EDWARD, Mura, 74, 2100 Young St., died Thursday (Oct. 11, 1985) at his home. He was born April 6, 1911, in Clipper and was a lifelong resident of Whatcom County. Mr. Edward was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Coast Guard, where he served four years during World War II. He was a Veteran of Foreign Wars, a member of the Albert J. Hamilton Post 7 American Legion, a member of Assumption Church and a member of the Assumption Church Parish Council. Mr. Edwards was retired from the U.S. Border Patrol and also worked for eight years with the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office. Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sons, including Steve of Bellingham; two daughters; a sister; and eight grandchildren. Family services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Westford Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Paul Dalton officiating. Mass will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at Assumption Church.
EDWARDS, Albert E., whose adventures took him to the four corners of the globe before he settled down to serve 28 years on the state legislature, died quietly Sunday evening (Oct. 19, 1969) in St. Luke's Hospital. Born off the coast of Denmark a little more than 90 years ago, Mr. Edwards lived in Whatcom County since 1923 and spent 16 years as a state senator and 12 years in the House of Representatives before finally retiring in 1961. At 13, he became a midshipman on a British sailing vessel and sailed around the Horn four times before becoming a third mate at the age of 17. He went with Dewey to Manila in the Spanish-American War and, after taking out U.S. citizenship, spent many years in Alaska. He worked as a gold miner, ran a series of trading posts, captained several river boats and took the first sawmills to Fairbanks. Then, 46 years ago, he bought property on Mosquito Lake Road and turned his hand to farming and politics. Sen. Edwards lived on Mosquito Lake Road until his second marriage to the former Mrs. Dorothy Miller in 1959. He moved to 2001 E. Sunset Drive where he lived until his death Sunday. One of his main interests in the legislature was the advancement of education in the county and he was instrumental in obtaining federal funds for the building of Bellingham High school. Sen. Edwards also was an active worker in the F&AM, Northwest Shrine Club, Knights of Pythias, Odd Fellows, Welcome and Pomona Grange, the Elks, Central Lions Club and the Eagles. He was also a trustee of the Whatcom County Old Settlers Association and member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
Survivors include the widow, Dorothy; a son, Albert of Oak Harbor; three daughters, Mrs. Justine Dalluge of Bellingham, Mrs. Agnes Odmark of Deming and Mrs. Emille Rogers, Burlington; four stepchildren, two grandsons, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Sen. Edwards was taken to St. Luke's Sept. 9, the day before his 90th birthday, and remained there until his death. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. The Rev. W. Robert Webb will conducted the services, assisted by the rector, the Rev. John B. Winn. EDWARDS, Albert Thomas, born October 17, 1911, died October 16, 1994. Cherished husband of Betty Edwards, loving father of Linda Allmon, Karen Johnson and Mary Nygard. Proud grandfather of seven grandchildren. He is also survived by three brother, Dick Edwards, Lloyd Edwards and Ralph Edwards; sisters-in-law Norme Freelin and Ione Weatherby, brother-in-law Dan Corn and their respective families. Al was born, raised and educated in Kittitas. He worked the family farm and spent his early years as a cowboy working cattle in the Colockum. He also rodeoed in the Central Washington area. At the age of 30 he began to drive truck for Shockey's Meats. After 5 years on the road he moved to Seattle and began to work for Appliance Parts and Service. He met Betty there and they were married October 17, 1947. Al continued with Appliance Parts for 32 years. After retirement he and Betty moved to the Warm Beach area where he went to work for the Warm Beach Senior Community. He retired three times, but returned three times when his replacements did not work out. Al was loved by the residents of the Community, and was invaluable in his service for them. He was an active member of the Free Methodist Church for forty years. Al loved his family, loved the outdoors, loved life, and will be greatly missed. Memorial arrangements are pending. EDWARDS, Alvin Leroy, age 32, of Route 2, Lynden, passed away in a Seattle hospital, Wednesday, August 21, (1946) following a long illness. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Pearl Edwards; one sister, Mamie Edwards, of Ferndale; three brothers, James of Route 2, Lynden, Robert and Harold both of Route 1, Lynden. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 24, at 2 p.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden with E. R. Remington of Bellingham, officiating. Interment in the Lynden Cemetery.
