The Wahkiakum County Eagle-December 28, 2000 Lyla Sotka Lyla Katherine Sotka, 95, a lifelong resident of Eden Valley died December 20 in Cathlamet. Born in Seattle September 30, 1905, she was the only child of Sackri and Ida (Wall) Sackrison. She grew up in Eden Valley and attended the Eden Valley School. She and Fred Stoka were married May 15, 1923 in Cathlamet. They established their home in Eden Valley where Fred was a dairy farmer and she a mother and homemaker. He died in 1953 leaving her to raise her three youngest children. Mrs. Sotka was a member of the Seal River Apostolic Lutheran church. She was very proud of her Finnish ancestry and culture and had traveled to Finland several times. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, crocheting, playing the piano and attending Apostolic church meetings and conventions. Her family will remember her quiet sense of humor and her commitment and dedication to her church and family. She is survived by her daughter Corliss Florek of Cathlamet; sons Norman of Eden Valley, Marvin of Eatonville, David of Vancouver and Edward of Lake Oswego, Ore.; 18 grandchildren and 23 great- grandchildren. Funeral services were Tuesday at Naselle Lutheran church. Concluding graveside service and interment followed at Eden Valley cemetery, Rosburg. Arrangements were by Penttila’s Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach.
