ERB, Carl M., age 83, 2396 Chuckanut Shore Road, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, August 18, (1963). Dr. Erb was a fifty-eight year resident of Bellingham, where he was a member of the Garden Street Methodist Church; the American Medical Assn.; Whatcom County Medical Assn.; Washington Medical Assn. Past Master and fifty-year member of Whatcom Lodge No. 151, F. & A.M.; Scottish Rite Bodies; also fifty-year member of Sehome Chapter No. 17; Life member and first commodore of the Bellingham Yacht Club and a member of the Lions Club. Survivors are his widow, Mable E., at home; one son, Carl M. Erb, Jr., Seattle; one daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Tank, Bellevue; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Roy Lutz of this city. The remains will lie in state at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. Joe Walker Wednesday, August 21, at 3 p.m., followed by graveside services conducted by members of O.E.S. Surviving relatives include his wife, Nancy; two daughters, Mrs. Andrew Windon, and Mrs. Mace McGregory; three grandchildren; four step-daughters, Mrs. Anna Martin, Mrs. Minnie Nicholson, Mrs. Mary Raash and Mrs. Ella Nugent; a stepson, James Gault. Funeral services will be conducted within the chapel of the Gillies Funeral Home in Sumas, Wednesday, August 23, at 2 p.m. Final resting place, Nooksack Cemetery.
ERB, Etta B., age 77, of 616 E. Holly Street, passed away in a local hospital, Tuesday, November 16, (1948). Mrs. Erb had been a resident of this community for the past twelve years and for thirty years prior to coming here had farmed on Lopez Island. Deceased was a member of the Garden Street Methodist Church and leaves to survive two sons, Henry, of Ferndale, and Roy H., of Ketchikan; two daughters, Mrs. Viva A. Ormiston, of Clear Lake, and Miss Mary A. Erb, of Big Lake; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clay Brothers and Alvie Brothers, both of Green Castle, Ind. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. W. W. Goodrow, of Sedro-Woolley, Friday, November 19, at 3 p.m. Final resting place, Greenacres Memorial Park.
ERB, Henry of 2027 Washington St., Ferndale, died at home Saturday, Feb. 19, 1994. He was 92. At his request, no services will be held. He was born Dec. 29, 1901, in Washburn, Mo., to Albert and Etta Erb of Lopez Island. He married Lavinia McCauley on July 1, 1931, on Lopez Island. Mr. Erb farmed his own farms in Whatcom County for 40 years and delivered milk during that time. For a few years in the 1930s, he was a marine engineer in Alaskan waters. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Erb, in 1992, and a great-granddaughter, Mandy Kortus, in 1985. Survivors include his wife of the family home; daughter Myrna Brandt of Ferndale; grandsons Duane Erb of Ferndale and John Brandt of Longview; granddaughters Debra Green of Blaine, Jana Kortus of Lynden, Joanne Erb of Denver and Janell Lyddan of Bellingham; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
ERB, Jacob, age 82, of 117 Prospect St., passed away in a local hospital Friday, Dec. 19, (1952). Mr. Erb had resided in this community for over 60 years and had previously been the operator of a Shingle Mill at Maple Falls. Surviving relatives include one sister, Mrs. Anna Dawson in California; three nieces, Mrs. Mae McGregor and Mrs. William Martin, both of Bellingham; two nieces, Miss Dorothy B. Dawson, of Stockton, Calif., and Miss Martha Covington, of Seattle; two grand-nieces and one grand-nephew. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth, where services will be conducted by the Rev. Norman B. Harrison, Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 10 a.m.
ERB, Mable E., age 73, 2326 Victor Street, passed away Sunday, Feb. 6th, (1966). A lifetime resident of this city, Mrs. Erb was the widow of the late Dr. Carl M. Erb, who preceded her in death in 1963. She was a member of the Garden Street Methodist Church. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. William Tank of Bellevue; a son, Carl M. Erb, Jr. of Seattle; three grandchildren; two brothers, Rueben McCombs, Anchorage, Alaska; Allen McCombs of Sumas; nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 3:00 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park.