EDWARDS, Anna May, age 70, passed away at the home of her son William E. at Van Zandt Sunday, February 15, (1948). Mrs. Edwards had resided in that community for the past 21 years and was a member of the Baptist church in Texas. Surviving relatives are her husband, Frank, of Falcon, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude M. Steele, of Seattle; and Mrs. Edith M. McGinnis, of Bridgeville, Calif.; another son, Frank S. also of Van Zandt; one granddaughter, Mrs. Edithmay Lorimer, of Seattle; mother, Mrs. Stewart of Denver, Colo.; one brother, Med Barfield, of Colorado; and one half-sister, Mrs. Bernice Benedict, also of Colorado. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Ivan B. Bell, Friday, February 20, at 1:30 p.m. Final resting place, Woodlawn.
EDWARDS, Beatrice, age 75 of Bellingham, died Sunday, August 28, 1983. She came to this area in 1974 from Sheridan, WY. She was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church of Sheridan, Eastern Star Friendship Chapter, Daughters of The Nile Sahida Temple, all in Sheridan. She is survived by a son, Paul and his wife Erica Johnson in San Jose, CA; a brother, Phillip Edwards in Casa Grande, AR; a sister, Ivy Jensen of Bellingham. EDWARDS, Carolyn B., age 84 of 102 Prospect St., Bellingham, passed away in Ferndale Monday, June 19, (1961) following an extended illness. She had been a resident of Whatcom County many years and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, a longtime member of the Grange and a member of the Ada Knox Auxiliary. Survivors include 1 daughter, Mrs. Frances Buswell of Bellingham, 3 sons, Wesley of Seattle, Sidney and John of Dietrich, Idaho, 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 1 cousin, Bill Baer, of Ferndale, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted in the Moles' Monroe Chapel Thursday, June 22, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Ray Wagoner officiating. Final resting place, the family plot in Woodlawn Cemetery.
EDWARDS, Christine P. of Silver City, N.M., died Thursday, May 19, 1994. She was 65. Born June 6, 1928, to Leon K. and Olga Ecklund Pattison in Bellingham, she graduated from Bellingham High School in 1946. She received her bachelor's degree from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., in 1950 and went to work for First Presbyterian Church in Portland, Ore., as director of Christian education. Over the next several years, she completed a graduate degree at Union Seminary in New York City. She spent 43 years teaching at all levels, including 22 years at Valley High School in Albuquerque, N.M. She married Dale H. Edwards in Tucson, Ariz., in 1978. They moved to Silver City after he retired as a major from the U.S. Air Force in 1981. Mrs. Edwards continued teaching at La Plata Middle School in Silver City for 10 years. Recognized as Teacher of the Year in 1990, she retired the next year. Last year, she began work as a substitute teacher and continued teaching until shortly before her death. Mrs. Edwards enjoyed camping, nature, wildlife and the outdoors, but her greatest joy was the success of her former students, whom she kept track of around the world. Survivors include her husband of the family home; son Scott A. Stockley of Santa Fe, N.M.; daughter Heidi Marie Sexton of Truth or Consequences, N.M; twin sister Andrine Knapp of Sedro-Woolley; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
EDWARDS, Clarence W. - A graveside service for Clarence W. Edwards, 79, of 705 Carolina St. will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Arlington Cemetery. Mr. Edwards died Sunday (Aug. 12, 1990). He was born Oct. 28, 1910, in Oklahoma and moved to Bellingham in 1945. Mr. Edwards enjoyed woodworking and built the family home. He was employed as a truck driver for Garrett Freight Lines. Survivors include his wife, Aileen, of the family home; a son, Gary W. Edwards of Mesa, Ariz.; two daughters, Angeline Johnson and Janet Cagey, both of Edmonds; a brother, Robert Edwards of Prosser; a sister, NoraBel Runyan of Wapato; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. EDWARDS, Deborah E., age 86, formerly of 4420 Jones Road, Sumas, passed away in the Christian Resthome on Wed. Feb. 2, 1983. Born in Minden, Neb., Mrs. Edwards moved to Whatcom County with her husband Lewis in 1936. They were married in Minden, Neb. on Dec. 29, 1920. Mr. Edwards died in 1972. She was a member of the Sumas Advent Christian Church, The Rebekah Lodge in Sumas, Sumas Grange, The Sumas American Legion Auxiliary and had also been active in the Sumas Senior Center. She is survived by 3 sons, Thomas, Robert & wife Frances and William & wife Lora, all of Sumas; 3 daughters, Mrs. Mary & husband Earl Constant of Belfair, Wash., Mrs. Alyne & husband Rich Zwiers of Lynden and Mrs. Jeanette & husband Arthur Holz of Beaver, Wash.; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Mary Kirkpatrick of Ainsworth, Neb. & numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Sat. Feb. 5 at 1 p.m. in the Sumas Advent Christian Church with Rev. Earl Crouse officiating. Burial will follow in Sumas Cemetery. EDWARDS, Douglas Alan, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Edwards of 14 Huntoon Dr., passed away at birth Saturday, Feb. 19, (1955). Surviving relatives besides the parents are the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Rockwell of Montesano, Wash., and Mrs. C. D. Arey of Aberdeen, Wash. Private services were conducted from the Harlow-Hollingsworth funeral home Monday, Feb. 21, followed by cremation.
