The Eagle-April 20, 1951-Page 1 PATRICK ROSE KILLED IN LOG ACCIDENT Patrick E. Rose, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Rose, of Elochoman Valley, was fatally injured Saturday afternoon when he was hit by a rolling log at the Joe Florak logging operation. The young logger died while being rushed to a hospital in Longview. Rose and a fellow logger were sitting on a log eating when it began to roll. The other man escaped the rolling log, but Rose was hit by it as he fled. Rose was born in Castle Rock, Jan. 20, 1932, and is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gl. L. Rose, Cathlamet; four brothers, Dale L. of the U. S. Army; David, Daniel and Michael, all of Cathlamet; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harper of Morton and Mrs. John Rose, Cathlamet. Rose attended grade and high school in Cathlamet. Funeral services were held Thursday at the Assembly of God church with Rev. O. E. Marr officiating. Pallbearers were Ulysess Savarian, William D. Angell, Joe Florak, Lowell Trimble, Howard Clark and Frank Olson. Pat Rose was a lover of music. His favorite hymns, accompanied by Spanish and steel guitar, were played during the funeral. They are “The Old Rugged Cross”, “Beautiful Garden of Prayer” and “Sometimes It’s Hard To Understand”. Friends and loved ones will miss their songbird, and companion during hunting season. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. Hatton Funeral Home was in charge.
