FRIBERG, Amanda Anna, age 81 years, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, (1958) at her home in the Bakerview district where she has lived the past 68 years. She was a charter member of the Bakerview Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, Victor of Pasadena, Calif., Rudolph of Albany, Ore., and Gunner of Ferndale; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted in the Monroe Funeral Chapel Saturday, Aug. 9, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Ben Bertell officiating. Final resting place Greenacres Memorial Park.
FRIBERG, Emma C., age 89 of Blaine, passed away in a local rest home Friday, October 15, (1965). Mrs. Friberg had been a resident of the Bellingham area for the past 60 years. Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Brown, of Bellingham; 2 brothers, numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at the McKinney Funeral Home, Monday, October 18 at 11 a.m. Rev. Willard Buckner officiating. Cremation will follow.
FRIBERG, Gunner B. - Visitation for Gunner B. Friberg of Ferndale will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Greenacres Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Ferndale with the Rev. Ralph Poulson officiating. Mr. Friberg died Monday, May 26, 1997 at St. Francis Extended Health Care Center. He was 95. Born March 30, 1902, to Paul and Amanda Lofgren Friberg in Ferndale, he was a life-long Whatcom County resident. He married Hazel Stromgren on Aug. 1, 1929, in Ferndale. She preceded him in death in 1983. He married Sara Lofdahl; she died in 1996. Mr. Friberg worked for Carnation Milk Co. in Ferndale for 33 years and owned and operated a dairy farm near Ferndale. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mrs. (sic) also was preceded in death by grandchild Kent Peterson. Survivors include daughters Margaret Johnson of Edmonds, Lorraine Orwig of Yakima, Madelyn Hofman of Sequim, Norma Jacobson of Bellingham, Alice Schroeder of Ferndale and Arlene Peterson of Anoka, Minn.; sons Paul Friberg of Wenatchee and John Friberg of Bellingham; brother Rudolph Friberg of Vancouver, Wash.; 20 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
FRIBERG, Hazel A., age 79 of 2628 Thornton Road, Ferndale passed away at home Sunday, March 6, 1983. Hazel was a member of Bethany Baptist Church of Ferndale. She graduated from Anoka High School in Anoka, Minnesota, and taught school there for 6 years before moving to Ferndale to marry her husband, Gunner on August 1, 1929. Also surviving are 2 sons, Paul & his wife, Norma Lou Friberg of Wenatchee; John & his wife Gerry Friberg of Ferndale; 6 daughters, Delmar Johnson of Edmonds; Lorraine & her husband James Orwig of Costa Mesa, California; Madelyn & Rod Hofman of Santa Rosa, California; Norma & her husband Floyd Jacobson of Bellingham; Alice & her husband William Schroeder of Ferndale; Arlene & her husband, John Peterson of Anoka, Minnesota; 2 brothers, Henry Stromgren of Cedar, Minnesota; Arthur Stromgren of Cambridge, Minnesota; 3 sisters, Ruth Lacho of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Myrtle Paschke of Jacksonville, Oregon; Edna & her husband, Leonard Pearson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; 21 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives. FRIBERG, Paul J., age 85, of Route 3, Ferndale, passed away at his home Friday morning, April 6, (1951). Mr. Friberg resident of the Ferndale district since 1889 and was a charter member of the Bakerview Baptist Church. Surviving relatives include his wife, Amanda; three sons, Victor, of Los Angeles, Calif., Rudolph, of Crabtree, Ore., and Gunner, of Ferndale; a brother, Olof, of Seattle, and 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services will be conducted within the Chapel of the Monroe Mortuary in Ferndale Monday, April 9, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. A. H. Johnson officiating. Interment in Greenacres Memorial Park.
FRIBORG, Soren Nelson, age 63, of Lynden, passed away in Seattle Monday, November 19, (1951) following an automobile accident. Mr. Friborg had been a resident of Whatcom County for 32 years and formerly lived in Blaine and Bellingham and for the past year Lynden. He was a member of Blaine I.O.O.F. Lodge and employed at the Northwest Co-Op Breeders Association in Lynden. He is survived by his wife, Nellie; one son, Linsey Hill, of Seattle; one grandson; two brothers and one sister in Denmark. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 23, at 1 p.m. in the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden with the Rev. Chester Blair officiating. The Blaine Odd Fellows Lodge will conduct graveside services. Interment Greenacres Memorial Park.
FRICK, Anthony A., age 68, 1612 W. Connecticut Street, passed away Wednesday, June 17, (1964). Mr. Frick had resided in this city since January 1940, and was a fuel oil dealer for many years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; Pierre B. Cornwall Lodge No. 289, F&AM; Maple Leaf Chapter No. 58, O.E.S.; Bellingham Lodge B.P.O.E. No. 194; the Oil and Heat Institute of Washington, and served for twelve years as Secretary for the Fuel Oil Dealers Association. Survivors are his widow, Donna, at home; a son, Donald C., Long Beach, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Laura Ann Huis, Goeppingen, Germany; Miss Linda Lee Frick, at home; one grandson, Brett Frick, Long Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Smyser, Tacoma; Mrs. Leila Lovejoy, Orange, Calif., and a niece Dolores Fabulich, Tacoma. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home.