EDWARDS, Edwin F. - Memorial service for Edwin F. Edwards, age 64, of 3003 Hayward, will be Thursday June 30 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church on Garden Street with Rev. Charles H. EDWARDS, Elizabeth R., age 73, of Rt. 2, Everson, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, Feb. 13, (1955). Mrs. Edwards had resided with her daughter, Mrs. Mary Elmore for the past two and one-half years, and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Kearney, Neb. Surviving her other than her daughter, Mrs. Elmore, is another daughter, Mrs. Mabel Robertson of Gering, Neb.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Nelson and Mrs. Fannie Koberstein, both of Hastings, Neb.; also many nieces and nephews. The remains will be forwarded by the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth to the Anderson Funeral Home in Kearney, Neb., for services, to be followed by interment in Trumbull, Neb.
EDWARDS, Ella, age 72 years of Route 2, Everson, passed away Saturday, Feb. 23, (1957) at home following a short illness. Mrs. Edwards had resided in the Everson district for the past 54 years, and was a member of the Darigold Association. Surviving relatives include three sons, Willard, and Harry of Everson, and Robert of Bellingham. One brother, Art Emerson of Seattle. Four sisters, Edna Caley and Gertrude Caley, both of Seattle, Ruth Manning, Silverdale, Wash., and Nora Vanover, of Everson. Four grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews. EDWARDS, Emma Jane, age 71, of Nooksack, passed away this morning, November 5, (1948). She had been a resident of the Everson district for the past forty-three years. Mrs. Edwards is survived by her husband, William; three daughters, Mrs. Faye Edmison, of Bellingham, and Mary Edwards and Audrey Thompson, both of Seattle. One son, Harmon, of Everson. One brother, Bert Robinson, and three sisters, Mrs. Lula Chrisman, Mrs. Abbie Foster, all of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Meda King, of Stockton, Calif. Also two grandchildren. EDWARDS, Fansher Newton, age 71, of Lopez Island, passed away Thurs. Aug. 30, (1984). Mr. Edwards had resided on Lopez for the past 8 years and was a retired engineer for Kaiser Aluminum, a member of the Lopez Golf Club, Spokane Masonic Lodge and the Shrine. He is survived by his wife Dorothy of the home; 2 sons, William of North Dakota and Robert of Richland, Wa.; 1 daughter, Sharon Morris; 2 brothers, Franklyn of Richland and Theodore of Yakima; 1 grandchild. EDWARDS, Fenwick R., age 40, of 1126 Seventeenth Street, passed away suddenly Saturday, September 8, (1951) in California. Mr. Edwards was employed by the city as a plumbing inspector and was a member of Bellingham Bay Masonic Lodge No. 44, F. & A.M., and Steam and Pipe Fitters Union, Local No. 44, and was a life resident of Bellingham. He is survived by his wife Kay, and one son, Michael, of Bellingham, his mother, Mrs. Carolyn Edwards, of Glendale, Calif.; one brother, Sherwood of Bellingham. Services will be conducted Wednesday, September 12, at 1:30 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel E. Taylor officiating, to be followed by cremation.
