ELLOFSON, Karoline, age 79 years of 3115 Pinewood Ave., Bellingham, passed away in a local hospital, Friday, March 28, (1958) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Ellofson had resided in Bellingham for the past 3 years and she came to Lynden in 1908. She is survived by two daughters; Mrs. Cecil Powell of Ferndale, Mrs. Albert Burgraff of Lynden; 2 grandchildren, Dr. Robert Powell of San Francisco, Calif., and Leroy Burgraff of Lynden; 3 great grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn and one brother, Martin, both of Norway. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 2 at 2 p.m. in the Central Lutheran Church at Forest and Laurel Sts., in Bellingham, with Rev. Oscar Jacobsen. ELLSPERMAN, Eva V., age 83 years, of the Mount Baker Apts., passed away in a local hospital Sunday, Dec. 12, (1954) following a short illness. Mrs. Ellsperman had been a resident of this community for the past 60 years and was a member of the Congregational Church, a member of the Past Worthy Matrons Club, the Sehome Chapter O.E.S. Eastern Star, Past President of the Rebekah Assembly of Washington, and Past President and member of the Rebeckah Lodge No. 43. She is survived by two sons, Dr. George A. Ellsperman of this city, and Dr. Harold C. Ellsperman of Okanogan; one daughter, Mrs. Winnifred Paynter of Vancouver, B.C.; five grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold K. Lawrence, pastor of St. James Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment, Greenacres Memorial Park.
ELLSPERMAN, George A., Dr., age 88 of 600 So. State St., passed away Thurs. Oct. 27, (1983). He was a member of American Legion; Past Master of Kulshan Lodge No. 186 F & AM Blaine; past Exalted Ruler of Elks Lodge No. 194; Past Commodore of Bellingham Yacht Club; Past Chairman of Pacific International Yachting Assoc. He published numerous articles on gold foil technics in regional & national magazines; practiced dentistry since 1917; member of Mt. Baker District Dental Society; past President of Washington State Dental Society; member of American Dental Association; U.S. Army dental officer, 1917-1919; Washington State Board of Dental Examiners 1919-1924; member of State Dental Study Club since 1922; elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society 1927; instructor of Vancouver Ferrier Dental Study Club since 1936; Fellowship in American College of Dentists, 1939; Academy of Restorative Dentistry, 1941; Academy International of Dentistry, 1944; past president of American Academy of Gold Foil.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Marna Rae Burkhalter, Miami, Florida, Patricia Louise Moore, Kailua, Hawaii; 5 grandchildren; 1 brother, Dr. Harold Ellsperman & wife Alma of Port Townsend. Funeral services will be held Tues. Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home. ELLSWORTH, Edward, age 79, of 1817 Knox St., Bellingham passed away Feb. 19, (1973). Mr. Ellsworth had been a resident of the North Bellingham community for many years. There are no known survivors. Graveside services under the direction of Moles Funeral Home will be held Thursday at 10:30 in Woodlawn Cemetery.
ELLSWORTH, Jessie, age 86, of Smith Road, passed away at a local hospital Friday, February 1, (1952) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Ellsworth had been a resident of North Bellingham over 50 years. She is survived by one son, Eddie, of Bellingham; a brother, Herbert L. Brown, in Arkansas; two nieces in California. Funeral services will be conducted from the Monroe Funeral Home Wednesday, February 6, at 1 p.m. Interment, Woodlawn.
ELLWANGER, Donald Eugene - A memorial service for veterinarian Donald Eugene Ellwanger, 72, is scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday at Destiny Christian Church, 5373 Guide Meridian, with the Rev. Roland Lewis officiating. Mr. Ellwanger died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 1997, of natural causes at his veterinary clinic, where he pursued a lifelong passion of caring for animals. Cremation will be under the direction of Bleitz Funeral Home of Seattle. Born Dec. 12, 1924, to Ivan and Agnes Ellwanger in Snoqualmie, he graduated from Rainier High School, where he was class valedictorian. He entered Washington State University in Pullman before being drafted into the U.S. Army. He served as a medical technician in World War II. He was stationed in Italy and was awarded the Victory Medal, a Good Conduct Medal and a Meritorious Unit Award. In 1951, he graduated from WSU's Veterinary School and worked for Curtis Breeding Service in Wisconsin and Washington before coming to Whatcom County in the early 1950s. He bought a large-animal veterinary practice in Lynden, known as Central Vet, later adding a small-animal clinic, Animal Birth Control, in 1976. He operated both businesses until 1981, when he sold the large-animal practice. He continued to operate Animal Birth Control until his death. He married his second wife, Judie Westhoff-Ellwanger, on July 20, 1973. She worked as his partner at both clinics. Mr. Ellwanger was a past member of Whatcom County Cattlemen's Association. He owned and bred the first Simmental bull in Whatcom County. He was a member of the Tri-County Veterinary Association, the Whatcom County Veterinary Association and the Washington State Veterinarian Association, among other organizations.
