Excerpts from the Walla Walla Union Bulletin, Sunday, December 26, 1954

Miss Becky Ann Teal became Mrs. Robert F. Lonneker at nuptials in St Paul's Episcopal Church Tuesday afternoon. They are spending their honeymoon in Canada.  After they return they will be on the family farm at Clyde. The bride graduated Walla Walla High School and attended Whitman college, the bridegroom graduated from St. Patrick's High School and attended Washington State College.

Miss Mary Ellen Benzel became Mrs. Robert Morrison at rites in Christ Lutheran Church December 18. They will continue their studies at Eastern Washington College.  She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Benzel and Robert is the son of Harry Morrison. Shirley Hasselman was maid of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Maxine Molkie and Miss Sandra Riemer.  John Corker served as best man and ushers were Ted Berry and Mile Lodmell. Candle lighters were Miss Janet Schmick and Clark Erdman.

The home of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Pifer was the scene of morning nuptials Monday which united in marriage Mrs. Grace Shewmaker and Joseph H. Muncey. The Rev. Harry Baird read the ceremony in the presence of immediate families of the pair.  Mr. and Mrs. Pifer attended the couple.

In a candlelight ceremony Sunday evening at Central Christian Church, Miss Dorothy Lois Strahm, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred H. Strahm exchanged nuptial vows with Joseph Raymond Canaga, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W;. Canaga of Lebanon, Oregon. Rev. Harry Baird officiated.  Miss Maxine Molkie was maid of honor and bridesmaids were Miss Georgene Nelson, Mrs. J. Patrick McGee, Cheney, and Mrs. Robert Adams, Eugene. The couple are at home in Eugene, Oregon, where the bridegroom will continue studies at the University of Oregon. Mrs. Canaga is a Walla Walla High School Graduate and attended Northwest Christian College and the University of Oregon.  She has been employed at the Walla Walla Clinic.  Her husband, a Lebanon High School graduate also attended Northwest Christian College.  

Nuptials were Sunday, Sept. 4, uniting Miss Edna Mae Tinker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Tinker, and Harvey Dick Hammons, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey D. Hammons of Grants Pass, Oregon.  Rev. Harry R. Baird officiated, with Myrna Roberts soloist.  Miss Mary Jay Herbert was maid of honor and bridesmaids were Misses Jean Piercy of San Francisco; Jane Weber of Portland and Donna Anderson of Salem.  Miss Cheryl Hastay was flower girl.  John Hammons, Grant Pass, Ore, was best man and ushers were Dale Hastay, Darrell Lindquist , John Colver and George Tamayasu all of Portland.

The Rev. and Mrs. Everett E. Rhodes of Port Angeles, formerly of Walla Walla, announced the marriage of heir daughter, Miss Carolyn Kay Davis and Joseph Alonzo Teal, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Teal of Lubbock, Texas. Now at home in Richland, the bride is a teacher in the public schools and her husband is employed by General Electric.  Vows were exchanged on Aug. 24 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and later a wedding dinner given in Port Angeles. 


Adventist Archives excerpts, August 29, 1966

Conard Hall Chapel was the setting for the wedding of Steven W. Cromwell and Elizabeth Ann Drake on June 12, 1966. Steve and Betty are preparing for mission service.  Elder M. L. Mooers of Laurelwood Academy conducted the ceremony. 

Pamela Jean Sonnentag and Chester Bruce Clough, both students at Walla Walla College, were united in marriage in the Youth Chapel of the College Church on July 10. Elder Harry Sharp officiated. 

In the Walla Walla College church on August 8, Evelyn Edelle Thompson, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. T. R. Thompson of College Place, became the bride of John J. Grosboll, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Grosboll of Berthoud, Colorado. Elder G. Balharrie officiated. Evelyn, a nurse, and John, a ministerial candidate, are both graduates of Walla Walla College, class of 1966.

Daughter of Col. and Mrs. Frank Dixon McElwee of Walla Walla married Edwin Ruthven Holmes III, son of Edwin R. Holmes Jr. of Jackson, Miss and the late Mrs. Holmes on June 17 in Centerville, Miss. 

Miss Linda Ann Huddleston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Martin Huddleston of Chicago, Ill., and Arthur Christian Yengling, son of Dr. and Mrs. Arthur A. Yengling of Walla Walla, were married June 23 in Chicago.