EDWARDS, Frank Charles, 66, of Burlington died Wednesday, May 19, 1993 at United General Hospital. Born on October 5, 1926 in Corregador, the Philippine Islands, he was the son of Frank and Violet Edwards. Due to his fathers' military career he spent his childhood in various parts of the United States and abroad. He entered the United States Navy in 1944, serving in the Navy Air Corp. After his discharge in 1946 he remarried (sic) in the Naval Reserve and also the Coast Guard Reserve in which he was active until 1988. Mr. Edwards worked in civil service as a Captain for the Moffett Field Air Force Base fire department retiring in 1968. In 1977 he moved to Anacortes where he managed a motel, retiring in 1980. In 1984 he moved to Burlington where he has resided since. Survivors include 5 daughters and 3 sons-in-law; Sharlee and Albert Stoakes of San Jose, CA, Terrie and Rod Adams of Bend, Oregon, Marilee Hagee of Anderson, Missouri, Lauri Balcomb of Lynden, WA and Corrie and Bob Molina of Gault, CA; 13 grandchildren, and his former wife, Charlotte Edwards of Bellingham. Cremation was conducted at Hawthorne Memorial Park under the direction of Hawthorne Funeral Home. Private family services will be held at a later date.

EDWARDS, Frank W. – Family and friends of Frank W. Edwards of Bellingham are invited to an open house from noon to 6 p.m. June 10 at the family home, 4361 Francis Ave. Mr. Edwards died at home of cancer on Friday, May 19, 2000. He was 75. Born Oct. 4, 1924 to William R. and Alma Edwards in Neptune, Saskatchewan, he had lived in Whatcom County since 1971. Mr. Edwards served in the Canadian Army in Europe during World War II. On Nov. 25, 1950, he married Delpha May Hamilton in Surrey, B.C. A mechanic and former service station owner, he enjoyed traveling in a recreational vehicle and watching sports. He also was interested in antique cars. Survivors include his wife of the family home; sons Richard Edwards and Robert Edwards, both of Bellingham; daughter Gail Milligan of Bellingham; sister Gwen Gertsch of Surrey; three grandchildren; and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Edwards had been a resident of the Ferndale district for 14 years. She is survived by three sons, Earl, of Pocatello, Idaho, Roy and Reuben, of Alberta, Canada; four daughters, Mrs. Alice Barger, of Ferndale, Mrs. Ada King, of Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Elsie Davis, of Glendale, Calif., and Mrs. Veda Aydelotte, of Hollywood, Calif.; one brother, Thomas Squire in England; also 26 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Private services will be held at the Monroe Mortuary, of Ferndale, conducted by Henry Linde, Tuesday, April 13, at 2 p.m. Interment, Woodlawn Cemetery.
EDWARDS, Harold "Stub" 68, of Granite Falls passed away Dec. 24, (1991) following a lingering illness. He was born Dec. 1, 1923 in Scobey, Mont. and came from Montana to Whatcom County with his family in 1928. He attended Glendale and Lynden schools, then served as an Army paratrooper in World War II. He and his wife of 43 years, Ida, had several acres of strawberries at their home near Delta Grange. He worked at the Bellingham shipyard until it closed, then worked for an Everett pulp mill. The couple moved to Everett in 1960 with his mother, Pearl Edwards. After his retirement, the couple moved to Granite Falls. They enjoyed winters in California and Arizona. Besides his wife Ida, he is survived by a sister, Mamie Kinnee and husband Vern of Portland, Ore., and a sister-in-law Ruby Edwards of Everett.
EDWARDS, Harvey, age 73, of Route 1, Everson, passed away at his home Thursday, August 25, (1949) following a lingering illness. He had been a resident of the Everson district for the past 45 years and leaves to survive his wife, Ella; three sons, Willard and Harry, both of Everson, and Robert, of Bellingham. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 27, at 2 p.m. (P.S.T.) within the Gillies Chapel at Sumas. Final restin place, Greenacres Memorial Park.
EDWARDS, Henry C., age 70, of 4526 Lk. Terrell Rd., Ferndale, passed away Wed., Sept. 7, (1977). Mr. Edwards had been a resident of Ferndale for 4 years and is survived by his wife, Winnifred; 2 sons, Robert of Olympia and Bruce of San Jose, Calif.; 4 grandchildren. Family services were held followed by cremation at Greenacres Crematory under the direction of Moles Funeral Home.
