FREASE, Fern G., 81, of 276 Beard Road, Lynden, passed away Dec. 26, 1990 at home. Born March 22, 1909 in Revena, Neb., Mrs. Frease moved to Lynden a short time ago. She is survived by a daughter, Lynn and husband Wayne Tew of Lynden; a son, Loren Frease of Baldwin Park, Calif.; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held Friday at Jones-Moles Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Olmsted officiating. Burial will take place in Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, Calif.FREEBERG, Galen Norius, passed away from cancer on December 12, 2004 at his home in Annandale, VA. Born February 4, 1933 to Albin and Mathilda ("Tillie") Freeberg, he graduated in 1951 from Bellingham High. Graduating from Western Washington State College in 1954, he began a career in computer technology at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle. Moving to the east coast in 1961, he worked for various firms over the years, including RCA, Applied Data Research, Pinkerton and the Pentagon. He retired in 1998 while with the Navy Computer and Telecommunication Station in the Washington area. Galen was preceded in death by his parents his oldest brother Albin; his sister-in-law Mary Ann; and his sister Thyra. He is survived by Mildred, his wife of 37 years; his daughters Kari and her husband Tom Carney of Portland OR; by his daughter Thyra and her husband Colin Parcell of Renton, VA; by bother Carlin and his wife Sharon of Bellingham; by brother Erling and his wife Dolores of Wenatchee, WA. Galen was known for his quick mind, easy-going manner, an infectious laugh, and his joy in others. Private about his personal accomplishments, it was only recently revealed that he was developing software for Interpol and Title 9 programs for the U.S Department of Education. Although he never realized his intention of moving back nearer to his "roots", he was unique among his peers about returning regularly and maintaining close contacts with his family and school chums, who will all miss him sorely.
FREEBERG, Mary Ann, age 59, of 825 Liberty Street, Bellingham, WA, passed away Saturday, February 27, 1993. Born January 10, 1934 in Medford, Oregon to Norman and Sigfrid Ohrt, she was a resident of Bellingham for 20 years; member of First Presbyterian Church; had been a teacher and nutrition educator; owned and operated The Paper Crunch until 1992; was a leader in the Independent Business community. Qualities that distinguished her as the perfect mom accounted for her success in her business and in life. Her cheerful competence attracted a loyal clientele. Her courage and indomitable good nature inspired and sustained us through out her relentless ordeal. We are all better for having had her in our midst. Survived by her husband Carlin H. Freeberg of Bellingham; sons, Kris and wife Susanne Freeberg of Bellingham, Morgan Freeberg of Sacramento, CA; brothers, Robert Ohrt of Tacoma, WA, Wallace Ohrt of Seattle, WA and Dan Ohrt of Manson, WA. FREDEEN, Andrew G., age 90 years, passed away at a local hospital Monday, March 26, (1945). Mr. Fredeen was a retired farmer and resided at 1150 Ellis Street. Deceased was a charter member of the Mission Covenant Church, and leaves the following survivors: one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Strandberg, Bellingham; four sons, Clarence, Bellingham; Emil E., Los Angeles; Reuben N., Army Engineers; Axel P., Seattle; eleven grand and seven great-grandchildren. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Everett Montgomery, pastor of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Saturday, March 31, at 1:30 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.
FREDEEN, Arthur E. - Funeral services for Arthur E. Fredeen, 89, Mount Vernon, will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Kern Funeral Home with burial in Hawthorne Lawn Memorial Park. Born and educated in Minnesota, Mr. Fredeen came to Washington in 1927. He retired from farming in 1946 and was a trustee in the Emanuel Baptist Church of Mount Vernon. He died Friday (May 17, 1974) in a Skagit nursing home. Survivors include one son, Shiril Bjork of Mount Vernon; two daughters, Mrs. Wilber Wesley of Seattle and Mrs. James Roberts of Bellingham; two sisters, Mrs. August Anderson and Mrs. Nels Bergman in Minnesota; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
FREDEEN, Clarence E., age 71, of 2475 Chuckanut Dr., passed away at home Tuesday, May 16, (1961). A veteran of World War I, Mr. Fredeen was a retired policeman and a resident of Bellingham or the past 59 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the Retired Police Assn. Survivors are his widow, Myrta, at home; one step-son, Robert G. Belland and one step-daughter, Mrs. Shirley A. Brown, both of Bellingham; six grandchildren; two brothers, Reuben and Axel Fredeen, both of Seattle; numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted at the church of Jesus Christ, Latter Day Saints at 2925 James St., by Bishop Henry Linde, Thursday, May 18, at 1 p.m. under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home. Final resting place Greenacres Memorial Park.