Survivors include his wife of Lynden; a sister, June Smith of Sequim; two daughters, Kathy Starbuck of Bellingham and Virginia Smith of Lynden; a stepson, Mark Hersman of Lynden; four grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.ELLWANGER, Ivanhoe Rousseau, 95, of Monroe died April 18, 1994 in Monroe. He was born Nov. 24, 1898 in Monroe to Benjamin Starbuck Ellwanger and Pernicia Evans (Eva) Hemenway Ellwanger. He attended high school in Monroe and was a World War I veteran of the Navy. On Oct. 16, 1921 he married Agnes Mae Tigner; she preceded him in death in 1988. On Dec. 27, 1991 he married Marguerite Graden. He is survive by his wife Marguerite Ellwanger of Monroe; a son, Donald Eugene Ellwanger of Lynden; a daughter, June Marie Smith of Sequim; a brother, Benjamin S. Ellwanger II of Tenino; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held April 22 in Monroe, a day after burial at Dungeness Cemetery in Sequim.
ELLWELL, Flora Alice, age 91, of Ferndale passed away Friday, February 17, (1967). Mrs. Elwell was a resident of Washington for 60 years and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. Elsie Fowler of Shaw Island, Mrs. Doris McEwen of Ferndale and Mrs. Clarice Phillips of Bremerton; 2 sons Lester of Bremerton and Vern of Lincoln City, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday February 21 in Woodlawn Cemetery with Elder P. D. Gerrard officiating under the direction of Moles Funeral Home.

He leaves to survive his wife, Winifred; 1 brother William T. Elmore of Ferndale and 1 sister, Mrs. R. J. Ingram of Arlington. ELMORE, Mary Harriett - Funeral services for Mary Harriett Elmore, 79, of 6890 Oat Cole Road, Everson, were held in the Jones Funeral Home Monday, Nov. 8 with Rev. Al Currier officiating. Interment was in Greenacres Memorial Park. She passed away Thursday, Nov. 4, (1982). She was preceded in death by her husband, Don in 1965 and her son Wallace in 1974. She is survived by a son, Gerald LeRoy Elmore of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a daughter Shirley and husband Wes Assink of Everson, a sister Mrs. Carl (Mabel) Robertson of Gering, Neb. There are four granddaughters, three grandsons, one great-granddaughter and three great-grandsons. Mrs. Elmore had been a resident of Whatcom County for 41 years. ELMORE, William T. (Tom), age 72 of Ferndale, passed away Sunday, Jan. 16,(1966). Mr. Elmore was a life resident of Whatcom County. He was a retired logger, a veteran of WWI, and a member of the William Lee Alexander Post No. 3685. Surviving are one half sister, Mrs. Robert Ingram of Arlington, 2 nieces and several other relative. Mr. Elsasser had been a resident of the Ferndale Community for the past 45 years, was a member and head usher of Calvary Temple, and a retired dairy farmer. ELSBERRY, Virginia Ella, age 67, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2002, at Christian Health Care Center in Lynden, WA. She was born on March 6, 1934 in Wellston, Ohio to Charles and Edna (Payne) Zinn. Whatcom county had been her place of residence for 35 years. Family and friends gathered at Woodlawn Cemetery for Graveside services on Friday, February 8, 2002. ELSBREE, Ethel June, 86, of 1282 West Maplewood, Bellingham and former long time Sumas area resident died on Thursday, January 5, (1978). Mrs. Elsbree, who was born in Kent, was a member of the Church of the Open Bible in Bellingham and had been a life member and Past Worthy Matron of Sumas Lodge No. 171 Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by three sons, Kenneth of Bellingham, John of McMinnville, Oregon and Jerrold of Astoria, Oregon; four grand and three great-grandchildren. Cremation was held at Greenacres Memorial Park followed by graveside services in Lynden Cemetery on Monday, January 9, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Rod McDougal officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home.