EDWARDS, Irene of Bellingham died Saturday, Nov. 12, 1994 at Shuksan Convalescent Center. She was 89. A private family gathering will precede burial in Bayview Cemetery. Born Jan. 9, 1905, to Joseph and Gertrude Flora Kent Lockwood in Woodruff, Kan., she moved to Bellingham in 1990 from Portland Ore. Arrangements by Jones-Moles Funeral Home. She married W. U. Edwards in 1920. Mrs. Edwards was a homemaker and loved to crochet boots and hats for newborn children. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1964 and daughter Geraldine Hamm in 1990. Survivors include son W. E. Edwards of Atwater, Calif., and N. R. Edwards of Las Vegas; daughter Jane Hildebrand of Bellingham; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church & a Veteran of WWII, American Legion & VFW, B'ham. Yacht Club, Salvation Army Board & Y.W.C.A. Member of the Sheridan, Wyoming Elks Lodge No. 520. EDWARDS, Judy A. - A funeral for Judy A. Edwards, of 1200 Lincoln St. will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Jones-Moles Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bayview Cemetery. She died Monday, May 17, 1993, in Seattle at age 25. The cause of the death was unavailable. Born Sept. 29, 1967, to Marion and Alice Edwards, she was a Bellingham resident most of her life. She graduated from Bellingham High School in 1985. She was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Cane Eknes. Surviving are a son, Brandon Heay; mother Alice Bloedel of Seattle; father Marion A. Edwards of Bellingham; sister Linda Edwards of Seattle; brothers Ken Edwards and Stefan Edwards, both of Bellingham; grandmother Alice Spaulding; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives. EDWARDS, Kate N., age 81 of 1200 Lincoln St., passed away in Bellingham, Tuesday, (Feb. 6, 1989). She was born June 5, 1907 in Canada and had lived in the Lynden area from 1930 to 1963. She was a member of the Christian Science Church. She leaves to survive her son Larry & wife Lillian Edwards of Ferndale; 2 granddaughters, Cynthia & Ronald Parks of Bellingham, & Mrs. Linda K. Maarhuis of Ferndale; 3 great-grandchildren, Ronnie Parks Jr., Candis & Kate Maarhuis. EDWARDS, Kathleen Grogan, age 43, of 201 E. Main St., Everson, passed away Sun. January 23, (1983). Mrs. Edwards had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 12 years and was employed by the Tom Filion Realty. She leaves to survive her husband Ron of the home; 2 sons, Todd of Everson & Daniel Lalley of Glen Rock, Wyoming; 1 grandchild; 1 brother, Marty Grogan of Ansbary, Conn.; 2 sisters, Morine Brown of Las Vegas and Odie Burke of Troy, New York; several nieces & nephews. EDWARDS, Laura Squi-qui, died peacefully in her sleep at home on the Swinomish Reservation on Thursday, January 8, 1998 at the age of 99 years. Laura was born on April 10, 1898 to Richard Squi-qui and Louisa George. She was born and raised on the Lummi Reservation. She attended the Tulalip Indian Boarding School. After attending school she married Alfred Edwards of Swinomish on October 5, 1921. In her lifetime, Laura traveled by canoe, horse drawn wagon, car and airplane. Grandma was a member of the Swinomish Tribe and an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. Gram worked as a field boss in Skagit Valley fields where she introduced many of her grandchildren to their first work experience. For decades she has served on the Swinomish Tribal Senate's Health, Education and Social Services Committee and Tribal Enrollment Committee. She was a member of the Skagit County Council on Aging, worked as a Vista Volunteer to help small tribes in Western Washington and was a cultural advisor to the Burke Museum in Seattle. She blended her deep devotion to the Catholic faith, with her belief in the Native American religion (Seowyn) smokehouse. Edwards received an honorary doctorate of Humanities degree from Seattle University in 1989. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Edwards; and children, Geraldine Williams, Doris Casimer, Charles Edwards, Russell Edwards, Corrine Day, Gerald (Reggie) Edwards, Sr. Survivors include Uncle Charlie Sneatlum of Muckelshoot Reservation; sister-in-law, Eunice Sequi-qui of Seattle; 28 grandchildren; 87 great-grandchildren; 42 great-great-grandchildren. Grandma Laura will be missed by all knowledge and wisdom that she shared, not only with her family but with friends and relatives from tribes throughout the Northwest. Prayer services will be held Sunday, January 11, 1998 at 6 p.m. at the Swinomish Social Services Building. EDWARDS, Leon L., age 22, 2517 Scott Road, Bellingham, passed away at home Wednesday, Jan. 22, 1992. He was born Nov. 15, 1969 to Reginald and Sandra Edwards, Sr. in Bellingham. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Ferndale First Ward. He loved various sporting activities including football and boxing. He was preceded in death by his father Reginald Edwards, Sr. in August of 1991. Leon is survived by his mother Sandra of the family home; finacee Robin Billy of Bellingham; sisters Bonnie James of Bellingham and Brenda Edwards of Deming; brothers Doug Edwards and fiancee Dorothy Price of B'ham; Reginald Edwards Jr. and wife Tracey of B'ham; and John Jefferson of the family home; grandmother Emma Smith of B'ham; aunt and uncle LaVerne and Robert Hall of Ferndale; uncle Richard and wife Barbara Edwards of B'ham; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. EDWARDS, Lewis E., Sumas, died Sunday, December 31, (1972). He was 76 and a retired farmer. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Association, the Sumas Valley Grange and the Nooksack United Methodist Church. Surviving him are his widow, Deborah, three sons, Thomas, Robert and William, Sumas; three daughters, Mary Constant, Seattle, Alyne Zwiers, Lynden and Jeanette Holz of Forks; one brother, Mathew Edwards, Iowa; two sisters, Lucy Nichell, Seattle and Elsie Price, Fresno, California, 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. EDWARDS, Marie B., aged 77 years, passed away at an early hour Monday morning, May 29, (1933) at her home, 1417 Harris avenue, after an illness of but a few days' duration. Mrs. Edwards had been a resident of this city for the past forty years and leaves to survive her one brother, Elisha Thomas, city, and one sister, Mrs. Della Mchale. At the time of her death Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Pentecostal Mission, Nineteenth and Mill streets. The body is resting at the Harlow-Hollingsworth funeral home, Holly and Forest street. EDWARDS, Michael J., passed away, with family at his side, on August 11, 2011, at the age of 73. He was born in January 1938 to Fenwick Edwards and Margaret Edwards Keagle. He attended Bellingham schools, graduating from Bellingham High School in 1956 and from Western Washington College of Education in 1960. He also held master's degrees from UC Berkeley and from Syracuse University. His career was education. He enjoyed teaching high school math and physics. He retired as school superintendent in Wheatland, California. He returned to Bellingham in 2002 to care for his mother. He is survived by his wife Pat, of 52 years, a son (Kenneth), a daughter (Laura), two grandsons, and two great-grand daughters. He will be remembered with love. Services will be private. EDWARDS, Minnie A. - Funeral services for Minnie A. Edwards, 74, 1883 Kelly Rd., will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Union Cemetery, Sedro Woolley, under direction of Jones Funeral Home. Mrs. Edwards died at home Saturday (Apr. 20, 1974). She is survived by her husband, Frank; a son, Russell L. of Bellingham; three sisters, Thelma Nicholas of Yuma, Ariz., Ann LeSoine and Leona Seemeyer, both of Concrete, Leo Lewis of Woodlawn and Ted Lewis of Portland, Ore., and six grandchildren.
EDWARDS, Phyllis Daisy, 74, died Monday (June 23, 1986) in Oak Harbor. She was born July 7, 1911, in Oak Harbor. She married Willard J. Edwards on May 27, 1935, in Bellingham. Mrs. Edwards and her husband lived for many years in Everson, where she was active in the Everson Chamber of Commerce and organized many of the Everson Fall Festivals. In 1975, she and her husband moved to the Oak Harbor area, where she was a member of the Oak Harbor First United Methodist Church and the Oak Harbor Yacht Club. Mrs. Edwards is survived by her husband, of Oak Harbor; and a son, Ronald, of Everson. Three brothers, Harold, Leslie, and Vince, and a sister, Gladys, died earlier. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Oak Harbor First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Maple Leaf Cemetery in Oak Harbor. Funeral arrangements are by the Burley Funeral Home of Oak Harbor.