Previously he had served 2 yrs in the Special Forces Unit of the U.S. Army in West Germany. He leaves to survive a wife, Tish & a son, Max of Thurmont. He is beloved son of James & Gale Frederick; brother of April & Deborah Frederick all of Bellingham; grandson of Virginia Frederick of Baltimore, MD & Virginia Park of Ferndale; nephew of Duane & Joann Park, Anaheim, CA; Ken & Marleen Park, Lynden; Dan & Rebecca Park, Kendall; & numerous cousins in the area. FREDRICKSEN, Christine - Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at one o'clock for the late Mrs. Christine Hansen Fredrickson who passed away at her home at Delta Monday after an illness of only a few days. She had a host of friends in the district to whom the news of her death was a great shock. Mrs. Fredricksen was born in Denmark Nov. 2, 1878, and came to this country at the age of twelve and settled near Delta. She is survived by her husband Carl Fredricksen, and two brothers, Chris and Peter Hansen. Rev. E. O. Grimes will have charge of the services.

He was born Jan. 7, 1908 in Osage City, Kansas, a son of the late Nils & Esther Fredrickson. He was a 1928 graduate of Sedro-Woolley High School and attended the Oregon School of Technology in Portland. His marriage to Hanna Anderson took place Dec. 14, 1934 in Burlington. Mr. Fredrickson was a retired Dairy Man and a member of the Edison Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife, Hannah at home; 2 sons, Stanley A. Fredrickson of Renton; & Dr. Marvin D. Fredrickson of Seattle; 3 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Victor (Aline) Nelson of Burlington; Elnora Walker of Snohomish; 2 brothers, Fred Fredrickson of Snoqualmie; & Charles Fredrickson of Bellevue; numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Fredrickson. Funeral services for Mr. Fredrickson will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wed., Oct. 1 at the Edison Lutheran Church. FREDRICKSON, Chris, age 83 years, of Zenith, Wash., passed away at a local hospital Friday, Nov. 12, (1953) following a lingering illness. Mr. Fredrickson had resided in Bellingham for 50 years prior to moving to Zenith. He leaves to survive two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Jorgensen and Mrs. Winnie Carey; also one brother, Julius Fredrickson, all in Wisconsin; one cousin, Peter Rogue, of Bellingham, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44, F. & A. M., will conduct ritualistic services, Monday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. within Chapel of Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home. Interment Greenacres Memorial Park.