ELSBREE, Joseph Willis, age 70, of 2812 West Maplewood, Bellingham, passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, March 17, (1959) following a three months' illness. A pioneer resident of the Acme and Sumas districts, he farmed in that area until 1953 when he moved to Bellingham. Until December of last year he was employed as a guard at the General Petroleum Refinery at Ferndale. He was a member of the American Legion, serving with the U.S. Army in World War I. He is survived by his wife, Ethel June at home; two sons, John H. Elsbree of Withrow, Wash., and Jerrold Elsbree of Redondo, Wash.; one brother, Forrest Elsbree of Lynden; three grandsons, Lt. John J. Elsbree and Stephen and Patrick Elsbree. Funeral services will be conducted in the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden, Saturday, March 21, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. James Updike officiating. Burial will follow in the Lynden Cemetery.
ELSBREE, Leon Charles - Burial services for former Bellingham resident Leon C. Elsbree, 40, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Saxon Cemetery, north of Sedro-Woolley. A service of commemoration was at 10 a.m. today at the Mansfield United Protestant Church with the Rev. Kenneth Briggs officiating. Mr. Elsbree, of Mansfield, died Sunday (Oct. 7, 1990) near Coulee City after sustaining injuries in an auto accident. He was born April 20, 1950, in Rochester, Ind., to Clifton F. and Lila (Seigman) Elsbree. At the age of 2, he moved to the Bellingham area with his family. He attended schools in Bellingham and Coulee City before graduating from Mansfield High School. Mr. Elsbree later attended Bellingham Vocational Institute. From 1972-1977, he served in the Army. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Mansfield and worked for several wheat farmers. Mr. Elsbree was a mechanic for Wright Chevrolet in Grand Coulee and for Goehry's in Brewster. Most recently, he worked for Davis Farms and Poole Farms near Mansfield. Survivors include parents Clifton and Lila Elsbree of Mansfield; brother Robert Elsbree of Spokane; sister Beth Barker of Okanogan and a nephew. Arrangements are by the Waterville Funeral Home.
ELSBREE, Marsha Lynn & Martha Lee, infant twin daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Clifton F. Elsbree of Rt. 1, Lynden, passed away in a local hospital at birth, Thursday, Jan. 10, (1952). Surviving relatives, other than the parents, are one brother, Leon Charles, at home, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Elsbree, of Lynden, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Seigmen of Ferndale. Graveside services will be conducted at Saxon cemetery by the Rev. Chester Blair Monday, Jan. 14, at 10:30 a.m., under the direction of the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth.
ELSBREE, Baby Boy, son of Mr. and Mr. Elsbree of 2900 Douglas Street, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, April 28, (1955). Besides the parents he is survived by one brother, Leon Charles, at home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Elsbree of Lynden and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Seigman of Ferndale. Graveside services were conducted at the Saxon Cemetery Saturday, April 30, under the direction of the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth.
ELSEMAN, Bessie, age 72, of 1211 High St., passed away at home, Tuesday, Dec. 27, (1960). Formerly a resident of Springfield, Neb., Mrs. Elseman was a resident of Bellingham for one year. Survivors are one son, Charles J., of Stanberry, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Josephine Glover, of Bellingham, and Mrs. Kathryne J. Jungiohan, of Springfield, Neb.; one sister, Miss Katherine Sedlacek, of Omaha, Neb.; four brothers, James and Joseph Sedlacek, both of Springfield, Neb., John and Emil Sedlacek, both of Talmage, Neb.; six grandchildren. The remains were forwarded to the Kahler Funeral Home in Papillion, Neb., for service and burial by the direction of the Jones Funeral Home.