ERB, Nancy, 84 years of Maple Falls, passed away in a local hospital Friday, Nov. 19, (1954) following a short illness. Mrs. Erb had been a resident of the Maple Falls district for the past 46 years. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Otto Raasch of Los Angeles, Mrs. Ellen Nugent of Maple Falls, and Mrs. Minnie Nicholson of Hope, B.C.; one son, James Gault of Keasey, Oregon; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Audrey Windon of Maple Falls, Mrs. Maye McGregor of Bellingham; two sisters, Mrs. George Segel and Mrs. Missouria Lovalle, both of Kelso, Wash.; two brothers, Charles Sleasman of Sumas, and Samuel Sleasman of Langley, B.C.; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home in Sumas with the Rev. Earl Crouse officiating. Interment, Nooksack Cemetery.
ERB, William Donald - Ferndale resident William Donald "Don" Erb died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1992, at his home. He was 60. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Ferndale with the Rev. Joanne Pearson officiating. Mr. Erb was born May 18, 1932, on Lopez Island to William and Lavinia Erb. A graduate of Ferndale High School, he married Luella Zwicker on March 12, 1955. Mr. Erb owned and operated Pleasant Valley Store for 19 years and was a meat cutter for Pleasant Valley Meats in Ferndale for 18 years. Survivors include his wife of the family home; parents Henry and Lavinia Erb of Ferndale; son Duane Erb of Ferndale; daughters Debra Green of Blaine and Joanne Erb of Baltimore; sister Myrna Brandt of Ferndale; and four grandchildren. ERCHINGER, Karl H., age 61, of 1213 E. Sunset passed away in a Seattle Hospital Friday, March 1, (1963). A 51 year resident of Bellingham, Mr. Erchinger was owner and operator of Karl's Service Station and was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church. Survivors are his widow, Bertha at home; one son, Karl H., Jr. of Balboa, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Gillman of Santa Anna, Calif.; five grandchildren; five brothers, Chris, William and Adolph all of Bellingham, Fred of Everett and John of Burlington; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Grimmer of National City, Calif., Mrs. Lydia Brash of Monrovia, Calif., Mrs. Rose Sandstrom of Bellingham and Mrs. Emma Hough of Seattle; numerous nieces and nephews. ERCHINGER, Lorna M., 51, of 4440 Sucia Drive, Ferndale, passed away Sept. 3, (1994) at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. She was born Jan. 31, 1943 in Shelton, WA to George and Vivian Wolf and has been a resident of Whatcom Co. since 1964. Mrs. Erchinger was employed as a secretary for several Whatcom County firms. Most recently was a real estate agent in the county. She enjoyed outdoor activities such as skiing and hiking. She was very will liked by all who knew her. Survivors: husband, Karl H. Erchinger of the family home. They married in Quilcene, WA Aug. 10, 1965. Two sons, Bret and wife Kimberly Erchinger of Bellingham, Brian Erchinger of Mukilteo, WA; parents, George and Vivian Wolf of Oak Harbor, WA; sister, Lois Wolf of Edmonds, WA; grandchildren, Brianna and Reichle Erchinger of Bellingham. ERCHINGER, Ruth G., age 69 passed away in Moses Lake, Mon. Jan. 21, 1980. ERCHINGER, William, 92, of 4379 Guide Meridian died Sunday (May 25, 1986) in Bellingham. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Greenacres Memorial Park. Mr. Erchinger, a former roofer and construction worker, was born on Jan. 20, 1894, in East Grand Forks, Minn. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. He is survived by one brother, A. J. Erchinger of Bellingham; two sisters, Mary Grimmer of Port Angeles and Lydia Hale of Glendale, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home.
