KIVLEY, Ethel Marie, age 90, of Lumby, B.C., died Fri. Feb. 29, 1980. A Bellingham resident from 1920 to 1977, she resided with her daughter in Lumby, B.C. for the last 3 1/4 years and was a member of Bethel Lutheran Bretheren Church of Bellingham. Survivors include 4 daughters, Mrs. Mabel and husband Joe Werdal of Lumby, B.C., Mrs. Marion and husband Morris Werdal of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Matilda and husband Tom Nordtvedt of Everett; Myrtle and husband Morris Larsen of Alexandria, Minn.; 1 son Selmer and wife Natalie Kivley of Plaistow, New Hampshire; 1 step-son, Joseph & wife Helen Kivley of City; 1 sister, Hedvig and husband Gilbert Odden of Fergus Falls, Minn.; 31 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren; cousin Mrs. Tillie Sandberg of Bellingham. She was married to Sven Kively in 1920 and he preceded her in death in 1961. Services Tues. March 4, 1980, 10:30 a.m. in Jones Funeral Home with two sons-in-law officiating, Rev. Kivley, of 4214 Van Horn Lane died Thursday (Aug. 29, 1991) at Alderwood Park Convalescent Center. He was 82. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Marietta Community Church, with the Rev. Fred Bengen officiating. Cremation and inurnment of ashes will be at Greenacres Memorial Park. Born in Stanwood on July 24, 1909, Mr. Kivley was a resident of Whatcom County for 75 years. He was a member of North Bellingham Grange and Marietta Community Church. He retired from Smith Gardens after working there for 51 years. He raised pansies, fuscias (sic), geraniums and vegetables and sold them locally. Mr. Kivley married Helen M. Rutherford in Bellingham at First Presbyterian Church on Sept. 26, 1942. He is survived by his wife, of the family home; a daughter, Janet Meyer of Woodland Park, Colo., two grandchildren; a brother, Harold Grindal of Minneapolis; four step-sisters; and numerous other relatives. KIVLEY, Sven T., age 82, Ferndale, passed away Sunday, July 16th, (1964) in a local hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Kivley had been a resident of Whatcom County the past 49 years, and was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Brethren Church. Survivors include: Wife, Ethel; 4 daughters, Mrs. Mabel Werdal, Lumby, B. C.; Mrs. Marian Werdal of Fergus Falls, Minn.; Mrs. Matilda Nordtvedt of Lake Mills, Iowa, and Mrs. Myrtle Laren of Sakata City, Japan; 3 sons, Sam of Melrose, Mass.; Joseph of Bellingham, and Harold of Salem, Ore.; 31 grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 21st at 1 p.m. in Moles' Monroe Chapel, Rev. Arthur Berge officiating. Final resting place, Greenacres.
KJELLAND, Clarice Eileen - A memorial service for C. Eileen Kjelland of 3641 Waldron Drive, Ferndale, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Central Lutheran Church in Everett with the Rev. Jeffery R. Russell officiating. Her ashes will be placed in Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Kjelland died Thursday, March 27, 1997, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was 80. Born June 4, 1916, to Ernest and Rose Vine Schroeder in Brogan, Ore., she lived in Whatcom County for 24 years. She married Milton Kjelland on Sept. 4, 1936, in Marysville. Mrs. Kjelland worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for the Everett School District for 13 years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and Central Lutheran Church in Everett. She enjoyed travels in the United States. Survivors include her husband of the family home, son Kenneth Kjelland of Everett, daughter Marilyn Kjelland of Santa Rosa, Calif., four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
KJERSGAARD, Edith M., Coulee City, died today (1 Nov 1973) while visiting in Bellingham. Services will be arranged by Nicols Funeral Home in Ephrata. Survivors include the husband, Arnold; three daughters, a son, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Adrian Grange and Order of Eastern Star.
