She was born in Astoria, Oregon, September 9, 1931. Her father, Oscar Grasseth was the son of Norwegian immigrants who settled in Oak Point, Washington. Her mother, Helen (Hanson) Grasseth, was the daughter of Finnish and Estonian immigrants who settled in Eufaula Heights, Washington. At the age of 1 year Mildred moved with her parents to Neah Bay, Washington. She lived there for 17 years. They moved to Longview, and she graduated from R.A. Long in 1949. Mildred married Marlen Peterson, November 24. 1951. They raised four children, Steve, Merle (Buddy), Chris, and Lisa. Merle preceded her in death in 1980 and Marlen preceded her in death in 1983. Steve and Chris Peterson live in Longview as does Lisa Hill. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Patti Peterson, a son-in-law, Johnny Hill, two grandchildren, Sara and Luke Peterson, a brother, Harold Grasseth of Kelso, and a sister, Sue Thomas of Olympia. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. In the early 50's, Mildred worked for Pacific Northwest Bell, for about 5 years. She quit to become a homemaker. Sports were an important part of the Peterson family lives. She faithfully supported her childrens' athletic endeavors. Mildred was a Brownie Troop Leader. She also held an office in the PTA, and Babe Ruth Organization. Music was very important to her. She sang in church choirs most of her adult life. She also enjoyed gardening, tree farming, cooking and entertaining, family gatherings, and loved to shop with friends and family. Mildred married Rob Quoidbach September 4, 1999. He survives her at home. They went on many wonderful trips, before infirmities curtailed their traveling. A celebration of Life will be held Thursday, October 6, 2005 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church at 11:30 a.m. Private interment will be held at the Grasseth Cemetery in Oak Point, Washington.