FREDRICKSON, Fannie, age 72, a resident of 4261 Birch Bay-Lynden Road, Blaine, since 1943, passed away at her home Saturday, October 9, 1982. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Ferndale. Mrs. Fredrickson was born in Cheyenne, Oklahoma February 22, 1910 and moved to Burlington with her parents, Lee & Blanche Archer in 1916. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Fredrickson in 1975. Survivors include 2 daughters, Beverly Sund of Ferndale; Frieda Winroth of Kirkland; 1 son, Harold Fredrickson of Ferndale; 1 step-son Lawrence Brewster of Anacortes; 2 sisters, Myrtle Hamilton and Faye Lecman, both of Burlington; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren. FREDRICKSON, Harold D. "Tuffy" age 47, of 3097 Grandview Road, Ferndale, died May 8, 1990 in Ferndale. He was born March 13, 1943 in Burlington and was a lifetime resident of Whatcom County. He was a member of the Bravo Charlie CB Club of Whatcom County. He worked as a truck driver including hauling logs. Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Ferndale; daughter, Robin Fredrickson of La Conner; son, Steve Fredrickson of Ferndale; step-son, Larry Walton and wife Ruth of Bellingham; step-daughter, Terri Walton and Brian Cox of Ferndale; 5 grandchildren, Levi, Heather, Tyler, Journey and Kayla Walton; 2 sisters, Beverly & husband Leonard Sund of Ferndale, Frieda Kaeo of Lynnwood; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A 61 year resident of Bellingham, Mr. Freeberg was a retired foreman and P.L.I.B. inspector for Bloedel Donovan & Brooks Lumber Companies. He had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 57 years and leaves to survive one son, Enoch W. Jr., of Bellingham; three daughters, Mrs. Joan Zysset of Bellingham, Mrs. Elsa Anderson of Mt. Mr. Freel had resided in this community for the past four years and previously had lived on Orcas Island for over 60 years. Carrie Freeman, 93, 1200 Lincoln St., died Sunday at her home. Mrs. Freeman was born Nov. 20, 1891, in Castle Rock and came to Whatcom County in 1929. She and her husband, Carl, had an 80-acre farm at Birch Bay-Lynden Road and old Highway 99, now Portal Way, and also operated a store there. They moved to Bellingham in 1944. She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include a son, Lewis, of Bellingham; a daughter; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, including Hazel Whipple of Bellingham; and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Hillsdale Cemetery, Blaine, with Rev. Leonard Erickson officiating.

He was born Mar. 7, 1919 in Britton, South Dakota to Fred & Clara Freeman and was a resident of Bellingham since 1939. Mr. Freeman married Geraldine Bundrock on Nov. 12, 1938 in Britton, So. Dakota. He was a past member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #194, Bellingham and owned and operated Freeman welding & Repair for 50 years. Survived by his wife, Geraldine of the family home; 2 daughters, Carol Drafs & husband Wilbur of Burlington and Sandy Nelson of Lynden; 4 grandchildren, Diane Vander Wol of Arlington, Shane Drafs of Soap Lake, Bob Nelson, Jr. & Ken Nelson both of Lynden; 3 brothers, Merle Freeman of Aberdeen S.D., Virgil & Bill Freeman of Bellingham; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. FREEMAN, Donald W. - Funeral services for Donald W. Freeman, a former resident of Blaine, were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 2 at Faull Renton Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan Hughes officiating. Burial was held at 3:30 p.m. in Hillsdale Cemetery in Blaine. Mr. Freeman, age 61, off Renton, passed away Wednesday (January 28, 1987) at Providence Medical Center in Seattle. He was born Nov. 23, 1925, in Blaine. He married his wife, Mary, May 27, 1966, in Renton. Mr. Freeman moved to Seattle in 1960 to work for the Boeing Co. He retired in 1986. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 86 in Blaine. Mr. Freeman was a World War II veteran who served with the U. S. Navy in the South Pacific. He was present in Japan at the signing of the surrender of Japan aboard the battleship Missouri. Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the family home; five sons, Donald M. Freeman and Daniel Freeman of Vancouver, WA, Dennis J. Freeman of Seattle, Jon C. Freeman of Sumner and Dennis Watson of Hoquiam; two daughters, Judith Nelson of Auburn and Janelle James of Kent; five sisters, Lillian Bergman of Renton, Nina Breidford, Oriana Black, Joanne Gorze and Leona Olason, all of Blaine; four brothers, Wilbur Freeman, Willard Freeman, Douglas Freeman, and Lawrence Freeman, all of Blaine; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
FREEMAN, Effie Fern - Memorial services for Effie Fern Freeman will be held on Friday, 10 a.m., Jan. 22, 1988, at United Church of Ferndale. Mrs. Freeman passed away on Dec. 10, 1987, in Magalia, Calif. She was born April 18, 1903 in Springfield, Mo. She had been a Ferndale resident for more than five years prior to moving to California. Survivors include two daughters, Bernice Gibson and husband Earl, Ferndale, and Margaret Newsun and husband Lynn, Magalia, Calif.; three grandsons, Edward Gibson and wife Christine of Bellingham, Richard Beeson and wife Diane, Mission Viejo, Calif., Wesley Beeson and wife Nancy, El Toro, Calif.; eight great-grandchildren, including Rick Gibson and wife Luanne, Bellingham, and Toby Gibson and wife Stephanie, Ferndale; and many relatives in Idaho.