KJORVESTAD, Tilda, age 61, of 430 Sixteenth Street, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, Nov. 7, (1951). Mrs. Kjorvestad had resided in this community for the past seven years and had been a practical nurse and a member of the Lutheran Church. Surviving relatives are one daughter, Mrs. Ardath Sampson, of Seattle; four sons, Kenny, of Colton, Calif., Bennie, of Seattle, Pvt. Halvor, of Fort Hood, Texas, and Franklin Delano, of Seattle; five grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Gertie Peterson, of Beach; four brothers, Osmond Nomeland, of Venice, Calif.; Oscar Nomeland, of Compton, Calif., Tom Nomeland, of Plaza, N.D. and Halvor Nomeland, of Des Moines, Iowa. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth, where services will be conducted by the Rev. KLANDER, Barney C., age 72, of 802 1/2 North Street, passed away Friday, July 2, (1965). A 63 year resident of Whatcom County, Mr. Klander was manager of the Sterling Apartments and had been a 25-year member of the Ten Mile Grange. Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Minnie Klander, Bellingham; three daughters, Miss Judyann Klander, City, Mrs. Kathleen Burgraff, Lynden, Mrs. Betty Tatsch, in Texas; two sons, Barney Klander Jr., Issaquah, and Richard J. Klander, Sumas; sister, Mrs. Freda Wolfe, Bellingham; brother, Harry Klander, Seattle; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted Wednesday, July 7, at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Mr. C. Theodore Hegg officiating. Interment will be in Ten Mile Cemetery.
KLANDER, Catherine, aged 86 years and a resident of the Ten Mile district the past thirty-six years, died at the home of her son, Ernest, Tuesday (Dec. 31, 1940) following a brief illness. Mrs. Klander was born in Matven, Germany, March 31, 1854, and came to the United States in 1885 living for a time in Wisconsin and for a number of years in North Dakota before moving to the Lynden district. Immediate survivors include two sons, Ernest and Barney of Ten Mile; a daughter, Mrs. Fred Wolfe, of Bellingham, and two step-sons, Herman of Bellingham, and William of California. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran church, of Bellingham. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Knapp & Knapp chapel with Rev. Carl Zimmerman, officiating.
KLANDER, Clara H., aged
4744 years, of 2718 Kulshan Street, passed away at a local hospital Sunday, September 28, (1941) after a long illness. Mrs. Klander had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past thirty-five years. She leaves to survive besides her husband, Barney, one son, Bud, at home; two daughters, Betty, at home, and Mrs. Catherine Bergraff, of Lynden, Wash. Mrs. Klander rests at the Homer Mark Mortuary and funeral services will be held in the Cathedral Chapel Wednesday afternoon, October 1, at 2 o'clock. Interment, Ten Mile Cemetery.KLANDER, Ernest C., age 75 of Route 1, Everson passed away in a local hospital Saturday, October 20, (1962) following a sudden illness. He had been a resident of the Ten Mile area since 1902 and lived on the present farm since that time. For the past several years Mr. Klander had served as supervisor of the Ten Mile Township and was a member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church of Bellingham, Whatcom County Dairyman's Association, and the Washington Co-Op. Surviving are his wife Anna at home, one son, Alfred, Route 1, Everson, one daughter, Mrs. Anna Lasher, Route 3, Ferndale, one brother, Barney and one sister, Mrs. Freda Wolfe both of Bellingham. Also six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the Ten Mile Chapel Tuesday, October 23 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Kenneth Daugs officiating. Burial will follow in the Ten Mile Cemetery under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home.
KLANDER, John, age 63, of 1614 Mt. Baker Hiway, passed away Tuesday, May 7, (1974). A lifetime resident, he was a retired Darigold employe and a member of the Teamsters Union Local No. 231. Survived by his wife, Elizabeth; 3 sons, John Robert, James A. and Richard all of Bellingham; 3 daughters, Miss Nona Klander, Seattle; Mrs. Nadine Tigner, Snohomish; and Mrs. Mary Postlewait, City; 11 grandchildren; 1 sister, Mrs. Agnes Hobson, Mesa, Arizona. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 10 at 10:30 a.m. in Greenacres Memorial Park. Friends may meet at the Westford Funeral Home at 10 a.m.
