Grays River Builder-Thursday, January 16, 1941 Grays River, Washington Puget Island Resident Dies Hans Edward Vog, 82, resident of Puget Island for the past v4 years, ????? his home there following an illness of several weeks. He had been in an Astoria hospital and was taken home last Friday, suffering from a relapse Saturday from which he did not recover. He was born in Vik, Helgeland, Norway, April 28, 1868, and was married there July 18, 1880. To this union were born 13 children, 7 of whom survive their father. Mr. and Mrs. Vog celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at Puget Island last July with several hundred relatives congregating in the nearby church to honor them. In 1908, Mr. Vog came to America, going first to Tacoma. The rest of his family came over in the following spring, making their home in Seattle where Mr. Vog was employed as a laborer. In 1906 they moved to Puget Island, where, until the stand was diked, fishing was the major occupation. Since that time he had been occupied with farming and fishing until his advanced years forced him to retire. He was a member at the Lutheran Free Church of Cathlamet hrdiu bgk Church of Puget Island. Surviving are his wife, Stella, four daughters, Mrs. William (Linda) Haycox, Aurora, Oregon, Mrs. Sidney (Esther) Svensen and Mrs. Harold (Elsie) Enge of Puget Island and Mrs. Ellen Holden of Longview, three sons, John and Eric Vog of Puget Island and Edwin Vog of Seattle, 31 grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren. Funeral services which are under the direction of the E. B. Hughes Mortuary, will be announced later.