Mrs. Freeman had resided in Bellingham for the past 10 years and was a member of the Epsilon Guild of the Orthopedic, and had attended the Sacred Heart Church. Surviving relatives are three sons, Dr. LeRoy Freeman of Bellingham, Jeri B. Fleming of Mt. Kisko, N.Y. and Martin B. Fleming of White Plains, N.Y.; one daughter, Mrs. Ernest M. FREEMAN, Frank B., age 73, passed away at 1120 1/2 Cornwall Avenue, Thursday, November 3, (1949). Mr. Freeman had been a resident of this community for the past 42 years and was a retired transfer man. Surviving relatives are his widow, Lillian B., at home; three step-sons, Roy Fenton, of Bellingham, Lloyd and Harlan Davis, of Seattle; two step-daughters, Mrs. Lulu Sunback, of Bellingham, and Mrs. Bernice Anderson of Portland, and one brother, Melvin of Sand Point, Idaho. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth, where services will be conducted by the Rev. Daniel E. FREEMAN, John H. - Memorial services for a former Blaine resident, John H. Freeman, 55, were held in Seattle last Thursday. A Seattle resident for the past 33 years, he died Oct. 6, (1975) after a short illness. Mr. Freeman was a member of the Boeing Management Association and the Renton Elks lodge. Besides his widow, Georgene, at home, and two sons (Mark & Jon); two daughters (Johelle James of Reton and Janice Hermann, Selma, Ore.) and 12 grandchildren, Mr. Freeman is survived by his mother, Bena Freeman, of Blaine; six brothers, Wilbur, Willard, Ray, Larry and Douglas, all of Blaine, and Donald of Renton, and five sisters, Lillian Bergman of Renton and Nina Beeidford, Orianna Black, Joanne Gorze and Leona Olason, all of Blaine.
FREEMAN, John K., died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1993, at Kayak Point of accidental drowning. He was 42. There will be a gathering of friends and family for a memorial celebration from 4 to 10 p.m. Tuesday at Bellingham Cruise Terminal. Born Nov. 10, 1951, in Bremerton, he attended school in Mountlake Terrace and Edmonds. He married Michelle Beck in Bellingham on Aug. 24, 1985. An electrician and a partner of Triad Electrical Contractors Inc., Mr. Freeman also was a member of Sunrise Rotary Club and the Sudden Valley Golf Association. He played on a company sponsored baseball team and a city league basketball team, also enjoyed diving. He was diving at Kayak Point with a group from Washington Divers Inc. when the accident occurred. Survivors include his wife of the family home; daughter Breinn Freeman and son Jake Freeman, also of the family home; sister Reeni Freeman of Whidbey Island; brother Rand Freeman of California; father Jack K. FREEMAN, Mitzie A., 60 yrs. old of 3406 Hollywood Ave., Bellingham died Saturday, May 29, (1993) in a Bellingham Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 18, 1933 in Britton, S. Dakota to Lawrence and Eunice Shepard Crossan. She attended high school in Amherst, S. Dakota and Technical school in Bellingham. She has been a local resident since 1951. She was a nursing home dietician and dedicated her life to caring for her patients. She attended Immanuel Bible Church and loved gardening, spending time with her family and many friends and will be remembered for her gentle kind ways and never complaining about anything. On Dec. 29, 1950 in Webster, S. Dakota, she married Virgil F. Freeman, and he survives her at the family home. FREEMAN, Norman H. - Funeral services for Mr. Norman H. Freeman, age 67, of 702 E. Kelly Rd., Bellingham, were conducted on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 1:00 p.m. in Word of Life Church with Rev. Paul Landry officiating. