ESBENSEN, Ellensen, age 81 of 3107 Eldridge Ave., passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, Aug. 16, (1960). A resident of Bellingham for the past 47 years, Mrs. Esbensen leaves to survive one sister, Mrs. Adolf F. Krabbe and one nephew, H. Mogens Krabbe, both of Bellingham; one niece, Mrs. R. G. Smith, of Bainbridge Island; two nephews, Ivan Krabbe, of Bethlehem, Penn., and Johan Krabbe, of No. Hollywood, Calif. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where private services will be conducted Thursday, Aug. 18, by Pastor E. M. Butenshaw, at 10:30 a.m., followed by cremation.

ESCHBACH, Carl L., age 83, of 5208 Graveline Road, Bellingham, passed away Saturday, February 18, 1984 at his home. He was born December 30, 1900 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He had been a Skagit County resident from 1934 to 1948 and a Santa Rosa, California resident from 1948 to 1952. He had been in the Ferndale area since 1952. He was a member of Calvary Temple in Bellingham. He is survived by his wife Verlyn, of Bellingham; one son, Voy Eschbach and his wife Donna, of Mount Vernon; three daughters, Cortess Pippin, of Renton, Rozella Church and her husband Garland, of Lynden, Iness Scott and her husband Gary, of Bellingham; three sisters, Ruth Melcher of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Etma Sarkess of Clark, South Dakota, Irene Ragels of Ipswich, South Dakota; 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 23 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Moles Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Mayfield, Rev. Dave Pippin and Rev. Ernest Francis officiating. ESCHILMAN, Edna M., age 52 of 2056 Tamarack Place, Ferndale passed away at her home Wed. Apr. 26, 1989. She had been a Whatcom County resident since May of 1973. Prior to that she lived in San Jose, CA, was a member of the Church of Christ of San Jose, CA, & loved traveling & camping. She leaves to survive her husband Gary; son Kevin D. Eschliman of Ferndale; daughter Karen D. Eschliman of Ferndale; mother Lillian D. James of San Jose, CA; brother Leo W. James of Gilroy, CA; numerous other relatives including Mr. & Mrs. M. L. Irwin of Ferndale & Mr. & Mrs. James A. Imhoff of Ferndale & close friends Mr. & Mrs. Charles Brooks of B'ham. Funeral services will be conducted Mon. ESHUIS, Gerrit, age 86, formerly of 9629 Benson Rd., Lynden, passed away Sat. April 3, (1976). Born in Holland, Mr. Eshuis moved to Lynden in 1944. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church. He was married to Marie VanCorbach on Jan. 19, 1914 in Sheldon, Iowa. Mrs. Eshuis died in 1973. He is survived by 5 sons and their wives, Jerry & Alberta, Cornie & Jeanette, Henry and Betty and Herman and Leona all of Lynden and Adolph and Cora in Mt. Vernon, 2 daughters and their husbands, Lloyd & Marie Gross and Clarence & Alice Mellema also of Lynden, 31 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wed. April 7 at 1:30 p.m. in the Second Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Ronald Slater officiating. Interment will follow in the Monumenta Cemetery. ESHUIS, Herman R., 210 Vine Way, Lynden, died at St. Joseph's Hospital Main Campus in Bellingham on Friday, June 3, 1994 at the age of 74. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Dick Vriesman at 2 p.m. today at Second Christian Reformed Church in Lynden. Burial will follow in Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden. Born in Ireton, Iowa on Dec. 6, 1919, Herman was the son of Gerrit and Marie (VanCorbach) Eshuis. In 1939 his family moved to Zilah, Wash., where he was married to Leona Mellema on April 17, 1941. In December 1941 he and Leona moved to the Lynden area, where Herman operated a dairy farm until 1974. He then became employed at Mt. Baker Plywood for 10 years, retiring in 1984. An avid Lynden Lions fan, Herman also enjoyed keeping statistical information on Whatcom County basketball teams and had records dating back to 1956. He is survived by his wife Leona of the family home; four sons, Gary Eshuis and wife Linda of Ferndale, Alvin Eshuis of Lynden, John Eshuis and wife Linda of Lynden and Dean Eshuis of the family home; three daughters, Lois and husband Tony Velthuizen of Everson, Diane "Butch" and husband Bill Fife of Ferndale and Judi and husband Ed Spence of Blaine; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Adolf Eshuis of Mount Vernon and Cornie, Hank and Jerry Eshuis, all of Lynden; and two sisters, Alice Mellema and Marie Goss, both of Lynden. He was preceded by two sons, James in 1963 and Richard in 1979, and daughter Kathy in 1977. Services are under the care of Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.