FRICK, Caroline L., 87, of 1844 Matz Road, Ferndale died Tuesday (Aug. 21, 1990) in Ferndale. She was born on Oct. 13, 1902, in Benkin, Switzerland. She moved to Whatcom County three years ago from Vancouver, Wash. Mrs. Frick's husband, Rudolph A. Frink, died in December 1977. A daughter, Rosa "Terry" Falcon, died in February 1979. Survivors include sons, Rudolph F. of Ferndale and Ronald E. of Washougal; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and many other relatives. A graveside service will be held Friday at a Vancouver cemetery. A Whatcom County memorial service will be conducted later; no date has been set yet. Arrangements are by Moles Funeral Home.
FRICK, Esther Mae who resided at 7072 Blaine Road, passed away in a local hospital, June 25, 1981 at the age of 51. She had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 20 years and was a member of the United Church of Christ in Blaine. She leaves to survive: her husband Rudolph of Blaine; 2 sons, Rudolph Donald Frick of Bellingham; Thomas Frick of Vancouver, WA; 1 daughter, Marilee Susan Wolten of Bellingham; 2 sisters, Dorothy McDow of Portland; Patricia Struxness of Oregon; her mother, Frances Prewett of Ferndale; 2 grandsons; 2 granddaughters. FRICK, George W. Jr., age 90, formerly of Whatcom County, died Sunday, July 16, (1989) at the Masonic Home in Des Moines, Wash. Mr. Frick was born April 26, 1898, in Chicago to George and Jenny Frick. He graduated from Lynden High School in 1917. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War I. After the war he taught farming to veterans in night courses at Lynden and Meridian high schools. He was married to Marie Beecher on Nov. 9, 1925. He farmed near Nooksack and raised raspberries on Hampton Road at Lynden, where he also built a house. He also worked at the Lynden Department Store. The Fricks moved from the county to Reno, Nevada, about 15 years ago. Mr. Frick was a 50-year member and past patron of the Nooksack O.E.S. and also a 50-year member of the Lynden Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Lynden United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held later at the Lynden Cemetery. Mrs. Frick died about five years ago. They had no children.
FRICK, Jennie, age 85 years, of Lynden, passed away Friday, January 11, (1952) at the home of her son, Paul A. Frick, of 2924 Cornwall Avenue. Mrs. Frick was a member of the Lynden chapter of the eastern Star, Lynden Methodist Church, W.C.T.U., Kensington Club, and the Home Demonstration Club. She is survived by two son, Paul of Bellingham, And George W. of Lynden; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Babcock of Dayton, Texas, and Mrs. Bessie Garrett of Haward, Iowa; one brother, Henry DenHartog, of Mankato, Minn.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, January 14, in the Lynden Methodist Church, under the direction of the Gillies funeral home in Lynden, with the Rev. Chester Blair officiating.
FRICK, Marie Beecher, 78, a longtime Whatcom County resident, died Monday (Oct. 17, 1983) in Reno, Nev. She was born in Bellingham January 1905 and married her husband George Frick Jr. on Nov. 9, 1931. They lived later in Nooksack and, for many years, in Lynden, before moving from this area about 15 years ago. A former bookkeeper, Mrs. Frick was a 50-year member and a past matron of the Nooksack chapter, No. 171, of Eastern Star. Surviving in addition to her husband are two nieces and one nephew in Whatcom County and a nephew in Federal Way. The Frick home is at 3783 Betty Ave., Reno, Nev.
FRICK, Mary Katherine, age 84, of 1109 Nevada St., passed away in a local hospital Monday, April 27, (1959). Mrs. Frick had resided in Bellingham for the past nine years and was a member of the Congregational Church in Loveland, Colo. Survivors are five daughters, Mrs. Anna Nayou of Bellingham, Mrs. Helen Ford, of Deming, Mrs. Margaret Turvey, of Kent, Mrs. Lonnie Hayness, of Seattle, and Mrs. Mollie Berdine, of Bryan Texas; three sons, George and Art Heberline, both of Greeley, Colo., and Henry Schire, of Honolulu; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two brothers, George Walker, of Longmont, Colo., and John Walker, of Loveland, Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Lebaack, of Loveland, Colo., and Mrs. Mary Frick, of Seattle; two step-sons, Fred Frick, of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Jake Frick, of Los Angeles; two step-daughters, Mrs. Mary Bauer and Mrs. Annie Kihen, both of Berthaud, Colo. Funeral services were conducted at the Jones Funeral Home by Dr. W. Carl Calhoun, Wednesday, April 29, at 4:30 p.m. The remains were forwarded to the Hunter Funeral Home at Loveland, Colo., for services and interment at the Lakeside Cemetery.
FRIDAY, Charles Henry, age 32, of 3040 59th N. W., Seattle, passed away Sun., March 26, 1978. Mr. Friday attended the Salvation Army, was a Vietnam Veteran where he was decorated with the Bronze Medal. Was a member of the Operating Engineers Local No. 302 of Seattle, the Laborers Local No. 652 of Santa Ana, Calif. He had attended Western Wash. Univ., Univ. of Wash. & Chaffee State College, had been a probation officer in Seattle for 2 years and had spent 3 years working on the Alaska Pipeline. He is survived by 2 children: Reuben and Holly Friday of Seattle. His mother, Edna Hillaire of Olympia. A brother, Sgt. John William Friday in the U.S. Air Force, Keesler A.F.B. 2 sisters: Edna Harper and Georgine Knight both of Olympia. 2 aunts, Mary Hillaire of B'ham and Pauline Covington Hillaire of Omak. 2 uncles: Reuben Hillaire of Arlington and Bert Hillaire of Kent. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph Hillaire and Edna Scott. Funeral services will be held in Moles Funeral Home, Fri., March 31 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Lummi Reservation Cemetery.