KLANDER, Martha Elizabeth - Visitation for Martha Elizabeth Klander of Everson will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Gillies Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Ten Mile Cemetery with members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9301 participating. Mrs. Klander died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 1997, at Christian Health Care Center. She was 71. Born March 15, 1926, to Richard and Tillie DeBondt VanHeuvelen in Iowa, she lived in California before moving to Whatcom County in the 1930s. She married Alfred Klander Oct. 2, 1946, in Whatcom County. Mrs. Klander graduated from Lynden High School and from beauty school and worked at Bert's Beauty Shop in Lynden for many years. She retired as a cook for Meridian High School after 32 years. A member of VFW Post No. 9301, Mrs. Klander enjoyed traveling and preserving fruits and vegetables. Survivors include her husband of the family home, son Alfred "Jon" Klander of Everson, daughters JoAnne Enertson of Bellingham and Kathy Klander of Everson, brother Richard VanHeuvelen of Bellingham, sister Evelyn VanHeuvelen of Everson, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
KLANDER, Richard "Dick" age 57, of Everson, WA, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 1997 at his home following a lingering illness. Dick was born February 19, 1939 in Bellingham, WA. Since 1960 he lived in Sumas, WA; was a U.S. Navy veteran; with his wife Carol, owners and operators of Pinocchio's Pizza in Sumas, WA. Dick was an avid golfer. Survived by his wife, Carol; his sons, Terry Klander of Sumas, Aaron Klander of Goodyear, Arizona; daughters, Denae and her husband, Matt Johnson, Melissa Klander, all of Sumas; sister, Judy and husband, Chuck Washburn of Mt. KLANDER, William J., age 61, of 1413 W. Illinois Street, passed away in a Seattle hospital Thursday, Dec. 28, (1961) following an extended illness. Mr. Klander was a life resident of Bellingham and was a retired painter. He leaves to survive, one son, Raymond, one daughter, Mrs. Joy DenHartog, both of this city; five grandchildren; his father, William C. Klander of Eureka, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Thorlakson, Mrs. Irene Martin and Mrs. Elsie Allison, all in California. KLANG, Ida M., age 80 years, passed away at her home in Tacoma, Friday evening, March 2, (1945). Mrs. Klang had lived in Tacoma four years and prior to that had been a resident of Ferndale, going there in 1903 from Heron, Minn. She was a member of the Swedish Baptist Church in Ferndale, and surviving relatives are two sons, Oscar Klang, of Seattle, and Lawrence Klang, of Silverton, Oregon; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Johnson, of Tacoma, and Mrs. Richard Olson, of Everett; fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 5, at 1:00 p.m. from the Swedish Baptist Church in Ferndale with Rev. Johnson, pastor of that church, officiating. Interment will be at Ferndale under the direction of C. O. Lynn Mortuary, of Tacoma.
KLAUS, Joseph Francis, age 58 years, passed away at the family residence, 1130 Twenty-first Street, Friday evening, April 19, (1946). Mr. Klaus had been a resident of this community for the past 15 years, and was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart. He was also affiliated with the V. F. W., Wm. Mathews Post, and the I. L. W. U. local No. 15. Immediate surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Valla Klaus, of the home, and one sister, Mrs. Anne Calkins, of Granite Falls, Wash.; several nieces and nephews. The remains will lie in state at the family home, Wednesday evening. Rosary was said within the Church of the Sacred Heart Wednesday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m. Requiem high mass was sung within the Church of the Sacred Heart, Thursday, April 25, at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Father Peter Smythe, celebrant. Interment, Bay View Cemetery, under the direction of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home.
KLAUS, Valla, age 56 years, of 1130 21st Street, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, April 20, (1957) following a short illness. Mrs. Klaus had been a lifetime resident of this community and was a clerk at Sears Roebuck for the past nine years. She was a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart. She is survived by one daughter, Beverly, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Johnson and Mrs. Molla Bevington, both of Vancouver, Wash., Miss Dina Moldrem of this city; two brothers, Joseph Moldrem of this city, Carl Moldrem of Palm Springs, Calif. KLEER, Mamie M., 68, of Lynden, died April 14, (1973). She was a 48-year resident of Whatcom County. Services were held Monday afternoon at Veroske's McKinney Funeral Home with the Rev. Julius Brandt officiating. Interment followed in Blaine Cemetery. She is survived by four daughters, Georgia Roe and Mary Hyatt, both of Lynden, Lucille Sternberg of Grandview, Donna Kirner of Everson; two sons, George of Seattle and Russell in Jacksonville, Florida; five sisters, Myrtle Bray and Maxine Wick both of Ketchikan, Alaska, Hollis Heathers of Bellingham, Tollie Horton of Forks, Wa., Eleanor Kletch of Corpus Christi, Texas; two brothers, Lloyd Darnell of Burlington and Ell Darnell of Bellingham. KLEER, Raymond M., of the U.S. army, was killed in training at Camp Roberts, California, Wednesday, August 29, (1945). Surviving relatives are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. George C. Kleer, of Blaine; six brothers and sisters, Georgia, Lucille, Mary, Donna, George Jr., and Russell, all at home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Darnell, of Alger, and a number of aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be conducted from the McKinney Funeral Home in Blaine, Tuesday, September 4, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Eric Sjolund, of Ferndale, officiating. Interment in Blaine Cemetery. The American Legion will have charge of the services at the Cemetery.
