EBBESON, Benjamin S., age 85, 2521 Smith Road, passed away Thursday, April 22, (1965). A sixty-one year resident of Whatcom County, Mr. Ebbeson was a retired farmer and fisherman. He was member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church; Sons of Norway; Wergeland Lodge No. 21; Alaska Fisherman's Union, and Norlandslegt Lodge. Survivors are his widow, Ann, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Wilhelm, city; Mrs. Agnes B. Herlihy, Langley, B.C.; fourteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Oswald M., Langley, B.C., Einer M., Vancouver, B.C.; Askel M. Langley, B.C.; and nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Pastor Raymond Pfleuger Monday, April 25 at 1 p.m. Final resting place Greenacres Memorial Park.

EBE, Kevin Leonard, age 7, who resided at Route 1, Ferndale, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 29, (1959). Kevin was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Ferndale and leaves to survive his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Ebe Jr.; one brother, Kurt; four sisters, Barbara, Beverly, Kaye and baby, all at home. Also his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Ebe and grandmother, Mrs. Ida Iverson, all of Custer. Also numerous other relatives. EBE, Oscar M., age 93 of 205 S. B.C. Ave., Lynden, passed away Friday, December 9, 1983 in a rest home in Lynden. He had been in the Custer area since 1919, was a seed potato grower for over 40 years and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Ferndale and active in the Washington State Seed Potato Commission, Farm Bureau and Whatcom County Soil Conservation. He is survived by 2 sons, Aloys Ebe and his wife Merriel of Custer, Leonard Ebe and his wife Idamae of Ferndale; 5 daughters, Dora Iverson and her husband Leo of Ferndale, Frances Bryant and her husband Arthur of Ferndale, Verona Harbaugh and her husband Donal of Santa Ana, Calif., Irene Bellode and her husband Peter of Dolores, Colorado, Edith Brown and her husband David of Portland, Oregon; 32 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives. Vigil services will be held Thursday, December 15, in the chapel of Moles Funeral Home at 6:00 p.m. with Father Jack Buckalew officiating. EBEL, Thomas William, age 27 of Bellingham, resident of Whatcom County for two years, died Wednesday, June 4, 1997, as a result of an industrial accident. He is survived by his wife Barbara (Bryan) Ebel of Bellingham; eleven-month old son Zachary Jacob Ebel of Bellingham; Barbara's parents Fred & Sabrina Bryan of Ferndale; Barbara's sister and brother-in-law Jennifer and David Schoonover and son Tucker of Sumas; Barbara's sister Kristi Bryan of Ferndale; Barbara's brother Chris Bryan of Ferndale; Thomas' grandparents Ed and Marjorie Ebel of Moses Lake, Dr. Emma Grandy of Sandy Point; parents Bill and Suzanne Ebel of Albuquerque, NM; sisters Lauri Ebel of Albuquerque, Amy Ebel of St. Louis, MO; brother David Ebel of Alburquerque; brother and sister-in-law Edward and Denise Ebel of Kent; aunt Ann Ebel of Moses Lake. He was preceded in death by his mother Gay (Grandy) Ebel. Mr. Ebel was born February 15, 1970, Lake Chelan, to Bill and Gay (Grandy) Ebel. He married Barbara (Bryan) November 24, 1995, in Coeur d'Alene, ID. In 1989 he graduated from Sandia Prep School in Albuquerque; was the outstanding soccer player of the year in the State of New Mexico in 1988 and went to Yavapai Junior College, AZ, on a Soccer Scholarship; proudly served as a private in the U.S. Army; was employed for the past two years at Comptec where he worked alongside many friends. He played soccer, built race cars, enjoyed reading, spending time with family, fishing, horseback riding, playing with his son, and basketball. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 7, 1997, 2:00 p.m. at New Life Fellowship Church, 810 East Pole Road in Lynden with Pastor Jim Stender officiating. EBELING, Dietrich, age 71, of 1701 Larrabee Street,passed away in a local hospital Saturday, Feb. 18, (1950). Mr. Ebeling had been a resident of this community for the past 61 years and owned and operated the Washington Meat Market on the South Side during most of that time. Deceased was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, life member of Pythias, a life member of Bellingham Lodge No. 194, B.P.O. Elks, and was a member of the Washington Club. Surviving relatives are his widow, Louise, at home; one sister, Mrs. Johana Schaefer, of Seattle, and many nieces and nephews. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Clarence Haugen Thursday, Feb. 23, at 1:30 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.

