Wahkiakum County Eagle-January 1996 Victor Randlett Shuley Longtime Cathlamet resident, age 88, died at home. He was born in Edinburg, ND, to Bernt B. and Anna J. (Johansson) Shuley. On June 12, 1937, he and Rosella Brunsvold were married in Cathlamet. That same year, he went to work for Crown Zellerbach. The Shuleys lived at Family Camp (Crown Zellerbach logging camp where families lived) until 1945, when they moved to town. He held several different positions at CZ over the years, retiring as a mechanic in 1972. He was a member of the Cathlamet Oddfellows for many years, and enjoyed fishing and traveling. He was devoted to his family, including a large extended family. He and his wife celebrated 58 years of marriage in 1995. She survives him at home. Also surviving are a daughter, Sylvia Luton of Vashon Island; a son, Ronald Shuley of Southgate, KY; five sisters, Alice Ferguson of Fargo, ND, Wilma Laurhammer of Portland, Blenda Monson of Grand Forks, ND, Norma Gire of Edinburg and Janet Maurice of Annadale, MN; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother. A celebration of life service was held Saturday at the First Free Church of Puget Island with Pastor David Gerlach officiating.