ESHUIS, Ian Trevor, infant son of Cliff & Michelle Eshuis, 1116 Alabama St., Bellingham, passed away in Childrens Orthopedic Hospital on Fri. April 18, 1980. Besides his parents he is survived by a brother, Jason and a sister Angela at home; grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Eshuis of Lynden and Mr. & Mrs. John G. Ligocki of Nooksack; great-grandmothers, Mrs. John Ligocki Sr. of Nooksack and Mrs. Rosie Duim of Sunnyside; and numerous aunts, uncles & cousins. Services were conducted on Monday April 21, at 1 p.m. in the Nooksack Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden.

ESHUIS, James Clarence, age 19 of Route 1, Ferndale, passed away suddenly Monday February 11, (1963). A lifetime resident of Whatcom County he had attended the Ebenezer & Ferndale Schools. He was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church of Lynden. Surviving are his parents Mr. and Mrs. Herman Eshuis of Route 1, Ferndale, 5 brothers, Gary, Alvin, John, Richard and Dean all at home, 4 sisters, Mrs. Lois Velthuizen of Everson, Diane, July and Kathy all at home, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit Eshuis of Lynden, and Mrs. Sam Mellema of Sibely, Iowa. ESHUIS, Kathleen Rose, age 20 of 1363 E. Badger Rd., Lynden, passed away suddenly Sat. Nov. 28, (1977) from injuries sustained in a traffic accident. Born in Bellingham, Kathleen had been a lifetime resident of Lynden and had attended the Second Christian Reformed Church and a 1975 graduate of Lynden High School. She is survived by her parents, Herman & Leona Eshuis, 5 brothers, Gary of Ferndale, Alvin of Custer, John of Lynden, Richard & Dean, at home; 3 sisters, Mrs. Lois (Tony) Velthuizen of Everson, Mrs. Diane (Bill) Fife of Ferndale and Mrs. Judy McElhaney of Ferndale; her grandmother, Mrs. Minnie M[e]llma, Sibley, Iowa, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & cousins. ESHUIS, Richard A. - Funeral services for Richard A. Eshuis, age 19, of 1363 East Badger Road, Lynden will be conducted on Thursday, May 24, at 1:00 p.m. in the Second Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Andrew Caammenga officiating. Burial will follow in Monumenta Cemetery. Richard, a life time Lynden resident, died suddenly on Sunday, May 20, (1979) in an automobile accident. A 1977 Lynden High School Graduate, he had been employed by Eshuis Roofing for two years and Mt. Baker Plywood for the past six weeks. A member of the Second Christian Reformed Church, he is survived by his parents, Herman & Leona Eshuis of Lynden; four brothers, Gary of Ferndale, John of Lynden, Alvin of Custer and Dean at home; three sisters, Mrs. Lois Velthuizen of Everson, Mrs. Diane Fife of Ferndale and Mrs. Judy Spence of Surrey, British Columbia; his grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Mellema of Sibley, Iowa and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Services are under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home.

ESKEW, Arminta, 80, 1408 I St., died Sunday (May 3, 1959) in a local hospital. Mrs. Eskew had lived in Bellingham 35 years and was a member of the Immanuel Bible Church. A sister, Mrs. Melissa Baker of Leon, Iowa, survives. The Rev. C. C. Hovda will conduct funeral services Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Jones Funeral Home, with burial in Greenacres Memorial Park following.

ESKEW, Charles Lucius, 81 of 1408 I St., passed away in a local hospital Thursday, January 8, (1959). Mr. Eskew had resided in this community for the past 33 years, was a retired custodian of the Bellingham National Bank Bldg., was a member of the Building Services Employes International Union A. F. of L., and was a member of the Immanuel Bible Church. Survivors are the widow, Arminto Evaline at home, numerous nieces and nephews in the East. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. C. C. Hovda Monday, January 12 at 1 p.m. Final resting place Greenacres Memorial Park.

ESPELAND, Gene A. - A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Saxon Cemetery fro Gene A. Espeland, 49, of 1410 G St., who died Sunday (Feb. 4, 1990) at his home after suffering a heart attack. The Rev. Jeff Morrissette will officiate at the service. He was born Oct. 12, 1940, in Bellingham, and had been a life-long resident. He was married to Randee Hansen from 1966 to 1977. They were married in Arlington. Mr. Espeland graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor of arts degree in 1964. He had worked as a purchasing agent since graduation. He had been working for Mt. Baker Plywood for two months. He liked woodcraft and building things. He also loved to ski. Survivors include his parents, Jorgen and Agnes Espeland of Acme, three sons, Kjell Espeland of Acme, Lars and Einr Espeland of Arlington; a brother, Dennis Espeland of Bellingham; and a sister, Ilene Logan of Bellevue. Arrangements are by Jerns and LeVeck Funeral Chapel.

