Published in The Daily News on 5/21/2006. Longview, Cowlitz County, Washington Tover, Ottar T. Ottar Thorlief Tover, 83, of Longview died May 19, 2006. He was born Nov. 4, 1922, in Tover, Norway, to Nels J. and Signe J. (Tronson) Tover. He came to the United States when he was 2 years old, and the family settled on Puget Island. He lived in Castle Rock for 29 years and moved to Longview two years ago. Mr. Tover served in the Navy during World War II and was a member of Carpenters Union 1707, building churches, schools and homes. He retired in 1980. He is survived by a daughter, Julie Merchant; a son, Fred Tover; two stepdaughters, Kris Wright and Marie Gilchrist; his companion, Lorene Harber; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two nieces; and two nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Longview. The viewing will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Monday at Hubbard Funeral Home.
