Franz H. Ehle Family


Franz "Frank" Haver EHLE was born in December, 1853 in Baden, Kappelwindek, Germany to Ignatius and Barbara (BURCOTT) IHLE. He died about 1903 and is thought to be buried in Greenwood Cemetery. Franz arrived on the ship "Silesia" 28 Aug 1872 at the port of New York as Franz IHLE. He married (1) Elizabeth Rebecca HANDLEY who was born in Iowa and probably died about 1882 in Buffalo County, NE. He married (2) 31 Mar 1883 in at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney, NE  Anna M. BRUCKER, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (WEIDMAN) BRUCKER. Anna was born about December, 1863 in Burlington, Des Moines, IA and died 6 Oct 1926 in Bellingham, Whatcom, WA.  Frank EHLE and his family came to Whatcom County about 1887 from Buffalo County, NE and resided at New Whatcom.

  1. John Walter EHLE was born 11 Mar 1873 in Kearney, Buffalo, NE. He married about 1902, Marianne RODRIGUES, a native of California. John was a Medal of Honor recipient for service during the Spanish-American War; Fireman First Class, U.S. Navy., USS Concord, Cavite, P.I., May 21, 1898 . Following the blowing out of a lower manhole plate joint on boiler B of that vessel, Ehle assisted in hauling the fires in the hot, vapor-filled atmosphere which necessitated the playing of water into the fireroom from a hose. He also received the Dewey Medal. He is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery, Oakland, CA.

  2. Carl Frederick EHLE was born 12 Sep 1879 in Kearney, Buffalo, NE and died 25 Dec 1959 in Bellingham, Whatsom, WA. He married 1 Nov 1921 at the Goshen Advent Christian church, Marguerite Gertrude LARKIN, daughter of Dr. Thomas A. and Alicia (HARRISON) LARKIN. Marguerite was born 14 Feb 1892 in Butte, Silverbow, MT and died 9 Oct 1983 in Lenox, Berkshire, MA. She had previously been married to James William HENRY.

  3. Frank Joseph EHLE was born on 5 Nov 1880 in Nebraska and died in May, 1963. He married about 1916 Lela Mable WIEDERRECHT, daughter of George Philip WIEDERRECHT, who was born about 1886 in Iowa.

  1. Irene E. EHLE was born 1 Apr 1884 in Kearney, Buffalo, NE and died 5 Dec 1960 in Bellingham, Whatcom, WA. She married Joseph Peter TRECKER, son of Ferdinand and Elizabeth (SMITH) TRECKER, who was born 12 May 1864/6 near Cologne, Germany and died 9 Sep 1944. Both are buried in Greenacres Cemetery.  In 1901 Joe and Irene owned the Goshen Hotel and Bar.

  2. Minnie C. EHLE was born 21 Sep 1885 in Kearney, Buffalo, NE. She married 25 Jul 1903 at Whatcom, WA John T. MAXWELL, son of George W. and Mary (INMON) MAXWELL. John was born about 1876 in MS and was a resident of Hope, Clark, ID at the time of marriage.

  3. George W. EHLE was born 19 Jan 1888 in Sehome, Whatcom, WA. Not with family in 1910 census and probably had died as his mother said one of her children was deceased in 1910 census.

  4. Oliver Joseph EHLE was born 15 Jun 1890 in New Whatcom, Whatcom, WA and died 11 May 1979 in Bellingham, Whatcom, WA.  He married 18 Jun 1913 in Lynden, Whatcom, WA Mary Estella McSORLEY who was born 6 Sep 1892 in WA, the daughter of  John E. and Cora May (WILCOXEAU) McSORLEY. Oliver and Mary are buried in Greenacres Cemetery.

  5. Maurice Herbert EHLE was born 26 Feb 1895 in New Whatcom, Whatcom, WA. He married 17 Apr 1920 in Bellingham, Whatcom, WA Pauline FINNSON who was born in Iceland about 1898. Pauline was the daughter of Finnier  and Gertrude FINNSON and died 5 Oct 1978 in Vancouver, Clark, WA.

  6. Mabel Helen EHLE was born 19 Sep 1897 in New Whatcom, Whatcom, WA. She m.(1)  22 Nov 1915 in Bellingham, Whatcom, WA Atho/Otho D. ROGERS who was born about 1891 in Little Falls, WA to T. E. and Francie (RODGERS) ROGERS. Mabel m. (2) about 1930 Fred LEYDE.

    Her children were:

  7. Clarence William EHLE was born 16 Nov 1899 in New Whatcom, Whatcom, WA and died 29 May 1940 in Seattle, King, WA. He is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery. Clarence married 10 Jul 1931 Gladys W. SCRIMSHER who was born 6 Feb 1904 to Ernest L. and Emma (KUEHNOEL) SCRIMSHER and died 3 May 1978. She is buried in Greenacres Cemetery.