EDWARDS, Ralph E., 2421 Lincoln Street, age 72, passed away Sunday, August 14, (1966). A twenty-two year resident of this city, Mr. Edwards was a retired transport driver and a member of Teamsters Local No. 231. He is survived by his widow, Ruby, at home; two sons, Bill Causer of Edmonds, and Don Causer of this city; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Edwards of Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. Agnes Harris of Scottsdale, Arizona. Services will be conducted by Rev. Gerald Wilson Thursday, August 18 at 1 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bay View Cemetery.
EDWARDS, Ralph E. - Tillamook, Oregon resident Ralph E. "Gus" Edwards died Thursday, Jan. 21, 1993, in Tillamook. He was born Aug. 6, 1908, in Hosmer, B.C. He graduated from Fairhaven High School in 1926. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Edwards was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge in Tillamook. Survivors include wife Mary Lou of the family home; sons Sam Edwards of California, Dan Edwards of Bellingham and Tom Edwards of Seattle; brother George Edwards of Bellingham; sister Doreen Crew of Bellingham; eight grandchildren; numerous stepchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
EDWARDS, Reginald, Sr., 54, 2517 Scott Road, Bellingham, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 13, 1991 at home. He was born June 12, 1937 in Bellingham, WA and was a lifetime resident of Lummi Nation. He worked for Intalco Aluminum Corp. for 25 years, presently employed in Emission Control. He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Ferndale First Ward. Passed away Sept. 11, (1977) in Lafayette, Indiana, where he had gone to enroll his son in Purdue University. EDWARDS, Robert I., age 42 of 21421 14th Ave. So., Seattle, passed away in that city Sunday, October 18, (1964). He had been a resident of Whatcom County until 3 years ago and had been employed by the Puget Sound Bridge & Dry Dock Co., of Seattle. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 9301 of Lynden and the IBEW Local No. 46 of Seattle. Surviving are his wife, Ruby; 2 brothers, Harold of Everett; James of Bellingham; a sister, Mrs. Mamie Kinnie of Portland; his mother, Mrs. Pearl Edwards of Everett. EDWARDS, Robert L., 74, of Bellingham died Tuesday, March 21, 1995 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham. He was born Oct. 4, 1920 in Seattle to Henry and Jean (Warren) Edwards. He was an Army veteran serving in World War II as a chief clerk in the Philippines. Robert married Irma Sapp in Seattle on Feb. 10, 1973. They moved to Gardena, Calif., where he worked as a security guard for American Gamblers Association from 1974 to 1985. In 1985 they moved to Bellingham to retire. He enjoyed watching football and baseball and was an avid salmon fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Irma Edwards of the family home; three sons, Robert Edwards Jr. of Houston; William Baker of Gilroy, Calif. and Brian Baker of Hollister, Calif.; three daughters, Carol Ann Edwards of San Mateo, Calif., Barbara Jean Edwards of Bellingham, Renee Robbins of Dayton, Ohio; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Westford Funeral Home Chapel in Bellingham at 3 p.m. Friday. Arrangements are under the care of Westford Funeral Home.