ERDAHL, Annie, age 69, of 1326 LaBounty Road, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, July 10, (1952). Mrs. Erdahl had been a resident of the Ferndale district for the past 13 years and was a member of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church. Surviving are her husband, B. L. Erdahl; four daughters, Mrs. John Kluken, of Rt. 2, Ferndale; Inez Erdahl, Mrs. Leroy Njaa, and Francis (sic) Erdahl, all of Bellingham; six sons, Luren, of Sedro Woolley, Otis, of Malta, Montana, Bert, of Ferndale, Maynard, Gene and William, all of Bellingham; her mother, Mrs. Mary Quame, of Frost, Minn.; 22 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, and three sisters, all of Minnesota. ERDAHL, Berent Ludvek, age 77 of Rt. 2, Ferndale, passed away Saturday, May 12, (1956) in a local hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Erdahl had been a resident of the Ferndale and Custer Communities for the past 16 years. He was a member of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church of Ferndale. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. John Kluken of Ferndale, Miss Inez Erdahl, Miss Frances Erdahl, both of Ketchikan, Alaska, Mrs. LeRoy Njaa of Fergus Falls, Minn.; six sons, Luren of Sedro Woolley, Otis of Malta, Montana, Bert, Gene, Maynard and William, all of Ferndale; 31 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren. ERDAHL, Clarice Louise, 58, a former Whatcom County resident, died March 21, (1985) in Portland, Ore. Mrs. Erdahl, who was born in North Dakota, lived in the Ferndale area for a number of years before moving to Portland in 1956. She is survived by her husband, William; two sons; a daughter; six grandchildren; her mother, Clara Paulsen of Bellingham; three sisters, Gertie Erdahl and Donna Larsen of Bellingham and Ann Fleming of Blaine; and six brothers, Thelmer, Albert, Bennie and Allen Larsen of Bellingham, Adolph Larsen of Custer and Frank Larsen of Everson.
ERDMAN, Clara A., age 91 of 2825 Cedarwood, passed away Feb. 14, (1975). Mrs. Erdman was born in Rochester, Minn., was the oldest member of Trinity Lutheran Church, moved from North Dakota to Whatcom County in 1928. Survivors include 1 son, Clarence; 2 granddaughters, Mrs. Claretta Beckmeyer of Snohomish and Mrs. Helen Jule Granger of Bellingham and 7 great-grandchildren. ERDMAN, Helena, 87, of Bellingham passed away Monday, June 21, 1993 at home. She was born March 16, 1906 in Racine, Wis. to Adolf and Julianne Ziert Winter. Mrs. Erdman graduated from Bellingham Normal School in 1927 and taught in public schools in Winlock and Stanwood. She married Clarence Erdman on June 8, 1930, in Winlock and they moved to Whatcom County, where they have resided on their farm for 63 years. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bellingham for 50 years and was also a choir director. She was a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bellingham. She and her husband received many outstanding awards for farming and related activities. Mrs. Erdman was especially active in 4-H leadership and community garden clubs. She is survived by her husband, Clarence of the family home; two daughters, Claretta Joy Beckmeyer and husband Ted of Snohomish and Helen Jule Granger and husband Roger of Bellingham; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be today until 8 p.m. and 9 a.m. - noon Thursday at Greenacres Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Greenacres Memorial Park. A memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Richard Husman and Rev. Carl O. Fischer. ERDMANN, Gerald J. - A memorial service for Gerald J. Erdmann of Lynden will be held at 1 p.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lynden. Mr. Erdmann died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at his home. He was 60. Born May 26, 1939, to Ted and Georgia Erdmann in Bouls, N.D., he was a Lynden High School graduate and had been a Lynden resident for 23 years. Mr. Erdmann served in the U.S. Navy until his retirement in 1977. Mr. Erdmann was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Fleet Reserve and Bellingham Elks. Survivors include his wife, Theodora, of the family home sons "TJ" and Christopher Erdmann, both of Lynden, John Erdmann of Seattle and Joel Erdmann of Boise, Idaho mother Georgia A. Fincher of Port Angeles father of Lynden sister Ilene Sherrad of Lynden and brothers Steve, Kevin and Scott Erdmann, all of Lynden, and John Erdmann of Port Angeles. EREMICH, John V., age 61 of 3941 Hillside Rd., Deming, passed away Thurs., March 30, 1978. Mr. Eremich was a 19 yr. resident of Whatcom County, a retired administrator, United States Air Force, member of the Duplicate Bridge Club. ERGA, Lillian Amble of Marysville, passed away August 16, 1991 after an extended illness. Mrs. Erga was born on August 25, 1929 in Bellingham and graduated from Bellingham High School, Class of 1947. Lillian married Magne Erga on May 9, 1953. She was a resident of Marysville for over 25 years. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and a member of the Sons of Norway in Everett, WA. She leaves behind her beloved husband Magne at the family home; a son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Susan Erga of Honolulu, Hawaii; a son Brian Erga of Marysville; two grandchildren, Michael and Jennifer; her father Olaf Amble of Marysville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law including Edith and Hank Carlquist of Everett, Lillian & Bill Miller of Bellingham, Joe & Carol Erga of Snohomish, and Kaare Erga of Seattle; her mother-in-law Martha Erga of Everett; cousins in N. Dakota and Minnesota; also numerous family members in Norway who she visited several times, as she was very proud of her Norwegian heritage. ERGA, Magnus, 85, of Everett, formerly of Bellingham, died Oct. 12, (1990) in Seattle. He was born August 20, 1905 in Klepp, Norway and has been a resident of the Everett, Stanwood area since 1952. He was a member of Sons of Norway Normanna Lodge No. 3. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha of the family home; sons & daughters-in-law Magne & Lillian Erga of Marysville, Joe & Carol Erga of Snohomish; son Kaare Erga of Seattel; daughters & sons-in-law Edith and Hank Carlquist of Everett, Lillian & Bill Miller of Bellingham; sister Ragna Tjosevik of Norway; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Mr. Ergler resided in Bellingham his entire lifetime and for many years was employed with the Georgia Pacific Plywood Co. Surviving relatives include one son, Ronald Ergler at the family home; one daughter, Mrs. Arla Lynch of Spokane; three brothers, Joseph of Bellingham; and John and Lewis of Wenatchee; five sisters, Mrs. Betty Smith, Mrs. Lottie Spore, Mrs. Mary Faulkner, all of Bellingham, and Mrs. Martha Button of Everett, Mrs. Dorthy (sic) Leik of Rock Island, Wash.; one step-son, Elvin C. ERGLER, Earl, age 52 years, who resided in Seattle for the past 30 years, died as a result of a heart attack on Saturday, Jan. 5, (1957). ERGLER, Eldora M., age 39, of 1600 Iowa, passed away at a local hospital Thursday August 19, (1954) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Ergler was a lifetime resident of Bellingham. She is survived by her husband, Arthur; two sons, Elvin and Ronald, both of home; two daughters, Mrs. Margie Landreth of Los Angeles and Arla of the home; one granddaughter; one brother, Elmer Biggerstaff of this city; grandfather, George H. ERGLER, John F., age 82 of Route 3, Ferndale, passed away Wednesday, June 30, (1965) in a local rest home. Mr. Ergler had been a resident of the Ferndale community for 28 years and was a member of the Gulf Grange. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Josephine McIlroy; 3 nieces and 3 nephews; numerous other relatives. Funeral services will be held in Moles Funeral Home Tuesday, July 6, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. ERGLER, Joseph U., age 65 years, who resided at 1509 E. Victor, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 11, (1959) following an extended illness. Mr. Ergler was a lifetime resident of Bellingham, a member of the Teamsters Union No. 231, of Bellingham, and a World War I veteran. He leaves to survive, two brothers, Louis of Seattle and John of Wenatchee; also five sisters, Mrs. Betty Smith, Mrs. Lottie Spore and Mrs. Mary Faulkner, all of the city; Mrs. Martha Button of Everett, and Mrs. Dorothy Leik of Rock Island, Wash.; also numerous nieces and nephews. ERHARDT, Francis J. - A Mass of Christian Burial for Francis J. Erhardt of Seattle will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Alphonsus Church in Seattle. Burial will follow in Holy Rood Cemetery in Seattle. Mr. Erhardt, 74, died Dec. 8, 1991, in Indianapolis, Ind. A career U.S. Army officer, he served from 1941 through 1962 and retired as a lieutenant colonel. He then joined the administrative staff of King County Juvenile Court. Mr. Erhardt married Marjorie Boettcher in 1945 in St. Louis, Mo. She died in 1987. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Church Altar Society, and had been a member of the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his sons, Dr. James B. Erhardt of Bellingham, Richard Erhardt of Indianapolis, and Douglas Erhardt of Seattle; daughter Carol Erhardt of Omaha, Neb.; and nine grandchildren.
