THIRTY-TWO young men and women who have completed the course at the State Normal School will march boldly to the front of the platform to receive the diplomas that certify their intellectual attainments at the Normal Auditorium Thursday, June 7. The close of commencement week will be marked by the exercises on Thursday, and the school will close its doors to the students who have finished the course. Almost every member of the senior class has already obtained a position for next year. Four of them go into the city schools of Bellingham to teach. Four go to Tacoma, two to Everett and three to Seattle. One goes to Prosser as teacher of manual training and history in the grammar grades of the public schools. One goes to Tacoma as ward principal, and one to Renton in the same capacity. Two members of the class completed their work last February and two will not complete their work until the close of summer school. All others will complete their work June 6.

At a meeting of the Normal faculty yesterday afternoon fifty-three secondary
and twenty-eight elementary certificates to teach were granted to the students
in the various classes of the school. Forty-three students in the junior
and ten in the fourth year classes received secondary certificates, while
twenty-eight elementary certificates were issued to the members of the sophomore
class. Only a few of the candidates failed to receive the papers giving them
authority to teach. The secondary certificates are good for five years and
the elementary for two years. Holders of the secondary certificates must
teach at least two years in order to obtain a life diploma. The successful
candidates are as follows:
