KNAACK, Marie Magdalena, age 89, of 111 Central Ave., passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, Feb. 29, (1956). Mrs. Knaack came to the United States from Germany in 1886, and had been a resident of this community for the past 49 years, and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Surviving relatives include one son, Rudolph H. Knaack of Spokane; one daughter, Mrs. Anna M. Spees of this city; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a half-sister in Germany; numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. Clarence Haugen Friday, March 2, at 3 p.m. Final resting place Bay View.KNAACK, Sopie, age 80 years, of 2405 D Street, passed away at her home Sunday noon, April 25, (1948) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Knaack had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 42 years, and was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church. She is survived by three sons; Herman H. Knaack, of Seattle, Walter Knaack, and Robert H. Knaack, both of the city; two daughters; Mrs. Lillie Braun, and Mrs. Amanda Heuman, both of the city; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; one brother, William Runge, of Moline, Illinois; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Mizer, Mrs. Augusta Hanson, and Mrs. Louisa Arnold, all of Moline, Illinois. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 27, at 2 p.m. within the Cathedral chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home with Rev. Meinhart A. P. Keller pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, officiating, followed by cremation.
KNAACK, Walter R., age 56 years, of 503 Irving, passed away suddenly in a Mount Vernon hospital, Friday, December 7, (1951). A resident of Bellingham for the past 44 years, Mr. Knaack was a member of the Lutheran Church, a veteran of World War I, member of American Legion Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7. At the time of his death he was secretary-treasurer of the National Farm Loan Association. He is survived by his wife, Hilda L.; one brother, Herman Knaack, Seattle; two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Heuman and Mrs. Lillian Braun, both of this city; five nieces. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 10, at 2 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck funeral home with the Rev. E. M. Butenshoen, pastor of the St. John's Lutheran Church, officiating. Cremation.
KNAAK, Wilma Trent, 92, 702 32nd St., died Saturday (March 9, 1985). Born Aug. 5, 1892 in Iowa, she came to Bellingham in 1928. Her late husband was Dr. Albert Hugo Knaak, a dentist here for many years. Mrs. Knaak had been a supervisor of teacher training at Western Washington State College, and was on the board of trustees of St. Luke's General Hospital. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and of Chapter F, P.E.O. She is survived by nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Greenacres Memorial Park, with the Rev. John Langlitz officiating. Friends wishing to attend may meet at Jones Funeral Home one half-hour earlier.

KNAPMAN, Louisa Jane, age 75, of Route 3, Bellingham, passed away at the family home, Wednesday, November 30, (1949) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Knapman had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 18 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Fred W. Knapman, of this city; three daughters, Mrs. John Giarde, of Route 3, Bellingham, Miss Elsie Knapman, this city, and Mrs. Louis Pozzi, of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. Also two brothers and one sister, in England. Five grandchildren and many other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 2, at 2 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck funeral home with the Rev. John E. Parrott, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Interment in Greenacres Memorial Cemetery.
KNAPMAN, Sidney R., age 76, of Blairmore, Alberta, Canada, passed away suddenly Friday, August 5, (1949) at his home. He is a retired plumbing contractor and had been a resident of that district for the past twenty-nine years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Louisa Knapman, of Bellingham; one son, Fred W. Knapman, city; three daughters, Miss Elsie Knapman, city; Lillian Pozzi, Calgary, Alberta; Mrs. John Giardie, city, and five grandchildren. The remains will be received Wednesday, August 10, by the Westford-Beck Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park.
KNAPP, Cecile C., age 88, of Lynden, passed away at a local hospital Saturday, June 10, (1950) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Knapp had been a resident of Lynden for the past 44 years. Surviving relatives include her son, J. Harold Knapp, of Seattle; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 12, at 10:30 a.m. within the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden, with the Rev. Cecil Barner officiating. Interment in the Lynden Cemetery.
KNAPP, Evelyn G., Port Allegany, Penn., age 75, passed away in a local nursing home Tuesday, April 4, (1967). Mrs. Knapp had been visiting here the past five months. She was a member of the Baptist Church and was a Past Matron of O.E.S., Myrtle Chpter No. 46, of Port Allegany. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Barrie Hull, City; two sons, Jack L. Knapp of Badford [Bradford?], Pa.; Thomas R. Knapp of Port Allegany, Pa.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The remains will be forwarded by the Jones Funeral Home to Port Allegany Pa., for services and burial.