KLEER, Tim L., age 41, of Everson, passed away Sun., Jan. 25, 1998, at his home. He was born Jan. 1, 1957, in Everett to Truman and Wilma (Barlean) Williams and had been a Whatcom County resident for 41 years. Tim was a commercial fisherman who fished in Whatcom County and Cordova, AK. He was preceded in death by his mother. Survived by his 2 sisters, Shirley & Keith Kastler of Bothell and Cyndi & Jim Franklin of Bellingham; brother, Tracy & LeAnn Miller of Bellingham; step-parents, George & Gail Kleer of Bellingham; father, Truman Williams of Arizona; grandparents, Bernard & Pat Barlean of Everson and Dora Williams of Blaine; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. KLEID, Robert Wallace, age 46, of 1534 Hannegan Road, passed away at the family home Tuesday, March 27, (1956). Mr. Kleid had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 16 years and was a member of the Carpenters and Joiners Local No. 756. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle F.; one son, Peter; four daughters, Carolyn, Letha, and Kristen, all of the home, Mrs. Kathleen Strickland of Ferndale; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hal Kleid of Renton. KLEIN, Albert J., age 72, 908 Liberty St., Apt. B., Lynden, passed away on Tues. Jan. 8, 1980. Mr. Klein was born in the Netherlands and moved to New Holland, South Dakota where he farmed for a number of years before moving to this area in 1943. He also farmed in this area for a number of years and then became one of the original stock holders in the Mt. Baker Plywood Co. in 1952, where he was employed until he retired in 1965. A member of the Third Christian Reformed Church in Lynden, he was married to Henrietta Muilenburg in So. Dakota on Nov. 7, 1933. He is survived by his wife, Henrietta; 3 daughters, Mrs. Josephine (Pete) VanderMolen of Everson, Mrs. Hermina (Rev. Gus) Buma, Sedro Woolley and Mrs. Dorothy (Robert) Kortlever of Marysville; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Buelkelman of Corsica, So. Dakota; numerous nieces & nephews. He was also preceded by a daughter, Josephine in 1939. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday Jan. 11 at 1 p.m. in the Third Christian Reformed Church, Rev. KLEIN, Bernhardt August "Barney" age 69 years, of 1719 State Street, passed away suddenly at the home of his daughter in Olympia, Monday morning, September 2, (1946). Mr. Klein had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 46 years. The past 28 years he had been employed by Trunkey & Sons Oil Co. as plant manager. He was a member of the First Christian Church, president of "99 Men's Class," was an elder in the church, and was chairman of Boy Scout Troop No. 6. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice A. Klein; three sons, Cecil, James and Loren, all of the city; five daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Ames, of Olympia, Mrs. Bernice Wotton, of Friday Harbor, Mrs. Nettie Metzger, of Ferndale, Mrs. Gertrude Olson, city, Mrs. Valeria Mills, of Sedro-Wolley, and twelve grandchildren. KLEIN, Bertha, aged 71, of 2317 Iron street passed away at a Seattle hospital Friday, July 15, (1949). Mrs. Klein had resided in this community for the past 34 years and was the widow of the late Herman Klein. Deceased was a member of the German Lutheran church and leaves to survive two sons, Harry of Seattle and Werner of Sedro-Woolley; three grandchildren; one sister and many nieces and nephews in Germany. KLEIN, Meindert "Mike," age 64 of Route 2, Everson, passed away suddenly at home, Sunday, April 8, (1968). A retired farmer he had made his home in the Everson area for the past 18 years. He was a member of the Everson Christian Reformed Church. Mr. Klein had resided in Bellingham for the past 30 years, was a member of the Church of the Assumption, employed by the Dahl Fish Co., a veteran of WWII and a member of the Meatcutters Union Local No. 247. KLEINDEL, Kenneth D., age 47 of 2354 Stickney Island Rd., Everson, passed away suddenly Sat. Jan. 7, (1978). Born in Minnesota, Mr. Kleindel was a Korean veteran and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1962 when he moved to Lynden and served as the Chief of Police in Lynden for 3 years. After retiring as chief, Mr. Kleindel worked for Mac Truck at Lynden Transport, San Juan Packers and most recently Seabrook Foods. He was a member of the Lynden VFW Post No. 9301, Lynden Eagles Aerie No. 3053 and Teamsters Local No. 231. On Sept. 6, 1967 he was married to Doris Zweegman in Lynden. Besides his wife Doris, he is survived by 5 sons, Pvt. 1st Class David Kleindel, Camp Lejenne, North Carolina, Don, Ken & Mark Kleindel and Kenny Zweegman all of Lynden, 4 daughters, Mrs. Vicki Goodwin of Kennewick, Mrs. Valerie Schuyleman, Mrs. Vivian DeJong and Marlae Kleindel, all of Lynden, 3 brothers, Leonard, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Bernard in Minnesota and Mike in Bellingham; 5 sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Fuchs, Miss Phyllis