Louisa Stevens Thompson Family


Louisa Stevens THOMPSON was born August 28, 1811 in Maine to William STEVENS and Sally BAILEY. She married James A. THOMPSON on January 15, 1832 in Westbrook, Maine. He was born on October 22, 1808 in Brigton, Maine to Archibald THOMPSON and Abigail EMERSON. James was a was a prominent businessman in both Augusta and Westbrook, Maine. In addition, he was a member of the Maine Legislature for one term, serving in the House of Representatives in 1854. Louisa and James retired to Hawaii in 1877 to live near their children, where James died of an accident. Louisa moved to Blaine, Washington in 1888 to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. William KING and Jennie Laura THOMPSON KING. Louisa died in Blaine on June 5, 1897 and is buried in the Blaine Cemetery.

Children of Louisa and James THOMPSON:

  1. Emma Louise THOMPSON  was born October 21, 1833 in Augusta, Kennebec, Maine  and died June 25, 1873 in Englishtown, Monmouth, NJ. She married Charles Henry MORRILL on February 13, 1864. Charles was the son of Joseph Buck MORRILL and Hannah DAY and was born May 1, 1837 in Pepperell, Middlesex, MA. He died February 12, 1915 in Englishtown. They had one daughter Mary Josephine MORRILL who was born March 16, 1873 in Englishtown and died July 16, 1873 in Englishtown.

  2. James William THOMPSON was born July 10, 1835 in Augusta, Kennebec, Maine  and died April 9, 1919 in Blaine, Whatcom, WA. He is buried in Redlands, San Bernadino, CA. He married Jane Elizabeth JORDAN between 1860-1870, the daughter of Samuel JORDAN and Eunice Quimby SEAL. She was born in January 17, 1840 in the Woodfords area of Deering, Cumberland, Maine and died before 1910. James was a rancher and farmer and also went by his middle name William. Jane too went by her middle name Elizabeth. They did not have children.

  3. Irene THOMPSON was born in 1836 at Augusta, Maine and died young.

  4. Ellen "Nell" Appleton THOMPSON was born March 4, 1840 in Portland, Cumberland, ME and died April 20, 1908 in Blaine, Whatcom, WA. She was buried in the Blaine Cemetery next to her mother, brother Archie and sister Jennie Laura. She never married. She was a professional artist.

  5. George H. THOMPSON was born about 1844 at Augusta, ME and died May 1, 1900 near Agua Caliente, Maricopa, AZ. George married Lena Gertrude EVERETT on May 28, 1868 in Clinton, Oneida, NY. Lena was the only child of Charles M. EVERETT and Caroline M. HART. She was born in 1845, New York and died December 4, 1876 in Santa Fe, Santa Fe, New Mexico. George was a carpenter and was in the Civil War. They had two children, one who survived childhood:
    (1) Mary Gertrude THOMPSON born January 28, 1869 Portland, ME, died May 16, 1905 Seattle, King, WA. Mary married Franz Xavier SCHREINER on September 15, 1887 in Holbrook, Apache, AZ.
    (2) Charles THOMPSON born 1874 Minnesota, died between 1880-1897 as he appeared on the 1880 census enrolled at St. Michael's College, but was deceased prior to 1897 as stated in his father's military records.

  1. Caroline S. THOMPSON was born 1842 in Augusta, Maine and died March 31, 1873 in Ramsey County, Minnesota. She married William M. CADMUS in Ramsey County, Minnesota on May 9, 1872. William was born in 1843 in New Jersey. They had one son Stawood CADMUS born March 23, 1873. Carrie's cause of death was listed as "brain infection", she died just 8 days after giving birth to her son.

  2. Lyman Sinclair THOMPSON was born September 16, 1845 in Augusta, Maine and died May 17, 1915 in Hilo, Hawaii. He married (1) Rachel Smith ANDERSON, widow of John ANDERSON. (Rachel and John ANDERSON had two daughters, Josie and Rachel).   Lyman and Rachel had two children: Lambert Hagen born April 26, 1877 in Kohala District, Hawaii and Estelle born January 31, 1879 in Halaula, North Kohala, HI. Rachel died March 23, 1879 in Kaiophihi, North Kohala, HI. Lyman married (2) Grace C. KIMBALL on June 22, 1881 in North Kohala, HI. Grace was born in 1861, Bridgeton, Cumberland, Maine, the daughter of John H. KIMBALL and Helen M. BALL and died March 27, 1899 Inglewood, Los Angeles, CA. They had one son Laurence Kimball TTHOMPSON born January 23, 1887 in Kohala, HI and died October 24, 1998 in Rancho Bernardo, San Diego, CA. Lyman was a doctor.

  3. Jessie Murdock THOMPSON was born in 1846 and married second Susan J. LITTLE, widow of Charles R. THOMPSON on June 23, 1898 in Galesburg, Knox, Illinois. Susan was born in 1842, Deposit, NY, she was the daughter of David and Susan B. LITTLE.

  4. Frederick Archibald "Archie" THOMPSON was born on May 7, 1849 in Augusta, Maine and died on May 7, 1901 in Blaine, Washington. He was a dentist, having practiced in Montana, Hawaii and California. Archie never married and is buried in the Blaine Cemetery.

  5. William THOMPSON was born in 1851 and likely died young.

  6. Frank B. THOMPSON was born April 1853 in Augusta, Maine and died Mary 25, 1935 in Solvang, Santa Barbara, CA. He married about 1877 in Minnesota to Jennie McDONALD. Jennie was born in 1859, Michigan and died in 1887. She was the daughter of Donald and Permelia McDONALD. Frank was a Civil Engineer and City Clerk and later the caretaker of Nojoqui Falls County Park in California. They had one child: Frank Appleton THOMPSON born May 1, 1879 in Brainerd, Crow Wing, MN, died March 8, 1953 in Portland, Multnomah, OR. He married Helen "Nellie" Margaret CAMPBELL on September 14, 1905, Aldrich, Wadena, MN. Frank Appleton was raised by his grandparents Donald & Permelia.

  7. Jennie Laura THOMPSON was born on July 10, 1854 in Portland, Maine. She died on April 11, 1926 in Kent, King, Washington and is buried in the Blaine Cemetery. She often went by Laura. She married William Allan KING (a medical doctor) on June 1, 1875 in Minnesota. William was born August 30, 1848 in Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence, NY, the son of Dana E. KING and Emily M. LONG. He died May 16, 1909 in Blaine, WA. Both Jennie Laura and William are buried in the Blaine Cemetery. They had two children: John Swainson KING born June 30, 1876 Minnesota, died December 19, 1941 in King County, WA. He married Marian E. BACON about 1905. James Dana KING born December 26, 1885 in Lahina, Hawaii, died February 4, 1962 in Graham, Pierce, WA. He married Vida May URIE on April 14, 1920 in Redlands, San Bernadino, CA.