ESPELAND, Hans, age 90 years, of 1952 5th West Street, Seattle, passed away Thursday, April 15, (1953) as a result of an accident. Mr. Espeland is survived by three sons, Harry, of Ketchikan, Alaska, Fred and Vic, of New Westminster, B.C.; two daughters, Ogath Kulman, and Mrs. Agnes Watson, both of Seattle; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The Rev. Clarence Haugen, pastor of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, will officiate at services Monday, April 20, at 2 p.m. within the Chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home. Final resting place, Bay View.

ESPELAND, Jorgen, age 78 of 3506 Nelson Rd., Deming, passed away July 14, 1990, in a Seattle hospital Saturday. He was born October 7, 1911 in Helleland, Norway. Moved to Montana in 1930 & to Bellingham in 1935. He was a member of the Dairy Gold Association. He leaves to survive his wife, Agnes, of the family home. A son, Dennis Espeland, of Bellingham. Daughter Olga Ilene Logan, Bellevue. Three brothers Arne, Johan & Albert Espeland. One sister, Torborg Ness all of Norway. Seven grandchildren, Two great grandchildren & numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 20, 1990 at Saxon Cemetery with Pastor Ken Daugs officiating. Under the directions of Jerns Leveck Funeral Chapel & Crematorium. ESPERSEN, Alexander, age 71 years, of Arlington, Wash., passed away at an Arlington hospital, Thursday, July 28, (1949) after an illness of two weeks. Mr. Espersen was a logger and former resident of the Acme vicinity. He was an attendant of the Full Gospel Church. Surviving relatives include three daughters, Mrs. Anna Smith, Arlington, Mrs. Hannah Nims, Bellingham, and Helga Espersen, Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; five sons, Carl of Waukegana, Ill., John of Washington Island, Wis., Jens of Bellingham; Arthur of Seattle, and Samuel of Arlington; one brother, Martin Espersen, Oakland, Calif.; nine grandchildren; a sister in Denmark. Funeral services will be conducted at the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home, Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Maynard Oss, of Arlington, officiating. Interment in Greenacres Memorial Park.

ESPERSON, Jens, 77, 1401 Roy Road, died at home of cancer Friday, Oct. 2, 1992. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lake Samish Fire Hall. Born May 9, 1915, in Washington Island, Wis., he married Rae Bundy on March 29, 1971, in Seattle. Mr. Esperson lived in Bellingham since 1947. He was a retired logger and operated the first pile driver on Lake Samish at Lake Samish Saw Mill. He was one of the first volunteer firefighters at Lake Samish and belonged to the Silver Run Grange No. 956. His hobbies included fishing and logging. Survivors include brothers Carl Esperson of Waukeegan, Ill., John Esperson of Washington Island, Art Esperson of Seattle and Sam Esperson of Camano Island; sisters Anna Shannon of Pacific, Wash., and Helga Esperson of Seattle; four nieces and six nephews. Arrangements are by Jones-Moles Funeral Home.

ESQUIRO, Marrissa Rae, infant daughter of Randy & Gabrielle Esquiro of (3430 Northwest Ave.) Bellingham, passed away June 28, 1991 at St. Joseph Hospital Main Campus. Marrissa is survived by her parents; grandparents, Gilford & Jean Williams of Springfield, OR; a sister Amanda Esquiro; a brother, Jarred Esquiro; two uncles, Ronny DeWolff of Bellingham & Clifford DeWolff of CA. ESSER, Anna, 77, died Tuesday (1963) in a local hospital after an extended illness. She was a member of the Moose and the Rebekah Lodge. Mrs. Esser is survived by a sister, Mrs. Zoe Chatterton of Portland, and a brother, Clarence Alaway of Bellingham. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Aaron Light Funeral Home. Cremation will follow.

ESSEX, William M., 77, 1509 Victor Street, passed away Wednesday, December 20, (1972). He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. Services were directed by Veroske's Funeral Home.

