Christina, Steven and Bryan Chapman; numerous nieces and nephews. She loved poetry, needle craft, quilting, enjoyed camping and fishing. There will be a visitation on April 5 and 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m at Westford Funeral Home. NICKOLSEN, George Paul, Jr., of Ferndale, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2001. He was 48. Born April 27, 1953, to Lora (Williams) and George P. Nickolsen, Sr. in Seattle, WA. George was involved in commercial fishing & crabbing. He also worked for Lummi A & W for 3 years as cook and cashier. He was always very happy. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted man who loved to smile. He attended NW Indian College and served in the U.S. Army. NICHOLSON, Faith Louise, age 25 of Blaine passed away in a local hospital following a short illness. She had been a lifetime resident of Blaine and is survived by her husband Glenn, two sons Michael and Mark and one daughter Malinda all at home. NICHOLSON, Harold P., 56, 409 16th St. died today. Mr. Nicholson had resided here for 30 years and was a salesman for Bargreen and Von Bargen. NICHOLSON, John T. - Funeral services for John T. Nicholson, 63, of Burlington will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lemley Chapel. Burial will follow at the Sedro Woolley Union Cemetery. Mr. Nicholson died Sunday at United General Hospital. He was born in Idaho in 1912 and lived in the Mount Vernon area for several years. From 1941 until his retirement in 1973, he lived in Bremerton where he was employed in the U.S. Navy shipyards. Mr. Nicholson is survived by his wife Mary; one brother, Charles McDonnell of Portland; one sister, Betty Redmonds of Freeland, and his mother, Mamie McDonnell of Mount Vernon. He was a member of the Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association.

NICKEL, Paul P., age 72, 1210 J Street, passed away at home Tuesday, Dec. 18, (1962). Mr. Nickel was a 10-year resident of Anacortes prior to moving to Bellingham eight years ago. He was a retired laborer, having been employed by the Whiz Fish Co., and was a Navy veteran. Two sons and one daughter in California survive, as well as a sister, Mrs. John Donken, St. Cloud, Minn., and one brother, Joe Nickel, also of St. Cloud. Graveside services will be conducted at Woodlawn Cemetery by the Rev. Father W. Robert Webb, Monday, Dec. 24, at 10 a.m. under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home.

NICKERSON, Louis J. of Lynden died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997. He was 55. No services will be held. Born Nov. 19, 1941, to Raymond and Sally Herring Nickerson in Everett, he grew up in the Everett area and moved to Whatcom County in the 1970s. He married Kathleen Cook on Dec. 12, 1975, in Lynden. Mr. Nickerson worked as a pressman and enjoyed fishing and gardening. Survivors include his wife of Lynden; son Tim VanLohuizen of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Rob VanLohuizen of Grants Pass, Ore., and Will NIckerson of Bellingham; five grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. NICKESON, Mabel I., age 64, passed away at the family home, 3819 York Street, Friday, Dec. 28, (1951). Mrs. Nickeson had been a resident of this community for the past 11 years; was a member of the Gladstone Methodist Church, Women's Society of Christian Service of that church, and was a member of the auxiliary of the Spanish American War vets. Surviving relatives are her husband, B. R., at home; three sons, Ralph C., of Bellingham, Earl F., of Norwich, Conn., and Wayne C., of Waterloo, Iowa; four grandchildren and one brother. NICKESON, Wayne Clifford, age 45, of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away in that city, Tuesday, March 1, (1955). Mr. Nickeson was a professional musician, was a member of the Methodist Church and the Musicians Union. Surviving relatives include his father, Bert R. Nickeson of Bellingham; two brothers, Ralph C. of this city and Earl F. of Norwich, Conn.; one aunt, Mrs. Ina Wright of Waterloo, Iowa. NICKLAS, Carl Leonard - A memorial service for Carl Leonard Nicklas, formerly of Bellingham, will be at 2 p.m. today in Kennewick. Mr. Nicklas died Thursday, March 27, 1997, in Seattle. He was 89. Born April 13, 1907, to Philip and Maria Nicklas in Oakland, Calif., he married Thea Nettelman on May 29, 1941, in San Francisco. Mr. Nicklas worked for Anaconda Copper mining company in Montana, Simplot Fertilizer Co. in Pocatello, Idaho, and St. Regis Paper Co. in Tacoma. After retiring in 1967, he lived in Bellingham. He moved to the Tri-Cities in 1988. A member of First Presbyterian Church, Mr. Nicklas was an avid Bingo player. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Survivors include his wife, daughter Ellie Holm of Kennewick, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one niece and three nephews.

NICKOLS, Millie Prudence, age 86 of Mosquito Lake Rd., Deming, passed away Sunday, July 18, (1976). A resident of this community for the past 69 years, Mrs. Nickols was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Senior Citizens at Welcome and had been employed as a school clerk at Welcome for several years at which time she worked for and obtained a hot lunch program for the school. NICKOLS, Victor O., age 29, of Deming, passed away in a Seattle hospital, Thursday, September 16, (1948). Mr. Nickols had resided in this community for the past 20 years and was a logger. Deceased was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and leaves to survive his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guilford Nickols, of Deming; two sisters, Mrs. Stanley F. Hull, of Bellingham, and Mrs. Hjelmer Andreiason, of Custer; two brothers, Donald, of Deming, and Herbert, of San Diego, Calif. NICKSON, Evan E., age 92, of Bellingham, passed away in a Seattle Hospital, Sunday, Nov. 27, (1955). Mr. Nickson was a pioneer resident of the Blaine-Custer area. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Margaret Dyer of Kansas City, Mo., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from the Bonney-Watson Funeral Home, Seattle, Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 10 a.m. The remains will be forwarded to Bellingham where graveside services and interment will be held at the Woodlawn Cemetery at 1 o'clock.