KNAPP, James, age 69 of Blaine, passed away at home Tuesday, Nov. 2, (1965). A retired fisherman he had made his home in Blaine since 1929. Surviving are his wife Mae, 1 daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Brownrigg of Ferndale, 2 sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Porter and Mrs. Maude Larson both in Iowa. Funeral services will be held in the McKinney Funeral Home Thursday, Nov. 4 at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park.
KNAPP, Ora Belle, age 90, of 331 So. Forest St., passed away at 1006 15th St., Friday, June 3, (1960). Mrs. Knapp had resided in Bellingham for the past 42 years and was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. George McCush, of this city; one son, William H. Worden, of Kingsport, Tennessee; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren. KNAPTON, William N., age 68, of 2223 Henry Street, passed away here Thursday, May 3, (1951). Mr. Knapton had resided here for the past 35 years and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Bellingham Aerie No. 31, for which organization he had served a secretary for the past 21 years. Surviving him is his wife, Mrs. Emma B. Knapton, at home; two sons, William D., of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Willard L. Knapton, of Spokane; two grandchildren, Willard L. Jr., also of Spokane, and Mrs. Lester Hook, of this city; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Charlot Dodge, of San Francisco; four half-sisters and two half-brothers, of Salt Lake City. KNAUF, Adelaide, age 95 of 911 Leopold Hotel, Bellingham, passed away Friday, February 6, 1981. Mrs. Knauf had lived in Whatcom County for many years, had been a Bellingham business woman, and had owned and operated the Chuckanut Shell. She had been a member of the Altrussa Club for many years and was a world wide traveler. She is survived by 3 sisters, Mrs. Helen Weaver & Mrs. Hildegard Grow, both of Bellingham; Florence McDonough of Garrett Park, Maryland; several nieces & nephews; and many friends. KNAUS, Henry, age 65, of 1308 W. Illinois St., passed away in a local hospital Friday, May 23, (1952). Mr. Knaus had resided in this community for the past 26 years and was a retired building contractor. Deceased was a member of the Assembly of God, and a former member of the W.C.D.A., and leaves to surviving his widow, Mollie, at home; five sons, Henry and Jake, of Seattle, George of Wickersham, and William and Manuel, both of Bellingham; three daughters, Mrs. Mollie Tinker, Mrs. Katherine Chesney and Mrs. Martha Barnhart, all of Bellingham, and 19 grandchildren. KNAUS, Robert - A graveside service for Bellingham High School graduate Robert M. Knaus, 45, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Greenacres Memorial Park with the Rev. Ken Parker officiating. Visitation will be at Greenacres Funeral Home until 5 p.m. today. Mr. Knaus, of Portland, Ore., died Sunday after an extended illness. He graduated from Bellingham High School and left Bellingham soon after, to pursue a career in printing. Survivors include his mother, Winifred D. Pattison of Bellingham; his father, Manuel Knaus of Thomson, Ga.; and two brothers, Bert Benson of Bellingham and Charles Johnson of Livingston, Texas.
KNAUTZ, Eugene C., age 61 of Seattle passed away Friday, Aug. 20, (1976). He was born in Tacoma and grew up in Bellingham. For the past 4 years he was a director of Church and Community relations for Alcohol Problems Associations. He was a member of the Scientific Marriage Counseling Foundations. Dr. Knautz has been listed in 1975 Who's Who of Washington. Previously he had established the Olympic Peninsula Rural Mission and held pastorates in Baptist Churches of Yakima, Shelton and Spokane, Washington as well as Coeur d'Alene and Lewiston, Idaho. Dr. Knautz was a past president of the Seattle Association of Evangelicals. He was a member of the Judson Baptist Church of Seattle. Survivors include his wife Lyla, a daughter Mrs. Wayne (Jenny) Scott of Kirkland, 2 sons Ken of Lynnwood and Dick of Tacoma, his mother, Mrs. Jessie Knautz of Tacoma and 5 grandchildren. Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Esperance Baptist Church in Edmonds, Washington. Family graveside services will follow at the New Tacoma Cemetery. KNESS, Bonnie J. - Graveside services for Bonnie J. Kness, 54, a lifetime resident of Whatcom County, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Greenacres Memorial Park, with Richard Wyanski, pastor of the United Church of Ferndale, officiating. Mrs. Kness, 2177 Zell Road, Ferndale, died of lung disease Monday at home. She was born Bonnie Willis on Feb. 11, 1935, in Bellingham and was a lifetime resident of Whatcom County. She married Robert Kness on March 11, 1962, in Las Vegas, Nev. Mrs. Kness was a member of Bellingham F.O.E. No. 31. She enjoyed working with ceramics and crocheting. Survivors include her husband; four sons, Robert Kness Jr. of Ferndale, Michael Fisher of