The Eagle-August 22, 1946 Cathlamet, Wash. WARREN, Charles Henry Charles Warren Called by Death Charles H. Warren, pioneer canneryman and first treasurer of the Town of Cathlamet, passed away at his home here Friday, August 16, at the age of 88. Born in Chelsea, Mass., on July 17, 1858, Mr. Warren came west as a young man via the Isthmus of Panama to San Francisco, and sailing to Oregon from there on the last voyage of the, Brother Jonathan. The ship was lost on the following voyage. In 1884 Mr. Warren came to Cathlamet to work in the salmon cannery of his uncle, F.M. Warren. He remained in the cannery business here until 1919 when he retired. Mr. Warren married Lettie Smith, who had come west from Ellsworth, Maine, in June, 1892. Always active in the community life of Cathlamet, Mr. Warren served as the town's first treasurer, hold that position for eight years. He was also treasurer at the time of his death and had held that position for several years. Warren was a member of the Masonic lodge, served one year as Master Mason, and 14 years as secretary of the lodge in this town. He was the first Sachem of Quill's Tribe, Order of Red Men. Funeral services were held at the Congregational church Sunday, with interment in Greenwood cemetery. Surviving Mr. Warren are his widow, Mrs. Lettie Warren, Cathlamet; nephew, Roy White, Cathlamet, a nephew, Clarence White, of San Jose, California; a nephew, Floyd C. Warren, of Portland, Oregon, and a niece, Mrs. Hazel Stuart, of Los Gatos, California.
