The Daily News-January 1970 Wahkiakum County Eagle-January 1970 Longview, WA Cathlamet, WA Charles Irving Wood Age 71, of Puget Island, died at home. He was born in Colby, Wash. He had lived in this area since 1930. He operated a grocery store and was a retired Postmaster from Cathlamet. He also operated Wood's Boat Shop. He was a member of the Puget Island Grange, past president of the Assoc. of Washington State Postmasters, and past president of the Cathlamet Commercial Club. He was a past civil defense director of Wahkiakum County, he was a member of the Manchester Methodist Church. His survivors include two sons, Fred of Longview and Allen of Seaside, Ore.; one daughter, Frances McNamara of Eureka, Calif.; six grandchildren; one brother, Thomas Wood of Everett; one sister, Nellie Denniston of Port Orchard, Wash.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Puget Island with Rev. Ph. Mueller officiating. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