ELSETHAGEN, Finis Merlin, age 95, of 821 Chuckanut Shore Rd., passed away Wed. Feb. 22, (1984). Mrs. Elsethagen had resided in Bellingham for the past 13 years and was formerly from Columbia Falls, Montana. She was a member of the Christian Science Church and Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star and leaves to survive 1 son, Fred of this city; 1 daughter, Helen Mae Underwood of Sequim; 13 grandchildren; 3 sisters & 1 brother and several other relatives including a cousin, Bill Wieder of N. ELSNER, Allan L. – A memorial service for Allan Lee Elsner of Lynden will be at 1 pm Sunday at Ten Mile Grange, with the Rev. Al Currier officiating. Mr. Elsner died Monday, June 5, 2000 following an extended illness. Born Sept 5, 1933, to Henry and Ethel Ehlers-Elsner in Bellingham, he graduated from Lynden High School. Mr. Elsner served in the U.S. Army. In 1955 he began working for Georgia-Pacific West Inc., where he worked until 1963, when he began working as a carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Lynden. In 1974, he changed from a walking route to a rural route and in 1991 he retired. On Oct 27, 1969, he married Lois Timmons. She died in 1990. On March 24, 1992, he married Nora Medema in Reno, Nev. Mr. Elsner was a member and past secretary of the Camel Club. He took pride in his flower garden. His brother Roger Elsner and one nephew died previously. Survivors include his wife of the family home; two stepdaughters by his first wife; stepdaughters (by his second wife) Cheryl Koeffler of Anacortes, Michele Rinehart of Seattle and Renee Ingalls of Corvallis, Ore; stepson (by his second wife) Scott Mertenes of Shoreline; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.

He had been a resident of the Everson district for the past two years and formerly resided in the Lynden district. Mr. Elsner is survived by his wife, Caroline; one daughter, Mrs. Emily Chronister of Route 2, Blaine; one son, William of Bellingham; his mother, Mrs. Emilie Elsner of Ten Mile; two sisters, Mrs. Lena Miller, Mrs. Annie Klander, both of Ten Mile; three brothers, John, of Chehalis, Fred of Seattle, Henry of Lynden, Route 2; four grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 30, at 2 p.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden, with the Rev. E. M. Butenshon of Bellingham, officiating. Interment Lynden Cemetery.
ELSNER, Caroline E. - Funeral services for Mrs. Caroline E. Elsner, age 88, formerly of 408 17th St., Lynden, were conducted on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Gillies Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Carlson officiating. Burial followed in Lynden Cemetery. Mrs. Elsner, who died in Lynden on Monday, Oct. 29, (1984) was born in Sumner, Neb. on Nov. 29, 1895 and moved to the Lynden area in 1919. A member of the Lynden United Methodist Church, she was also a former member of the Delta Grange and the Be of Service Home-Ec Club of Lynden. She was married to her husband Carl in Bellingham on Aug. 11, 1920; Mr. Elsner died in 1953. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Emily and husband Audrain Chronister of Lynden; a son, William and wife Norma Elsner of Bellingham; six grand- and five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Mary Hinote of Lynden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
ELSNER, Emilie, age 94, of Everson, Route 1, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Anna Klander, Thursday, August 25, (1955). She had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 55 years, was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, charter member of the W.C.D.A. and a member of the Washington Co-Op. She is survived by three sons, John of Chehalis, Fred of Seattle, Henry of Lynden; two daughters, Mrs. Anna Klander, Mrs. Lena Miller, both of Everson, Route 1. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 30, at 2 p.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden with Rev. E. M. Butenshon officiating. Interment Lynden Cemetery.
ELSNER, Frank, age 64 years, of Seattle, passed away Sunday, February 8, (1948). ELSNER, Frank F., age 60 of 13025 26th Ave., South, Seattle, passed away in that city Friday Sept. 17, (1976). Born in Whatcom County, Mr. Elsner had resided in Seattle for the past 30 years and prior to his retirement had been employed as an instrument technician for the Boeing Aircraft Co. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Frank (Marie) Elsner of Bellingham. 3 brothers, Carl of Everson, Joseph of Deming and Henry of Bellingham, and also numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday Sept. 21 in the chapel of the Gillies Funeral Home with Rev. Lewin Clefisch officiating. Interment will follow in the Lynden Cemetery.