NICOL, Synva K., passed away Friday, October 20, 1978 in Northfield, Minnesota where she was visiting relatives. Associate professor emeritus of Western Washington University, Miss Nicol came to Bellingham in 1937, and lived here since that time. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday (Oct. 27) at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 18th and McKenzie. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 24) at the Lyle Funeral Home in Fresno, California, followed by interment at the Mt. View Cemetery in Fresno, Calif. Survivors are sisters, Mrs. John Hodgin of Riverdale, Georgia and Mrs. Charles Chevront of Lewisburg, West Virginia; and a niece, Dr. Susan Gardner of Huddleston, Virginia. Miss Nicol was active in the Bellingham Branch of the American Association of University Women, Retired Teachers Association, Music Club and Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. The family suggests remembrances to the organ and music fund at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.

NICOLAAS, Henry J., age 83 of 1333 West Axton Road, Ferndale, passed away, Sunday, August 23, 1981. Mr. Nicolaas had been a resident of Ferndale since 1928; he retired from the Hill Lumber Company where he had worked for 20 years; he also had been a dairy farmer and member of the Darigold Association; and founded Nicolaas Auto Wrecking. He is survived by his wife Gertie of Ferndale; 3 sons, Harry of Bellingham; Henry and Elmer, both of Ferndale; 1 daughter, Etta Barnes of Ferndale; 1 sister, Henrietta Freuhling of Seattle; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted by Dr. Wilfred Gunderson Thursday, August 27, at 1:30 p.m. in Greenacres Memorial Park. Burial under the direction of Moles Funeral Home.

NICOLAY, Burkhart Frederick, age 70 years, of 3027 Elizabeth Street, passed away at the family home June 26th, (1954) following a brief illness. Mr. Nicolay had been a resident of Whatcom County and Bellingham for the past 58 years and was a member of the Church of the Assumption, and for 41 years was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. He leaves to survive his wife Grace E. Nicolay, one son William B.; one daughter, Mrs. Katherine L. Smith of Bellingham; 4 grandchildren; and one brother, Leo Nicolay, in California. Rosary will be recited in the Chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist Jerns Funeral Home Monday, June 28th, at 7:30 p.m. Requiem Low Mass will be said Tuesday, June 29th, at 9:30 a.m. within the Church of the Assumption with the Reverend Bernard Cremer, celebrant. Interment Bay View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be G. L. Cross, W. J. Thompson, Clark Robinson, Jess Walton, Lon Hunt and Bert Plough.

NICOLAY, Grace E. - Funeral services for Grace E. Nicolay, of 1400 12th St., Bellingham, will be Wed., Sept. 12, at 1:00 p.m. in Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bayview Cemetery. Mrs. Nicolay passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 1984. A Whatcom County resident since 1913, she was a member of the Panaca Club; Rome Grange; Royal Neighbors; and the Rebecca Lodge. She is survived by a son, William B. Nicolay, city; half-sisters, Mrs. Juanita Plemon and Mrs. Flora Hale, Bellingham, Mrs. Dora Hopefield, Seattle; 4 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren. NICOLL, Etta, age 75, a long time Sedro Woolley resident, died Tues., Jan. 24, (1978). She was born in Sedro Woolley, Nov. 27, 1902. She received her teaching degree from Bellingham Normal school and taught school for over 40 years. She was a member of the St. James Episcopal church, the Rebekah Lodge, the Woman's Club, Territorial Daughters and the Skagit Co. Historical Society. Recently she had taken an active part in organizing activities and tours for senior citizens. Survived by 2 daughters, Marge Peters, Sedro Woolley, Jackie Wiggins, Edmonds; a brother, Arthur Pitman, Seattle; 3 sisters, Shirley Pitman, Sedro Woolley, Esther Leigh, Mt. Vernon, Florence Herndon, Seattle and 7 grandchildren. Memorials to the St. James Episcopal Church, the Skagit Co. Historical Society, or the American Diabetes Assoc. Services Sat., Jan. 28, 1:30 p.m., St. James Episcopal Church, Sedro Woolley. Interment IOOF Cemetery.

NICOLL, Thomas F., age 88 of 106 Gilligan Way, passed away Monday, Dec. 8, (1975). He had been a resident since 1901, was retired owner of the Marietta Shingle Mill and was a member of the Congregational Church. Survived by 2 grandchildren, Thomas Cline of Lacey and Mrs. Caren Wilkinson of Torrance, Calif.; 1 sister, Mrs. Phyla Wells, Seattle, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Etta Nicoll, Sedro Woolley. Funeral services Thursday, Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. within the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Rev. Elmer Erickson officiating. Interment Blaine Cemetery. Memorials to the American Cancer Society.
