Wahkiakum County Eagle-January 1996 Ada Mary Spears Age 93, of Longview, died in a Longview nursing home. She was a longtime Hoquiam resident who moved to Longview six years ago from Cathlamet. She was born in Gresham, Ore., the daughter of Charles Edward and Ellen Cree. She was raised in Gresham, and attended school there. After she finished her schooling she lived in Oregon and California. She moved to Hoquiam and married Paul Thomas Spears Sr. on Nov. 21, 1931. He preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1963. For many years, she was a bookkeeper for her husband's business, including the Hegblom & Spears Road Construction County that he co- owned. She also worked as a seamstress at St. Joseph Hospital in Aberdeen. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hoquiam and attended the Congregational Church in Cathlamet. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and making arts and crafts. She is survived by a son, Paul T. Spears, Jr. of Longview; a daughter, Dorain Buchanan of Castle Rock; a sister, Lois Gerke of San Marcos, Calif.; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Tuesday.