FRIED, Fernando J. "Fred" age 79, of 5775 Golden Eagle Drive, Ferndale, passed away Tuesday, November 15, (1983) at a Bellingham area hospital. He had been a resident of Ferndale for the last eight years. He was a member of IBEW Local No. 191. He is survived by his wife Wilma of Ferndale, three brothers, Otto Fried of Spokane; Bud Fried of Michigan, Don Fried of Edmonton, Alberta; two sisters, Alice Harvey of Duncan, B.C. and Peggy Jov of Edmonton, Alberta, and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park with Rev. Harold Minkler officiating. Arrangements by Moles Funeral Home.
FRIEDL, Adolph H., 2715 Walnut Street, age 62, passed away Friday, May 27, (1966). A twelve-year resident of this city, Mr. Friedl was manager of the American Wholesale Grocery. He was a member of the Broadway United Presbyterian Church; past Commodore of Squalicum Yacht Club; past Supply Officer of Power Squadron, and a member of the Coast guard Auxiliary. Survivors are his widow, Jewell; three sons, James, USMC, Whidby Island; Glen city, and Douglas, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Hall of Albany, Ga.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Karen Easterbrook, city, and sixteen grandchildren. FRIEDMANN, Paul Kent, age 8 years, passed away Monday, July 22, (1946) following a short illness, in Minneapolis, Minn. Paul was the son of Rev. and Mrs. Paul E. Friedmann now serving the Parkside Advent Christian Church in Minneapolis. Beside his parents Paul is survived by two brothers, Evan Boynton, and John Mark; one sister Susan Marie, grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. S. R. Boynton, Bellingham, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Friedmann, New Briton, Conn. Memorial services were held Tuesday evening within the Sundseth Funeral Home. The remains are being forwarded to Bellingham to the Harlow-Hollingsworth funeral home where services will be conducted by the Rev. George A. Arthur, Saturday, July 27 at 2 p.m. Final resting place, Greenacres Memorial Park.
FRIEDRICHS, Ben, age 78, of Bow, Wash. Died Friday, August 6, 1982 at United General Hospital, following a brief illness. He was born July 14, 1904 in Hoenkirchen, Germany, and came to Skagit County in 1924. He had resided at Bow since 1934. His marriage to Helen Smith took place January 17, 1934, in Bremerton, Wash. The couple had celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary this year. Mr. Friedrichs was a retired dairy farmer & a member of the Holsteins Breeder Assoc., and the American Guernsey Cattle Club. He was well known as a judge of registered Holsteins and Guernseys, and was active in judging cattle in the wester United States & Canada. He was a member of the Edison Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife Helen, at home; 2 daughters, Mrs. Robert (Burna Dean) Crawford, of Roseburg, Oregon, and Mrs. David (Margret) Dujardin, of Lk. Stevens; 2 sons, Ben Friedrichs, Jr., of Austin, Texas, and Jerry Friedrichs, of Bow, Wash.; 8 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Marie Fass, of Monticello, Iowa, Emma Altmanns, of Javer, Germany, and Ella Ricklefs, of same town; 1 brother, Jake Friedrichs, of Bow, Wash.; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and 1 brother. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 9, 1982, at the Hulbush Chapel, internment will follow in the Bow Cemetery, with Pastor E. C. FRIEL, Kent M., 57, passed away Sat. April 28, (1990) at the family home in Bellingham. Kent was raised in Thompson Falls, Montana, and attended school there. He served in the Air Force for 6 years in Alaska and then settled in Anchorage where he owned and operated a service station until 1971. He was an avid sportsman with a great love and appreciation for the outdoors. One of his trophies, a mounted Polar Bear, was exhibited at the Sea-laska Exposition held in Seattle in May, 1971. The bear is now in private ownership in Anchorage, AK. Kent and his family moved to Bellingham in 1971. He was currently employed as a project surveyor for Whiteley-Jacobsen in Everett. Kent was preceded in death by his father, Claude M. Friel and an infant daughter, Debra Lynn. His mother, Phi Friel, lives in Thompson Falls, MT. He is survived by his wife K. Arlene; his 3 daughters and their husbands, Wendy & Ron Thorpe, Bellingham, Shawn & Howard "Han" Nachtrieb, Seattle; and Traci & Ron Quinn, Snohomish; his only brother, John Friel, Marysville; and his only sister Patsy Jolley of Anchorage; 1 great grandson Kristoffer Thorpe and 1 great granddaughter Mallory K. Thorpe, both of Bellingham. A private memorial service will be held at home per his wishes. Under the direction of Jerns & Leveck Funeral Chapel & Crematorium.