ERHO, Floyd Edwin - Funeral services for Floyd Edwin Erho,age 62 of 2837 W. Maplewood Ave., will be Monday, June 18th at 3:00 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Mr. Erho was born in Sumas, WA and had moved back to Whatcom Country (sic) in 1982 from Calif. He was a member of the Eagles and had been formerly with Warner Brothers Studio as an art set director. He is survived by his wife, Katherine; 3 daughters, Yvonne McCormick of Sacramento, LoWanna Erho of Dunsmuir, Calif., Shelly Erho of Santa Cruz, Calif.; 1 son David Erho of Seattle; 3 grandchildren, Adam, Jessie and Destiny; 1 brother, Alvin Erho of Seattle; 8 step-children, Raymond, Joseph, Rosemarie and Josephine Baldhosky, all of Calif. and Janice and Coral Taylor of Queensland, Australia. ERHO, Mike, age 58, of 716 1/2 East Holly Street, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, October 12, (1952). Mr Erho had resided here for the past 14 years and had operated the Summit Barber Shop here. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 31, and Bellingham Lodge No. 194, B.P.O. Elks. Surviving relatives include two half-sisters, Mrs. Mary Stearns, of Seattle, and Mrs. Anna Hadden, of Sitka, Alaska; two half-brothers, Paul Erho, of Lindell, British Columbia, and John Erho. ERHOLM, Charles R. of Bellingham died of cancer at home Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997. He was 56. A private service will be held. Born June 6, 1941, to Casper and Emily Erholm in Bellingham he was a lifelong Whatcom County resident. Mr. Erholm worked as a shipwright for 20 years, most recently with Helipro Crop. International. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and woodworking. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Jacqueline Erholm Bradley Hedtkamp of Texas; sons Bradley Erholm, Don Erholm and Marvin Youn, all of Bellingham, Reuben Erholm of Texas, Eric Erholm of California, Sath Erholm of Tacoma and William Erholm of Montana; daughters Karel Bulger of Ferndale, Kelli Erholm of Bellingham, Rachelle Erholm and Sahra Erholm, both of Texas, and Elise Erholm of Tacoma; brother Warren Erholm of Anacortes; sister Evelyn William of Bellingham; numerous grandchildren; and other relatives.