ELSNER-LUNDH, Freda, 85, formerly of Bellingham, died at her son's home near Lynden on Monday, Feb. 6, 1995. Graveside funeral services were conducted on Friday in Lakeside Cemetery on Pangborn Road with Ref. Al Currier officiating. The daughter of Fred and Kate (Little) Ehlers, Freda was born in the Clearbrook area on July 8, 1909. She graduated from Nooksack Valley High School and had lived in Seattle for 30 years, where she was employed as a clothing clerk at Sears and the Bon Marche. She returned to Bellingham five years ago and lived on Monroe Street, where she surrounded her home with beautiful flowers. She loved birds and was especially fond of cats who needed a home. Her favorite pastime was shopping. She is survived by two sons, Bob Elsner and wife Gloria of Bellingham and Allan Elsner and wife Nora of Lynden; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister Effie Fowler and husband Ray of Seattle; sister-in-law Maxine Ehlers of Bellingham; and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Eric Lundh in the 1960s, a son, Roger Elsner in 1988, and brothers Henry and Dick Ehlers. Services were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.

Born Dec. 29, 1900 in Lynden, Mr. Elsner had been a lifetime Whatcom County resident, was a member of Loyal Order of Camels, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Ten Mile Grange. ELSNER, Lois Nadine - A memorial service for Lois Nadine Elsner will be held on Saturday, March 24, 1990, at the Camels Club in Lynden at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Hensley officiating. Interment was in Monumenta Cemetery on Tuesday, March 20, at 1 p.m. Mrs. Elsner, of 6946 Hannegan Rd., Lynden, passed away at the Christian Rest Home on Sunday morning, March 18, 1990, at the age of 58. She had been a resident there since February. Lois was born on Feb. 28, 1932, in Goshen, a daughter of Joseph and Lydia (Ewing) Timmons. She moved to Kirkland at the age of 10 and returned to Whatcom County in 1962. On Oct. 27, 1969, she was married to Allan Elsner in Couer D'Alene, Idaho. Lois loved to play bingo. She also loved the outdoors, gardening, flowers, and picnics. She was an avid bowler and did beautiful crocheting and needlework. She attended First Reformed Church. Mrs. Elsner is survived by her husband, Al, of the family home; two daughters, Kathi Douma of Everson and Debbie Hawkes of Southern, Wash.; two sisters, Betty Janes and husband Gerold of Kirkland and Shirley Leder and husband Wendell of Glacier; a brother, Herbert Timmons and wife Jeannine of Redmond; her mother-in-law, Ethel Lundh of Bellingham; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Arrangements are under the care of Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.
ELSNER, Mary, age 86 of 2404 Cherry St., Bellingham passed away at her home on Thurs., Nov. 26, 1981. A former Lynden area resident, Mrs. Elsner was born in Arvada, Colo. Mrs. Elsner had been a Bellingham resident since 1966. ELSNER, Norma - Former Bellingham resident Norma L. Elsner, 61, died Sunday in Bellingham. At her request, no services will be held. Mrs. Elsner, a Whatcom County resident most of her life, was born on Feb. 16, 1927 in Bellingham. She was married to William C. Elsner in 1945. Survivors include her husband, of the family home; four sons, James W. Elsner of Bend, Carl L. Elsner of Dener, David A. Elsner of Marysville and John Elsner of Blaine; her daughter, Barbara L. Pantec of Las Vegas; one sister, Gean Huet of Canby, Ore. and numerous grandchildren. Cremation was at Greenacres Crematorium. Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home.
ELSNER, Roger Eldon - A graveside service for Roger Eldon Elsner of Seattle, formerly of Lynden, was held at Lakeside Cemetery on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 1988, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Wayne Francis officiating. Mr. Elsner, age 57, passed away at Swedish Hospital in Seattle on Oct. 1, 1988. He was born in Bellingham on June 8, 1931, to Henry and Freda Elsner. He graduated from Lynden High School in 1949. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force and served in Alaska from 1950 to 1953. He was employed by Western Electric for 35 years, and enjoyed horticulture a great deal. He is survived by his mother, Freda Lundh, of Seattle; two brothers, Robert Elsner of Bellingham and Allan Elsner of Lynden; an uncle Henry Ehlers of Bellingham; two aunts, Effie Fowler of Seattle and Maxine Ehlers of Bellingham; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Services were under the care of Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.