EBELING, Louise A., age 81, of 148 Orchard Terrace, widow of the late Dietrich H. Ebeling, passed away in a local sanitarium Sunday, January 2, (1960). Mrs. Ebeling had resided in Bellingham for the past 60 years; was a member of the Central Lutheran Church. Survivors are one sister, Mrs. Ernestine Sternberg, of Bellingham, numerous nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Pastor Oscar A. Jacobson Wednesday, January 27 at 1:30 p.m. Final resting place Bay View Cemetery.

EBERGSEN, Emil, age 85 of 1224 Grant St. passed away Dec. 9, (1975). A resident of this community for the past 66 years, Mr. Ebergsen was a retired fisherman and shipwright, a member of the Lutheran Church and charter member of Shipwrights Local No. 2071. Surviving wife, Olga; 2 daughters, Mrs. Catherine Benedict and Marion Ebergson (sic) both of Bellingham; 1 son, Elmer Ebergson (sic) of Bellingham; 4 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, 3 great-grandsons, numerous nieces and nephews. EBERGSEN, Olga, age 87 of 1224 Grant St., passed away Thurs. Oct. 2, 1980 in Bellingham. She was born Feb. 24, 1893 in Norway and had been a resident of the community for the past 69 years. She was a member of the Christ The Servant Lutheran Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Emil Ebergsen on Dec. 9, 1975. She is survived by 1 son, Elmer & wife Carol Ebergson (sic) of Bellingham; 2 daughters, Marion Egergson (sic) of Bellingham and Catherine & husband Douglas Benedict of Bellingham; 2 granddaughters, Diane & husband John F. Baker of Bellingham and Elaine & husband Ronald L. Peterson of Bellingham; 4 grandsons, Brian, Bruce & wife Amy, Brent & Barry Ebergson (sic) all of Bellingham; 4 great-grandsons of Bellingham; 1 sister, Maren Petersen of Norway and numerous nieces & nephews. EBERHARD, Vivian Mae, age 58, of 645 D St., Blaine, passed away Sat. Feb. 14th, (1987) in Blaine. Mrs. Eberhard was born Oct. 25, 1928 in Blaine, WA and had been a resident of the community for the last 9 years. She was a member of the Mennonite Brethren Church of Birch Bay. She leaves to survive her daughter, Vicky Lynn Eberhard of Blaine; mother, Violet Stehle of Blaine; brother, Joseph Stehle of Lynnwood. EBERHARDT, Mary M., age 77 of Bellingham, passed away in a local hospital Thursday, October 28, 1982. She was a member of the Catholic Church. EBERHARDT, Thomas Henry - A Rosary for U. S. Customs area director Thomas Henry Eberhardt of Blaine will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday at Jerns-McKinney Funeral Home Chapel in Blaine. Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anne Catholic Church, also in Blaine. Burial will be Saturday in Holy Rood Cemetery in Seattle. Mr. Eberhardt of 9883 Harvey Road died of cancer Sunday March 13, 1994, in Seattle. He was 53. Born July 15, 1940, to Henry and Eleanor Priebe Eberhardt in Waukegan, Ill., he graduated from Messmer High School in Milwaukee and Park College in Kansas City, Mo. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1963. Mr. Eberhardt married "Jeanie" Chin-Lien in 1963. He was a U.S. Customs Service inspector in Milwaukee from 1967 to 1974; a supervisor of customs inspectors in Kansas City, Mo., from 1974 to 1983; and was area Customs port director for Blaine; Lynden, Point Roberts and Sumas from 1983 until his death. Survivors include his wife of the family home; son Christopher Eberhardt of St. Louis, Henry Eberhardt of Auburn and Karl Eberhardt of Seattle; brothers Michael Eberhardt of Port Washington, Wis., and John Eberhardt of Saint Joseph, Mich.; sisters Katherine Magurn of Oxford, Ohio, and Margaret Eberhardt of East Calais, Vt.; and two grandchildren.