EDWARDS, Ronald Harvey - Funeral services for Ronald Harvey Edwards of Bellingham will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Westford Funeral Home. Mr. Edwards died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at his home. He was 63. Born Dec. 30, 1935, to Willard and Phyllis (Hill) Edwards in Bellingham, he graduated from Nooksack Valley High School in 1955 and earned an associate's degree in technical arts from Skagit Valley College. Mr. Edwards served in the U.S. Army and earned a Good Conduct Medal. He also served on the Everson Chamber of Commerce, Everson City Council, Everson and Oak Harbor fire departments and the Whatcom County Parks and Recreation Board. On June 16, 1995, he married Carol May Westlake at Friday Harbor. He enjoyed painting, work, golf, bowling, fishing, camping and gardening. Survivors include his wife, of the family home daughters Debbie VanDyken of Nooksack and Peggy Deem of Custer stepsons John Westlake of Bellingham and Todd Lalley of Montana his father of Coupeville and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Edwards had resided in Bellingham for the past 6 months and was a retired teacher in the Highland (Highline) District. She was a member of Seattle Pacific Alumni. She leaves to survive a daughter, Sally Hans Berry (Hansberry?) of City; 1 grandchild; a brother Donald Haines of Seattle; 5 sisters, Frances Gould and Dorothy Bulger, both of Tiburn, Calif., Aneil VanDonge and Mary Miller, both of Seattle, Julia Bowen of Alameda, Calif. EDWARDS, Samuel H., age 88 of 2212 Franklin passed away in a local hospital Friday Sept. 18, (1959) following an extended illness. Mr. Edwards had resided in this community since 1921, was a retired Poultry farmer, a member of North Bellingham Grange & Washington Co-Op. EDWARDS, Theodore M. "Ted" of Bellingham died Sunday, Dec. 11, 1994, at Mount Vernon Care Center. He was 89. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at The Willows, 3115 Squalicum Parkway. Born May 6, 1905, in Jackson County, Iowa, he served as a U.S. Army instructor in telegraphy during World War II. After exploring homesteading opportunities in Alaska, he came to Bellingham in 1951. A home builder, he was instrumental in first extending treated Lake Whatcom water from the city limits to what was known as the Lake Whatcom Group, today the urban fringe part of Lakeway Drive. He donated equipment and a tract of land between Lowe and Oriental avenues for a neighborhood park that bears his name. He also was a longtime opponent of large residential development and logging in the Lake Whatcom watershed. His interests included political economy and early American literature. His ancestors included people who farmed the lower Manhattan area that became Wall Street, and five others who served in the Revolutionary or Civil wars. Survivors include his wife, Helen M. Edwards of Bellingham; daughter Dolores Wicks, also of Bellingham; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
EDWARDS, Verlie, 2247 Mt. Baker Highway, age 70, passed away Friday, May 27, (1966). Mrs. Edwards was born in Arkansas, and moved to this community in 1904, where she had resided since. She is survived by her husband, William at home; a daughter, Mrs. Lorraine Gray, city; eight step-daughters, Mrs. Rhoda York, Mrs.Alta McClellan and Mrs. Vera Young, all of this city; Mrs. Eva Bosch, Gladstone, Ore.; Mrs. Wanda Weymeyer, McKinleyville, Cal., Mrs. Viola Ritter and Mrs. Lila Hawley, both of Hayward, Cal.; and Mrs. Thea Magri of Alameda, Cal.; a grandson, Richard A. Gray of Stockton, Cal.; 14 step-grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted by Rev. Glenn C. Carlson Wednesday, June 1 at 1 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home. Final resting place Woodlawn Cemetery.
EDWARDS, William, age 84, of 3305 Alderwood Avenue, passed away Tuesday, February 21, (1950) following a lingering illness. He was a former resident of the Everson district and was a member of the Nooksack Masonic Lodge. Survivors include one son, Harmon of Everson; three daughters, Mrs. Fae Edmison, of Bellingham, Mrs. Audrey Thompson, of Seattle, Miss Mary Edwards, of Tacoma; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Duston, of Everson, Mrs. Nettie Filson, of Ottawa, Kansas; three brothers, George and Alfred of Hamilton, Missouri, and Frank, of Falcon, Colorado; two grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 24, at 2 p.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home in Sumas. Interment in Greenacres Memorial Park.
EDWARDS, William "Earl" 83, of Bellingham died Wednesday, (June 18, 1986) in a local nursing home. Mr. Edwards, a retired logger, had lived in the Bellingham area nearly all of his life. He was born Feb. 25, 1903 in Colorado. He was a member of Nooksack Lodge 192, F&AM. His wife Verlie died in 1966. Visitation hours continue until 5 p.m. today, and will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Jerns-LeVeck Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Woodlawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Lawrence Guderian officiating.
EDWINS, Esther C., age 68, of Seattle, passed away in that city Monday, July 24, (1961) following an extended illness. She was a former resident of Ferndale. Miss Edwins was a graduate of Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Portland, was a member of the Women's Overseas League. During World War 1 she served with the Red Cross in Siberia and served as an army nurse at Camp Stoneman,Calif., during World War II. She was a life member of the Red Cross. Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. C. C. Aubert of Bellingham, Mrs. Clark Johnson and Mrs. H. C. Mervin, both of Wapato, Wash., and Mrs. Mandus Snortlund of Seattle; numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 27, at 1:30 p.m. in Enterprise Cemetery with Rev. Ivan R. Smith officiating, under the direction of the Moles' Monroe Funeral Home.
