Wahkiakum County Eagle-October 9, 2008 Joanne White Joanne White, a 70-year-old Yreka resident passed away on September 30, 2008 at Madrone Hospice House in Yreka. Joanne was born on November 9, 1937 to Crint and Eva Cothren in Clay County, N.C. She was proud to be the mother of two children, Mark and Teresa. Throughout her life, Joanne lived in numerous location. In 2001, she moved to Yreka to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Along with being a mother, Joanne worked for about 40 years in retail with stores such as K-Mart and Pick-N-Save. Joanne enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved playing bingo, cards, spending time with her grandkids, eating at McDonald's and talking on the phone to her family. Besides her family, Joanne had another love and that was the love for her orange cat, Squeaker. Joanne was preceded in death by four of her siblings: Gad, G.L., Crint Jr. "Bug" and Gerald Cothren. She will be deeply missed by other members of her family including her daughter and son-in-law Teresa and Steve Collier of Big Springs; her son and daughter-in-law Mark and Julie White of Montague; her four grandchildren, Luke and Justine White, and Jeremy and Levi Collier; and her three siblings, Margie Luce, General Cothren and Barbara Hoven. A celebration of Joanne's life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Ocoveober 18, 2008 in the Yreka Elk's Lodge, 332 W. Miner St. in Yreka. In memory of Joanne and in lieu of flowers, one can make contributions to Madrone Hospice, 255 Collier Cir., Yreka, CA, 96097 and play a good game of bingo!