FREIMANN, Marion N., age 86, of 3115 Squalicum Parkway, Bellingham, passed away Saturday July 28, 1990. A member of First Congregational Church, Retired Teacher's Association and Birchwood Garden Club, she was a long time resident of Bellingham; taught Home Economics in Bellingham Schools for many years. Survived by her husband, LeVern N. Freimann; daughter, Mary Jane Smith of San Ramone, CA; granddaughters, Valerie K. Smith of Tempe, Arizona, and Laurie J. Moyer of Germany; grandson, Stuart G. FRIEND, David L., age 46, 3369 E. Badger Rd., Everson, passed away suddenly as the result of a farm machinery accident at his home on Thurs. Aug. 20, (1981). A lifetime county resident, Mr. Friend had attended the Abbotsford Christian Science Church and was currently the master of the Sumas Valley Grange. He was also a member of the Whatcom County Dairy federation and had served in the U. S. Army. On June 22, 1975 he was married to Lorna Williams in Chilliwack, B. C. FRIEND, Elizabeth Mary, age 81 of 3626 Meridian St., passed away Wed., Nov. 16, (1977). She had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 3 years and was retired from the United States Department of Public Health Service. FRIES, Fae, age 81, formerly of Vancouver, WA passed away at Alderwood Park Convalescent Care Center in Bellingham December 31, 1997. Born Sept. 13, 1916 in Portland, OR to Harry and Florence Hober. Fae attended school in Portland, OR. She was active in music and sports. In 1935 she married Fred Fries in Stevenson, WA and lived in Vancouver, WA for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1973. Her entire life was devoted to her children. She is survived by her daughter Joanne Poole and husband Richard of Lummi Island; Fred Fries of Vancouver; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who were the focus of her life. She always wanted to be a grandmother and spent many hours enjoying her grandchildren. We were blessed with her kindness and love and caring spirit. In her stay at Alderwood she gained many friends. Funeral services will be in Vancouver, WA at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, 1101 NE 112th Ave., Monday, January 5, 1998 at 12:30 p.m. and burial thereafter at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. For the friends of Fae & family in Bellingham, there will be a remembrance Sunday, Jan. 11, 1997 from 1-3 p.m. at her granddaughters home at 2995 Haynie Rd. in Custer.
FRIEND, Jessie Kathleen "Bobbe" Warburton of Bellingham died at home Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997. She was 90. No services will be held. She was born in October, 1907, in Ballard. Mrs. Friend lived in Kelowna, B.C., in the 1930s and 1940s before moving to California. She moved to Bellingham in 1994. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, brothers Don Warburton and Al Shields and sister Clara Cottingham. Survivors include niece Levina Demuth of Bellingham and nephew Richard Warburton of Skykomish. Arrangements are by Whatcom Cremation Association.
FRIESAN, Mary Emily (Hoy) age 95, formerly 2501 E St., passed away Mon. April 20, (1987). Mrs. Friesan had been a resident of Bellingham for many years and was very devoted to the Church of God. She leaves to survive 2 sons, Bill Hoy of Palm Springs & Jim Hoy of Bellingham; 4 grandchildren, Doug & Gerry Price of Seattle, Diana Ruth Hoy of Snohomish & Megan Anderson of Alger; 20 great-grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren. FRIESE, August John, age 81, of 444 16th St. passed away at the family residence, Tuesday, Dec. 6, (1955) following a lingering illness. Mr. Friese had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 50 years and was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society, Rotary Club and the United Commercial Travelers and was recently awarded the plaque for being a member of over 50 years in this assembly. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret A. Friese at home; two daughters, Mrs. Katherine Ludwigson of Bellingham, Mrs. Margaret Rose of Seattle; six brothers, William, Henry, Leo, Fred and Albert Friese, all of Leban, Wash., Bernard Friese of Washington, Iowa; also nine grandchildren. Rosary will be recited in the Chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home Thursday, Dec. 8 at 8 p.m. Requeim Low Mass will be celebrated from the Sacred Heart Church Friday, Dec. 9 at 10 a.m., followed by interment in Bay View Cemetery.
FRIESEN, Abe, age 70, of B St., Blaine passed away at his residence Sunday, Sept. 9, 1990. He had been a resident of Blaine for the last 30 years. FRIESEN, Alfred, 80, of 202 N. 34th St., died on Saturday (Nov. 16, 1991) at his daughter's home in Bellingham. He was born on Aug. 15, 1911 in Dallas, Ore., the son of Bernhard and Gertrude Friesen. Mr. Friesen lived in Bellingham since 1949 and retired from Builders Concrete Co. in 1972, after years as a laborer. He was a member of Laborers Local No. 276. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Burma Campaign during World War II. Mr. Friesen was an avid gardener. Survivors include: a son, Gerald Elmer Friesen of Bellingham; daughters, Cynthia N. Clark and Lorraine E. Holmwood of Bellingham; a sister, Alma Walther of Lummi Island; a brother, Harold L. Friesen of Nevada; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. No services will be held.
FRIESEN, Florence E., age 66, of 1167 Harrison St., Blaine, passed away at home Sun., May 21, 1978. She had been a resident of Blaine for the past 15 years. FRIESEN, Louise S., age 80, 134 E. Grover St., Lynden, passed away Sunday, June 2, 1985, in Lynden. She was born April 2, 1905, in Nikolaifeld, Russia. She had been a resident of Lynden the last 6 years. Prior to that, she lived in Idaho. She was a member of the First Mennonite Church of Aberdeen, Idaho. Mrs. Friesen was preceded in death by her husband, Henry S. Friesen, in June 1982, and also two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by six sons, Vernon and his wife Ann of Manhattan, Kan., Leo and his wife Carol of Hayward, Cal., Donald and his wife Gladys of Bellevue, James and his wife Leone of Idaho Falls, Id., Melvin and his wife July of Newton, Kan., and Larry and his wife Beverly of Henderson, Neb.; one daughter, Mildred and her husband Stan Schmidt of Custer; four brothers Jacob, Peter, and Abe Isaak of Aberdeen, Id., and John Isaak of Couer d'Alene, Id.; three sisters, Katherine Schroeter of American Falls, Id., Anna Lehman of Aberdeen, Id., and Frieda Wiebe of Sterling, Id.; 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services were conducted Thursday, June 6, at 10:30 a.m. at Enterprise Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at Glendale Mennonite Church with Rev. Paul Isaak [of Ritzville] officiating.
