Everett Daily Herald 2-5-1910 A Lowell and Rucker avenue trolley car snuffed out the life of George J. Eaden, a resident of Lowell, early last night, for the unfortunate man succumbed to his injuries at the Everett hospital shortly after the accident. According to a statement made by Mortorman Charles A. Fells, he was driving his car at the rate of about ten miles an hour along Third avenue, Lowell. The stretch of street was dark and he was almost upon the figure of a man sitting on the rail before he realized it. Reserved power failed to save Eaden who was knocked in the head. George Eaden was a working man 65 years old. He leaves a wife and four children, who live in Lowell. Eaden is said to have been at times a victim of fatigue, and he was suffering from one of his attacks at the time of his death. Fells is known by the company as a careful moterman. Eagleton, 26 years old, died yesterday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adelbert Eagleton, 3114 Maple street, after a long illness. Besides his parents he is survived by his wife, Amy L. Eagleton, one son, Leroy A. Eagleton, and one daughter, Doris Mae Engleton, and three sisters, Mrs. Edyth Antil, Mrs. Celia Yoakume and Miss Leola Eagleton. Mr. Eagleton held membership with Everett Tent No. 4 Knights of the Maccabees, Funeral arrangements will be announced later by John F. Jerread. 11-14-1919 Funeral services for Nathan A. Engleton will be held from John F. Jerread's chapel Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. The Rev. W.P. Kirk will have charge of the services. He will be assisted by the Rev. W.E. Henry. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery. Snohomish Tribune 11-18-1910 Oliver O. Eastman, and old Grand Army man, died Tuesday night of heart failure, at his home on Linclon street. He was 66 years of age and had been a resident of Snohomish for nine years. Mr. Eastman has been a familiar figure for years around the N.P. depot with his basket of fruit. He is survived by a widow, four sons and a daughter, Mrs. Mullican. The wife a former M.E. pastor here, Rev. Towne, is a sister of Mr. Eastman. She resides at Darrington at present. Eddis, who was fattaly injured last Thursday while in the employ of the Cherry Valley Logging Co. will be held tomorrow at 9 a.m. from the Riverside Catholic church, Rev. Father O'Brian officiating. Interment will be made in Mt. Carmel cemetery. Mr. Eddis is survived by a widow. He was a member of Snohomish aerie, No 195, F.O.E. The casket will be open this evening at Jerad's chapel. Snohomish County Tribune 2-22-1895 Grandma Eddy, who in her day was one of the most hospitable of entertainers and always good hearted and kind, passed to the land beyond early this morning. Her husband was buried at the old home near Bangor, Maine, and it was Mrs. Eddy's request that she be laid beside him in the old churchyard. Accordingly the body was embalmed and will be shipped to Maine for interment. Grandma was 75 years old. She has one daughter, Mrs. Armine Blackman, and two sons, Nelson and Will Eddy, all residents of this county. Services will be held at the home of Nelson Eddy, near the central school house, tomorrow afternoon at 1 o'clock, Rev. Dorrance officiating. Everett Daily Herald 3-24-1927 Sarah E. Eddy, 71 years of age died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Gillispie, on March 18. Services were held at Bakeman chapel at 11 a.m. March 21. Prof. Newberry officiated. Interment was made at the IOOF cemetery. Everett Daily Herald 12-25-1914 Bellingham, Dec.25-Col. J. J. Edens, for thirty-three years a resident of Skagit and Whatcom counties, died at his home here last night at 8 o'clock, after an illness which came upon him shortly after his return form the national encampment of the G.A.R. at Detroit, last September. He was commander of J.B. Steadman Post, No. 74, G.A.R., of Bellingham, and patriotic instructor for the encampment of the Dept. of Washington and Alaska. He was 75 years old. Col. Edens was born in Kentucky, when a load of 11, he went to Illinois. From there he went to Missouri, where he enlisted in the Tenth Missouri cavalry, serving throughout the civil war. He was with Sherman on the march to the sea and was mustered out in Chattanooga July 21, 1865. Col. Edens was best known in the Northwest as a pioneer in the lumber business. In 1871 he located on the Guemes island and built a mill. He was the first representative in the state legislature after Skagit county was separated form the county of Whatcom. Everett Daily Herald 4-15-1929 Isaac P. Edholm, 63, of 1306 Hewitt Ave. died Sunday morning at an Everett hospital following a brief illness. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Anna Edholm, proprietress of the Hoyt hotel, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Olson of Cambridge, Mn. Mr. Edholm has resided in Everett for the past eighteen years. He was a member of Fir camp #5385, M.W.A. and the Scandinavian Fraternity lodge #247. Funeral arrangements, in charge of John J. Jerread, will be announced later. Everett Daily Herald 8-2-1918 Herman A. Eisert, age 29 years, was killed at 12:02 this morning while in charge of a Great Northern motor going east. The body was found lying by the track just this side of bridge N256, west of Snohomish at about 6 o'clock this morning. He was a messenger in charge of the big motor used to take trains through the Cascade tunnel. The motor had been brought down for repairs and he was taking it back to the tunnel, attached to an eastbound train. It is thought that he leaned out to adjust some part of the motor and was struck by the framework of the bridge in the darkness and thrown out. The body is at Bakeman's parlors. Eisert was born in Montgomery, MN, and lived in Ballard where he leaves a wife. Everett Daily Herald 8-17-1942 Mrs. Hattie Christina Ek, of Maltby, wife of Emil Ek, died at the Mauna Los home in Everett, Saturday, August 15, after a short illness. She was born in Daney City, Nb., later moving with her parents of Genos, Nb. She went to Seattle in 1921, residing in the vicinity for fourteen years and in 1936 moved with her husband to Maltby. Surviving are her husband; two sisters, Edna Vickery of Maltby and Ida Peterson of West Point, Nb. and a sister in law Mrs. Elmer Swwanson of Columbia, Nb. Funerals services will be announced from the Stokes mortuary in Renton. Interment will be in the family plot in the Greenwood cemetery at Renton. (no date) Mrs. L. Finette S. Elred died at 7:30 last night at the family residence on Maple Street, after an illness of about five weeks. Mrs. Elred was the mother of Miss Lavene Elred of the Mutual Telephne company. Mrs. John Eby of Clays edition and Messrs. James and Jen Alred both of whom are now living in this city though, the latter was resident of Mn. Mrs. Elred was seventy years of age and was born in Colbrock, N.H. She came to this city about three years ago and was a member of Rose Rebekah lodge. The funeral will be held from the residence tomorrow afternoon. Snohomish County Tribune 10-28-1895 The Hartford special to the Post-Intelligencer contains the following: Dr. C.H. Eldridge, formerly of Seattle and Snohomish, died in San Francisco on the 25th very suddenly, of inflammation of the bowels. He was married two years ago last March to Miss Margaret Illman, of Hartford, who survives him. Mrs. Eldridge is a daughter of H.W. Illman and wife, of Hartford, and will return home on the first boat for Seattle. The doctor was one of the best educated men in this state, speaking several languages fluently. He was 37 years old, and practiced in Seattle two years ago, having offices in the Occidental hotel. Dr. Eldridge was well known in Snohomish, and his wife will receive the sympathy of her many friends in this city, for her bereavement. Snohomish County marriage Record Clark H. Eldridge m Margaret A. Illman 4-24-1893 Snohomish County Tribune 11-17-1927 Word has been received of the death at her home Wednesday of Mrs. William Ellis. She was one of the first settlers in this vicinity. She has been confined to her bed for the past eighteen months with paralysis. Mrs. Ellis is survived by her husband and three sons, Harry, Frank and Walter; one son Roy Ellis of Alaska having died two years ago. There was a private funeral Saturday afternoon at the Kirkland Undertaking parlors and the remains were cremated. Snohomish County Tribune 11-25-1898 (Friday) Wednesday afternoon, as Bill Harriman and his wife, Louisa, and Indian by the name of Charly Shelton from the reservation, Mrs. John Elwell and Mrs. Chas. Harriman were riding in a canoe near Fiddler's Bluff, the canoe accidently tipped over, and all but Mrs. John Elwell and Bill Harriman were drowned. The bodies were recovered Thursday morning, and the funerals will be held tomorrow. No futher particulars of the affair have as yet been given. Monroe Monitor 7-7-1905 Mrs. C.F. Elwell was in Ferndale last week to attend the funeral of her father, Henry Roessel. Mr. Roessel was one of the pioneers of Whatcom county and one of its most substantial farmers and prominent citizens. His wife and four grown daughers and four grown sons survive him. Charles F. P. and Sofia Elwell, died at her parents' home in this city last Saturday after an illness of but one week. The funeral was held at the residence Monday afternoon, Rev. She was born in Shatam, N.B. May 21, 1819. She came to Snohomish from Metapedia, Canada, in 1886 accompanied by her husband who departed this life two years later, also by several of their children. There are now surviving her two sons, George G. England, of Seattle and John England of Tacoma; also five daughters, Mrs Catherine Plaskett and Mrs. Martha McKay of Snohomish, Mrs. James Moore of Big Lake, Mn., but now in this city Mrs. James White of Milinockette, Me, and Mrs. David Francis of Metapeda, Canada. She leaves in this city three grandchildren, Mrs. Tena McKinney, Miss Maud Plaskett and Mr. John Plaskett; also one great grandchild, Myrtle McKinney. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon. ERNEST EDWARD ENGLISH Obit Dated: July 4, 1960 CASHMERE - Ernest English 68, lost his life in a car accident Saturday at Cashmere. He was born Feb. 16, 1892, at Dewey, Okla., and came to Washington State when 12 years old and located at Snohomish. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during World Was I and served with the Coast Artillery. following discharge he returned to Washington to make his home. He married Frances Whaley Oct. 15, 1944 at Snohomish and has lived in Cashmere since. Mr. English was a member of Rocky Reach Barracks No. 1251, World War I Veterans. Surviving are his wife Frances one daughter, Mrs. Lillian Zito, California: five grandchildren: two brothers; Joe English, Snohomish: and F. M. English, California: two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Putman, California: and Mrs. Sadie Thompson, Wenatchee. Kuelbs and Braun Funeral Home of Cashmere is in charge of arrangements. Note: Ernest English was first married to Lula M. Cronmiller of Canada and divorced abt. 1931. Everett Daily Herald 12-13-1909 George English, an old time resident of Snohomish died last night at his home near Marysville where he has resided for about 3 years. Mr. English was hurt about a year ago while digging a well. He was in the bottom of the well when his son lowered a timber, which swung against his head flattening it against the curbing of the well. He was laid up for some time, but for about ten months was able to be about. The concussion on the brain however, caused his mind to be effected, and one month ago he was operated on at the Snohomish General hospital but without obtaining relief. He was taken home a week ago, but death ended his trouble. Mr. English was one of the most likeable men who ever resided here,, and practically every man who knew him regrets to hear of his death. He was a member of the Foresters of America, and M.W.A. Lodges in Snohomish. In the latter lodge he carried a $2000 policy. He leaves a widow and several children, mostly grown. He leaves his wife, Hattie H., at home; a daughter Mrs. Della Northrup of Snohomish; two sons Melvin of Snohomish and Charles of Seattle; a sister Mrs. Sadie Thompson of Wenatchee; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. English, age 70, died last Thursday afternoon at his home just across the Pilchuck. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the residence. Interment was in G.A.R. Cemetery. Everett Daily Herald 1970 Hattie Helen English, 76, of 1705 Terrace St., Snohomish, died Feb. 12 in a Monroe hospital following an extended illness. She was born in Medford, Wi., July 28, 1893, and came to Washington in 1905 from North Dakota. She has lived in Snohomish since that time. Her husband Joseph, preceded her in death in 1969. The had celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1961. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Snohomish. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Della Northrup of Snohomish, two sons, Melvin of Snohomish and Charles of Seattle; three brothers, Ted Schachtschneider of Marysville, Charles Schachtschneider of Ferndale, and F. Schachtschneider of Olympia; three sisters, Amelia Timm of Cashmere, Louise Timm of Ephrata and Mrs. Emma Demarest of Wenatchee; seven grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Bauer Funeral Chapel, Snohomish, with Rev. Charles R. Symmark officiating with burial in the G.A.R. Cemetery. Everett Daily Herald 1-21-1914 Word has been received here of the death of Donald Ennis, a former Snohomish resident, of typhoid fever at Centralia last Friday. Snohomish Eye 1895 John Enselman, a farmer living near Arlington, fell thirty feet from the trestle of the Lake Shore bridge on his way home with an unusually large jag last Saturday night, and sustained injuries from which he died on Monday. The funeral services were held on Tuesday, a large number of friends and relatives from Monroe attended. Everett Daily Herald 4-15-1929 Elias H. Erickson, 83, died Sunday at the home of his daughter, 2919 Maple street. Mr. Erickson is survived by nine children; Charles of Swan's Lake, Mt; Benjamin of Minneapolis; Henry, William, Mrs. J.R. Schumacher, and Mrs. J.F.. Schaller of Everett; Mrs J.F. Fields and Mrs. M.M. Peterson of Granite Falls, Mn; and Mrs. A Johnson of Brainerd, Mn; 41 grandchildren, six great grandchildren; a brother in Red Wing, Mn. and a sister in Portland, Ore. Mr. Erickson was born in Norway December 15, 1845. He came to this cournty at the age of 18 and lived in Mn. until two years ago when he came to Everett. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Auseth funeral home 2917 Broadway., active pallbearers will be six grand-sons and the honorary pallbearers will be six grand-daughters of Mr. Erickson. The Rev. C.H. Norgaard will officiate at the services. Intermment will be in Evergreen cemetery. ERVINE NOTES Luetta Ervine died in East Stanwood, Snohomish Co.,on 12/3/1932.husband was noted informant was Charles Ervine. DOB was 7/28/1882 in Fairmont, Ind. her parents were noted as C. Moon and Ledia Wright. Moon was born in Iowa, Wright in Fairmont IN. She was buried at Gar IOOF Cemetery on 12/5/1932 by Gunderson Funeral Home of Stanwood. She died of Myscardial and Influenza. The home address showed RFD-2 City of East Stanwood. GAR Cemetery - Charles Ervin - born 1/1/1882, died on 11/11/1961 and was buried by Purdy and Dawson (of Snohomish) on 11/14/1961 at age 79. Susanna Ervin b in Indiana, buried on 12/28/1935 age 77 also by Purdy & Sons. William Franklin b in Iowa buried on 10/23/1932 age 78 also by Purdy & Sons.