Bellingham, Gregory Fisher of Alaska and Roger Huggins of Texas; five daughters, Pamela Fisher, Sandra Bennett and Brenda Causey of Bellingham, Norma Rude of Lynden and Rachelle Powell of Tumbler Ridge, B. KNIGHT, Allen Frank Sr., age 61, of 1571 Fairview, passed away Sunday evening (June 28, 1953) at home. Mr. Knight had been a life resident of this community and for many years had been associated with the former Northwest Hardware. This past few years, Mr. Knight had been in the grocery business with his son, Frank, at the Silver Beach market. Mr. Knight was a member of the Congregational Church and the Bellingham Rotary Club, and leaves to survive his widow, Kelly L., at home; three sons, Allen F. Jr., of Bellingham, Andrew L. of Tacoma, and Frank H. of Bellingham; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Lou Robbins of Bellingham; nine grandchildren, Jimmie Knight of Bellingham, Susan, Patricia, Gregory and Cathy Knight of Tacoma, Kelly Knight of Bellingham, and Robbie, Danny and Ann Robbins of Bellingham. He had been a resident of that community for the past 5 years and was field representative for U-Haul Trailer Co., and was a former well known resident of this community. KNIGHT, Benjamin H., age 59 years, of Maple Falls, Wash., passed away at a local hospital, Saturday, May 15, (1948) the result of an accident at the Maple Falls lumber yard, Thursday. Mr. Knight had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past forty-three years and was manager and part owner of the Maple Falls Lumber Company, and a Jehovah's Witness. Surviving relatives include one son, William A., of Maple Falls; six daughters, Mrs. Florence Setsae, Maple Falls, Mrs. Mildred Ross, Yakima, Mrs. Loraine Withee, Vancouver, Wash., Mrs. Frances Dewarld, Everett, Wash., Misses Merle Ann and Naomi Jean Knight, both at home; two brothers, Charles of Maple Falls, and Earl Knight, of Bellingham; four sisters, Mrs. Albert Kluge, Mrs. Joe Manthey, and Mrs. Melvin Dixon, all of Bellingham, and Mrs. William Wessel, of Everson; also seven grandchildren. KNIGHT, Earl Leslie, age 57 years, of 1137 State Street, passed away at a local hospital Monday, July 6, (1953) following an extended illness. He had been a resident of the county for the past 48 years, and was a member of the American Legion the V. F. W., and the Fisherman's Union, all of Bellingham. Mr. Knight is survived by his wife, Maude; one daughter, Mrs. Evelyn Sams; one son, Leslie; one brother, Charley; three sisters, Mrs. Virgie Kluge, Mrs. Irene Dixon, all of Bellingham, and Mrs. Eunice Wessel, of Everson. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 9, at 2:30 p.m. from the Monroe Funeral Home in Ferndale, with the Rev. Thomas Roddey officiating. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery.
KNIGHT, Elizabeth, age 83 years, of 1509 E. Victor Street, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, July 28, (1951) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Knight is an old-time resident of this community and is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Charity Arnett of Bloomington, Wis.; one brother, John Blank of Bellingham. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, August 1, at 10:30 a.m., within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck funeral home with the Rev. Mrs. E. S. Field of the Gladstone Street Methodist Church officiating. Cremation.
KNIGHT, Elma Louise went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 13, 1997 at the age 75, after a three-year illness following two heart surgeries. She was born September 25, 1921 to Bert and Anna Keller. They, with their four children, moved to Washington when Elma was six. She graduated from Ferndale High School in 1938 at age 16. On January 1, 1940, Elma married Ben Knight. They farmed in Ferndale and Custer before purchasing their 40 acre dairy farm in Deming in 1946, which they named "Derriabar." The couple ran a milk route from Deming to Acme and Glacier and supplied milk to the schools. The Knights moved from Deming to Nooksack in 1991 to be near Nooksack Valley Baptist Church and their many friends there. Elma served the church over 30 years in various ways, including first-grade Sunday school teacher, church clerk and historian. Most memorable to all was her work as flower chairman, arranging three bouquets each Sunday from her extensive dahlia garden. Elma enjoyed gardening and travelling. Elma is survived by her husband, Ben Knight of Nooksack; son Evan Knight of Ferndale; daughters, Susan Wick of Deming and Star Knight of Bellingham; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Ross of Burien and several nephews and nieces. A funeral service will be held at the Nooksack Valley Baptist Church, 1208 E. Main St., Everson, WA at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 1997 with Pastor Craig Hardinger and John J. Ruhlman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Moles Funeral Home 2465 Lakeway Dr at Yew St.
