GEORGE H. WARD

  George H. Ward, 75, Route 1, died September 14 in a Longview hospital.  He 
was born October 19, 1897 in Spokane and had lived in the Cathlamet area for 
40 years, with the exception of a few years spent in Seattle.  Mr. Ward had 
worked for PUD No. 1 of Wahkiakum County, Wahkiakum School District 200 and 
for the last five years was superintendent of Cemetery District No. 1.
  Survivors include the widow at home; one son, Fred of Minneapolis; one 
daughter, Mrs. Shirley Micklas; one brother, Earl; one sister, Mrs. Merle 
Hughes, all of Los Angeles; and four grandchildren.
  Funeral services were held Monday in the Dowling Funeral Chapel with Rev. 
Everett Groves and Mitchell Doumit officiating.  Concluding services and 
interment were in Greenwood cemetery under the direction of Dowling Funeral 
Home.