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery. Mr. Freeman, who died in a Bellingham hospital on Wednesday, Feb. 13, (1985) was born in Hamilton, Wash., on March 23, 1917. In 1935 he graduated from Hamilton High School and then later served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. A retired Civil Engineer, Mr. Freeman had been employed by the Washington State Highway Department for 21 years as a bridge inspector and as a soil-lab technician. He was married to Ethel Huston in Mt. Vernon on November 27, 1939 and moved with his family to Whatcom County from Arlington in 1958. He is survived by his wife Ethel; a son, Orland and wife Lynda of Burlington; four daughters, Mrs. Karen and husband Martin Danner of Arlington, Mrs. Patricia and husband Ronald Assink of Lynden, Mrs. Judith and husband Thomas Reed of Bellingham and Mrs. Verna and husband Larry Korslund of Monroe; nineteen grand- and three great-grandchildren; twin sisters, Mrs. Harriette Cathy and Mrs. Hazel Cathy, both of Seattle and a third sister, Mrs. Frances Goad of Lynnwood and numerous nieces and nephews. FREEMAN, Wilbur C. - A memorial service for Wilbur C. "We" Freeman of Blaine will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Free Church Unitarian. Mr. Freeman died Monday, July 7, 1997, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was 82. Born Jan. 19, 1915, to Chris and Bena Freeman in Blaine, he married Reah Bedell on Nov. 27, 1941. Mr. Freeman moved to Seattle in 1941 and worked for the Boeing Co. He moved to Bellingham in 1943. Owner-operator of a mobile home park near Birch Bay, he also worked as a building contractor for many years. He retired in 1974. Mr. Freeman enjoyed singing, traveling and gardening. Survivors include his wife; daughters Patricia Parrish and Terri Hansen; son Bruce Freeman; brothers Lawrence Freeman, Willard Freeman and Doug Freeman; sisters Nina Breidford and Leona Olason; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. FREESE, Bernice - Graveside services for Bernice Freese will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Fraola Cemetery in Port Orchard. A wake will follow services at Olalla Grange Hall, one mile from the cemetery. Mrs. Freese died Monday, Jan. 10, 1994, in East Wenatchee after a nine-year illness. She was 63. Born Aug. 23, 1930, the youngest of nine children of Asa and Jessie Campbell McIvor, she grew up in Park Rapids, Minn. When she was 15, the family moved to Bellingham, where she graduated from Bellingham High School in 1949. She married Kenneth Freese on Oct. 5, 1950, in Bellingham. Mrs. Freese moved to Concrete in 1962 and to Snoqualmie two years later. One of the first five women ever hired by The Weyerhaeuser Co. to work in their plywood production plants, she went to work at the local plant after moving to Snoqualmie and stayed with the company until 1970. After leaving Weyerhaeuser, she traveled extensively throughout the United States, living in many places until she returned to the Pacific Northwest. Survivors include daughters Sharen Fisher of Wenatchee, Kathleen Webber of Danville, Calif., and Susan Smith of Lakeville, Minn.; sisters Enda Grevsted of Port Orchard, Hattie Howard and Jessie Offley, both of Gig Harbor, and Loretta Bekenyi of Ferndale; four granddaughter; and one grandson.

FRENCH, Charles E. - A memorial service for Charles E. French, 74, of 1244 Modoc Drive in Bellingham, a retired aeronautical engineer, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Congregational Church with the Rev. Donel G. McClellan officiating. Mr. French died Thursday (Oct. 11, 1990) at St. Joseph Hospital Main Campus. A musical concert in memory of Mr. French also will be 4 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church. He was born March 19, 1916, in Anoka, Minn., and retired to Bellingham in 1981. He graduated with an aeronautical engineering degree from the University of Minnesota in 1940. He married Mila June Ward on Sept. 21, 1940, in Kansas City, Mo. Mr. French worked for Mid-Continent Airlines for two years and then moved in 1941 to North American Aerospace in Los Angeles where he helped design such airplanes as the P-51 Mustang and the F5A Saberjet. In 1960, he went to work for Martin Aerospace in Denver. He stayed there for 21 years and worked on projects from the Titan III booster to the Voyager project. Mr. French was a member of the First Congregational Church in Bellingham and several professional societies. He also loved music and was an amateur violinist. Survivors include wife Mila French of the family home; son John French of Bellingham; sister Hazel Whitlock of Charlotte, N.C.; a niece and several cousins. Arrangements are by Moles Funeral Home.
