Wahkiakum County Eagle-January 1996 Wallace Russell Raemhild Life-long Naselle resident, age 73, died in a Long Beach care center. He was born in Naselle, the son of William and Alma (Kolback) Raemhild. He graduated from Naselle High School and during WWII served stateside with the US Army Medical Corps. He retired from the logging industry in 1978. He spent much of his retirement doing various types of community service. In addition to assisting area residents in need, he spent over 20 years as a volunteer caretaker at Peaceful Hill Cemetery in Naselle. He was also the "Voice of the Comets", the public address announcer for Naselle High Comets court athletics for 30 years. Survivors include his wife, Beulah of Naselle; daughter Beverly Malone of Lake Oswego, Ore.; son, Gary of Seattle; three grandsons and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Memorial services will be Saturday at Naselle Lutheran church. Arrangements are by Penttila's Chapel by the Sea, Long Beach.