EST, Donald Simon, 49, of 4935 Forsberg Road, Blaine died Saturday, Jan. 29, 1994 at his residence. He was born March 7, 1944 in Bethel, Minn. to Wendell and Geneieve Est. They moved to Blaine in 1951. He worked on a dairy farm in Sumas. On Nov. 2, 1963 in Bellingham, Donald married Daris Jean Shelly of Lynden. He worked for Henderson Lumber Mill in Sumas and for Washington Grown Chicks. In 1967 he started working for Intalco, which he did until his death. He is survived by his former wife, Daris Est of Ferndale; a son, Dalyne Simon Est of Ferndale; two daughters, Donnetta Jean Est of Birch Bay and Debbie Jonell Henry of Ferndale; his mother, Geneieve Parks of Van Buren, Mo.; two brothers, Victor Leroy Est of Carnation and Ronald Parks of Missouri; five sisters, Patty, MaryAnn, Alice, Kathy and Linda, all of Missouri; three grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. Graveside services will be held at Enterprise Cemetery at 3 p.m. Friday. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, at the Church of Christ, Ferndale. ESTABROOK, Richard "Dan" - A memorial service for Richard "Dan" Estabrook, 33, who disappeared in a swimming accident at Marine Park in June, (1989) will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at the park where he was last seen. Mr. Estabrook is presumed dead. Born on March 15, 1956, in Sacramento, Calf. he was an electrician before an illness forced his retirement. He had lived in Bellingham for eight years and was engaged to be married to Bellingham resident Verna Large at the time of his disappearance. Mr. Estabrook enjoyed the beach at Marine park and attended Hillcrest Chapel in Bellingham. Family members have extended an invitation to all who wish to attend the memorial where family and friends will throw wildflowers in the water at his remembrance. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Estabrook, in 1971. Mr. Estabrook is survived by his daughter, Angela Elizabeth Estabrook of Bend, Ore.; his grandmother, Elizabeth Estabrook; his father, Richard Estabrook; brothers, Jim, Zach, Eddie and Jeff Estabrook; sister Katherine Macias, all of Calif.; and fiancee, Verna Large of Bellingham.

ETEP, John Worth Sr., age 76, of 5950 Aspen Ave., Ferndale, passed away Monday, May 11, 1987 in Ferndale. Born Dec. 18, 1910 in Rockaway Beach, Missouri, he married Nola L. Hammond of Highlandville, Missouri in 1931. He moved to Boise, Idaho in 1935 and worked as a lineman for Idaho Power Co. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Navy from 1943 to 1945 aboard the USS Richmond in the Pacific Theater. He moved to Everett in 1947, served as Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America in Everett and was employed as a lineman with the Snohomish County Public Utilities District and Seattle City Light. He moved to Ferndale in 1955 as an electrician and lineman for the Mobil Refinery. He was a member of the Local No. 77 International Electrical Workers, a member of the Scottish Rite and past Master of both the Bellingham Masonic Lodge No. 151 and the Ferndale Masonic Lodge No. 264 and helped organize the Whatcom County Demolay. He is survived by his wife, Nola E. Estep of Ferndale; two sons, John W. Jr. and wife, Mary E. Estep of Kent, Jack D. and wife, Nancy Estep of Redmond; one daughter, Darlene and husband, Michael Pomeroy of Burlington; one brother, Dale Estep of Port Orchard; one sister, Wilma McConell of Phoenix, Arizona; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 14 in the Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Blades of the Laurel Baptist Church officiating. ESTEP, Nola L., age 81, of Burlington, passed away Mon., Jan. 11, 1993, at home. She was born May 3, 1911, in Highlandville, Missouri, to Isaac and Jessie Henry Hammond where she met John W. Estep, Sr. and they were married in 1931. He preceded her in death in 1987. Mrs. Estep was a 30 year resident of Ferndale and was a member of the Ferndale Senior Center. She was a lifelong homemaker and enjoyed gardening, sewing, and caring for her family. Survived by two sons, John W. Estep, Jr. & wife Mary of Kent, WA, Jack D. Estep & wife Nancy of Redmond, WA; daughter, J. Darlene Pomeroy & husband Michael of Burlington; 2 brothers, Hollis Hammond of Ozark, MO, and Roy Hammond of Wenatchee; 2 sisters, Alta Adams of Wenatchee and Madge Erickson of Everett; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 13 nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Sat., Jan. 16, 1:00 p.m. at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ralph Poulson officiating.

ESTERGREEN, Alma, age 83, passed away at the home of her daughter in Oak Harbor, Monday, February 7, (1949). Mrs. Estergreen was a former resident of Clearbrook, having come to that district in 1891. Surviving relatives include her daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Boyer, of Oak Harbor; two sons, Victor L. Estergreen, of Clearbrook, and Clarence E. Estergreen of Lynden; one brother, Leonard Loreen, of Clearbrook; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 10 at 2 p.m. at the Clearbrook Lutheran Church with Clifton Trued officiating. Interment in Lakeside Cemetery under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden.