EBERHART, Mayellen - Edmonds resident Mayellen Eberhart died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1993. She was 98. Family graveside services will be held Friday at Bayview Cemetery. She was born Feb. 20, 1894, in McPherson, Kan., to George and Caroline Plasket. She was a resident of Bellingham since 1927, until she moved to Edmonds in the summer of 1992. EBERLI, Louise J., 67, of Clipper, passed away May 20, (1986). She was born in Sedro Woolley Oct. 13, 1918 and was married to Alfred Eberli in Sedro Woolley in 1942. She lived in Clipper for the past 35 years. She is survived by her husband, Alfred; one son, Richard of Acme; three daughters, Marguerite Sherman of Saxon, Cathi Johnstone of Sylvana and Linda Hruby of Acme; one brother and 12 grandchildren. Rosary and mass of Christian burial will be conducted Friday, May 23 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Catholic Church in Sedro Woolley with Father James O'Grady of St. Joseph's Parish in Lynden officiating. EBERLINE, Marguarite, age 92 passed away in a local nursing home Monday Oct. 14, (1974). She had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 50 years and was a member of Eastern Star, and the Christian Science Church. She leaves to survive her sister, Lillian Angstman of Chicago. Christian Science Services will be held October 17 at 11 a.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery with Mrs. Ida Scott officiating under the direction of the Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home.

EBERLY, JoAnne - Funeral services for JoAnne Eberly will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gillies Funeral Home by the Rev. John Ham. The 11-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Eberly, 8558 Benson Road, died Tuesday (Jan. 3, 1967) of injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Everett. She was a student at Lynden Grade School and secretary of Delta Junior Grange. Besides her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Norman and Donald, and a sister, Sharon, all at home; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin J. Eberly of Renton and Mrs. Bertha Chapman of Sumas, and great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Storm of Bellingham and Mrs. Laura Whaler in California. EBERLY, Maxine C., age 40 of 3104 Bennett Ave., passed away suddenly at the family home, Sunday, April 1, (1956). Mrs. Eberly was a lifetime resident of this city and was a member of the Baptist Church. EBERSOLE, Willis E., age 88, of 120 S. Forest St., passed away in a local hospital, Monday, Oct. 17, (1960). A former resident of Minnesota and a retired farmer, Mr. Ebersole had resided in Bellingham for the past 13 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. C. E. Lusby, of Bellingham; six sons, Clifford L., of Oakland, Calif., J. Arthur, of Yellow Springs, Ohio, Fred of Short Hills, N. EBERT, Emma, age 76 years, of 2048 Roy Rd., Lake Samish, passed away at her residence Thursday, December 13, (1956). Mrs. Ebert had resided in this community for the past 15 years, and leaves to survive her husband, Max Ebert, of the home; one son, John Ebert, of Seattle; one daughter, Mrs. Wally Johnson, of Portland, Ore.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Augusta Kilian of this city. EBERT, John, age 81, of 2300 14th St., No. 54, Bellingham, passed away Wed. April 9, (1986) in Bellingham. Mr. Ebert was born March 20, 1905 in Germany. He had been a resident for 9 years, and was the auto parts manager for William O. McKay Ford Co. in Seattle for 40 years. EBERT, Matilda Helen, age 86, of 1224 Cornwell Ave., Bellingham, passed away Wed., Oct. 10, 1990, at Alderwood Park Convalescent Center. She was born July 15, 1904, in New York City, NY to Vincent and Marie Langhans. She married John Ebert in 1929 in Bremerton, WA and later moved to Bellingham in 1978. Her husband John passed away in 1986. He leaves to survive one son John of Seattle and one