Wahkiakum County Eagle-July 13, 2006 Oswald Wika Oswald “Ozzie” Kristian Wika of Pinole, Calif., died at the age of 77, on May 28, 2006. He was born April 24, 1929 in Astoria, the son of Kristian and Clark M. (Westerberg) Wika. He was a lifelong resident of Cathlamet until he moved to California 12 years ago. Mr. Wika graduated from Wahkiakum High School in 1947 and attended Pacific Lutheran University for a year. He was self-employed in the logging industry in Wahkiakum county and also fished commercially on the Columbia River, in Puget Sound and Alaska. He served in the Army during the Korean War. On January 8, 1951 he married Phyllis Foster. She survives him at home. Other survivors include four sons, Gregory Wika of Cathlamet, Jeffrey Wika of Longview, Ron Wika of Marysville and Mark Wika of Seattle; two daughters, Lori Wika of Lake Oswego and Mary Wika of Pinole; a brother, Skip Wika of Ridgefield; and 10 grandchildren. There will be a public committal at graveside at 1 p.m. on July 22 at Greenwood Cemetery in Cathlamet with a Celebration of Life service at 2 p.m. at Heritage Bible Church on Puget Island. Dowling Funeral Home of Cathlamet is in charge of arrangements.
