Grays River Builder-January 30, 1941 Wiitala, Mary (Silvola) The Congregational church was filled to capacity Sunday afternoon with friends and relatives of Mary Silvola Wiitala who came to attend the last rites of a departed friend and neighbor. Mary Silvola Wiitala, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Silvola of Naselle, was born in Knappton, January 1st, 1900, and passed away in Providence Hospital in Seattle, January 22, 1941. She is survived by her husband, Einar, a daughter, Mary Elaine Senter, two sons, Russell and Alton Wiitala, her parents, four sisters, Hilda Doll and Tekla Keiski of Naselle, Kate Wilson of Bay Center, and Olga Southern of Seattle, and two brothers, Fred and Charles Silvola of Naselle, one grandson and numerous other relatives. Mrs. Wiitala's early childhood and early life was spent in Naselle where she attended the local schools. In early womanhood she married Einar Wiitala and they made their home here until Mr. Wiitala's business took him elsewhere. Their last home was in Skamania, Washington, where he was engaged in logging. She was a member of the Congregational Church, active in club work, and a charter member of the Naselle Home and Garden Club. Rev. Ellis Koven and Ensie Kainber sang a duet. Mesdames W. Brix and Ed Mathiesen sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and One Sweetly Solemn Thought." The floral offerings were beautiful. Interment was in the family plot in Peaceful Hill Cemetery. Pall bearers were Wayne Keiski, Frank Silvola, Eino Torppa, Arthur Niemi, Onni Wiitala, and Edwin Simmukka. The Home Mortuary of Seattle was in charge of arrangements.