ESTERGREEN, Clarence E., age 58, of Route 3, Lynden, passed away suddenly at work Tuesday, Feb. 28, (1961). Mr. Estergreen had been a lifetime resident of the Clearbrook area and had been employed at the Darigold plant in Lynden since 1939. He was a member of the Clearbrook Lutheran Church, the Washington Milk Sanitarians Assoc., and Teamsters Local No. 231. Surviving are his wife, Marie; one son, Dale S. of Seattle; two daughters, Mrs. Eugenia Guckert of Seattle, Mrs. Karen Halldorson of Bellingham; one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Boyer of Oak Harbor, also four grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at the Clearbrook Lutheran Church, Friday, March 3, at 2 p.m., Rev. Carl Muhr officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Cemetery under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home.

ESTERGREEN, Dale S., age 51, of 3663 Birch Terrace Dr., Custer, WA passed away Sat., Sept. 14, (1985). He was born Sept. 26, 1933. He is survived by 2 sisters, Karen Halldorson & husband Charles of Blaine & Eugenia Guckert & husband Henry of Seattle; numerous nieces & nephews. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church. A graduate of Washington State University in 1927, she was a former longtime resident of the Clearbrok area. She was a member of the Luther Memorial Church of Seattle. Surviving are 2 daughters: Eugenia Guckert of Seattle and Karen Halldorson of Blaine; a son: Dale Estergreen of Seattle; 4 sisters: Vesta Clarkson of Ferndale, Alba Suthers of Mt. Vernon, Grace Feuerborn of Reno and Edna Van Wagner of Larimore, N.D.; a brother Earl Hanson of Mt. Vernon; also 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Funeral services will be held in the Clearbrook Lutheran Church, Mon., April 23 at 3 p.m. with The Reverend Eugene Stime officiating. ESTERGREEN, Victor L., age 62 of Rt. 3, Lynden, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, Oct. 8, 1960. Mr. Estergreen had been a lifetime resident of the Clearbrook area and was a member of the Clearbrook Lutheran church, the Darigold Association and at the time of his death was president of the Nooksack Local Farm Bureau. Surviving are his wife Edith; 2 sons, Victor L. Jr., of Salt Lake City, Utah and Gale of Oakland, California; 2 daughters, Mrs. Louise Lindeman of Tacoma and Miss Mary Estergreen of Seattle; 1 brother, Clarence of Clearbrook and one sister, Mrs. Myrtle Boyer of Oak Harbor; 6 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 10 at 1 p.m. in the Clearbrook Lutheran Church with Pastor Carl Muhr officiating. Burial followed in the Lakeside Cemetery under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home.

ESTES, Albert F. Apple, age 74, passed away January 13 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Washington. Al was born in Pueblo, Colorado, on May 30, 1932, to Thelma and Peter Apple. He and his mother moved to California, where he took the name of his stepfather, Ralph Estes. Al is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sheila Estes of Kennewick; eight children, Becky Tucker and husband Dennis of Ferndale, James Estes and wife Eris of Ferndale, Clark Estes and wife KL of Peoria, Arizona, Ronald Estes and wife Juley of Custer, Donald Estes and companion Shannon of Kennewick, Gloria Bezotte and husband Doug of Kennewick, Marilyn Combs of Kennewick and Jennifer Estes of Kennewick. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Al retired in 1986 from Intalco Aluminum Corporation, located in Ferndale, followed by several years of working as a certified nurses aide. Most recently, Al and his wife were employed as managers of the Shadow Mountain Mobile Home Park in Richland. Al entered the Navy at the age of 16, attended school and became a Navy corpsman, serving in Korea and Japan. His love in life spread first to his wife, children and family. Secondly, he had a special fondness for horses, having worked with the Standard-breeds for several years while he was growing up. As Al's health failed, he was in constant pain but still managed to keep his sense of humor. Now his pain is over and the pain is ours as we miss having him in our lives. A private family service will be held at a later time.

ESTES, Agnes A., 78, of 1811 Donovan, passed away at home Monday, Dec. 31, (1956). Mrs. Estes had resided in this community for the past 19 years, and was a member of the Fairhaven Methodist Church. Surviving relatives include one son, Don Raith of this city; two daughters, Mrs. Faith Ness of Ocean City, Wash., and Miss Winona Rath of Bellingham; five grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Freda McKune and Mrs. Alice Allen, both of Winlock, and Mrs. Caroline Gardner of Oak Run, Calif. The remains rest at the Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. Alfred S. Palmer and Rev. Halvor J. Ness Thursday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m. Interment will take place in the family plot at Winlock, Wash., Friday, Jan. 4.