ERHOLM, Else, age 78 years, of 1450 Humboldt Street, passed away at a local hospital Saturday morning, August 25, (1945). Mrs. Erholm was owner of the Pacific Steam Laundry, and had been a resident of this community for the past 53 years, and was a member of the American Central Lutheran Church. Immediate surviving relatives include one son, Casper Erholm, of Geneva; two daughters, Mrs. Thelma Rose, of Bellingham, and Mrs. Geneva Pickering of Seattle; five grandchildren, Warren E. Morrison, of the U.S. army air corps, located in Florida, Evelyn and Charles R. Erholm, of Bellingham, Lynn and Gail Pickering, of Seattle. ERICKSEN, Craig Edward, age 16, of 504 Fieldstone Road, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, (1962). Craig had resided in this community for the past year; was a student at Bellingham High School, a member of Central Lutheran Church and a member of Sea Scout Post No. 21. Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ericksen, city; two sisters, Susan and Sally, at home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Hutchins, Hillsboro, Ore., and many aunts and uncles. ERICSON, Charles T., age 84, of Lynden, passed away at a local hospital Wednesday, December 17, following a lingering illness. Mr. Ericson came to Bellingham in 1893 and since that time has resided in Bellingham and in Lynden. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church of Lynden. Survivors are his wife, Mary; one daughter, Mrs. Mabel Stauffer, of Lynden; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister and a brother in Sweden; a brother Axel, of Los Angeles, Calif.; and a brother Fredolf Ericson, of Bellingham. ERICSON, Esther E., lifetime resident of Bellingham, passed away January 11th, (1992). She was born January 17, 1907 to Martha and Fredolph Erickson (sic). Esther was an accomplished secretary and was employed at Morse Hardware, Pacific American Fisheries and the history department at Western Washington University. As a lifelong member of Northwest Baptist Church, she was especially active in contributing as a talented organist and pianist, and also with her secretarial abilities. Her many interests included Bellingham Women's Music Club, Druzea Club, Y's Buys and travel, especially her visits to relatives in Sweden. Also her skills in knitting, crocheting and Scandinavian cooking were appreciated by family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Charlotte Whitney Waugaman. She was a loving aunt and will be greatly missed by her nieces, Martha Benedict and Evelyn Whitney, nephew Donald Whitney, and brother-in-law Donald Whitney, Sr. as well as by her great nieces and nephews, Matthew Benedict, Allison Hagin, Andrea Benedict, Shannon Mortimer and Brenda Whitney, and her great-great nieces and nephews: Elisabeth Mortimer, Annaliese Mortimer, Natalie Mortimer, Maxwell Mortimer, Benjamin Whitney and Amie Benedict, Eric Young, Taylor Hagin, Erika Hagin and Laurel Hagin. Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 17, 1991 (sic) at Northwest Baptist Church followed with burial at Bayview Cemetery. ERICSON, Julius, age 76, of 1228 State St., Bellingham, passed away Wed., Dec. 29, (1976) in a local rest home. Mr. Ericson was a retired Merchant Marine Seaman. ERIKSON, Gust, age 64 years, of South Bay, Lake Whatcom, passed away at a local hospital, Thursday, Jan. 3, (1952) following a lingering illness. Mr. Erikson had been a resident of this community for the past 46 years and was a member of the Twin Sisters Grange and the Odd Fellows Lodge. ERLANDSON, Linnea Frances died Sunday, June 13, 1993, in Bellingham. She was 82. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church in Bellingham with the Rev. Richard Christensen officiating. Born Sept. 9, 1910 in Rockford, Ill., to Abel and Esther Stockhus Anderson, she received a teaching certificate from Rockford College in 1930. A Whatcom County resident for 45 years, Mrs. Erlandson was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and of Lady Lions Club of Bellingham. Her husband Carl H. Erlandson, preceded her in death in December 1975. Survivors include daughter Joan C. Kellum of Prosser; sons John P. Erlandson of Seattle and Thomas D. Erlandson of Denver; sister Irma Jensen of Rockford, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
