Wahkiakum Eagle-August 1997 WEGDAHL, Maxine Gail Age 65, died at her home. She was born at Wilark, Ore., to Homer and Elva Trask Olmstead, and came to Cathlamet at the age of 9 where she attended Cathlamet schools. She lived in this area the rest of her life. She worked as a switchboard operator for the phone company for several years and in 1975 began working at the Wauna Paper mill in Oregon. She retired from the mill in 1992. She enjoyed reading, doing needlework and loved to learn. She was a member of United Paperworkers International Local 1097. Survivors include four daughters; Sherri Thompson of Longview, Gailanne Bendiksen of Houston, Texas, Nancy Bendiksen Manley of Olympia, Terri Lynn Wegdahl of Longview; one son, Marti Wegdahl of Longview; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Beryl Olmstead and Ervel Watkins. There was a Celebration of Life Service Sunday in the Cathlamet City Park. Chaplain Lyle Prather officiated.