FRENCH, Debra Marie - Funeral services for Debra Marie French, 29, of 8565 Custer School Road, who was killed in an accident on Monday, (May 28, 1984) will be held Friday in Surrey, B.C. Born Aug. 17, 1954, in Brandon, Manitoba, she had lived in the Blaine area for five years. She was employed at Tony's restaurant in Blaine, and had been employed at Stafholt nursing home. Wife accidentally killed by husband in truck accidentA 29-year-old Custer woman died Monday when she slipped and fell under a tractor-trailer rig driven by her husband, the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office reported. The woman was identified as Debra French 8565 Custer School Road, the Sheriff's Office reported. The husband was identified as Thomas French, 36. The accident occurred about 6 a.m. in the couple's driveway. According to the Sheriff's Office report, the woman was running to deliver her husband a lunch he had forgotten when she slipped and fell under the truck's wheels. The woman died at the scene. Chief Criminal Deputy Deane Sandell said the woman may have tried to jump on the running board and slipped under the truck. An autopsy was to have been performed this morning. FRENCH, Frances "Minnie" age 82, of 2818 Old Fairhaven Parkway, died Aug. 11, (1988) in Bellingham. Minnie was born in Milverton, Ontario, Canada on July 12, 1906 to Andrew & Frances Buchanan. In 1916 Minnie moved with her family to Lopez Island where she resided until 1973, and at that time Minnie & her husband John French purchased a home & moved to Bellingham. Mr. French passed away in Aug. of 1978. She is survived by 1 daughter, Nelda Sutherland of Kent; 1 grandson, Kevin McKnight of Seattle; 1 granddaughter, Maureen Knopf of Dixie, WA; 2 sisters, Ethel Hansen of Tacoma & Eleanor Asselstine of High River, Alberta, Canada; 1 brother, Gordon Buchanan of Friday Harbor. Funeral services will be Mon. Aug. 15, 9 a.m. at the Westford Chape with Rev. Ron Reddell officiating, with burial to follow at the Valley Cemetery in Friday Harbor. [She m. FRENCH, Frank, aged 77 years, of 1295 Meridian Road, passed away suddenly Friday, December 5, (1958) following an accident. Mr. French was a widower and a retired blacksmith. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Rising Star Lodge No. 79. He is survived by three nephews, Lee, Robert, and Wayne Maxwell, all of Seattle. Funeral services are pending at the Westford Funeral Home.
FRENCH, Irving J., age 88, 1116 E. Victor St., died Jan. 5, 1986, in Bellingham. Born in Charles City, Iowa, on august 23, 1897, he and his wife Marjorie were married in 1927. He served with the Navy SeaBees during World War II. He taught at Bellingham High School from 1945 to 1951. He was a member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Masonic Lodge of Sultan and the Scottish Rite of Bellingham. Survivors include his wife; one son, Delbert French of Seattle; three daughters, Marjorie Sanders of Bellingham, Lois Alexander of Garden City, New York, Irene Clepper of St. Paul, Minnesota; two sisters, Trula Smith of Bellingham, and Vera Ludwig of Aberdeen; 16 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. At his request, there will be no services.
FRENCH, John Leer, of 2821 St. Paul St., B'ham., born May 24, 1900 in Friday Harbor, passed away in B'ham. WA Weds. Aug. 9, 1978. He worked at Navy Shipyard in Bremerton, WA for over 20 years. Retired in 1964 to Friday Harbor, WA due to ill health & moved to B'ham. in 1973. Survivors besides his wife, Minnie at family home, 1 brother, Cornelius French of Wadsworth, Nevada, 1 step-daughter, Nelda Sutherland of Kent, WA, 1 step-granddaughter, Maureen Cross of Walla Walla, WA, 1 step-grandson, Kevin McKnight of Seattle. John was a kind, soft-spoken man respected by all who knew him & known for his quick wit & sense of humour. He will be sadly missed.