KNIGHT, Keith Duane "Sonny" of Bellingham died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at his home. He was 70. A memorial service will be held later. Born Feb. 22, 1929, in Bellingham, he was a lifelong resident here. He married Donna M. West in Oakridge, Ore. Mr. Knight served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and World War II. He was a park ranger for 30 years. His hobbies included rocks, making jewelry, fishing, camping and hunting. He helped state the Anacortes Food Bank. Survivors include his wife of Georgia; son Avery Knight of Winthrop; brothers Ken Knight of Sunnyside and Carl Knight of North Bend; sister Starr Hagen of Ferndale; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Whatcom Cremation Association.
KNIGHT, La Von (Park) passed away January 7, 2002 at St. Francis Extended Health Care from complications of a stroke she suffered in August of 1999. She was 74. Mrs. Knight was born October 8, 1927 to Lee A. and Helen C. Park. She was a lifelong resident of Bellingham and was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Frank H. Knight II in March of 2001. She is survived by daughter Kelly Follis and husband Christopher of Juneau, Alaska, son Frank H. Knight III, wife Patricia and granddaughters Lindsey and Krista, all of Bellingham. She also leaves brother Gene Park, sister Colleen Quady, both of Bellingham, and sister Joan Coates of Seattle. La Von was a very proud homemaker, call "Mrs. Clean" by some neighbors, loved to cook and garden and was an excellent piano player. She joyfully served at School Pianist during her years at Bellingham High School. A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2002 with interment at Bayview Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Jones-Moles Funeral Home.

(Bessie) Storey of Grand Prairie, and Mrs. H. (Edith) Wilson of Bellingham, a granddaughter, Mrs. G. KNIGHT, Oscar, age 65 years, of Glacier, passed away at a local hospital, Wednesday, November 21, (1951) following a lingering illness. Mr. Knight had been a resident of the Glacier community for the past 32 years and was a retired logger. He is survived by his wife, Nellie; one son, Gloman in Portland, Ore.; one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Alter in Los Angeles, Calif. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 24, at 1 p.m. within the Glacier Church with Miss Mildred King, pastor, officiating. KNIGHT, Pauline, age 70, who resided at 1623 Smith Rd., passed away at the residence on Wednesday, July 15, (1959) following an extended illness. Mrs. Knight had been residing here for the past year with her daughter, Mrs. Vivian Thompson of Bellingham. She also leaves to survive another daughter, Mrs. Alice Zesltra of New York, also five grandchildren. The remains will lie in state in the Chapel of the Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home until Thursday, July 16 when they will then be forwarded to Clarkson, Neb., where funeral arrangements are pending.
KNIGHT, Rose F., of Sumas, passed away Tuesday, March 20, (1945) at the age of 52 years. She had been a resident of the Sumas district for the past 20 years and leaves to mourn, her husband, Ben H. Knight; six daughters, Mrs. Florence Setsaa, of Oakland, California, Mrs. Mildred M. Ross, of Anaconda, Montana, Mrs. Loraine Withie, of Vancouver, Washington, Miss Frances Knight, of Everett, Merle and Naomi, at the family home; one son, William, and her father, William Schoening, both of Sumas; five grandchildren. KNITTEL, Ada L., formerly of 380 E. Pole Road, Lynden, passed away at Shuksan Nursing Home in Bellingham on Sunday, Sept. 22, (1991) at the age of 91. Ada was born in Pomeroy to Charles D. and Nora B. (Fry) Alexander on May 8, 1900. She came to Whatcom County in 1908 and was a 1918 graduate of Meridian High School. She worked for many years as a teller at what is now Security Pacific Bank in Lynden. Ada was a member and past matron of the Lynden Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Christian Science Church. In Lynden on April 4, 1926 she was married to Ernest Knittel and he preceded his wife in death. Survivors include her sister Verna Price and husband Pete of Lynden; brother-in-law Alfred Knittel and wife Gertrude of Bellingham; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Ernest, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William L. Alexander and Frank Alexander, the former superintendent of Ferndale Schools. There will be no memorial services and the ashes will be inurned at Greenacres Memorial Park. Arrangements and cremation were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.