FRIGO, Tony, age 79, 2315 Williams St., passed away Monday, Aug. 24, (1959) following an extended illness. Mr. Frigo had resided in Bellingham for the past 39 years. He was a member of the Church of the Assumption and was a retired coal miner. He leaves to survive two brothers, one sister, and two grandchildren, all in Italy. Requiem mass will be said Thursday, Aug. 27, at 9 a.m. in the Church of the Assumption. Interment will be at Bay View under the direction of Westford Funeral Home.

FRISBIE, Harold L., age 60, of 2804 Williams St., passed away suddenly Sunday, Aug. 2, (1959). Mr. Brisbie (sic) had been a 55-year resident of this community; was a veteran of world war I; was a 35-year member of Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7, American Legion, and for the past few years had been the owner-operator of the cigar stand at the Leopold Hotel. Surviving relatives are his widow, Merle C. at home; one son, Dale Lee and one daughter, Mrs. Allene May Kolb, both of Bellingham; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Nolte of Renton and many nieces and nephews. FRISHET, Helen Dargie, age 88 years, passed away at 1906 E. Sunset Drive, Sunday, Nov. 4, (1945) following an eight months' illness. Mrs. Frishet came to Bellingham 40 years ago and was a member of the Whatcom County Dairymen's Association. She has no surviving relatives. FRISK, Carl Arvid, age 65, of 4201 Harrison Street, passed away at the family home Sunday, May 4, (1952). Mr. Frisk had resided in Bellingham for the past 40 years and had been employed as an insurance man. He had attended the First Baptist Church, and was a member of Whatcom Lodge No. 151, F. & A. M. FRISK, Carl J., age 60, of Granite Falls, passed away in an Everett hospital, Sunday, October 26, (1947). Mr. Frisk had resided in that community for the past three years and prior to that had been a resident of Acme for forty years. Mrs. Frisk had been a 49-year resident of this community; was retired from the teaching system of the Bellingham school District; was a member of the First Baptist Church, a member of Sehome chapter No. 17, O.E.S.; was a member of the White Shrine and Bellingham Court, Order of Amaranth, and also a member of the National Retired Teachers Assn. Surviving relatives are two brothers, C. Homer Dean of Seattle and F. Merlin Dean of walnut Creek, Calif.; one sister, Miss Belva U. Dean of Seattle, and many nieces and nephews. FRISVOLD, Anton O., age 74, of 1634 Humboldt Street, passed away at home Monday, November 7, (1955). Mr. Frisvold had been a resident of this community since 1928, moving here from Minnesota. He was married to Martha Prossit in 192_ in Minnesota. Mr. Frisvold was a retired millworker and a member of the Lutheran Church. Surviving relatives include several nieces and nephews in Norway. FRITH, Albert, Vancouver, B. C., passed away at a local hospital, Wednesday, November 19, (1947), after a brief illness. Mr. Frith was a visitor in Bellingham when he became ill. The remains have been forwarded by the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home to Vancouver, B.C. where funeral services will be held and interment made.
FIRTH, Ellen V., 89, who lived in Lynden for 60 years, died Saturday, June 13, 1987, at Edmonds Care Center. A private family service was held June 17 at Greenacres Memorial Park, Ferndale. Mrs. Frith was born in Cambridge, Minn., on August 5, 1897. She was married to Edward Frith in Butte, Montana, in 1913 and they moved to Lynden in 1923. Mr. Frith was one of the original partners of what is now Farmers Equipment. She is survived by a daughter, Shirley West of Seattle; five grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were by Beck's Funeral Home of Edmonds.
FRITH, Emma, age 93 of Lynden passed away March 30, (1958) following a short illness. She had been a resident of Lynden for the past 18 years. Survivors include one son, Edward J., of Lynden; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren. FRITSCHE, Harold E., of Northridge, Calif., died on Thursday (May 8, 1986) in Bellingham. He had been a resident of Ferndale since October of last year, when he moved here from Los Angeles. He was a member of St. Mark's Presbyterian Church of Northridge; Hawthorne Lodge 647 F&AM of Hawthorne, Calif.; Stockton Bodies of Scottish Rite of Stockton, Calif.; Al Malaikah Temple of Los Angeles; Order of Eastern Star, Hawthorne Chapter 469; Alumni Association of the University of Michigan; and the Retired Teacher Association of California. He was born in Lebanon, Ill., of June 14, 1902. He is survived by his wife, Norma R. of Northridge; two daughters, Mary Kelly of Ferndale and Norma Fritsche of Northridge; and one son, Eugene of Canoga Park, Calif. Memorial services will be held at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church in Northridge. Local arrangements are by Moles Funeral Home.