ESTES, Charles Leonard, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil W. Estes, 1414 G St., passed away at the family home Wednesday, August 26, (1953). Besides the parents, he is survived by one sister, Elinor, and one brother, Carl Allan, both at home; the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Elsie Estes, in California, and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Wolfe, of Yakima. Services will be conducted Friday, August 28, at 1 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home. Rev. Edmonds Smith, pastor of the James St. Tabernacle will officiate, followed by cremation.

ESTES, Herman Charles "Bud" of Bellingham died Friday, July 15, 1994, in Bellingham. He was 78. Private family memorial services will be held. Born Dec. 29, 1915, to Charles and Julia Estes in White Salmon, he lived in Bellingham for four years. Mr. Estes was an attorney for the U.S. Air Force for 25 years and had a private law practice for 12 years in Lakewood, near Tacoma. He was a member of the Lakewood Rotary Club. His wife, Alice, preceded him in death in August 1971. They were married in 1937. Survivors include daughters Ahnie McHugh of Bellingham and Elizabeth Shepp of New York City, and one grandson. Arrangements are by Jones-Moles Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

ESTES, Hilma S., 3302 Alderwood Ave., age 58, passed away Friday, Nov. 20th, (1970). A life resident, Mrs. Estes attended the Zion Lutheran Church. Surviving are her husband, Lyle W.; a daughter, Mrs. Lyle Barstad, Ferndale; 1 grandchild; 5 sisters, Mrs. Selma Severson; Mrs. Marie Finney; Mrs. Eloise Johnson; Mrs. Emmy Leathea, all residing in this City, and Mrs. Frances Kosbab of Sedro Woolley. Services will be conducted by Rev. Leonard Ericksen Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 1:00 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home, followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.

ESTES, Lola C., 81, Route 3 Sedro Woolley, died at the United General Hospital Saturday, (April 26,1975). Mrs. Estes was a member of the Day Creek Free Methodist Church and had been a resident of Sedro Woolley since 1948. Survivors include four daughters, Doris Mills of Kingston, Mildred Wiggins of Burlington, Frankie Lowerman of Tacoma, and Becky Morgan of Everett; four sons, Clyde of Lyman, Harry and Wayne of Sedro Woolley, and Robert of California; 17 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several brothers and sisters. Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lemley Chapel.

ESTES, Lyle Wilbur, age 82, of 1200 Lincoln St., Bellingham, passed away Sunday, May 31, 1992. Born June 27, 1909 in Ferndale, WA to Wilbur and Augusta Estes, he was a lifetime resident of Whatcom County; employed by Brooks Lumber Company in Bellingham for 30 years as a planer operator; life member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, he also farmed in the Custer area for 30 years. Preceded in death by his first wife, Hilda Strand Estes, in 1970. World Ward II veteran, U.S. Navy; enjoyed camping and fishing. Survived by his wife Ada Estes, whom he married August 26, 1971; daughter, Lila and husband Samuel Arnold, of Bellingham; two sisters, Iris Handy of Everson, Joyce Ross of Seattle; two step-daughters, Margie Vance and Maxine Wilson, both of Bellingham; 4 grandchildren, Matthew Haddox, Scott Peterson, Brian Peterson, Susan Langie, all of Bellingham; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Graveside service Thursday, June 4, 1:00 p.m. Woodlawn Cemetery with Pastor Leonard C. Ericksen, Central Lutheran Church, officiating. Visitation Wednesday, June 3 and Thursday, June 4, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 8:30 to Noon Thursday, June 4 at Jones-Moles Funeral Home.

ESTES, Mary L., age 86 years, passed away at the family home,, 2034 James street, Saturday, December 1, (1945) after an illness of two weeks duration. Mrs. Estes had been a resident of Washington for the past fifty-six years and was a member of the Broadway United Presbyterian Church, Women's Relief Corps of J. B. Steadman Post No. 31. Aside from a host of friends who will mourn her passing, she leaves to survive her, one son, William H. Zimmer, Route 3, Bellingham; three brothers, Louis, John and Alfonso Grubl, of Sturgis, South Dakota; one sister, Rose Handlin, of Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews. The remains are resting at the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home, where services will be held Thursday afternoon, December 6, at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Leo Totten, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, Spokane, Washington, officiating, assisted by Rev. Earl L. Fritz, pastor of the Birchwood Community Church. Interment will be made in Bay View Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Mr. Carl McCoy, Mr. Adam Walker, Mr. Frank Strom, Mr. William Landaal and Mr. C. L. Eskew. Honorar bearers will be taken from the Ladies' Relief Corps.

