Wahkiakum County Eagle-Jun 1996 Edward W. Sibert Former Cathlamet resident died in St. Maries, Ida., at the age of 70. He was born in Stonehome, Colo., to Earl and Fern Sibert. He moved to Calder, Ida., in 1937. He returned to Calder after serving in the US Navy during WWII. His tour of duty was in the Pacific. August 20, 1948 he married Eleanor Giroux in Couer D'Alene. They moved to Cathlamet in 1952. He worked as a construction operator for Crown Zellerbach here for more than 30 years. He returned to Calder after his retirement in 1985. His interests included hunting, fishing, gardening and farming. Survivors include his wife at home; two sons, Edward of Colorado and Robbie of Calder; two daughters, Judy Byrum and Mary Heagy, both of Cathlamet; two brothers, Ray Sibert of Calder and Earl Sibert of Calif.; two sisters, Evelyn Conley of St. Maries and Pearl Laing of Vancouver; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. A son Larry died in 1982. Funeral services were held Friday in St. Maries.
