Edward C. Schumacher Family

Edward Charles SCHUMACHER was born 21 Jul 1861 in Millbrook, Kendall, Illinois, son of Charles and Ann Elizabeth (BROADBENT) SCHUMACHER. He died 3 Jun 1951 in Bellingham, Whatcom, Washington and was buried 6 Jun 1951 in the Abbey of Bayview Cemetery. Edward married 1 Jul 1886 in Cropsey, McLean, Illinois, Jessie Elizabeth TERPENING, daughter of Henry Lucas and Susan Rebecca (CORY) TERPENING, who was born 21 Feb 1867 in Cropsey, McLean, Illinois, and died 13 Sep 1936 in Bellingham, Whatcom, Washington. Edward worked as a telegrapher for the Illinois & Central RR in the late 1870's & 1880's. He was Postmaster of Bradley, Illinois, May 1898 to May 1902. He was Secretary of the Board of Education for Bradley School district in 1899. In June 1903 he moved his family to Bellingham, Washington. He taught at Fairhaven High School from 1913 to 1933. He served on the Bellingham School board as president in 1912 and as a board member afterward. After 1933, he operated a used furniture repair store at 1235 State Street in Bellingham, known as Schumacher's Exchange. Later went into business with Earl Fralick as Schumacher & Fralick.