FRENCH, Joseph D., who resided at 4417 E. Indiana passed away in a local hospital June 29, (1954) at the age of 83 years following a brief illness. Mr. French was a retired painter and contractor and had resided in Bellingham since 1924. He was a member of the garden Street Methodist Church and was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America. He leaves to survive his wife, Mrs. Hattie French; one son, Irving J. French of Waldron Island; 3 daughters, Mrs. Trula Smith, Bellingham; Mrs. Marie Adams, Everett; Mrs. Vera Ludwig, Seattle; also seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The remains rest at the Bingham, Dahlquist and Jerns Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. Clarence J. Forsberg Thursday, July 1 at 2 p.m. Final resting place Bayview Cemetery.
FREND, George L., 92, of 1530 James St., died Saturday (July 5, 1986). He was born in Ireland Dec. 7, 1893, and had been a Whatcom County resident since 1967. He was a member of the Central Lutheran Church. Survivors include a son, Robert Frend of Delta, B.C.; and two grandsons. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Greenacres Memorial Park.

A Whatcom County resident for the past 8 years, Mrs. Frend was a retired registered nurse and a member of Central Lutheran Church. FRERE, Jules J., age 55, of 3015 Elizabeth St., passed away in a local hospital Thursday, October 27, (1960). A resident of Bellingham for the past 40 years, Mr. Frere was an Estimator for the Haskell Corp; was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 194 and the United Ass'n of Journeymen Plumbers & Pipe Fitters, Local No. 40. Survivors are his widow, Flora M., at home; two sons, Edward A., of Bellingham and J. Terry, of Seattle; two grandchildren; one brother, Vern, of Seattle; numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Dr. W. Carl Calhoun Monday, October 31 at 1:00 p.m. Final resting place Greenacres Memorial Park.
FRERE, Maria B., age 84, of 2207 H St., passed away in a local hospital, Wednesday, April 20, (1960), following an extended illness. Mrs. Frere had resided in Bellingham for the past 40 years. She leaves to survive two sons, Vern of Seattle and Jules of Bellingham; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 22, at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Westford Funeral Home with Dr. W. Carl Calhoun officiating. Interment at Woodlawn.
FRESIA, Duane E., age 41 of Graham, died Sun. Feb. 8, (1981). Born Edgerton, Wyo. (Sept. 23, 1939), attended Mt. Baker High School 1957, Wester Washington University. He was a bank examiner and a Navy veteran. Survivors are 1 son, Brad Fresia and 1 daughter Michelle Fresia, both of Edmonds, and parents Mr. & Mrs. Tony Fresia of Wickersham. Services will be Thurs. 2 p.m. at the acme Presbyterian Church. Interment Saxon Cemetery under the direction of Hill Funeral Home, Puyallup.
FRESIA, Tony, age 67 who resided at 960 Valley Hwy., passed away at his residence Sunday, April 11, 1982. He was a life long area resident and was a WWII Army Veteran serving as an airplane mechanic. He was a member of the Deming American Legion Post. He is survived by his wife Harriett; a sister, Ann Coon of Seattle; 2 grandchildren, Brad Fresia and Michelle Fresia. Funeral services will be held April 15, 1982 at 11 a.m. in Saxon Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Dillard officiating. Service arrangements by the Veroske, Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel.
FRETZ, Howard B., 72, of 776 W. Smith Rd., died Monday (Sept. 15, 1975). A resident of North Bellingham since 1911, Mr. Fretz was a member of North Bellingham Grange. He is survived by his widow, Irene; a son, Charles, at home; a daughter, Alida, of Seattle, and several nieces and nephews. Cremation was held under direction of Moles Funeral Home at Greenacres Memorial Park.