daughter, Mrs. Wally Johnson of Portland; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Congregational Church, Senior Citizens, Council on Aging & Retired Federal Employees Assn. She was a member of the Garden Street Methodist Church and Townsend Club No. 5. Her survivors include the husband, Elmer Ebright at home; four sons, Victor, Floyd, Max, of Bellingham, and Orrin W., Bremerton, Wash.; one daughter, Mrs. Alma Reynolds, this city; two sisters, and five brothers, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. EBRIGHT, Elmer E., age 88, of 1713 G. Street, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, May 13, (1956). Mr. Ebright had resided in this community for the past 53 years, was a member of the Garden Street Methodist Church, and was a retired dairy farmer. Surviving relatives include four sons, Victor, Floyd and Max Ebright of this city and Orrin in Alaska; one daughter, Mrs. Alma Reynolds of Bellingham; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Banks of Osborne, Kansas and Mrs. Nora Wilson of Seattle. EBRIGHT, Floyd, age 84, 2640 S. Park Dr., passed away Mon. Dec. 22, 1980. A 78 year resident of this community, he was a retired owner of Ebright Auto Body Shop. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Charter member of Albert J. Hamilton Post No. 7 American Legion, member Bellingham Bay Lodge No. 44 F & AM, and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 17. He is survived by his wife Marguerite; 1 son, Dr. Robert & wife Beverly A. Ebright, City; 2 grandchildren, Gregory R. Ebright of Alderwood Manor, Davis S. EBRIGHT, Gladys Alida died July 19, 1994, a resident of Sehome Care Center, Bellingham. Born at the Gulf of Georgia on July 11, 1909 to Charles and Emma Peterson. She married Max Ebright in 1931 and they resided in the Bellingham area until 1960. As a resident of Bellingham she was an employee of the Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Company in the 1920's, past president of Washington school PTA in the late 1940's, member of the Republican Women's Club, Druza Club and a square dancer. Preceded in death by her husband in 1978, brother Charles Peterson, in 1977 and sister, Violet Eason in 1988. A resident of Arizona and California until a return to Bellingham in 1990, she was an active senior, a true participant of life, homemaker and lover of all people. Survivors; son, Marvin Ebright, (Colleen), Ferndale, WA, daughter Dorel Field, (John) of Mercer Island, WA, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, six surviving "Peterson" sisters (Myrtle Brighton, Vista, CA, Marguerite Knarreborg, Seattle, WA, Maybelle Heinrich, Portland, OR, Dorothy Ross, Tigard, OR, Kathleen Welsh, Seattle, WA and Maryjo Alvord, Lawrenceville, GA), one brother, Henry Peterson, Blaine, WA, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. EBRIGHT, Victor, age 64 passed away suddenly Saturday, Feb. 6, (1960) at the family home in Morton, Wash., where he had resided for the past 2 years. Mr. Ebright had formerly resided in Yakima and for 12 years had been a resident of Alaska, and for 11 years prior to his retirement 2 years ago was co-owner and co-operator of the Western Thrift Drug Store in Bellingham. He was a veteran of World War I, a member and past commander of the American Legion in Yakima and was a member of the Yakima Lodge F & AM and a member of the Scottish Rites Bodies. Surviving relatives include his widow Iris at home, 3 brothers Floyd and Max of Bellingham, O. W. Ebright in Alaska, 1 sister, Mrs. Alma Reynolds of Camano Island, also numerous nieces and nephews. ECHAVEZ, Beverly Ann Hauser, 53, of Hawaii, died Wednesday, March 9, 1994, in Hilo, Hawaii. Born Sept. 16, 1940, in Madison, Wis., she moved to Bellingham in 1945 and graduated from Bellingham High School. After graduation she moved to Portland, Ore., and worked as a telephone operator for two years. She returned to Bellingham and was a cannery worker and a member of