A Whatcom County resident for the past 70 years, Mrs. Knittel was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lynden and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 12. KNITTEL, Glen Herbert of Nooksack died Thursday, March 27, 1997, at Shuksan Convalescent Center. He was 81. No services will be held. His ashes will be placed in Nooksack Cemetery. Born March 31, 1915, to George and Ethel Davis Knittel in Ferry County, he was raised in Whatcom County and graduated from Lynden High School in 1933. He married Gladys Robinson on Nov. 19, 1938, in Bellingham. Mr. Knittel operated a dairy farm in Lynden and Nooksack and worked for Great Western Lumber. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by infant son Donald in 1940. Survivors include his wife of the family home, sons Glen Knittel Jr. of Bellingham and Ron Knittel of Everson, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Gillies Funeral Home.
KNITTEL, Lottie May, age 90 of Stanwood, died Wed. (Sep 29, 1982) in a local nursing home following an extended illness. She was born April 18, 1892 in Junction City, Wisc. Mrs. Knittel came to Wash. in 1899, living in the Lynden & Bellingham area until 1947 at which time she moved to Stanwood & resided there until her death. She was united in marriage to Otto Knittel on Sept. 27, 1911. Mr Knittel preceded her in death Aug. 1978. Mrs. Knittel had resided at the Josephine Sunset Home of Stanwood United Methodist Church & the Royal Neighbors of America. She is survived by 1 son, Clayton of Snohomish; 1 daughter Mrs. Adeline Westcott of Mt. Vernon; brothers, David Wines of Orting, Wa., Fred Wynes (sic) of Lynnwood; brother, William P. Wines preceded her in death in 1967; 4 grandchildren, Robert C. Knittel of Bellevue, William C. Knittel of Puyallup, Jerry C. Knittel of Snohomish & Kalyn Squires of Samish Island. KNITTEL, Otto, age 91, of Stanwood, passed away Aug. 12, (1978). He was born Jan. 4, 1887 in Nebraska. Came to Washington in 1908, settling in the Lynden area. He was united in marriage to Lottie Wines in 1911. They lived in the Lynden area, where he worked as a blacksmith until 1947. When the family moved to Stanwood, Mr. Knittel became custodian at the Lincoln School in Stanwood. In 1958 he became custodian at the Stanwood Post Office, until his retirement in 1967. In January of this year, Mr. & Mrs. Knittel became residents of the Josephine Sunset Home in Stanwood. He leaves his beloved wife, Lottie; one son, Clayton of Snohomish; one daughter, Mrs. Adeline Westcott of Stanwood; two brothers, Alfred of Lacey, Ernest of Quartzite, Ariz.; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Gahan, Mrs. Bertha Grenier, both of Bellingham, Mrs. Agnes Hudziak of Seattle, Mrs. Martha Bailey of Mesa, Ariz. Mr. Knittel was preceded in death by 5 brothers & sisters. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Tuesday at 2 p.m. with private cremation to follow under the direction of Gilbertson Funeral Home, Stanwood.
