WHEATLEY, Thomas E.	

  Age 89, of Longview, died at a Cathlamet nursing home.  He was born in 
Ariel, to Aaron and Nettie Wheatley, and lived in Cathlamet for 25 years 
before moving to Longview three years ago.
  He was a timber faller for Crown Zellerbach, retiring in 1971.
  He enjoyed fishing, clam digging, deer and elk hunting, crossword puzzles 
and gardening.
  His son, Ronnie, survives him in Kelso.  He was preceded in death by his 
daughter, Leta Handy, on December 25, 1996, and his brother, Sam.
  A graveside service was held Wednesday in Ariel.
  Dahl McVicker Funeral Home was in charge.