Kleindel, Mrs. Beverly Curran, Mrs. Edna Howe and Mrs. Eleanor Gritillet, all in Minnesota and 7 grandchildren. KLEVER, Alvin C., formerly of Bellingham, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 1997, in Seaside, Ore. He was 72. No service will be held. Born Dec. 3, 1924, to Alvin and Alice Quick Klever in Deerbrook, Wis., he married Nellie Kunce on March 22, 1947, in Vancouver, Wash. Mr. Klever lived in Portland and Cannon Beach, Ore., before moving to Bellingham in 1965. After retiring in 1990, he moved to Warrenton, Ore. He worked at several jobs, including shake mill mechanic foreman and at Intalco Aluminum Corp. for 15 years. A lifetime member of the American Legion in Cannon Beach, Mr. Klever also was a member of the American Legion in Seaside and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Bellingham. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1996; a daughter, Mary Sierra, in 1995; and a brother, Charles Klever. Survivors include daughters Susan O'Neill of Bellingham, Terry Guss of Hammond, Ore., Paulette Aeschliman of Anaheim, Calif., and Penny Klever of Everett; son Paul Klever of Bellingham; sister Irene Goodyard of Forest Grove, Ore.; brothers Robert Klever of Eugene, Ore., and Vern Klever of Newberg, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
KLEY, Elizabeth (Betty) went home to be with the Lord on January 11, 2008 in Blaine, WA. She was born to Claude and Josephine Montgomery on September 15, 1915 in Chicago, IL. On September 1, 1948 in Bellingham, WA she married Karl Kley. They made their home on a farm in Birch Bay, where they raised their family. Upon Karl's retirement, they moved to Sequim, WA. Upon Karl's death, Betty returned to Lynden, WA, where she lived until moving to Stafholt Good Samaritan Center in 2006. Betty attended Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing and Hygiene where she received her nursing degree and served tea to Henry Ford. She worked for over 50 years in the nursing profession in hospitals, supervising student nurses, as a private duty nurse, as a school nurse, in public health nursing, as a visiting nurse, and in nursing homes. Betty's hobbies included reading, stamp collecting, choral singing, photography, puzzles, cats, cross stitch, crocheting, sewing, garage sales, and bird watching. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Dan) DeMent; son, Robert (Gina) Kley; grandchildren, Gail DeMent, Cory (Regan) DeMent, Nathaniel Miller, Jeremiah Miller and Dino Macioci, and Erin (Drew) McFerren; great grandchildren, Brendan Ortman and Bailey McFerren. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Karl Kley and son William Kley. A graveside service will be held on January 19, 2008 at Enterprise Cemetery in Ferndale at 1:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm at Faith Reformed Church in Lynden. KLEY, Louis, age 90, pioneer of the Blaine area for approximately 65 years, passed away Wednesday, March 8, (1950) at his home, following a lingering illness. KLINE, Clarence A., Dr., age 86, of 1406 Ellis St., passed away in a local rest home Wednesday, April 9, (1958). Dr. Kline was a retired optician and had served in the Spanish-American War. KLINEMAN, Orville C., lifelong resident of Bellingham, died July 26, 1997, at Mt. Baker Care Center in Bellingham, WA, after a long illness. He was 69 years old. Mr. Klineman was born December 7, 1927, to John and Hattie Klineman. He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1946. On January 17, 1948, he married Genevieve Umphenour. He retired from Merchants Supply, Inc., after 25 years of service. Orville was a lifetime member of Whatcom Lodge #151, F&AM, where he held many positions, including Worshipful Master in 1981. Orville was a member of Calvary Temple, Gideon International, and a charter member of the St. Luke's Foundation. Survivors include daughter Ruth and husband Michael Moises of Vancouver, WA; two sons, Paul and wife Shirley Klineman of Ferndale, WA, Jerry and wife Barbara Klineman of Seattle, WA; eight grandchildren, Jason and Michael Moises, Ryan, Jeffery, Kyle, Allyson, Rachel and Madeline Klineman; and brother David Klineman of Bellingham. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, July 30, 1997, 12:30 p.m. at Lynden Cemetery, with a Memorial Service following at 2:00 p.m. at Northwest Baptist Church, Bellingham, with Chaplain Michael Kirkelie officiating. KLINEMAN, William Isaac "Ike," age 69, of 1734 Bakerview Rd., passed away at a local hospital Sunday, May 8, (1955) following a brief illness. Mr. Klineman had been a resident of this vicinity for the past 46 years. He leaves to survive three sisters, Mrs. Fred Millay, Everson, Mrs. Nellie Whitehead, Calif., Mrs. Walter Orr of Beaver, Wash.; one brother, John Klineman of Bellingham; also numerous nieces and nephews. The Rev. Dr. Carl Calhoun will officiate at services on Thursday, May 12, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home. Final resting place Hopewell Cemetery.