Assumption Church for nearly two years. She moved to Hawaii in the mid-60's and married Herman Echavez there in 1969. Mrs. Echavez was a junior at the University of Hawaii at the time of her death. She was also a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa, where services were to be held for her today. Survivors include her husband of Paauilo, Hawaii; sons Russell Echavez of Hilo, and Ray Echavez of California; daughter Renee Echavez of Hilo; brother David Hauser of Honokaa; sisters Patricia Hauser of Kona, Hawaii and Frances Andrade of Honokaa; and numerous nieces and nephews. ECKER, Hattie L., age 90, formerly of 1425 State Street, passed away at the Stafhold Nursing Home in Blaine Monday, November 23, (1964). A fifty-seven-year resident of this community, Mrs. Ecker was a piano teacher for many years. She was a member of the Garden Street Methodist Church; life member of Sehome Chapter No. 17, O.E.S., and a charter member of the Bellingham Music Club. ECKFORD, Henry W., 79, Blaine, passed away in a local rest home, Tuesday, February 17, (1976). A life time reside of Blaine, he was a retired pipefitter. Surviving are his wife, Jessie, at home, three nieces, Juanita Dement of Blaine, Maxine Jones of Kent, Washington, Genevieve Murray of Anchorage, Alaksa, a sister, Roberta DeVries of Everett and (close friend) Harry Vaughn of Bellingham. ECKFORD, Jessie A., 86, a former Lynden resident, died Friday (Feb. 20, 1981) in a local nursing home. She was born Oct. 9, 1894, in Rocky Hill, Conn. She had lived many years in Everett before moving to Lynden. She was a member of the Episcopal church. She is survived by close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry. Surviving are her husband, Paul at home; three daughters, Mrs. Ruby Johnson and Mrs. Helen Rollag, both of Mont Lake Terrace, and Mrs. Pauline Jackson of Everett; one sister, Mrs. Olive Bainter of Blaine; three brothers, George and Burt Bice, both of Custer, and William Bice of Blaine; also eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at the McKinney Funeral Home, Friday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Mack Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Enterprise Cemetery.

ECKREM, Petra O., age 58, of 5129 Finley Street, Seattle, passed away in that city Wednesday, Dec. 31, (1952). Mrs. Eckrem was the widow of the late Capt. Sofus K. Eckrem, and prior to moving to Seattle, had resided in this city for 47 years. Mrs. Eckrem was a member of the Lutheran Church and leaves to survive two daughters, Mrs. Katherine Virdell and Mrs. Ruth Ulrich, both of Seattle; two sons Kaare L., of Vashon Island, Wash., and Sofus P., in the Army Air Force, stationed at Scott Field, Ill.; six grandchildren; two brothers, Hjalmer and Peter Lind, both of Bellingham; four sisters, Mrs. Emmy Roundquist and Mrs. Auslung Haugness, both of Bellingham, and the other two residing in Norway. The remains will rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth, where services will be conducted Monday, Jan. 5, at 1 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.

ECKREM, Sofus, Capt., age 67 years, passed away at a hospital in Seattle, Sunday, April 10, (1949) following a five months' illness. Capt. Eckrem had lived in Bellingham for the past 47 years and was a mariner, serving as captain on coastal ships for the past 35 years and was a member of the Master, Mates and Pilots Union, Seattle, Local No. 6. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Petra Eckrem, at home; two sons; Kaare, Seattle, and First Lt. Sofus, Hamilton Field, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Katherine Harrison, Seattle, Mrs. Ruth Ulrich, Renton; six grandchildren; two brothers, Paul, Bellingham; Pete, Everett, Wash. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth, where services will be conducted by Dr. Robert T. McFarlane, Wednesday, April 13, at 2:30 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View Cemetery.