Mrs. Fritz was born May 26, 1899, in Sweden. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Surviving Mrs. Fritz is her brother, Knute Ustov [Gustav] Forslof. FRITZBERG, Evelyn, 90, a longtime Everson resident, died Saturday, March 2, 1991. She was born Evelena Anna Burman on June 17, 1900 in Boelus, Neb. Her family moved from Nebraska to Washington in 1910. She graduated from Bellingham Normal School after a two-year program leading to a lifetime teaching certificate. She taught school off and on into her 60s. Her favorite grace to teach was fifth. She was married to William (Bill) Fritzberg on June 23, 1925. He preceded her in death in 1988. She was involved in the Everson Presbyterian Church for many years. She played the organ, held office as a deacon and served in many other ways. She also was involved with Easter Star for many years, serving in various offices and providing musical support. Her special interests included music, mountains, flowers, reading, sunsets and the "Wheel of Fortune" television game show. She is survived by two sons, Alan Fritzberg and wife Lisbeth of Edmonds and Donald Fritzberg and wife Eilene of Boardman, Ore.; a daughter-in-law, Marie Fritzberg-Peters; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son Jim in 1978, sisters Emma and Edith and a brother-in-law, Sen. E. W. Lennart. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at Everson Presbyterian Church with Rev. Sharon Hare officiating. Burial followed in Nooksack Cemetery. FRITZBERG, James W., age 46, of 16620 W. 72nd St., Edmonds, WA passed away Fri. April 14th, (1978). He graduated from Nooksack Valley High School in 1949. He resided in Whatcom Co. until he graduated from Western. He received his masters degree there. He was in the U.S. Coast Guard for 4 yrs. He married Marie Johnson from Clearbrook in 1953. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary March 21, 1978. He was principal of College Place Junior High in Edmonds. He is survived by his wife Marie. A son John of Tacoma & a son Greg at home. FRITZBERG, William T., 89, who lived in Whatcom County since 1938, died Tuesday (June 7, 1988) in Edmonds. Mr. Fritzberg, 2131 Stickney Island Road, Everson, was born Jan. 10, 1899, in Varmland, Sweden. His family moved from Sweden to Stockholm, S. D., in 1905. He married Evelyn Burman on June 23, 1925, in Bellingham. He was a member of the Nooksack Masonic Lodge for more than 60 years and a member of the Everson Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of the family home; two sons, Alan of Edmonds and Donald of Boardman, Ore., seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A son, James, died in 1978. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Everson Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Tom Tweedie will officiate. Burial will follow in Nooksack cemetery. Arrangements are with Gillies Funeral Home.
FRIZZELL, Alvin "Al" L., 78, a resident of Sedro-Woolley for the past 40 years, died at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley on October 30, 1990 following a long illness. He was born in Sylva, North Carolina on May 19, 1912, the son of Jason and Lillie Frizzell. He was married to Wilma Morgan in Clayton, Georgia on May 12, 1943. He was a veteran of U. S. Army service during World War II and worked as a log truck driver and Heavy equipment operator for many years before an industrial accident forced his retirement in 1962. He was a member of the Hamilton Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Wilma of Sedro-Woolley; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Harold Gene and Shirley Frizzell of Sedro-Woolley, Larry and Wendy Frizzell of Deming, and Johnny Frizzell of Sedro-Woolley; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kay Willard of Sedro-Woolley, and Linda and Larry Moore of Missouri; four sisters, Effie Mae Farmer, Gracie Williams, Berthie Presley and Ollie Lewis, all of North Carolina; 28 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. Interment was in the Hamilton Cemetery under direction of Lemley Chapel.
FROBERG, Ernest G., age 53 years, of Route 1, Sumas, passed away suddenly Thursday, Oct 30, (1958) as a result of a farm accident at his home. He was born in Seattle April 8, 1905, moving to Whatcom County in 1920. In 1942 he moved to Sumas from the Everson area. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Sumas, Sumas Grange, Farm Bureau, and at the time of his death was vice president of the Production Credit Association. He is survived by his wife Zella, at the family home; two sons, Floyd of Sumas and Edward of Rt. 3, Lynden; one brother, Roy of Rt. 2, Lynden, and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted in the Gillies Funeral Home in Sumas at 2 p.m. Saturday Nov. 1, with Rev. Earl Krouse officiating. Burial will follow in the Sumas Cemetery.

FROISNESS, Esther Rose, age 40, passed away at the family home, 2400 Forty-eighth Street, Monday, april 4, (1949). Mrs. Froisness had resided in this community for the past 24 years and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Surviving relatives are her husband, Tom, and one daughter, Miss Gloria Jean, both at home; parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Walter Gould; one brother, Lorne E. Gould; two sisters, Mrs. Dorcas F. McCloud and Mrs. Ruth M. Johnson, all of Bellingham. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth, where services will be conducted by Dr. Robert T. FROISNESS, Tom, age 57, of 512 Garden St., passed away at a local hospital Friday, July 20, (1962). A cement finisher for the City Water Department, Mr. Froisness was a 25 year resident of Bellingham and was a member of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Union, Local 114. Survivors are his widow, Nelda D. at home; two daughter, Mrs. Gloria Grable of Los Angeles, Calif., and Miss Patricia Groesbeck at home; one son, Dan Groesbeck at home; two granddaughters; one brother, Selman Froisness of Couer d'Alene, Idaho; sisters, Mrs. Alma Rees of Seattle and Mrs. Hilda Patelski of New York City. FROISTAD, Mina, age 65, of Albion, Neb., passed away in a local hospital, Friday, August 31, (1956). Mrs. Froistad was a member of the Lutheran Church in Nebraska and leaves to survive one brother, Jacob J. Froistad of Albion, Neb; three sisters, Mrs. Jena Rolvik of Albion, Neb., Mrs. Rachel Endahl of Lane, S. D., and Mrs. Marie Bruland of Bellingham. The remains rest at the Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where services will be conducted Friday evening, August 31 at 7:30 p.m. Final resting placed will be the family plot in Newman Grove, Neb.