KLINEMAN, Velaura Jean (Bliven) of Bellingham will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Greenacres Memorial park in Ferndale, with the Rev. Al Currier officiating. Mrs. Klineman died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2000 at St. Joseph Hospital. She was 66. Born April 14, 1933, to Wesley and Laura (Brewster) Bliven in Seattle, she was a lifetime Whatcom County resident. Mrs. Klineman graduated from Bellingham High School in 1952. On March 28, 1952, she married David Klineman in Bellingham. Mrs. Klineman was a member of the Fraternal Order of Elks No. 31 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed collecting dolls, sewing and camping. Her sisters Violet Walker and Virginia Thistle died previously. Survivors include her husband of the family home; son Darrell Klineman of Bellingham; daughters Dawn Holcomb, Cindy Carmichael and Vera Thistle, all of Bellingham; brothers Virgil Bliven of Ferndale and Victor Bliven of Sumas; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Greenacres Funeral Home of Ferndale.

KLINGBACK, Fred, age 46 of 1318 Sudden Valley, passed away Thurs., Nov. 10, (1977). Mr. Klingback had resided in Whatcom County for the past 5 years and was owner of Leisure Management Co. He was a member of the Geneva Community Church, the Community Association Institute, Phi Delta Kappa, The National Education Association and was a graduate of Seattle Pacific University. He leaves to survive his wife, Dyllys B. KLINGENSMITH, Frank, age 76 of 2712 Kulshan, passed away Sunday Oct. 16, (1977). Mr. Klingensmith had resided in Bellingham for many years and was a retired truck driver and a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He leaves to survive his wife, Bessie of the family home, 1 son, David of this city, 1 daughter, Mrs. Patricia Thon of Bremerton, 6 grandchildren, 1 brother, Clement Klingensmith of Colorado. KLINKHAMMER, Walter C., age 74, 525 North 14th St., Lynden, died suddenly in Tagish, Yukon Territory, on Friday July 23, (1982). Born in Stewart, Minn., Mr. Klinkhammer had been the International Harvester Dealer in Juneau, Alaska for 22 years, retiring in 1969. In 1969 he moved with his wife Winifred to Vancouver Island, where they resided until 1972 when they moved to Lynden. They were married in Hopkins, Minn. on Sept. 11, 1928. He was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 700 of Juneau; The American Association of Retired Persons and had been active in the Lynden Senior Activity Center. He is survived by his wife Winifred; a son, Virgil and wife Barbara of Ferndale; 3 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 6 brothers, Oscar of Davenport, Iowa, Raymond of Comstock, Wisc., Leo of Enumclaw, George, Gerald and Joseph, all of Turtle Lake, Wisc.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Margaret Wick of Turtle Lake, Wisc., Mrs. Dorothy Cory of Hopkins, Minn.; numerous nieces & nephews. Memorial services will be conducted on Sat. July 31 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Gillies Funeral Home. Cremation was in Prince George, British Columbia. KLIPPERT, Fred, age 48, of 2509 Huron Street, passed away at a local hospital, Thursday, June 9, (1955) following a short illness. Mr. Klippert had been a lifetime resident of this community and was employed by the Georgia Pacific Plywood Co., and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and Woodworkers of America Local 9-330. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rose M. Clippert (sic); one daughter, Vickie Lee at home; two sisters, Mrs. Bob Lietch and Mrs. John B. Peterson, both of this city, many other relatives. She is survived by her husband, Michael F., 2 daughters, Mrs. Patricia Ann Moreau and Mrs. Mary Jane Kamps, both city, 2 sons, Robert Stanley Kloc of Everson and Michael Anthony Kloc, at home, 2 grandchildren, Tina Marie Moreau and Robert Lee Kamps, 1 sister & 1 brother in the East. Rosary will be offered Tuesday Dec. 28 at 7 p.m. within the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home. The remains will be forwarded to Olean, New York, for services & interment.