F. E. "Eddie" Glenn, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold Glenn of Lostine, OR and Miss Frances Laurel Troyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Troyer, of Umapine were married at a double ring service June 24 at Engle Chapel near Milton-Freewater.

At Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, July 1 wedding of Rosalie Benzel daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Benzel of Walla Walla and Ronald Philip Swanson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd C. Swanson of Moses Lake.

Patricia Elaine Parker daughter of Ellen Parker, College Place and George Parker is engaged to Warrant Officer Raymond Dale Anderson, son of Mr. Lee Cook of Seattle and Joe Anderson, Roseburg, OR. A July Wedding is planned.

Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Koch, Hermiston, announce the marriage of their daughter, Alvina Doreday to Gale Robert Tompkins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tompkins, Stanfield  They were married in Pasco Jun 17 at the First Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Wilbur Whitney and the late Wilbur Whitney announce the engagement of their daughter Karyn to Steve Phelps, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. P. Phelps of Sumner, WA. No date has been set.

Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Chalmer Franzen of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Walla Walla announce the engagement of their youngest daughter, Susan Jane to John Burton Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Anderson of Carmel, CA.  The date has been set for June 1968.

Now at home in Walla Walla are recently newly weds, Mr. and Mrs. Walter C. Blue following a June wedding  at Escondido, CA.  The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Scales of Escondido and his parents are Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Blue of Walla Walla.

Miss Donna Marie Meharry of Milton -Freewater, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Meharry wed Alan Joel Wager, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Wagner of Sandpoint, ID on July 2 in Conard Hall Chapel of Walla Walla College.

Lieutenant Dr. James Arthur Poole of the U. S. Navy married Miss Theresa Mary Walmsley of Long Beach California at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church of Long Beach.  His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Richard A. Poole of Portland OR and she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard F. Walmsley of Walla Walla.

Recent newlyweds are Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Ford, the former Joyce Graham.  She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence B. Graham of Pasco. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ford of Kennewick. They were married July 1.

Rose Mary Hylton, of Wallowa, Oregon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sim Hylton married Donald U. Smith in Dallas, Texas in June. The groom has been sent to Guam.


Adventist Archives excerpts October 28, 1968

The home of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Jensen of College Place was the scene of a lovely wedding August16 when Ruth Jensen and Robert Lippert were united in marriage in the presence of their immediate families. Elder E. D. C. Richardson officiated. Mr. and Mrs. Lippert will be making their home in College Place while he is attending school. 

Dawn Church and Daryl Johnson, both of College Place, Washington,  day Adventist church of Ronan, Montana, on Sunday morning, September 1. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson are presently living in College Place where both are continuing their education. 

Lucretia Mohr and Larry Hans On June 23, the Walla Walla College church provided the setting for a beautiful candlelight wedding ceremony at which Mr. and Mrs. Leon Bock of College Place, Washington, gave their daughter, Cheryl Jean Bock, in marriage to Donald Melvin Stanwick of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Officiating as vows were exchanged was Elder H. D. Schwartz, educational superintendent of the Oregon Conference.

 Marilyn Jean Farnsworth of College Place, Washington, and Merwin L. Currie of Seattle took the vows of sacred union in marriage Sunday afternoon, September 1, in the Campus Chapel of Walla Walla College. Elder R. Eldon Baker, uncle of the groom, officiated. The couple will make their home in Kent, Washington.

Darrel Richard Ellis and Grace Charlene Schwisow were united in marriage on the evening of September 7 in the Trinity Episcopal Church in Sunnyside, Washington, in a beautiful candlelight service. They are making their home in College Place, Washington, where Mr. Ellis is completing his college work at Walla Walla College. Nevins M. Harlan was the officiating minister. 

Esther Hamer of Pendleton, Oregon, and William Littlejohn of Sequim, Washington, exchanged wedding vows September 1 in the Seventh-day Adventist church of Pendleton. Elder Harold McKay performed the ceremony. This young couple will make their home in College Place, Washington, for the next year.

On Sunday afternoon, September 1, Patty Sue Daffern of Puyallup, Washington and Leland Meitzler of Orting, Washington were united in marriage. Elder Larry Kurtz performed the ceremony. The new young couple will be attending Walla Walla College.