ERLEWINE, Kenneth L., born March 22, 1953 in Yakima, WA disappeared and presumably died in an airplane accident in Alaska, Feb. 1, 1983. Ken had been a resident of Bellingham since 1972, graduated from WWU in 1976 and was a self employed building contractor. He is survived by his wife Debra Erlewine; brother Lyle Erlewine of Bellingham; father, Donald Erelewine of Yakima; sister Jeanette Mickey of Seattle. EROS, Erick Olsen, age 69, of Rt. 3, Box No. 239, Enumclaw, passed away in a Tacoma hospital Friday, Nov. 22, (1957). Mr. Eros had been a resident of that community since 1949; was a retired logger; a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. ERPENBECH, Orvilla E., 85, died Thursday (July 10, 1986) at a local nursing home. She was born April 20, 1901, in Clinton, Iowa. She lived in Compton, Calif., most of her life, moving to Bellingham in 1983. Before retirement, Mrs. Erpenbech was an executive secretary for a savings and loan bank. She attended the Methodist church and was a member of the Eastern Star in California. Survivors include one niece, Mary Jo Tregilgas of Bellingham. ERSHIG, Albert H., age 59, of 816 16th St., passed away in a local hospital Saturday, Oct. 27, (1956). Mr. Ershig had resided in this community for the past 36 years; was the owner of Ershig Sheet Metal Co.; was a member of the Congregational Church; a member of the Bellingham Rotary Club; a member of the Bellingham Executives Association; a member of the 20th Century Club; a 35-year member of Bellingham Lodge No. 194, B.P.O. Elks, and a Charter Member of the Sheet Metal Contractors Association. Deceased had also been very active in Mt. Baker Council, Boy Scouts of America, and leaves to survive his widow Ruth L., at home; one son, Allan Herbert attending the University of Washington; one daughter, Mrs. Donna Ruth Pierson; three granddaughters and one brother, William M. Ershig, all of Bellingham. The remains will lie in state at Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home. Memorial services will be conducted at the Congregational Church by Dr. W. ERSHIG, Patrina Dorothea (Tena), age 88, of 1713 G Street, passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, August 17, (1954). Mrs. Ershig had resided in this community for the past 23 years, and was a member of the Birchwood Presbyterian Church. She was born in Norway, came to America at the age of 16 years, and was married to William Ershig in San Francisco in 1896 who preceded her in death. Surviving relatives include two sons, Albert and William M. Ershig, both of Bellingham; a granddaughter, Mrs. Donna Pierson; five grandsons, Bill, Albert, Don, Dick and Herman Ershig, all of Bellingham; and three great-granddaughters. ERSHIG, Ruth Lucille, age 90, of 2400 Samish Way, passed away Thurs. Oct. 5, (1989) in Bellingham. She was a granddaughter of Whatcom County pioneer Rubin P. Smith. Born May 26, 1899, she came to Whatcom County in 1908 and graduated from Whatcom High School and the Bellingham Normal School (WWU). She married Albert Ershig in 1924. He preceded her in death in 1956. ERSHIG, William M., 77, Sedro Woolley, former Bellingham resident, passed away Sat., March 28, 1981 at his home. He was born Jan. 26, 1904 in Seattle. Mr. Ershig was a retired sheet metal tradesman. Surviving are 3 sons, Don of Marina Del Rey, Calif., Albert & Richard, both of Springfield, Oregon; 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Ellamae (Latham) Ershig in 1951 & a son William K. Ershig in 1967. A 59 year resident of this community, Mr. Erchinger was a retired mail carrier having served 43 years with the U.S. Postal Service. ERVIN, Martha A., age 78, formerly of Urbana, Ohio and Plantation, Florida, passed away Fri., Jan. 13 while visiting. She leaves to survive 2 sons, Frank A. of Plantation and Harvey E. of Renault, N. C.; 5 daughters, Mrs. Arrena Larsen and Mrs. Bessie Blair, both of this city, Mrs. Bertha E. Gunning of Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Ella M. Marine of Kettering, Ohio and Mrs. Margaret Caudy, of Wintergarden, Florida; 3 brothers, Milton Foster of Liberty, Ohio, Louis Foster and James Foster, both of St. Petersburg, Florida, numerous nieces and nephews. The remains will be forwarded by the Westford Funeral Home to the Walters Funeral Home in Urbana, Ohio, where services will be held Tues., Jan. 17.