KLOC, Jacqueline A. - Visitation for Jacqueline A. "Woods" (Forness) Kloc of Ferndale will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Moles Funeral Home in Ferndale. A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ferndale. Mrs. Kloc died Friday, May 4, 2001, at her home. She was 73. Mrs. Kloc was born Jan. 4, 1928, to Robert F. and Alice (Marron) Forness in Olean, N.Y. On Dec. 2, 1950, she married Mickey Woods and they moved to Whatcom County in 1954. He died in 1974. On March 15, 1978, she married Mike Kloc. He died in 1989. Mrs. Kloc was a member of the Ferndale Catholic Church and served on many committees during her 46 years of membership. Her sister Mary Panus died in 2000. Survivors include daughters Colleen Smith, Karen Herman, Michele Matheson and Mary Unick, all of Ferndale special friend Wynn Smith nine grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Jack Buckalew officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Mr. Kloc, 70, of 5843 Seamount Drive, Ferndale, died Thursday (March 9, 1989) at home after a long illness. He was born Nov. 15, 1918 in Olean, NY. A World War II Army veteran, he moved to Whatcom County in 1954. He worked for the Mobil refinery from then until retirement in 1980. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 212 in Sumas, and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ferndale. Survivors include his wife Jackie Kloc of the family home; two sons, Bob Kloc of Deming and Michael Kloc of Ferndale; two daughters, Mary Jane Kemp of Bellingham and Pat Moreau of Sumas; four step daughters, Colleen Smith of Deming and Karen Herman, Michele Matheson, and Mary Mallahan, all of Ferndale; and eleven grandchildren.

Mr. Klocke was born and reared in Lynden, and about 18 years ago moved to Tumwater. Surviving relatives are a brother, Henry Shagren, of Lynden; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Richbaw, of Lynden, and Mrs. R. Schline, of Seattle, and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted from the Mills & Mills Funeral Home of Olympia, Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 10 a.m. Graveside rites will be held at Lynden, Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 4 p.m. at the Lynden cemetery under the direction of Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.
KLOCKE, August, age 83 years and 9 months, passed away at a Bellingham hospital following a short illness Thursday afternoon, April 15, (1943). Funeral services will be held Monday, April 19, at 2 o'clock in the Knapp & Knapp Chapel in Lynden, with Rev. Paul R. Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the Lynden Cemetery. Mr. Klocke is survived by his widow, Julia; one daughter, Mrs. Sylvina Holloman, of Snohomish; three brothers, George, of Indiana, Adolph, Olympia, and Henry Shagren, of Lynden; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Richbaw, of Lynden, and Mrs. Reka Sheline of Seattle. Two grandchildren also survive.
KLOP, George, a 15-year Bellingham [Bayview?] resident, died Friday (Jan. 4, 1980) in a Mount Vernon nursing home at the age of 77. Klop resided in the Bayview community, where he moved 15 years ago from Seattle. He was born in San Francisco, and married his wife Lucille there in 1945. He was active in the Elks Club and a member of the Skagit Gem and Rock Club. Surviving are his wife, two daughters, a son, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a sister. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Charles Catholic Church in Burlington. Burial will follow in the Bayview Cemetery. Burlington's Hulbush Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
KLOP, Lucille "Dolly" of Bayview Wash., died Tuesday June 1st, 1982, at United General Hospital. She was born January 24, 1904, in Vancouver, Wash. She was employed for many years as a telephone operator in Bremerton. Her marriage to George Klop took place June 17, 1945 in San Francisco. Mr. Klop preceded her in death in 1980. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, and the Bayview Civic Club. Surviving are 2 step-daughters; Bonnie Klop, of Seattle, Marjorie Joyner, of Bellingham, 1 step-son; William Klop, of Bayview, 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 brothers; Joseph Craig, of Seattle & Sidney Craig, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, 1 sister-in-law; Marie McElroy, of Bayview. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 4, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Burlington. Father David Linehan officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Cemetery, Skagit County, under the direction of Hulbush Funeral Home, Burlington.