Mr. Frombly had been a resident of this community for the past 55 years, had been employed by Automotive Parts Service since 1939, was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, BPO Elks No. 194, Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44 F&AM, Bellingham Yacht Club, YMCA, many years in Scouting, Mt. Baker Council and active in other community organizations. FROOM, Margaret, age 86 years, 1337 Humboldt, passed away at a local hospital, Friday June 11, (1948). Mrs. Froom had resided in this vicinity the past thirty six years and was a member of the Garden Street Methodist Church and the Women's Society of Christian Service. FROSS, Lela Ethel age 82 of 5841 Malloy Ave., Ferndale, passed away at home Monday Jan. 28, 1985. She'd been a Whatcom county resident the last 17 years, & lived in Yakima prior to that. FROST, Dennis Merle, formerly of Sumas, passed away at St. Joseph Hospital's South Campus in Bellingham on Monday, May 13, 1991 at the age of 82. Mr. Frost was born on Aug. 20, 1908 in Alder, Wash., a son of Leon and Nancy (Weatherby) Frost. He came from Cultass Lake to Whatcom County as a small boy. He was married to Marion Durham in Bellingham. She preceded her husband in death in 1989. Mr. Frost was a heavy equipment operator for a cement company for many years. He was a member of the former Sumas Flying Club and enjoyed riding his motorcycle until the age of 80. He is survived by two sons, Carl Frost and wife Joyce of Reno, Nev., and Richard Frost and wife Shirley of Sumas; two daughters, Neila Stewart and husband Jerry of Kendall and Linda Thomas and husband Bob of Cranbrook, B. C.; two sisters, Blanche Roland of Friday Harbor and LaVerne Cowin of Ferndale; sister-in-law Lucille Frost of Bellingham; 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. Besides his wife and parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his brother, Omar Frost. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Sumas Advent Christian Church with Rev. FROST, Dorothy, Dr., 85, a resident of Bayview Manor in Seattle, died Oct. 30, 1992. She taught in Lynden for two years and at Garfield High School in Seattle. She served in the American Red Cross during World War II. She taught at the University of Washington and also was vice president of the American Korean Foundation in New York City and Seoul, South Korea. She was a graduate of Washington State University and earned graduate degrees from Columbia University. She was a member of Mortar Board and Phi Kappa Gamma. She was a recipient of honors and awards from the South Korean government. She was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Cox. She is survived by her nephews and their wives, William and Janet Cox and Kenneth and Julie Cox. A memorial services was held Monday at Bayview Manor. Inurnment was in Hoquiam.

FROST, Doug, of 1364 Olympic Way died Monday, June 7, 1993. He was 58. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Jones-Moles Funeral Home in Bellingham with the Rev. Jeff Lervik officiating. Mr. Frost will be cremated, with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. He was born June 10, 1934, in Mather, Wis., to Carson and Christina Alexander Frost. He served in the Navy, retiring in 1971. He later worked for the city of Bellingham as a mechanic until 1987. Mr. Frost enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting antiques and repairing clocks. He was preceded in death by a stepson Meryl Payne, this year. Survivors include his wife, Elvera Frost of Bellingham; daughters Shelley Harvey and Karin Frost, both of Bellingham; stepdaughter Tracy James of Colorado; sons Brian Frost and Darin Frost, both of Bellingham; stepson Roger Payne of Bellingham; and numerous other relatives.
FROST, Effie Weatherby, 96, died Jan. 4, 1993 at the home of her daughter in Hayward, Calif. She was born April 10, 1896 and lived in the Columbia Valley area for many years. She was married to Louis Rex Frost in 1913 and they also lived in the Columbia Valley area for many years. She made her home in Gold Beach, Ore. for 30 years before going to live with her daughter more than two years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex, and two sons, Clifford Frost and Rex Frost. She is survived by two daughters, Iona Fagerhold of Hayward, Calif. and Stella Ellis of Edmonds; one sister, Pearl Forslof of Bellingham; a sister-in-law, Pauline Weatherby of Columbia Valley; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Family services were held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Seattle on Jan. 11, 1993.

FROST, Marion A. - A memorial service was held for Marion A. Frost on April 17, 1989, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Everson with Mr. Richard Jellum officiating. Mrs. Frost passed away on Thursday, April 13, (1989) in Lynden, at age 79. Until recently she had resided in Sumas. She was a native Whatcom County resident, having been born in Maple Falls on June 12, 1909, a daughter of Harry and Lou Durham. She was married to Dennis Frost in Bellingham on Dec. 3, 1926. Mrs. Frost was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and sewing. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dennis, of the family home, two daughters, Neila Stewart and husband Jerry of Kendall, and Linda Thomas and husband Bob of Nanaimo, B.C.; two sons, Richard Frost and wife Shirley of Sumas, and Carl Frost of Reno, Nevada; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Debra Colleen, in 1958, and three brothers and one sister. Arrangements were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.