ESTEY, Fred I., age 90, of 1564 Meridian Rd., passed away at home, Thursday, June 1, (1961). A 65-year resident of Whatcom County, Mr. Estey was a retired millwright, having been employed by the E. K. Wood Mill for over 50 years. He was a member of Whatcom Lodge No. 151, F.&A.M.; Scottish Rites Bodies; Nile Temple of the Shrine; Seahome (sic) Chapter No. 17, O.E.S. Survivors are two nephews, Earl V. Peel, and Louis R. Peel, both of Bellingham. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. Don Kaelin and officers of Whatcom Lodge No. 151 Monday, June 5 at 1:00 p.m. Final resting place Bay View Cemetery.

ESTEY, Sarah Ella, age 81, passed away at the family home, 1564 Meridian St., Saturday, Feb. 23, (1957). Mrs. Esty had been a resident of this community for the past 60 years and had attended the Episcopal Church; was a 50-year member of Sehome Chapter No. 17, O.E.S., and was a member of the Daughters of the Nile Temple of the Shrine. Surviving relatives are her husband, Fred T., at home; one sister, Mrs. Ada Bolling in Oregon; three brothers, Jack Peel of Sacramento, Calif.; Kenneth V. Peel of Topenish, Wash., and Ed Soule of Myrtle Point, Ore., also two nephews, Earl V. Peel and Louis R. Peel, both of Bellingham. The remains rest at Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home, where services will be conducted by the Rev. Fr. W. Robert Webb and officers of Sehome Chapter No. 17, O.E.S., Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 10:30 a.m. Cremation.

ESTIE, Evertje - Graveside services for Everetje Estie, age 93, who died in Lynden on Tuesday, Jan. 14, (1986) were conducted on Thursday, Jan. 16, at 3 p.m. at Monumenta Cemetery, with the Rev. Carl Leep officiating. Mrs. Estie is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Arendin (William) Nyland of Lynden; three sons, John and wife Twyla Estie of Morrow Bay, Calif., Garrit and wife Vivian Estie of San Francisco, Calif., and Joe and wife Mary Estie of Hemet, Calif.; one brother in Georgia, a brother and sister in Holland; seven grandchildren [including Jeri Tjoelker, of Everson] and 20 great-grandchildren. Services were under the direction of Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden. [b. May 31, 1892, in Holland, and moved to the Lynden area from Everett in 1976. Her husband, H. A. Estie, died earlier.]

ESTIGOY, Donna Ann, age 26, of 3215 Northwest Ave., passed away Tues., Sept. 20, (1977). Her remains will be forwarded to the Saskatoon Funeral Home, Saskatchewan for funeral services and burial. Arrangements by Veroske's Bellingham Chapel.

ESTRADA, Gobelay R., an agricultural worker who enjoyed lake fishing, crabbing and basketball, died Monday (July 25, 1988) in an auto accident at King Tut and Old Guide Road. Estrada, 28, 6246 Old Guide Road, was born May 15, 1960, in Aputzio de Juarez Michuacan, Mexico. He married Mary Lou Villesca eight years ago in Mount Vernon. Survivors include his wife of the family home; six daughters, Beronica, Jessica, Amanda, Amalia, Yuria and Yuriria, all of the family home; five brothers, Ydar, Alvae and Wilbur of Whatcom County and two others in Mexico; and two sisters in Mexico. His remains will be shipped to Mexico for funeral services. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel.