KNOCHE, Kathy Rustand, born August 29, 1958, passed away February 15 after a long battle with cancer. Kathy was born and raised in Ferndale to Gerald and Betty Rustand. Kathy was an avid horserider, She was a former member of the BCH and the Whatcom County Sheriff Posse. Kathy had also enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling and spending time with her family. Kathy is survived by her husband, Richard E. Knoche; her daughters, Jamie L. Murillo and Christina M. Wilder and their families; her son, Joseph N. Hicks and his family; her brother, Gregory Rustand; her grandmother Betty Dujmovich; three grandchildren; her best friend Kelly Cannard and other numerous friends and relatives. Kathy was preceded in death by her mother Betty J. Rustand, who passed away in November of 2000. Kathy will be loved and missed by all that knew her. There will be a remembrance gathering held for friends and family on Sun, Feb 22, 2004, 3 p.m. at Jim and Kelly Cannard's house, Ferndale. She was born in Coupeville and was employed as an elementary school teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry G. Knowles who also served as Island County Superintendent of Schools. She was a resident of Bellingham for 15 years and prior to moving to Bellingham served as a practical nurse at the Everett General Hospital, after which time she became active in arts & craft work, and caring for the elderly in their private homes. She is survived by 2 sons, Boyer E. Knowles of Seattle; Clifford R. Knowles, Long Island, New York; 2 daughters, Cecil F. Dunn & Sibyl S. Sporing, both of Bellingham; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. As a Registered Nurse, she recently returned from Guyana, South America, where she spent 8 months working for Health for Humanity. KNOX, Lloyd Elmer, age 26, of 2729 Patton Street, passed away at his home Thursday, August 10, (1950) following an extended illness. Mr. Knox had been a resident of Bellingham for the past nine years. He was a member of the Birch Bay United Missionary Church. KNUDSON, Kenneth W., age 77, passed away suddenly on July 13, 2005 in Leavenworth, WA. He was born February 11, 1928 in Bellingham to Carl and Winnifred Knudson. He was a retired railroad engineer from Burlington-Northern Railroad. Ken enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was in the U. S. Nay and was a member of American Legion Post #7. KNUDSON, Loel – A private family memorial service was held for Loel Knudson of Taneum Canyon in Ellensburg, formerly of Bellingham. A celebration of his life for family and friends will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday during an open house at the family home. Mr. Knudson died of complications following a stroke on Monday, Dec. 18, 2000. He was 75. Born May 15, 1925, to Emmanuel L. and Anna (Olsen) Knudson in Bellingham, he graduated from Mount Baker High School. Mr. Knudson helped in the operation of his family's dairy farm in Whatcom County during his early years. On Feb. 28, 1947, he married Necia McWilliams in Bellingham and they traveled for 18 months from Mexico to Canada searching for the perfect place to establish a ranch. In July of 1950, they settled in Taneum Canyon and owned and operated the Heart K Ranch. Mr. Knudson was a member of First Lutheran Church and the Field and Stream Club. His interests included horseback riding, fly-fishing and elk hunting. Two infant brothers died previously. Survivors include his wife, son Del Knudson, daughters Tana and Tery Knudson and Kay Shelton, and seven grandchildren. Arrangements are by Kittitas Valley Funeral Options.

KNUTSEN, Donald Elmer, 66, of Anacortes, died January 8, 1997 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bellingham, WA. He was born December 16, 1930 in Bellingham the son of Elmer & Blanche Knutsen. For a few years he lived with his family in Bremerton and then moved back to Bellingham where he graduated from High School in 1949. Donald attended Lanney Institute for Electronics then Berkeley University and graduated as an electronics engineer. He married Marian R. Chase in Bellingham on Sept. 20, 1952. In 1954 he moved to Anacortes. Donald and Jim Fritz built the KAGT radio station in Anacortes, now known as KLKI. Since 1955 he has owned & operated his own company, Micro-Electronics, Inc., and as an Electronic Design Engineer, he invented the invented the emergency locator transmitter for downed aircraft's and pilots. He also built the Recovery Strobe Beacons that flew on the space shuttles. Donald has many other inventions and patents to his credit. In 1994 he was honored by the Who's Who World Wide Registry for outstanding leadership and achievement in his profession. His hobbies included flying his planes, working & tinkering with electronics, and operating his HAM radio, W7ZEG. He is a member of the Anacortes Elks Club and the Fidalgo Masonic Lodge #77 F&AM, and the Anacortes Luthern (sic) Church. Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife, Marian Knutsen of Anacortes, 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Don G. & Laura Knutsen, Dave & Pam Knutsen, Jim & Shirley Knutsen all of Anacortes; grandchildren, Chad, Rob, Kevin, Eric, and Kristina; brother and sister-in-law, Loren & Norma Knutsen of Anacortes; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Don has left his family remembering his optimistic views, and positive outlook on life. KNUTSEN, Elmer of Anacortes, 83 years old passed away at a local hospital July 29th, (1980). He was born in South Dakota Feb. 9th, 1897. He lived in this area since 1954. He was married to Blanche Martin in Stanwood, Wash. Oct. 25, 1924. He was retired from the laundry business. He was a member of the Lutheran Church in B'ham. for 82 years. KNUTSEN, Eric Irving, of Bellingham, WA passed away Sunday, December 30, 2001 in Bellingham. He was 43, born May 24, 1958 in Bellingham to Irving and Hertha (Otterlei) Knutsen. A lifetime resident of Whatcom County, Eric graduated from Sehome High School and Western Washington University. He was a private pilot and an avid golfer. He attended Central Lutheran and Christ the King churches. He was preceded in death by his father Irving Knutsen and his sister Virgie Hartford. Mr. Knutson had been a lifetime resident of this community. He was a member of the Lawrence Emanuel Church and a veteran of World War I. He is survived by two brothers, Clem Knutson, of Rt, 3 City, Ingwald Knutson of Ellensburg; one sister, Mrs. E. R. Johnson of Bellingham, many other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Nov. 25, at 1 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Pastor Bremmer officiating. Interment Lawrence Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
KNUTSON, Casper, age 63 years, of Route 2, Ferndale, passed away Tuesday, March 24, (1953) at a Bellingham hospital. Mr. Knutson had been a resident of the Ferndale community for the past 34 years and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, of Custer, and the Alaska Fisherman's Union. He is survived by two sons Roy, of Bellingham, and Elmer, of Seattle; two brothers, Martin, of Bellingham, and Ingvold, in Norway; one sister, Mrs. Sofa Harestad, in Norway; two grandchildren, Larry and Ann Knutson, of Bellingham; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at the Monroe Funeral Chapel in Ferndale Saturday, March 28, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Theol Hoiland officiating. Interment Enterprise Cemetery.
KNUTSON, Clarence, age 80, of 990 E. Bakerview Rd. passed away Tues. Aug. 9, (1977). Mr. Knutson was a retired railroad engineer & worked with the Olympic Portland Cement Co. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Surviving his wife Margaret, 1 son Lowell of Acme, 8 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. KNUTSON, Clem, age 88, of 708 N. E. 94th Ave., Portland, Ore. passed away May 11, 1979. Born in Lawrence, WA, Feb. 18, 1891. He had been a resident of Portland, Ore. for 20 years. Had been a construction worker until retiring in 1956. Mr Knutson worked for the Whatcom County government for 35 years. His main areas of occupation were pile-driver foreman constructing small county bridges, building ferry slips and driving dolphins & working on river control. In his later years he worked on road maintenance. When he retired, he was the oldest county employee by 15 years. Private services were held.

KNUTSON, Howard Myron, 44, of 2930 Madrona, passed away at home Sunday, December 15, (1957). Mr. Knutson had been a resident of this community his entire life; had been a driver for Bellingham Builders Supply Co.; was a member of Teamsters' Local 231; and had attended the Broadway United Presbyterian Church. KNUTSON, John C., a Portland resident and former chairman of Portland Community Colleges Math and Science Dept, died June 22, 1988 in a Portland hospital. Born in Lawrence, WA, he was a graduate of Mt. Baker Union High School, Deming, in 1940; received his Bachelors Degree in Science from University of Washington; moved to Oregon where he started to teach in 1953. Mr. Knutson was one of the founders of Portland Community College and a highly respected math instructor. In addition to his work at PCC, Mr. Knutson, along with James Rogers, wrote a text book "Elementary Algebra for the College Students" Published in 1967. Survived by his wife Sandra and daughter, Kristi, both of Portland; numerous friends and relatives. No funeral is planned. Cremation.

Mr. Knutzen had resided in this community for the past 55 years; was owner of the Chris Knutzen Battery Shop, was was a member and had been chairman of the building committee of the Central Lutheran Church. Surviving relatives are his widow, Inga at home; two sons, A. Maurice of Bellingham and Marvin C. at home; one daughter, Mrs. Marjorie Holmes of Bellingham; eight grandchildren; one brother, Albert of Moses Lake, Wash.; one sister, Mrs. Karrie Jensen of Bellingham; one step-sister, Mrs. Annie Pedersen and step-mother, Mrs. Peter Knutzen, both in Denmark. KNUTZEN, Earl, age 80, 1448 Pole Rd., Everson, died Saturday night, Nov. 19, 1988, at St. Luke's Hospital in Bellingham. Survivors include his wife, Alice; two sons, Darrell of Everson and Fred of Big Lake; a daughter, Virginia, of Woodinville; a brother, Manley, of Everson; three sisters, Alice Ridley and Alma Ellingsen, both of Seattle and Anne McAllister of Shelton; and six grandchildren. There will be no services at the wishes of the family. He was a member of Lynden's Lutheran Church and the Lynden Camel's Club. He was a farmer for 20 years and worked in construction here and in Canada.

