Wahkiakum County Eagle-August 1996 STEFFEN, Harry Albert Age 90, of Cathlamet, died at a local nursing home. He was born in Iowa, the son of Henry and Steffen. He married Erica Wacker on April 25, 1934, in Lincoln, Neb. He was a carpenter for many years, but then he and his wife bought a dairy farm in Skamokawa in 1952 and ran it until he retired in 1979. He moved to Cathlamet in 1994. He was a member of the Washington State Dairyman's Assoc. His family was Dairy Family of the Year in 1969. He bred the first "Excellent Holstein" in the state and was a member of the Washington State Holstein Assoc. and the National Holstein Assoc. Survivors include his wife, Erica, at home; three daughters, Sharon Walker of Albany, Ore., and Ruth Linquist of Longview & ?; and sons, Daryle of Riverside, Ted Saari of Longview, Edwin Saari of Walla Walla, and Eugene Saari of Grays River; sister, Maggie Reed of Lincoln, Neb.; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services were at the Untied Methodist Church in Skamokawa. Rev. Philip Steffen officiated. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge. Greenwood Cemetery-Cathlamet, Wa. 12 Aug 1905-03 Aug 1996
