Wahkiakum Eagle-December 2000 WEIBLE, Mitzi Elsa (Wiitala) Age 76, a Naselle native, died at her Milwaukie, Ore. residence of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's disease). She was the daughter of Finnish immigrants, Sanfred and Hanna (Savukoski) Wiitala, and she was born in Naselle where he father delivered milk for many years. Following graduation from Naselle High School she completed a secretarial course at Grays Harbor Business College in Aberdeen. In 1955 she married William Weible. Before and following her marriage she was employed as a medical transcriptionist for physicians and hospitals in Astoria, Eugene, Portland and Milwaukie. She enjoyed her family, flowers, fishing, the Oregon coast and the feeding frenzy at her backyard bird feeder. She was proud of her Finnish ancestry and was a member of the Finnish American Society of the West and never missed the Naselle Finn Festival. Besides her husband of 45 years she is survived by sons, Stuart and Scott, both of Portland; daughter, Sheila of Vancouver; seven grandchildren; brothers, Harold and Ray, both of Seattle and Jans of Aberdeen; sisters, Esther Nicholson and Katherine Wiitala of Portand, and Ruth Shields of Bellevue. Funeral services were Saturday at the Community Congregational Church of Naselle. Penttila's Chapel by the Sea, Long Beach, was in charge.