ESTRADA, Marcus Larsen, 26 of 2501 N. E. 115th St., Seattle, passed away June 14, 1991 in Seattle. He was born May 23, 1965 in Los Angeles, Ca. and was a former resident of Ferndale. He was a 1984 graduate of Ferndale High School; was a veteran of the U. S. Army; enjoyed biking, skiing, camping and traveling. Survivors: Mother Dora Larsen, Bellingham; Sisters: Elsie Vermeulen and Julie Larsen, Bellingham; and Jan Burbank, Ferndale; Grandmother, Angela Carroll, Bellingham; Paternal Aunt Carol Hermes and husband Monroe of AZ; Maternal Aunt Lea Conrad and husband Harvey of Poulsbo, WA; Maternal Uncles Ronald and wife Nidia Estrada and Rene and wife Adilia Estrada of Los Angeles; Cousins Eric, Mark, Steven, Bill Jr., "Uncle Bill" Ahrens, Angela, Rene Jr., Ronald Jr., Leticia Estrada, Liz, Kathy, Lisa Hermes and numerous relatives in Florida, and paternal grandparents of Nicaragua. He was preceded in death by his father Lars Larsen. Marcus will be greatly missed by the family that loves him. ETHRIDGE, Larry Allen - Graveside funeral services for Mr. Larry A.. Ethridge, age 43, who died suddenly from injuries sustained in an accident involving a pea viner in Skagit County on Monday, August 12, (1985) will be conducted Thursday, August 15, at 1 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery on E. Wiser Lake Rd., Lynden, with Rev. John Leaf officiating. Mr. Ethridge, 814 N. 8th St., Lynden, was born in Bellingham on Feb. 12, 1942, and had been employed by Shuksan Frozen Foods for the past four years. A graduate of Mt. Baker High School, he served in the U. S. Army and was married to Donna Ecklor in Everson on Sept. 24, 1966. He is survived by his wife, Donna; his mother, Mrs. Violet and husband Zygmut Piotrowski of Lynden; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Iva Ecklor of Lynden; 10 brothers, Billy of Long Beach, Cal., Jerry of Buckley, Dale and wife Ruth of Bellingham, James of Mabton, Teddy, Howard of Bellingham, Tommy of Australia, Ricky of Buckley, Wayne and wife Cora of Imperial Beach, Cal., and Arthur of Kent; numerous nieces and nephews and brothers- and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his sister, Laverna June, and his father, Vernon.

ETHRIDGE, Vernon S., age 58 of 1402 Forest, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, (1966). Mr. Ethridge had resided in Bellingham for the past 39 years and was a retired coal miner. He leaves to survive his wife, Mrs. Lucille A. of the family home, 10 sons, Vernon Jr. of Memphis, Tenn., Jerry and Rickey both of Buckley, Jim of Oregon, Wayne of the U.S. Navy, Thomas of Santa Anna (sic), Theodore, U.S. Army, Arthur of Seattle, Larry of Everson, Howard of Yakima, 2 stepdaughters, Mrs. Viola Jenkins of Clelam (sic), Mrs. Charlott Clark of Torrance, Calif., 26 grandchildren, 3 sisters in Illinois. Funeral services are pending at the Westford Funeral Home.

ETIENNE, Emma S., 55, of 714 H St., Blaine, died July 27, (1985) in Bellingham. She was born Feb. 3, 1930, in British Columbia and was a member of the Deadman's Creek Indian Band, Thompson River District, Kamloops, B. C. She had been a Blaine resident for three months. She is survived by two sons, Sandy Etienne of Blaine and Duane Etienne of Spain; a daughter, Elizabeth Etienne of Canada; and a sister, Sally Conway of Blaine. A Christian prayer service was held at 2 p.m., July 31, at Jerns & McKinney Chapel in Blaine, Father Jack Buckalew officiating. The remains were transported to Kamloops, B.C. for burial. Local arrangements by Jerns & McKinney Funeral Home.

EUGENIO, Domingo Eugenio - Funeral services for Domingo Eugenio, 85, 2584 Suchanon Road, Everson, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Jerns-LeVeck Funeral Chapel. Mr. Eugenio died Thursday (July 18, 1985). He was born May 10, 1900, in the Philippine Islands and was a Philippine citizen his entire life. He moved to Seattle in 1929 and worked in the restaurant business. He came to Everson a year ago. Mr. Eugenio is survived by three sons, including Robert Rabang of Everson; two daughters; 25 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation is until 8 tonight.

EUSTIS, Anthony, 68, died in a car accident, Friday, January 26 in Reno, Nevada. Anthony was born in Aiken, South Carolina on February 7, 1938 where he graduated from high school and went on to serve four years in the navy. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, George and Louise Eustis, and by his sister Celestine Eustis. Anthony is survived by his ex-wife Sandra Eustis of Bellingham; son Michael Eustis of Reno; daughter Frances Jones of Bellingham; grandchildren Paul, Krisann, Madison, and Seamus; cousin Ginny, nephews and nieces: Edward, Anthony, Jennifer, Laura, Susan, George, John, Robert, Tracey and Lisa, and numerous life long friends including best friends Marty and Mike Flatley. A Celebration of his Life will be held in Reno, Nevada, April 28, 2007. He was a gentle, compassionate man and a beloved father and grandfather whose favorite activities included attending his grandchildren's sporting events and hiking and camping with his dog, Celty.