ELSNER, Rudolph M., age 44 years, of 1521 East Victor Street, Bellingham, a former resident of the Lynden district, passed away suddenly Sunday, September 22, (1946). ELSNER, Sarah R., age 85, pioneer resident of Pt. Roberts, passed away in an Edmonds hospital, Wed. Oct. 18, 1978. A resident of Pt. Roberts since 1900, she had made her home there with the exception of 40 yrs. spent in the Seattle area. Surviving are 1 daughter, Rowena Willis of Edmonds. 1 son, George of Seattle & Palm Springs, CA. 3 sisters; Mary Drtina of Seattle, Eva Renstrom of Anacortes & Margaret Fredricks of Vancouver, B.C. ELSTAD, Carolyn E., age 86 of 721 10th St., Bellingham, passed away Oct. 3, 1989. She was born April 27, 1903 in Bellingham, a graduate of Whatcom High School, and a graduate of Normal High School in 1924. She taught elementary grades in Sumas, Wilbur, and Bremerton, and was a retired school teacher. She leaves to survive a stepson, Rodney Elstand of Port Townsend; step daughter Roberta Berg of Portland; brother Preston M. Hilburn of Poulsbo; sister Betty & husband Herb Ennen of B'ham; grandchildren, nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, 1989 at Jerns LeVeck Funeral Chapel with Rev. ELTING, Susan, age 75, of Blaine, passed away Tues., April 20, (1976) following a long illness. Mrs. Elting were born June 1 in Winnipeg, Canada, and had lived in Blaine since 1902. She had been a receptionist for Dr. Howe for 22 years. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Rooney Swanson of Blaine; 2 nieces, Charlotte Baumgarner of Beaverton, Oregon and Lois Brass of Oregon. ELVIG, Kenneth C., age 84, of Bellingham and former member of the Home Rule Charter Commission, passed away Thurs., Feb. 27, 1997, in Bellingham. He was born Jan. 14, 1913, in Randall, Minn. to Hans N. and Mabel Lattel (Cochran) Elvig and has been a Whatcom County resident for the past 66 years. Mr. Elvig graduated from high school in Little Falls, Minn. and shortly after moved to Bellingham to live with his grandparents. He married Margaret Masterson in 1938 in Bellingham. Mr. Elvig joined the CCC's during the depression; had been employed with the State Highway Department; and during WWII was a poultry man. He worked as a spotter in local dry-cleaning establishments and retired as Supervisor of the WWU laundry facilities in 1976, was past president of the Washington State Horseshoe Pitchers Assoc., and past president of the Lynden's Toastmasters. He was a member of and elder for the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Bellingham. He enjoyed his family, grandchildren, and rose gardening. He is survived by his wife, Margaret at the family home; 4 sons: Paul Elvig (Vice-President of Evergreen Washelli in Seattle) & wife LaDonna of Everett, James Elvig (chiropractor in Bellingham) & wife Nancy of Bellingham, John Elvig (computer consultant in Bellingham) and Daniel Elvig (teacher in North Pole, AK); and 4 grandchildren: Jason, Kenneth, Leslie, Anissa, and Angela. Visitation will be Mon., Mar. 3, 9:00 a.m. - 7 p.m. at Greenacres Funeral Home. Services will be held Tues., Mar. 4, 3:00 p.m. at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel. Burial at Greenacres Memorial Park.
ELWELL, Sherman, age 82, of 3306 Northwest Ave., passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, Nov. 25, (1958). Mr. Elwell had resided in this community for the past five years and was a member of the B.P.O. Elks of Wenatchee. Survivors are his widow, Alta, at home; one daughter, Mrs. John Halvorson, of Wenatchee; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one son, Raymond Elwell, of Seattle, and one brother, Will T. Elwell, of Seattle. The remains were forwarded by the Jones Funeral Home to the Jones & Jones Funeral Home in Wenatchee where services will be conducted by the Rev. Price Friday, Nov. 28, at 1:30 p.m. Final resting place, Wenatchee Cemetery.
ELWICK, Thomas, 76 years, of 1512 Ellis, passed away at a local hospital, Monday, July 16, (1951) following a lingering illness. Mr. Ellwick had been a resident of this community for many years and leaves no surviving relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 20, at 11 a.m. from the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck funeral home with the Rev. Clarence Haugen officiating. Followed by cremation.
