In the matter of the incorporation of the City of Fairhaven, in the County of Whatcom and State of Washington.
To the Honorable County Commissioners of Whatcom County: The undersigned, your petitioners respectfully represent to this Honorable Body that they are citizens of the State of Washington and are residents and taxpayers within the limits hereinafter more particularly described as the boundaries of the city of Fairhaven and that they are qualified electors of Whatcom County in the State of Washington. That they desire the said city to be incorporated under and in pursuance of an act of the legislature of Washington, approved by the Governor on the 28th day of March, 1890. That the boundaries of the said city, as we desire the same to be incorporated, are as follows, to wit: Commencing at the northwest corner of the W. R. PATTLE Donation Claim in Whatcom County, in the State of Washington, which is marked by the letter "p" cut into solid rock on the shores of Bellingham Bay and is in section thirty-six (36), township thirty-eight (38) north, range two (2) east, and is two-thousand and seven (2007) feet west and three hundred and sixty-one (361) feet south of the quarter section corner on Puget sound guide meridian between sections thirty-one (31) and thirty-six (36); running thence east forty-one hundred and one and nine-tenths (4101.9) feet to the south-west corner of the Thomas JONES Donation Land Claim; thence north along the west line of the Thomas JONES Donation Land Claim to the north-west corner thereof; thence east to the south-east corner of the E. C. FITZHUGH Land Claim; thence north to the south-west corner of the William UTTER donation Claim; thence to the south-east corner of the said UTTER claim; thence north along the east boundary of the said UTTER claim to the section line between sections twenty-nine (29)and thirty-two (32); thence east along said section line to the quarter corner between sections twenty-nine (29) and thirty-two (32); thence south along the local division line between the east and west halves of section thirty-two (32) township thirty-eight (38) north, range three (3) east, and sections five (5) and eight (8) to the center of section seventeen (17), in township thirty-seven (37) north, range three (3) east; thence from the center of section seventeen (17) west, along the division line between the north and south halves of section seventeen (17), eighteen (18) and thirteen (13), to the shores of Chuckanut Bay; thence following the shores of Chuckanut Bay along the beach in a generally northerly course to the place of beginning. That the number of inhabitants included within these above boundaries, as nearly as can be ascertained, is not less than thirty-five hundred (3500); and on the first day of January, 1890, the number of inhabitants included within the said boundaries was more than fifteen hundred (1500) and, as nearly as can be ascertained was at that time two thousand (2000). Wherefore, your petitioners pray that the said city of Fairhaven may be incorporated and that due legal notice as required by law, shall be given thereof and the proper steps taken to establish a city government over the boundaries hereinbefore set forth, all of which is respectfully submitted:
