Wahkiakum Eagle-17 March 1977 SWANSON, Jack L. Age 51, of Rainier, died due to a logging accident. He was working for DeBriae Logging Co. near Grays River. He was born in Mobridge, S. D., he moved with his parents to Longview in 1935, and received his education there. He served in the Army during WWII, and had followed the timber industry all of his working life. He had worked in the sawmill and drove logging trucks and had been a faller for the past four years. He moved to the West Rainier area in 1965 where he farmed, raising cattle and horses. Survivors include his wife, Nancy, at home; six daughters, Linda Whitney and Susan Jesswe, both of Rainier, Robyn, Tammy, Jodi and Jackie, all at home; five sons, Jon and Rocknie, both of Longview, Mark in Rainier, Matt and Mitch both at home; two sisters, Leona Deaver and Eva Johnson, both of Longview; ten grandchildren. Rosary was recited at the Rainier Catholic Church on Monday and Requiem Mass was on Tuesday at the church. Kaakinson Funeral Home of Rainier was in charge.