ELWOOD, Alice (Sally), age 85, a longtime Whatcom County resident, died November 20, 1997 in Bellingham. Sally was born February 27, 1912 in Missouri Valley, Iowa to parents John and Marie Christensen. She married Willis (Sandy) Prominski in 1934 and moved with him to Lummi Island in 1948. Sandy preceded her in death in 1967. She later moved to Bellingham where she lived for several years. In 1979, she married Harry E. Elwood and moved to Ferndale. Harry preceded her in death in 1991. Sally was a cook at Fisherman's Cove Restaurant on Gooseberry Point for 13 years. She was a great lover of the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, mushroom picking and in later years, when she and Harry spent their winters in Mexico and Arizona, she enjoyed just walking in the desert. She leaves behind one daughter, Sharron (Sherry) Corcoran and son-in-law Ed Corcoran of Bellingham; a sister Marilyn Peel and brother-in-law Earl Peel of Bellingham; two step-daughters Sondra Penfold of Bellingham and Darlene Knapp of Chicago, Illinois; grandsons Michael and Patrick Corcoran; 2 great grandchildren; 1 niece and 3 nephews. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 1997 at Westford Funeral Home.
ELWOOD, Effie, age 61 years, 2522 Park Street, passed away in a Mount Vernon hospital, Tuesday, April 27, (1948) the result of an auto accident twenty-five days previously. Mrs. Elwood had been a resident of Bellingham almost her entire life, and was a member of the Marietta Grange No. 781. Surviving relatives include, the husband, Robert O. Elwood, still in Rowley hospital, Mount Vernon; three sons, Alvin Elwood, Seattle, Russell of Ferndale and Harry, of Bellingham; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Huntley, Lynden, Wash., Mrs. Lavera Huntley, Everson, Wash., and Mrs. Betty Bryd, of Bellingham; ten grandchildren; three brothers, Vern Headley, Everett, Wash., Roy Headley, in Montana, and William S. Headley, California; two half-brothers, David and Allen Headley; also numerous other relatives. Funeral services will be held at the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home, Saturday, May 1, at 2 p.m. with Rev. George McMaster, officiating. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Elwood had been a resident of this community for the past 50 years, was employed as a packer by Bornstein Sea Foods for the past 25 years and a member of Meat Cutters Local No. 247. ELWOOD, Harry B., age 74, of 1366 W. Axton Rd., Ferndale, passed away Sat., Aug. 3, 1991 in Bellingham. He was born Mar. 8, 1917 in Ft. Benton, Montana to Robert & Effie Elwood and moved to Whatcom Count in 1919. Graduated from Mt. Baker High School and retired from the Teamsters. He was an avid sports fan. ELWOOD, Robert Oscar, age 81, 2805 Kulshan Street, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, October 5, (1963). Mr. Elwood resided in this community the past sixty years, and was a member and Past Master of the Goshen and Marietta Granges, and a member of Ten Mile and Hopewell Granges. Survivors are two sons, Harry, City; Russell, Rt. 2, Everson; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Huntley; Mrs. LaVera Huntley, and Mrs. Betty Byrd, all of this City; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and one niece, Mrs. Neola Reynolds, City. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. George McMaster Wednesday, October 9, at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
ELWOOD, Russell, age 64 of 9244 Greenwood North, Seattle, passed away Tues., Aug. 28, 1979 in B'ham. He was born May 30, 1915, in Benton, Montana. He grew up in B'ham and moved to Seattle 10 years ago and he married Dorothy Easters in 1974. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Seattle; 2 daughters, Mrs. Linda Hoines of Everson and Mrs. JoAnne Bjorklund of Seattle; 1 step-son, Johathan Johnson of Seattle; 3 step-daughters, Mrs. Beverly Bruce, Mrs. Donna Schroeder both of Seattle, Mrs. Marlene Spell of Mountlake Terrace; 1 brother, Harry Elwood of B'ham; 3 sisters, Mrs. Mildred Huntley, Mrs. Lavera Huntley and Mrs. Betty Byrd all of B'ham and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services will be held Fri., Aug. 31 at 1 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home with Pastor Lewin Clefisch officiating. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
ELZANOWKSI, Stanislaw C., 75, of 409 York St., died Thursday in Bellingham. Mr. Elzanowski was born Oct. 8, 1912, at Lowicz, Poland. He had lived here for 1 1/2 years. He was employed as a tax inspector in Poland. Survivors include his wife, Janina, of Bellingham and a daughter, Maria Hession, of Canada.