KNUTZEN, Evelyn, former Whatcom County resident, died Oct. 15, (1989) at Evergreen Terrace Nursing Home in Mount Vernon. She was 82. At her request there were no services. She was cremated and her ashes were interned in her mother's grave in the Sumas Cemetery. She lived most of her life in Whatcom County. She was an avid bowler and played on several Whatcom County bowling teams. She is survived by four children, Janis Lewis of Mount Vernon, Nola Palmer of Stanwood, Donald Knutzen of Sedro Woolley and John Knutzen of Seattle; two sisters, Lenora Phillips of Spokane and Alice Knutzen of Everson; one brother, Eugene Adams of Nanaimo, B. C.; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Gerry was a member of the Ten Mile Sunday School and was in the second grade at Lynden grade school. KNUTZEN, Jess Harold, age 88, of 1942 Trigg Road, Ferndale, passed away Monday, December 27, 1982. Mr. Knutzen had been a resident of Whatcom County for over 70 years and is survived by 2 sons, John of Seattle; Don of Sedro Woolley; 2 daughters, Janis Lewis of Mt. Vernon; Nola Palmer of Stanwood; 3 brothers, Earl and Manley, both of Everson; Warren of Shelton; 3 sisters, Alice Riddley & Alma Ellingsen, both of Seattle; Ann McAllister of Shelton; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Robert E. Johnson on Thursday, December 30 at 1:30 p.m. in Moles Funeral Home. Burial followed in Greenacres Memorial Park.
KNUTZEN, Louise M. - Funeral services for Louise M. Knutzen, 62, 1942 Trigg Rd., Ferndale, were held Tuesday in Moles Funeral Home. She died Thursday (March 8, 1973). Mrs. Knutson (sic) had lived in the county 16 years. She is survived by the husband, Harold and two daughters. Rev. Ronald Moen officiated at the 1:30 p.m. service. Burial followed in Greenacres Memorial Park.
KNUTZEN, Maurice - A memorial service for A. Maurice "Morrie" Knutzen of Oregon City, Ore., will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 2 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellingham. Mr. Knutzen died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, in Oregon City. He was 75. Born Aug. 9, 1924, to Chris and Inga Knutzen in Bellingham, he earned a master's degree in elementary education from Western Washington University. Mr. Knutzen served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. In 1947, he married Isabelle Griswold of Bellingham. Mr. Knutzen was a teacher in the Bellingham area for 12 years before moving Oregon City. Survivors include his wife, of the family home sons Nicholas of Oregon, Peter Knutzen of Oregon City and Andrew and Anthony Knutzen, both of Oregon daughters Maryanne Perdue of Clackamas, Ore., Connie Knutzen of Oregon and Martha Knutzen of San Francisco sister Marjorie Holmes and brother Marvin Knutzen, both of Bellingham and three grandchildren.
KNUTZEN, Oscar P., age 67 years, of 1418 Rural Avenue, passed away suddenly Monday, April 7th, (1952). Mr. Knutzen was a former resident of Lynden and had resided at his present home for the past 2 1/2 years. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Lynden and a member of the Lutheran Church. Mr. Knutzen is survived by his wife, Violet; one daughter, Mrs. Lovell Dixon, of Temple City, Calif.; two grandchildren, Linda and Duane Dixson, of Temple City, Calif.; one brother Chris H. Knutzen, and one sister, Mrs. Carrie Jensen, both of Bellingham, and many other relatives. Private funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 11, at 2 p.m., within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home, with the Rev. Oscar A. Jacobson, pastor of the Central Lutheran Church officiating. Interment Greenacres Memorial Park.
KNUTZEN, Violet M., age 64, of 1398 Rural Avenue, passed away in a local hospital, Wednesday, October 26, (1955). Mrs. Knutzen had resided in this community for the past 50 years, and leaves to survive one daughter, Mrs. Lovell Dickson of Temple City, Calif.; two grandchildren, Duane Dickson of Atlanta, Ga., and Miss Linda Dickson of Temple City, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Helferich, of Rt. 2, Ferndale, and Miss Ina Colyer of Lynden; three brothers, Francis Taylor and George Colyer, both of Wenatchee, and Floyd Taylor of Everson, also numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by Pastor O. A. Jacobson, Friday, October 28, at 9 a.m. Final resting place, Greenacres Memorial Park.
