Wahkiakum County Eagle-Published on Thu, May 6, 2010 Bartley D. Stanley Lifelong Longview resident Bartley Devlin Stanley, 26, passed away April 25, 2010 at his home. He was born December 2, 1983 in Longview to Lori Rose and Rick Stanley. He attended school in Longview. Bart was a member of the Blue Clan of the Cherokee Tribe. He was proud of his Native American heritage and learned the culture from his late grandma Clara Stanley, "Rustling Leaves." Bart's native name was "Gentle Bear" which he was given by his grandma. He commercial fished in Alaska for several years for his family's fishing business. Recently he enjoyed learning construction while building his dad's beach house. He had a need for speed while enjoying snowboarding, dirt bikes and quad riding. Bart loved hanging with friends and family while adopting new family members along the way. He is survived by his parents, Rick and Debbie Stanley, and Lori Rose; his grandma June Rose; brothers Scott Stanley and Chris Moon (Kim Morrison), all residing in Longview; sister Kelsey Lee McWhorter of La Center; two nieces, Sinea Stanley and Amber Rolfe, many aunts and uncles, including Fred and Crystal Stanley, Penny Stanley, Carole Ann Stanley, and Floyd Stone, and many cousins and friends. A memorial service was held May 1 at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in Bart Stanley's name to Cowlitz County Juvenile Department/Youth & Family Link, 1725 1st Ave., Longview, WA 98632. Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park is in charge of arrangements.
