John Quincy Tawes Family

John Quincy TAWES was born 26 May 1870 in Bellingham, Whatcom, WA to McKenney Thomas and Mary Frances (BIRD) TAWES. He married first on 25 Dec 1892 in Ferndale, Whatcom, WA Mattie V. CISSNA. Mattie was born about July, 1871 in MO and died 20 May 1955 in Puyallup, Pierce, WA. She is buried in Woodbine Cemetery. John and Mattie were divorced and John married (2) Ethel E. who survived him. John died 5 July 1929 in Ferndale, Whatcom, WA and is buried in Enterprise Cemetery.

Children of John and Mattie:

1. Iris V. TAWES was born in July, 1894 and died before 5 July 1929. In 1912 Bellingham City Directory, Iris is listed as a student at Wilson's Business College and residing in Ferndale.

2. Clarence Bryan TAWES who was born 18 Feb 1897 in Whatcom County, WA and died 29 Jul 1950 in Los Angeles, CA.

3. Emily M. TAWES was born in 19 Mar 1898 and died 24 Oct 1979 in Pierce County, WA. She married Dave BALCH who was born 1 Jun 1897 and died in May, 1973.

4. Elaine A. TAWES was born 3 Jun 1902 and died in June, 1970. She married (1) Clarence KNOTT. They were divorced and Elaine m(2) Rudolph BOETTCHER.

5. Glen Burton TAWES was born 6 Feb 1911 in Seattle, King, WA and died 18 Sep 1929 in Bellingham, Whatcom, WA. He is buried in Enterprise Cemetery.