KLUGE, Virginia R., 93, of 2726 Alderwood Ave., died Sunday (July 19, 1987). Mrs. Kluge was born Dec. 27, 1893, in West Plains, Mo., and was a Whatcom County resident for the past 80 years. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Survivors include three sons, Harrison Kluge of Mukilteo, Ernest Kluge of Bellingham and Gordon Kluge of Astoria, Ore.; a daughter, Roberta Pohl of Astoria; two sisters, Eunice Wessel of Everson and Irene Dixon of Bremerton; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and other relatives. Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Kingdom Hall, with Rod Benson officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements by Jones Funeral Home.
KLUKEN, Constance - Funeral services for Constance Kluken, aged 55, of 1301 W. Holly, Bellingham, were conducted Saturday afternoon in Moles Funeral Chapel by Rev. Richard Walvatine. She passed away Aug. 5, (1971) in a Bellingham rest home. Miss Kluken had lived in the county her entire lifetime. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, WCTU and had served as a Red Cross Grey Lady. She is survived by a sister, Miss Inga Kluken of Bellingham; two brothers, John of Ferndale and Ned of Bellingham. Interment was in Enterprise Cemetery.
KLUKEN, J. Ivan, age 82 years, of Rt. 2, Ferndale, passed away in Everett Sunday, March 22, (1953). Mr. Kluken had been a resident of the Grandview community for the past 42 years and was a long-time member of the Darigold Association. He is survived by two daughter, Inga Kluken and Constance Kluken both of Bellingham; two sons, John of Ferndale, and Ned of Bellingham; one grandson, Kenneth, of Ferndale; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 28, at 2 p.m. from the Monroe Funeral Chapel in Ferndale, with the Rev. Sylvester Rue officiating. Rev. O. Aadland and Rev. Hulverson will assist. KLUKEN, Kenneth Lynn, age 33, of Oregon City, Oregon passed away Sun. Feb. 4, 1979. Mr. Kluken lived in Ferndale until the age of 17 when he joined the Army where he was a cook. In 1975 he moved to Oregon City with his family & managed several restaurants before entering business for himself. He is survived by his wife, Diane, 3 sons; John, Jim & Jeff all at home. His parents; Mr. & Mrs. John Kluken of Ferndale. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Verle Dean Weds. Feb. 7th at 3 p.m. in Triumph Lutheran Church, Ferndale. KLUKEN, Ned, of Bellingham, WA, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2002 in Bellingham. He was 94, born Nov. 2, 1907 in Todd County, MN to Ivar and Jette Kluken. A resident of Whatcom County since 1911, Ned married Olga Erlandson on Nov. 2, 1933 in Everett, WA. He enjoyed salmon fishing in Bellingham Bay, Mariner's Baseball, vegetable gardening and helping neighbors. During WWII, Ned served in the U.S. Army with the Norwegian Infantry Division. Ned worked for 23 years as a night maintenance man at the Bellingham National Bank Bldg. He was preceded in death by his wife Olga in 1989 sisters Constance in 1965 & Inga in 1998 and brother John in 1999. Memorials may be made to the Light House Mission. Memorial Services will be held 3:00 p.m., Thurs. Feb. 21, 2002 at Garden Street United Methodist Church. Private burial will be in Enterprise Cemetery. Jones-Moles Funeral Home & Cremation Service.

He was born in Soudan, Minnesota. He spent many years overseas working in the oil industry, most recently with Aramco in Saudi Arabia. After retirement, he moved to Sudden Valley where he designed and built his home on Lake Louise. Jerry is survived by wife Ruth; daughters Kerry of Denver and Robin of Sedro Woolley; sister Cathy of Minnesota and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, August 6, 2006.

Mrs. Klynstra had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 50 years and leaves to survive three sons, Lawrence of Seattle, Joe of this city, and Henry of Alaska; two grandchildren, Danny and Darlene Klynstra, both of this city. Graveside services will be conducted, Friday, May 6, at 10 a.m. in the Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden under the direction of the Westford Funeral Home.
KMAEFLER, Charles L., age 61, of Everson Rt. 2, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, June 12, (1954), following a lingering illness. He had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 14 years. He is survived by one son, Lawrence C.; one stepson, Robert; one daughter, Doris Hall, all of Lansdale, Penn.; two brothers, Raymond and George; one sister, Anna Vallego, all in Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 15, at 2 p.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home in Sumas with Rev. Robert Baldwin officiating.