FROST, Ned Irving - A Masonic memorial service for Ned Irving Frost will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Gillies Funeral Home chapel with Gordon Graham officiating. His ashes will be placed in Lynden Cemetery. Mr. Frost of Christian Health Care Center died Saturday, Dec. 28, 1996, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was 82. Mr. Frost was born Aug. 13, 1914, to Joseph Chatakua and Ola Mae Baltzley Frost in Des Moines, Iowa. The family moved to Lincoln, Neb., in 1926. Mr. Frost attended the University of Nebraska, majoring in dairy product management. He married Mary "Bea" Fanning on June 25, 1936, in McCune, Kan. They moved to Fareberry, Kan., where he worked in a local creamery. They moved to Southern California in 1940, where he worked for McDonnell Douglas Corp during World War II. He later worked for J. C. Carter Pump Co. He retired in 1975. He and his wife lived in Northern California for several years before moving to Whatcom County in October 1993 to be near family. Mr. Frost was a lifetime member of Boy Scouts of America and 50-year member of the Order of the Masonics. He enjoyed writing poetry. He was preceded in death by his wife in November 1996 and by his brothers, Arthur Frost and Harold Frost. Survivors include sons Thomas Warren Frost of Magdalena, N. M., and Richard Frost of Sumas, and three grandchildren.

Born March 19, 1907 in Washington, he was a Whatcom County resident for 75 years; owned Frost Fuel Company in Bellingham from which he retired in 1969; member of F.O.E. aerie No. 31, Bellingham. Survived by his wife, Lucile Frost of Sumas. Son, Barry Frost of Bellingham. Daughter, Omarice Frost of Sumas. Grandchildren, Brett, Stacy and Mindy Frost, all of Bellingham. FROST, Patricia Kathleen of Bellingham died Saturday, July 12, 1997. She was 77. No service will be held. Born March 17, 1920, to Percival and Ethel Lockley Blake in Croydon, England, she emigrated to Canada in 1956 and to the United States in 1965. A Bellingham resident since 1976, Mrs. Frost enjoyed shopping, visiting Reno, reading mystery novels and supporting the Vancouver Canucks hockey team. Survivors include son Wavell Frost of Vancouver, B.C., daughters Yasmin Frost of Bellingham and Annette Richards of San Francisco, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
FROST, Shirley M. died peacefully March 30, 2007 at her home surrounded by family members. Shirley was born on October 21, 1936 in Frobisher, Saskatchewan, Canada and gained U.S. citizenship in 1961. She married Richard Frost on January 21, 1956 and they made their home in Sumas. She was a loving, smart talented and dedicated woman who lived her life to the fullest. She loved her family, friends and the community. She served as a Member of the Sumas American Legion Post 212 Auxiliary. She retired from Norman Jensen Custom Brokers after 28 years of service. For over 35 years she served as treasurer for the Sumas Chamber of Commerce and as the treasurer for the Sumas Junior Rodeo. She was a true asset to all of Sumas with her involvement in Sumas Days, Bull-A-Rama, Easter Egg Hunt, Sumas Fireworks, Sumas Jr. Rodeo and many other events. She is survived by her husband, Richard, of 51 years; sons Rick (Bobbi), Robert (Patty) and Ron; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sister Blanche Bushman; numerous nieces and nephews and very special friend Leann Martin. Graveside Services will be held Saturday April 7 at 3 p.m. at Sumas Cemetery with Carl "Spud" Bronkema officiating, followed by fellowship and refreshments at the Sumas American Legion Post 212. A special "thank you" to the Nooksack Valley Graduating Class of 1954 for their many years of friendship, love and support.

FRUETEL, Harold H. - A former Pacific American Fisheries employe here, Harold H. Freutel, Seattle, died in a Seattle hospital Sunday following open heart surgery Friday (May 6, 1963). He was 41. Mr. Freutel came to Bellingham from Long Prairie, Minn., in 1943 and worked in the office at PAF for 11 years, moving to Pelican, Alaska, in 1954 in the employ of the Pelican Packing Co. In 1957 that firm transferred him to Seattle where he became office manager and vice president. Surviving are the widow, Arlene, at home; two daughters, Barbara and Judith, both at home, his mother, Mrs. Orrin McNeal of Long Prairie; and three brothers, Duane of Eugene, Ore., and Wilbur and Leonard, both of Long Prairie. He was a member of Fairhaven Lodge No. 73, F&AM, and the Ballard Elks. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Arthur Wright Funeral Home in Seattle followed by Masonic graveside services at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Greenacres Memorial Park.
FRUETEL, Linda Jean, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fruetel, 902 Wilson Street, passed away at a local hospital, Wednesday, December 1, (1948). Surviving relatives include, beside the parents, two small sisters, Barbara and Judith, and one grandmother, Mrs. Mae Kampenkel, all of Bellingham. Graveside services will be conducted, Friday, December 3, at 1:30 p.m., under the direction of the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home, at Greenacres Memorial Park, with the Rev. Paul Woodward officiating.