FREUDENBERG, Minnie, age 84 years, of 2323 Park Street, passed away at the family home Thursday, June 19th, (1952). Mrs. Freudenberg had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 7 years, and was a former resident of Lynden. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Emily Elsner of Everson; 4 nephews, Henry Elsner, of Lynden; Carl of Everson; Fred of Seattle, John of Chehalis; 2 nieces, Mrs. Henry Miller and Mrs. Ernest Klander, both of Everson, and many other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 23rd, at 1:30 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home with Ralph Sines officiating. Interment Lynden Cemetery.
FREVERT, Mark Joseph, 10 weeks, grandson of Mary Jane and Joe Levac of Acme, died Oct. 29, (1984) at Mountain View, Calif., of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. His parents are Marilyn and Mike Frevert. Alson surviving is a 2-year-old sister, Michelle. The mother, the former Marilyn Levac is a graduate of Mount Baker High School. Mary Jane Levac brought the ashes here on Monday, and they are to be interred in Saxon Cemetery. The Levac home was destroyed by fire on Oct. 25.
FREY, Billy Burton, age 55, of 5379 Bellwest Dr., Bellingham, passed away Tues., July 8, 1987 (in Carson City, NV). He was born Nov. 11, 1931 in Tennessee, has been a resident of this community for 37 years & was retired from the Bellingham Fire Dept. A member of BPOE No. 194, Elks & The Bellingham Yacht Club. Survivors are his wife, Fern of Bellingham; 3 step-sons, Gary, Ron & Michael York of Bellingham; daughter Sheryl Eggleston of California; step-daughter, Shelly Stockton of Bellingham; brother Joe Frey & sister Ruby Bracey, both of Tennessee; 9 grandchildren. FREY, Ervin Edward, age 71, was born Oct. 5, 1925 in Tuttle, North Dakota to August and Tillie Frey. He attended grade and high school there. After graduation he joined the Merchant Marine in June of 1943. He retired from there in 1946 and joined the Air Force in 1947 and served in the Philippine Islands. After he retired in 1953, Ervin settled in the L.A. area and managed a restaurant in Santa Monica for 25 years. He moved to the Portland area in May of 1981. He married Laura Durnell in May of 1945 and remarried on Feb. 1, 1991. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Laura of the family home; step sons Robert Durnell of Georgia, Barry and Sharron Durnell and Raymond Durnell, all in Minnesota; one brother Paul of The Dalles, OR; three sisters, Helen Knodel, Steele, North Dakota, Lillian Tucker, Hoquiam, WA and Lenora Landenberger, Portland, OR; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; eleven nieces, four nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, 1997 at the Jerns-McKinny Funeral Chapel of Blaine at 1:00 p.m. Military honors will be rendered by the Blaine Post of The American Legion. [d. FREYMAN, Alice, age 82 of 202 E. Holly passed away Monday, April 25, (1966). Mrs. Freyman had resided in Bellingham for the past 12 years and was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. She leaves to survive 1 son, George E., City; 4 grandchildren, John of Seattle, Peter of Port Orchard; Edward and George of South Tahoe, Calif.; 1 great granddaughter, Alicia Rose Freyman of Seattle. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 30 at 7 p.m. in Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.

FREYMAN, George E. of 2818 Old Fairhaven Parkway died Sunday, April 11, 1993. He was 83. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church with the Rev. James Stender officiating. He was born Oct. 3, 1909, in Iman, Siberia. Mr. Freyman lived in China, Latvia, France and Germany, and was a naturalized citizen of the United States. He married Ingrid Deinhardt on June 4, 1932, in Riga, Latvia. The family came to the United States in 1948 and moved to Bellingham in 1953, where Mr. Freyman worked for Pacific American Fisheries. He later became co-owner and operator of Bellingham Travelodge, until his retirement. He founded Cedar Grove Mobile Home Park. Mr. Freyman was a member and past master of P. B. Cornwall Lodge No. 289 F&AM, a member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Northwest Shrine Club, and the Nile Temple in Seattle. He was a member and past president of Fairhaven Lions Club and past president of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Edward Freyman. Survivors include his wife; sons John Freyman, Peter Freyman and George Freyman; and 10 grandchildren.