ERVIN, Thelma J. of 702 32nd St. died Tuesday, March 9, 1993. She was 85. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Jones Moles Funeral Home with the Rev. Joseph Harris officiating. Burial will be in Bayview Cemetery. She was born March 23, 1907, in Oak Harbor to Guy and Ida Newell. A resident of Bellingham for 76 years, she worked for Morse Hardware for 23 years, retiring in 1972. Mrs. Ervin attended Calvary Temple. She enjoyed gardening and being with her family. Survivors include son Herb Norbisrath of Hawaii; daughters Judy Jimmink of Petaluma, Calif., and Carolyn Geleynse and Rae Martin, both of Bellingham; brothers Roy Newell, Ted Newell and Meryl Newell, all of Bellinham; sisters Geneva Todahl, Sue Williams and Betty Addicott, all of Bellingham; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. ERWAY, Jay Michael died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997, in Custer. He was 19. Born May 22, 1978, in Mesa, Ariz., he lived most of his life there until moving to Canada in 1995. Survivors include his father and stepmother, Kenneth and Jaynelle Erway of Mesa, brothers Kacey Erway and Brent Erway, both of Arizona, and sisters Sarah Erway and Abigail Erway, both of Arizona. Arrangements are by Jones-Moles Funeral Home.
ERWIN, Samuel W., age 64 years, passed away Monday, November 17, (1947) following a lingering illness. He had been a resident of Blaine for the past thirty-three years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Samuel Erwin; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Hewitt, Bellingham; two sisters, Mrs. E. C. Hurd, Richmond Beach, Mrs. Clifford Garl, San Francisco, Calif.; three brothers, William, Seward, Alaska, Fred, Seattle, Keller, Richmond Beach; also several nieces and nephews. Mr. Erwin was with the Standard Oil Company for about fifteen years. For the past twenty-three years he had been in business for himself, having retired a few months ago. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 20, at 2 p.m. from the McKinney Funeral Home in Blaine, Rev. E. P. Thomas officiating. Cremation follows.
ERZ, Evelyn of Bellingham died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1993. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Jones-Moles Funeral Home with the Rev. Al Currier officiating. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park. Miss Erz was born to George and Pearl Erz in Lynden. A lifelong Whatcom County resident, she taught at Roosevelt, Birchwood and Franklin Elementary schools before retiring after 32 years. A member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Retired Teachers Association, she was a avid traveler and ballroom dancer. She returned from an ocean cruise to Rio de Janeiro shortly before she died.
ERZ, Pearl, of 2714 Peabody St., passed away at home Wednesday, May 20, (1959). Mrs. Erz had resided in Whatcom County for the past 50 years and leaves to survive one daughter, Miss Evelyn Erz of Bellingham; three sisters, Mrs. Bertha Scott and Mrs. Gladys Hullet, both of Newport, Wash., and Mrs. Effie Sheutte in California; one brother, Willis Johnson of Seattle. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. James B. Hughes, Friday, May 22, a 3 p.m. Final resting place Greenacres Memorial Park.
ERZEN, Frank, age 72, who resided at 3224 Peabody Street, passed away as the result of a heart attack at the family residence on Friday, Feb. 8, (1957). Mr. Erzen as a retired miner of the Bellingham Coal Mine. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Selyma at home; two daughters; four grandchildren, Rose Ann and Karen Cuder of Chicago and Delma and Nancy Tomic of Auburn, Wash.; Mrs. Mary Cuder of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters and brother-in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Peterson of Menlo Park, Calif, also Mr. and Mrs. Fred Erickson of Anacortes, Wash.; three nephews, Harold Peterson of Bellingham, and Stanley Peterson of Seattle; Emil Peterson, also of Seattle; one niece, Mrs. H. Pieper of Fresno, Calif. The remains rest at Bingham & Jerns where services will be conducted Monday, Feb. 11, at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. E. M. Butenshon officiating.
ERZEN, Selma M., age 83, 3204 Peabody St., passed away in a local hospital on Friday, April 10, (1964). Mrs. Erzen had been a resident in Bellingham for the past 44 years. She leaves 1 sister, Edla Erickson of Seattle; 1 brother, Herman Peterson, Palo Alto, California; 1 nephew, Harold Peterson of Bellingham. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 14, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth H. Daugs officiating. Interment Bay View Cemetery.