Rita Bowman of Medford, Oregon, and William Wohlers of College Place, Washington, were united in marriage August 18 in the Medford Seventhday Adventist church. G. K. Lashier, cousin of the bride, officiated. They are making their home in College Place, where Bill is continuing his education

Daryl Cole of Heyburn, Idaho, and Kim Torgerson of Lewiston, Idaho, were united in marriage at a lovely candlelight service in the First Presbyterian Church in Burley, Idaho, Sunday evening, September 15. Elder J. D. Nichols perform the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Torgerson are making their home in College Place, Washington, while they continue their education at Walla Walla College.


Abstracts from Walla Walla Union Bulletin, from Sunday, June 21,1970.

From Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Renfrow of Dayton comes formal announcement of the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Pamela, to Andrew Eikren, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Eikren of Alexander, N.D.  Miss Renfrow, a graduate of Dayton High School, attended Gonzaga University. Her fiance, a graduate of Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., is serving with the U. S. Army Administration at Fort Lewis. An August 8 wedding is being planned.

Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert L. LaRue of Milton-Freewater announce the engagement of their daughter, Shirley Marie, to Daniel James Aycock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Aycock, Walla Walla. The bride-elect is a graduate of McLoughlin Union High School and is attending Eastern Oregon College in LaGrande.  Aycock is a graduate of Walla Walla High School and is employed by the Walla Walla Police Department. The wedding willb e Sept. 17. 

Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert L. LaRlue of Milton-Freewater announce the engagement of their daughter Connie Kay LaRue, to Gerald Walker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard M. Walker, Milton-Freewater. Both are graduates of McLoughlin Union High School and both are attending Oregon State University in Corvallis. No date has been set for the wedding.

Miss Eleanor Patricia Heintz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold L. Heinz of Des Moines, Iowa and College Place will be married in late August to Arthur Michael Coppola, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward C. Coppola of Des Moines. ( Mrs. Heintz was formerly Eleanor Luckey of College Place). 

Mrs. Fern Gallaher was hostess at a rehearsal dinner at her home  for the wedding parties of John M. Gallaher and Laura Jean Bailey, and James I. McIntosh and Kathleen Anne Bailey.  The couples were married in a double ceremony May 23.

Miss Karen Melodie Kinsfather  was married to Richard A. Bresnahan June 13 at Assumption Catholic Church.  She was given in marriage by her brother, Richard A. Bresnahan. Parents of the couple are Mrs. Eloise Kinsfather, Alder St.; Albert A. Kinsfather, Korea; and Mr. and Mrs. Richard R. Bresnahan, Phoenix, Ariz. 

Miss Susan Lorraine Daggett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Daggett of Dayton, and Kelly Neal Qualls, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Qualls of Twin Falls, were married June 6 in a double-ring ceremony in the First Christian Church. The Rev. Jasper Havens officiated.  Mrs. Gene Schmitt of Pilot Rock, sister of the bride , was her attendant.  Archie Quesnell of Twin Falls, was best man.  The couple...will both again attend Walla Walla Community College this coming year. 

The Bothell Methodist Church was setting for the May 23 ceremony uniting Miss Lynn Marie Fouquette and David Robert MacDonald in marriage.  The bride is the daughter of Mrs. June Fouquette of Kirkland, Wash., formerly of College Place, and Hubert C. Fouquette of Spokane.  Parents  of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Robert MacDonald of Seattle.  Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Seachris of College Place are the maternal grandparents.  The newlyweds will return to Western Washington State College at Bellingham in the fall, where he is an oceanography major and she, a psychology major. 

Mrs. Dorothy Anderson Kahler and Dr. Richard Mehrer, both of Loma Linda, Calif. exchanged wedding vows before Elder J. Gregory Ziegler in a cerem9ony June 14 in the chapel of the College Place Adventist church.  Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Anderson, College Place; parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Edwin J. Mehrer, Ellensburg.  Both the bride and groom received degrees from Loma Linda University in ceremonies  May 31. The bride received the B. S. degree in dental hygiene, the bridegroom  the D. D. S. degree. 

Miss Gwendolyn Ann Mosher and Steven Craig Bean repeated nuptial vows at the bride's home June 8.  Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Milton Mosher of Pullman and Mr. and Mrs. Robert K. Bean of Prescott. The bride is a 1970 graduate from Washington State University where the bridegroom is still attending.  

Miss Sandi Bell Seel, daughter of Mrs. Mildred Seel and George Calvin Bayer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert O. Bayer. was married May 30 by Father Charles Eis. The bride is a 1970 graduate from Wa-Hi and the bridegroom graduated from DeSales in 1969. The groom will be employed by Fuller Paint Company, Fairbanks, Alaska
